Or maybe it's so Perry Minasian as GM? Anyway, Suzuki is getting just one year on his managerial contract with the Angels. I said maybe it's "so MInasian" because that's all he has left on HIS contract.
And, if we're wondering why talks broke down with Albert Pujols, this is probably Exhibit A.
Update: If this really is about a potential lockout, it's stupider yet. Managers don't have a union, and I don't know if they even get paid during a lockout. Even if they do, it's not like a rookie manager's salary is anywhere near that of the top 7-10 players on most teams.

I swear the Angels front office treats their managers like the playing franchise mode on MLB the show they haven’t held on to a manager for more than 3 years since Scoscia retired
Just a guess here, the owners are expecting a lockout after next season. Would a coaches salary be 100% guaranteed regardless if the team plays games or not, if so this could be a money saving tactic.
There is no reason to give a new manager a one year deal, this is assinine. Most managers who aren’t retiring won’t even operate under the last year of their contracts, at least not on playoff caliber teams. If you’re in the last year of your deal as a playoff team manager, it’s usually because they want to get rid of you if you don’t win the whole thing.
Lockout incoming after next season. Probably want to see what their financial restrictions are going to be long term before committing to anyone.
2027 lockout. This confirms.
I think they would have just rode with Ron had his health been better
