NHL Highlights | Red Wings vs. Islanders | October 23, 2025
What group is it going to be tonight? Well, let’s
find out here. Our puck drop is presented by Vander Pharmaceuticals. A scrum for that winds
up in Red Wings control. Brennenburg upstairs, Thomasi downstairs. Happy to have you with us on
a Thursday night from Long Island. Adam Pel tries to sneak that one up the wall. Got tangled up and
knocked down by the stick of Alex Debrink. Unable to center that puck though, as the Wings go to
work. It’s tipped but not out and then tipped in front again. Tony D’Angelo turned it over.
Pass to the front. Bear Grin shot it wide with Boquist down on a knee trying to block it.
Pass intended for Johansson is stolen away by Holmstrom and Simon Holmstrom gives off to
Anders Lee. Lee D’Angelo wide open. He scores. First shot of the game goes in. Tony D’Angelo
and the Islanders with the early lead his own zone. But going back the other way, look,
Simon Holstrom, I liked his game last game. There’s a certain presence he has trotting through
the neutral zone when he’s a confident guy. He made this thing happen from a great defensive play
and Tony D’Angelo, I love the way he plays in the sense that he’s not the fastest guy. What does
that mean? You got to pick your spots wisely. That see that he jumped into. If the timing is not
perfect, it’s in front of you, it’s behind you, but he gets two goals, four assists for
the young man who’s already been named one of the six players of the Swedish Olympic team.
Here’s a two-on-one. Horvatine. Horvatine scores. A beautiful pass from Horvat. And already
the fourth this season for Emil Heinman. If you put your head down to work, don’t work
quite as hard as you absolutely can. That forces a turnover. It could have been an oddman
rush. And away he goes for Horvat. The smarts to pick that thing up on the fly. A beautiful little
saucer pass. It’s in the back of the net. I love a Bernard Docker try to fight that one to the
net. It’s off the shin pad of Pullock. Larkin swipes it away from Drew and moved it down
to Brink driving the left leg pad. Got that one for David Renick. Pretty simple in his
crease. Not wasted bubbit. But let’s look at the strength right there as Brinkit comes
in eventually some help from Pulock. Some help from Bo Horvat as Hidman comes into the
rescue. But watch that left pad right here as the push coming in. Not moving one bit at
all. Riddick’s been ready to go. sharp, smart, and strong as well. That was about right to
his chest and put a little little flare on. Here’s Anders Lee off the turnover. Lee working
on Ben Sherro pulls up. Good pass. Pacio scores. JG Pacio from Anders Lee. The
lead is three for New York. Now how he finds Bajjo that’s underneath
the stick and just a quick little release beats Talbot low. These guys have not slowed
down but that line just but the hit and the collection by Brans Negard shot Johansson
and that one caught a piece of Riddick Comfort complaining about a call that was
not made. Barzel and Duclair will force the issue. Two on two. Barcel cuts it back.
Hangs on to it off the bench. Ryan Pullock to the net off escape. They score. Ryan
Pulock banks it in off Kyle Paul Mary. Go to the net and good things happen. It’s an ugly
one right there. And after a lot of pressure in the other end from Detroit. It’s Matt Barzell and
his game’s a possession game. But Bulock activated off the bench and you see all the bodies in front.
Nice job by Duclair getting there for Kyle Palary. I mean, so far this year, he leads the NHL in
the amount of rebound chances he gets. That means he go to the paint in a situation like that,
there’s luck involved, but that’s more than luck. Watch him open up his skate right here. I can’t
give him fully full credit cuz I don’t know what was on his mind, but you’re in the right spot.
You got another to use their coach’s challenge to see if there was goalie interference prior
to the goal. I I had a feeling Brendan maybe to to me Thomas it looks like this is just
a desperation challenge for Tom and St. Nate tilt a game on its axis and and really change it
for the other team. though real speed. You know, we’re watching that ice and the blue ice
now belongs to Camt, but you need to prove definitively without a shred of doubt that it was
interference. And looks like they got a call now. After video review, the call on the
ice is confirmed. We have a goal. Well, that’s the balance the Islanders needed.
They’re going to try to get a line change. 30 seconds left and maybe go on the
offense. Here’s Barcel and alone scores. A successful kill turns into a Matt Barcel goal. It hops off the stick and the continued hunt
of Andersley. It just been outstanding. He got a piece of that. That’s why it’s tough
for Johansson. And a little help from Sikas. And this one for Talbot. I mean, I think he
was frustrated after that one. And at first I thought it didn’t look like he came out
far enough, but there he is at the top of his paint. But Billy Huso was their opening day
starter last year and things did not go well for him. He w up in the American Hockey League as
they dish this one across and Dave Reick. What a stop there. That big save. And watch this from
Reick. I mean, from my vantage point, I thought that was a sure thing, but the paddle comes
out robbing Debrink. Clock continues to tick. Larkens pass deflected but still got to Finny.
EMTT Finny from the dot to the slot. Larkin a back hand and they score. It leaked through
Renick and it’s tapped home by Dylan Larkin. This one it looks like a softy. I’ll tell you
why it’s so tough for a goalender to pick up where that backhander is going. Right.
It’s a fluttering puck and Clark and a little bit of a gift for him. But it’s the
fact he got it off so quick and a goalender that’s coming at that angle on the other
coast still still doing his thing. Always good to see the big man score. You know he
can fight. That’s no problem. But had a bit of everything going the other night. Here’s
Bo Horvat into the zone. Horvatine scores. Emil Heinman just can’t stop. His second tonight
on another beautiful feed from Bo Horvath. his stick and it’s not like he picked a corner
sort of threw this one back towards Camtal but he finds the hole but outstanding and as much
chemistry as I now playing top minutes with one of the more gifted playmakers in the NHL in
Bo Horvath and he’s found himself a nice spot are happy to see it got a 6-1 lead because
of it as Anders Lee dances in rebound score cleaned up by Simon Holstrom off the third
point of the night for Anders Lee. Two goals in 38 seconds ending 7 to one. This one is all
Anders Lee. But you watch coming connected as a group. That’s quick transition. This is a direct
pass off the pad. He looks at Holstrom goes, I can’t get it to you this way, but I can go off
the pad to tell. But 100% that was intentional by Anders Lee cuz he looked where Holstrom
was. He does. One last try for Sandy Pelico. Rebound chopped out. A chance for Casper.
Out of the pile up. It comes for Branson Negard. His shot was stopped on the side of the
net. Islanders have not beaten Detroit since February 29th. That doesn’t happen every year.
2024. Here’s a chance for Bear Grid. He scores. So after some extended action on both ends of
the ice back and forth, it winds up being a goal for Jonathan Barren, his first of the season.
Actually hits Casey Zikas right in the middle of your screen right there. And that’s why Detroit’s
got the ability to go the other way and from that point forward just sort of a track meet. D’Angelo
probably thinking that’s like a true clearcut threeon two and he leans a little bit towards
Brendard and I I I didn’t see the hit by Apple but him and Schaefer got caught up and Schaefer sort
of had his stick and sometimes you don’t have the best view of things but I like that response
of five guys just going over there Because

As long as Horvat and Barzal stay healthy, the Isles will be a playoff team.
That Deangelo goal was Kessel esque. Beauty
Come on Red Wings. What are we doing in NY state?
Swiss Cheese
Training with Adam Oates, is really paying off the Captain. LGI!!!!!!!!!!!
Man I wished Montreal kept Heinemen but hey we have Dobson now 😂
Woooooo Let’s go baby!
What a trade by the Isles. 5 goals in 7 games for Heineman. Great chemistry already with Horvat. 25 goals seems very doable. Crazy quick release.
Fire yzerman
TALBOT SUCKS
Another year of watching the wings unable to keep up with Talbots suck
Pretty embarrassing being a wings fan right now
Wings had no heart and quit, sadly
