NHL Highlights | Canadiens vs. Oilers | October 23, 2025

That was a 3-2 decision over Ottawa on Tuesday.
The Canadians on the second of a backto- back and we’re underway with Montreal having beaten
Calgary in overtime. Hulking frame. He and Nurse come together. Jake Evans sets up a man. Rich
shot off the outside of the post. That was a good chance for Gary. He’s missed 188. And it’s
frustrating. You know, we’ve talked to him in years past and it’s frustrating for him. He wants
to dig in. Wants to have a full season. Hudson the shot. Ricochet. Score. Alex New Hook on the
rebound. And Montreal takes a one- nothing lead as again Hudson’s able to funnel one through.
And New Hook pounds it home for his second of the year. The lion share in the offensive zone.
This is just off a chip and charge. Get into the zone and it’s the second man attack. Comes up with
a puck. Good scramble here. That puck is up for grabs two different times and it just followed the
bouncing pucks, but the sticks have been a little bit quicker for Montreal. And credit New Hook,
he’s the one that initially separates man from puck. Eventually, that little shimmy shake there
by Hudson. Gets that shot through. And it’s New Hook on the doorstep. Look at this off the pad.
Jam and hold for New Hook. Got caught between shot and pass and it rolled off a stick. I think he
wanted to pass it. I think he was just waiting for an opportunity. He played well in the twoon-one
and just rolled off with his stick. Walman to Phillp. He’ll wind it around. Picked up by Vasili
Poulson. Ross Sever and a drive. Redirects it home. It’s Philp in front. But I think this goal
is going to belong to David Tamasa. Barry his first in the National Hockey League. And again, he
gets this puck and he’s thinking shot. And it does go off the skate of New Hook in front. It looks
like right off the tall finds the back of the net, but that’s why you shoot a puck was up on edge.
Get it to the net. He knows he has Emerson back door, but he gets a bounce. I agree. Howard
to Eol across Wman shot redirects it in. Adam Henrik with a high slot deflection for
a 2-1 Edmonton lead right on Q Luke off the cycle. We’ve talked about this at length. Go to
work. Come up with pucks. Keep the pressure on. And this is just a perfectly tipped puck by
Adam Henrique. Keeps his stick down enough. Watch this. Presents the target. When you see a
Ford looking at you like that and he says, “Yeah, I want it.” And he’s got the inside track on Noah
Dobson and he gets a backhand redirection. Drops that puck right down through the wicket. So hard
for a goalender to read. He thinks it’s coming up into the glove. Nope. It’s in the net. Wman
unable to snake his way between two defenders. Nurse off to Conor McDavid. Tried to d back door.
Was there for Nurse and then a quick second goal. Andrew Bapane with his third of the year
and the Oilers extend to a 3-1 lead. Treat and buy your check. A little spin move
here by Majapani. This doesn’t go right through, but good support by Mapani on Walman. Now
it’s Darnell Nurse’s time. Get to the back of the net. He just can’t finish this pass, but
a beauty little backhand pass through the feet right out to Mapani who then drives himself
to the net. This is excellent movement around the offensive zone. We said they have to start
spending more time. Kulak up to Mapani scored moments ago to make it 3-1. Anderson muscles
it in looking for Gallagher. Lunged at it, but Kulak beat him to the spot. Gallagher’s
finally been healthy the last couple years in front anderson scores. And Montreal’s right
back in the game. That’s created by Gallagher’s ferocity on the for check. Josh Anderson pours it
in and you’re going to see Darn Nurse come back to this puck. It looks like he’s okay. A little
poke check right there by Koulak gets it to him, but a good stick by Gallagher. Turns this puck
over. Picker the save off the rush. Evans stripped from behind by Seavoy but followed up by Cawfield.
And here’s Dobson looking for Cfield and scores. tie game. He gained some life on that goal
by Anderson. They had been buzzing again in this second period. Edmonton pushed
them back with some great shifts in zone, but it’s the puck retrievals. It’s the
50/50 pucks and then spreading out a little bit. This is a dandy move by Cole
Caulfield. I mean, known to be a shooter, but he stick handles in a phone booth here.
What a pass right here to find a tape to tape cross seam right onto Caulfield stick and then
one move, second move, walks around. Here’s a drop pass. A nifty one by Roselman. He comes in
and his shot deflected up over top by his one time teammate in Nashville. Carrie and Montreal’s
away. Cfield and Suzuki. Cfield shoots and scores. Canadians regain the lead. Unbelievable. This
is end to end hockey track. We said early on, Edmonton doesn’t necessarily want to
get into this type of a game with the Montreal Canadiens. They’re good at it.
Simple as that. And Cole Cfield delays, delays, delays, and then lets go. This
wicked release far side. He finds a new hook. Wristed down deep by Neon. Picked up by
Kappa. Knocked off his stick. New hook to Strub in front. One-time score. New Hook’s second
of the game. And the Canadians go up two. It’s 53 Montreal. Nice little play back down
deep. Keep it on the perimeter. Kappa is the one actually that comes up with that puck.
I thought Demi Dog made a little tip on it, but beautiful backhand pass by him as he threads
this one through and New Hook. It’s the movement once again on the cycle. So hard to pick up, but
he doesn’t get picked up into the slot. I mean, that’s right between the hash marks. Here’s Disr
Bard belted wide. Can a perfect eight for eight in Alberta on the PK thus far. Nan Hopkins.
Vick David in front. Score. Tricle cuts it to 54. Power play goal. Edmonton right back in the
game. Scor critical time in the game and they go to work. Did not give up possession to this
puck since the face off and eventually it’s McDavid takes this puck around the net. That’s a
beautiful unsportsmanlike conduct as the call. So I’ll take back what I said. I think I was right
though. It wasn’t that. Yeah. I figured it had to be something else. Here’s McD here. Score tie
game. Ein Hopkins the equalizer. It’s five five and again just the confidence starting to
grow and this is what happens when you give a team like Evansson power plays they’re
going to eventually start to capitalize and that’s exactly back to nerve shot
dropped at the feet of Mont just by now Samo Bman in front back here. Score P but Coulson
65 Edmonton Coleman was first of the season. Great work by Seavoy. Puck possession making
plays in tight spaces. Moving around. We’ve seen so much from both teams of this in this
game. And what a power move by Pod Co. And I mean he’s right up against Mat here on the
edge of the blue paint. Walnut keeps this alive. Quick passing. Bam. Upstairs up over
top of the glove. That’s got to feel good for Pat Coulson. Talk about shelfing it.
Strong on the puck. Box out. Barry. The net is empty. The game is dishes. The
game is over. And won it six to five.

  1. Canadiens fans,

Us Oilers fans have been on the wrong side of the officiating many times. In the SCF, for example.

The officiating does suck. You were just on the wrong end tonight. That said, probably shouldn't go chirp the refs

  2. Man the ReHabs fans are SALTY tonight everywhere on social media. Glorious! Your Montreal Steak Spice will be tasty on my porterhouse after work. Yum!

    Ole Ole!

  3. Oilers will need to outscore the goals let in from their poor goal tending and defensive blunders throughout the season. Unfortunately, they can’t do that all the time.

  4. wow. cry harder. it’s a boarding call that get called all the time and then you get a stick across the legs of the puck carrier. both a good calls. then, you cry about it and make a fool of yourself. plenty of time left in the season to learn how to play big boy hockey.
