Michael Penix Jr. & Zac Robinson SOUND OFF On Falcons Offensive Struggles + Week 8 Preview vs. Miami
Get ready, Falcons fans. I’ve got more takes coming your way in this episode of Falcons Today by Chad Sports. My name is Moose. We’re going to hear from Michael Penn Jr. and Zack Robinson on the offensive struggles so far. Some of it makes sense, others make me just completely shake my head. Let’s of course start with the good news. It looks like Michael Penn Jr. is going to end up playing this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Now, that’s not confirmed, but everything is trending towards MPJ getting the nod. And Zack Robinson was asked about Michael Penn Jr. and he said, “I’m very excited with where he’s at right now with it when it comes to his development as a quarterback and where his injury is at.” And then he added on by saying, “We feel like we have a chance every Sunday or Monday when he is at the switch.” And I will say this, it’s good that your offensive coordinator and your quarterback are at least on the same page when it comes to supporting each other, but they did both talk about how to get the offense on track. A lot of blanket statements and then a lot of head scratchers coming from Zack Robinson as well, which leads me to believe that honestly his hot seat continues to grow and it gets hotter and hotter every single time the Falcons play. Speaking of when the Falcons play, if you want daily videos, if you want watch parties every single week, if you want all the news, all the rumors, everything surrounding your favorite team, go ahead and hit that sub button right now and turn on those notifications for me. It lets me know who the real ones are. All right, let’s start with Michael Pennix Jr. Here’s what he had to say when they asked him about not only the San Francisco 49ers game, but the offense as a whole. He said, “I feel like we were in the game. We knew it was going to be a hard-fought game all the way until the end. It never felt like we were all the way out of it. I look at our wins since I’ve been starting and I don’t like it. We’ve got to get there. We’ve got to finish drives. We need to execute in the red zone. So, it’s not just Moose that’s seeing the offensive struggles. It’s not just the Falcons fans like you that are seeing the struggles as well. Pennix is aware of it. I’m sure all of the offensive linemen are aware of it. Drake London Bejon and I hope Zack Robinson is aware of it. And here’s another thing that you need to know. It’s not just the scoring defense or the scoring offense, excuse me, which we’ve touched on in the last couple of episodes. The Falcons just don’t have many pop plays. The explosive play rate in the NFL, while it isn’t very bottom of the league, it is certainly not in the top of the league. It is 19th at 5.4%. Now, you could look at that and say, “Okay, well, we don’t have an offense quite yet that’s ready for Michael Penn Jr. to bomb the ball down the field.” But what was the one area that Michael Penn Jr. flourished at when he was at the University of Washington? And everything we’ve been hearing about Michael Penn Jr.’s development since the offseason, how beautiful his deep ball is. And yet, we don’t see it nearly enough. It’s gotten better in the last couple of games, but not nearly enough to where we say this is exactly what we need to see. Part of that is because we really don’t have an explosive playmaker right now outside of Drake London. Part of it is Michael Pennock Jr. isn’t connecting on some of these throws and part of it is Zack Robinson isn’t dialing up the right plays all the time. Here’s another thing you need to know. Speaking of Zack Robinson, I find this to be absolutely hysterical as you have the best running back in the NFL. The Falcons are dead last in NFL play action rate at 9.7%. Now, I did do a little bit of homework for you. So, in case you’re wondering, Moose, what does that have to do with success? How does that translate to success for an NFL offense? Go ahead and take a look real quick at the top five teams in the NFL that use play action the most. The Rams come in at number one. Colts, Cowboys, Broncos, Bears. I’m going to let you just sit on this graphic for one second as you mull it over because I’ve got a lot to say. Do you notice anything similar to all five of these teams? They either either A have a really good record, B are a really good offense, or C you mesh the two of them together. So, what do all of those teams have in common? They are pushing the ball down the field and are scoring points because they utilize the play action more than other teams, period. And Zack Robinson still thinks this pistol offense and this wonky ass play action style, which believe it or not, I tried to capture in a a screenshot for you from the 49ers game. I just want you to take a quick little look at something for me. Here’s a playaction play that quite literally doesn’t look like a playaction play. In the exact seconds before Pennix turns his shoulder, he doesn’t even fake the handoff to be John Robinson. Now, that’s not a Penn thing. That is a play design thing. They’re going through the motions on play action. There’s no fake handoff. Pennix just kind of like flips his body around and all of a sudden that edge rusher that you see up the middle, that linebacker right there, finds a wide open hole and pressures Michael Penn Jr. This play results in an incompletion. Here’s my ultimate feeling about this. Thank god the Miami Dolphins suck because if you were to do that against one of the best defenses in the NFL, if you did that against the Denver Broncos, if you did that against the Minnesota, well, you played the Minnesota Vikings and you beat them, but there are a lot of other great defenses in the NFL that will absolutely demolish you. The Giants are another really good defense. They absolutely made Bo Knicks life a living hell the other day and they ended up losing. The sad fact of the matter is is that Zack Robinson is skating by the skin of his teeth because he happens to have the MVP candidate Bejian Robinson in the backfield. Outside of that, the Falcons offense has been mediocre at best. And again, thank god the Dolphins suck. Comparatively, the Falcons beat them in every statistical category you can think of. I mean, I know this is a lot of information coming at you. Just look at the rank. Look at the stats and look at the right and left sides. We beat them in total offense. We beat them in passing offense. Beat them in rushing offense. The only thing we actually don’t beat them in is scoring offense. But sacks allowed is better. Third down offense is better. I could go down the list of all the statistics that prove the Atlanta Falcons are a better team because they are a better team. They’ve got better personnel. Their coaching staff at least has some continuity. And to be completely honest with you, Mike McDaniel is probably not a head coach, but this should be a let Bean Cook game. I mean, this is the worst run defense in the NFL, period. It’s not even close. So, just give the ball to Bean at the very end of the game or excuse me, throughout the game and just let him carry you to victory. Look, I’m trying really, really hard to be optimistic for you guys. I want to be the host. That tells you the Falcons are in a prime position to go on a run. The Falcons are in a prime position to win two, three, four, five games in a row. The Falcons are definitely in a spot to compete with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to win the NFC South. But the sad fact of the matter is is that even if the Falcons end up crushing the Miami Dolphins and we’re going to get up for it, I’m still going to have that little seed of doubt in the back of my mind. I am. And again, the Miami Dolphins, their defense is just it’s like that Disney movie. It’s full of holes. I mean, it sucks. So, this could be the the get right game to figure out what you want to do going forward for the rest of the 2025 season, considering you’re going up against one of the worst secondaries, one of the worst run defense. I mean, it’s absolutely awful. If you look at the EPA chart against the Miami Dolphins, the only defense in EPA that’s worse than them is the Dallas Cowboys. So losing to the likes of the Miami Dolphins would be a fireable offense in my opinion. It just would. It It’s It’s inexcusable, especially with the two of problems that you’ve seen. I mean, you name the issues, the Dolphins have it. So, as much as I want to be the guy that says, “We’ve got this in the bag. It’s the start of a good uh, you know, winning streak. We should be pumped up.” Part of me is like, do what you need to do. Make the adjustments you need to make and get the W. That’s what we should be concerned about. So, who you got? Obviously, I’ve got the Falcons. They’re a better team. They should win this game. So, I’m typing my ATLs. But get down in the comments section down below and let me know what you think. And if you are a Dolphins fan that happens to think the Dolphins can win, type your MIAS down in the chat. Now, coming up, Zack Robinson spoke out, but he really didn’t say anything. And this is where I’m even more concerned about the state of the offense for the remainder of the season because Zack Robinson got very defensive with the Falcons media members and we’re going to talk about it. Now, before I do that, got to tell you about our friends over at Prize Pick. You and I make decisions every single day, but on Prize Pick, being right can actually get you paid. You don’t want to miss any of the excitement this football season on Prize Picks, where it is good to be right. Prize Picks is now the only app that offers stacks, meaning you can pick the same player up to three times in the same lineup. You want to pick them more on Michael Penn Jr.’s passing yards, rushing yards, and touchdowns, you can now do that in the exact same lineup, only on prize picks. Believe it or not, I made a lineup for you. It’s very simple. I kept it NFL generic to stay away from the Falcons because the last time I bet them, I got absolutely smoked. Uh, but this is what mine looks like. Carson Wentz tonight less on the passing yards. Jaylen Herz more on the passing yards and a half and then Jamar Chase. We all know what he’s capable of. He’s an unbelievable wide receiver talent. I’m taking the more on touchdowns for him as well. Yours can look like mine, but it doesn’t have to. I went really simple with a little three pick power play. All you got to do is download the app today. Use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. prize picks. It is good to be right. So, let’s start off with what one Falcons fan had to say. And I thought this was hilarious. I’m going to try and start to feature you guys more a little bit on my shows because there’s a lot of really fun stuff that you guys have talking about when it comes to the coaching staff. Zack Robinson said that he doesn’t agree with the consensus that his offense is predictable. Granted, this is going back to September 24th and it has definitely gotten better since then. However, in the biggest moments, in the moments where the Falcons need the offensive coordinator to dial something up in order to keep the game going or to put points on the board, Zack Robinson is failing tremendously. Is it entirely his fault? No. But the offensive coordinator has to be responsible for the offense. Period. And believe it or not, he was asked about the game against the San Francisco 49ers. And he offered one of the most blanket, blatantly obvious statements I’ve ever heard. We can’t afford to have these games where we’re just not getting any points. We’ve had two of them. That killed us. News flash. Football is won when you score more points than the other team. Who knew that was the case? Thank you, Zach, for that enlightenment. It got worse, though, because Falcons fans and media members, rightly so, are still asking about this pistol offense and why on earth it’s not featuring Bejian Robinson more, why they have a lack of scoring, why they’re 28th in points per game, and Zack Robinson got super freaking defensive. I’m going to read a couple of of talking points here for you. Yeah, I think there’s I know we’ve talked about this a bunch when he was asked about the pistol last week. You guys didn’t bring it up at all and we ran for 128 yards, but I know it’s a convenient narrative each week. The back starts in the exact same location underneath the center or the pistol or and the pistol. So, we just know that there again, it’s nothing different. Obviously, our run game has so many different snap points and things that we activate with some of our tight ends, some of our receivers. That does give us a lot of versatility. You just said it gives you a lots a lot of versatility, Zach, but you just also said there’s nothing different. Am I the only one smoking on that Zack Pack, apparently? Does that not sound brain dead to you? Think about that. If my offensive coordinator said, “I don’t know what you guys are complaining about. It’s the same thing every single week. Yeah, that’s the problem, buddy. The issue is that you’re doing the same things every single week. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. And that might work against some really bad defenses, aka the Buffalo Bills, who have a a terrible run defense, the Miami Dolphins, who have a terrible run defense. You can do this against the teams of the NFL. You will not be able to do it against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You will not be able to do it against the Kansas City Chiefs. You won’t be able to do it against the Rams or any top defense that you will end up facing as you go down the playoff stretch. But remember, this isn’t just a Moose thing. The stats back what I’m saying up because remember, the Falcons entered Sunday Night Football at second in total offense in yards in the NFL. They are now a bottom five scoring offense at 18.3 points per game. That’s worse than the Bengals, the Dolphins, and the Jets. Jets are 0 and7. Just a quick little uh sidebar there for you is that I’m not the one that’s that’s creating this false narrative against Zack Robinson. The numbers are backing up what I’m saying. And like I said, I gave him credit where credit was due. I said, “Moving down to the field clearly solved some of your issues. It has not solved all of them. There’s still a lot of things going on and the fact that you’re getting defensive at the microphone just shows me that you’re not willing to adjust for this team. So, before I take off today, how hot is Zack Robinson’s hot seat? Scale it one to five. One being like it’s not hot at all. Five like I literally just lit a fire underneath. I’m going to give you my answer right after this little YouTube ad break that you’re going to get. So, make sure you get down to the comment section down below. It’s a four for me right now. I I think it’s about as close to seeing Zack Robinson out the door. I think he’s got one foot out the door. Personally, I’m not saying that I know this from anywhere. This is not a source. This is just straight from the Moose’s mouth, Moose’s opinion. I think he wants that Oklahoma State job. I think he does. I think he’s biting his time. He’s putting together uh, you know, as many games as he can. He’s going to give whatever he’s going to give to the Oklahoma State guys. They’re going to give him a fuckload of money and then he’s going to take off. That’s my honest opinion. That’s how I’m going to leave you on today’s show. But he’s definitely on the hot seat right now. This is remember why you sub. Daily videos, tons of Falcons videos, news, rumors, my opinions, your statements, everything you need in between. So, hit that sub button, turn on that notification bell, rise up, and be cool.

Falcons fans – How hot is Zac Robinson’s hot seat? Scale 1-5
If we lose, im chalking this season up. We should COOK Miami. Straight up, Dolphin steaks. Zac has to go and we need someone who can draw up some 🔥
Moose, you sir have really grown on me. The anger and frustration is appreciated and accurately reflects the feelings of true fans.
On to the falcons I don’t think we will ever be a serious contending team with Blank at helm. I haven’t seen a falcons team that wasn’t “one piece away” in the last 15 years. Raheem and Zac are definitely problems but McKay, Fontenot, and Blank are at the root. You can’t kill a weed by cutting off the stem, it must be killed from the root.
Moose you have definitely gained my respect the most after going off on that aints fan I loved it rise up brother
Atl
Yes! Please feature the comment section more and make some segments about this team by the comments
Penix needs to improve his accuracy and panic less when pressured. We have seen a glimpse of what he can be and we need to remember that he is still a rookie.

Our offense sucks donkey D
RAHEEM MORRIS ALSO NOT A HEAD COACH AT BEST HE IS A DECENT coordinator that's all FACTS.
2000 millions its on fire 🔥 and it need to be i really don't understand why he still have a job with this team, i truly want RAHEEM Morris seat hoter than Zac Robinson SO ARUTHER BLANKS I HOPE YOU SEE THIS.
I hope we don't score one point against Miami. Should be enough to get rid of Zac Robinson.
Zack brown's and needs to go like you said, and it's go to college.Cause that BS he's doing here. It's not working. He's a college coach goes.He don't know what the hell he's doing.Get the hell almost like robinson
Truly don’t understand how we can’t mimic what DET does on offense. We literally got the same makeup of players smdh! Robinson is holding this team back and morris wont be around because of him not taking action.
Moose offense looks more confused on road games. Like we are not going to keep all these OF players togathers . Drake rookie contract done after this right? If this team finishes over 500 not make playoffs , clean house coach and GM gone 👎👎
Unfortunately we have no choice on Zac Robinson. We have to wait for Miami to fire McDaniels to get him over to our coaching staff. He is a brilliant Offense mind. He just has Tua Turntheballova as his QB.
Atlanta Falcons cornerbacks and safety need to step up.
Watch we lose to Miami
Theres no way inside the locker room there isnt concern about the play calling . how many Top Ten and first round picks do you need on one offense to be productive ?
If he don’t get fired soon him and the head coach need to be fired after this season
This game still not a guaranteed win this the falcons we do dumb shit like loose to teams we suppose to win
Too many injuries. The Dolphins are desperate too. Falcons defense is not doing well versus the run. Pivotal game is the season. The Panthers are trending upward. Not good for this season.
Raheem should hire Mike McDaniel if he gets fired. I’d love him as the OC. Not a head coach as we’ve seen
Penix was a horrible choice. He looked horrible in the college championship game. He never got passed a certain level. Just like all the draft picks Fontenot is completely clueless. There is a reason for 7 not 2 or 3 but 7 losing season in a row. Blank and Mckay you two have no idea what you are doing.
Blank this is a situation that must change, ATL fans do not deserve to be on the other end or your dumb decisions you have to sell the team now. Sell it Blank! You loser!!
ATL
"Def. coordinators that I talked to in the offseason tell us how difficult that is to defend just in terms of the versatility…"
No way in hell he actually thinks that running the same WR tunnel screen, to the same target, multiple times in the same damn game is "versatile"
I miss the day of a good old play fake with a hard sell on the handoff
Moose, why the HELL do you look like zac robinson😅😂
It feels to me like the coaches doesn't trust penix to take shots down field!
We definitely need a new OC and we need Matt Ryan to coach Penix.
No you're right Moose!! I want to believe too, but there's an old saying in this league, You are what your record says you are. Unfortunately, we are a .500 football team. Unfortunately, there is a pattern of poor coaching and poor coaching decisions. There is not good enough schemes to get guys open! Sometimes to get your best players open you might even target and design plays for your 3rd and 4th options to take heat off your one's and two's! And you certainly should also have many more plays in my opinion where you've got Bijan and Tyler Algier in the backfield at the same time. Algier Loves to hit guys! Have some plays where he's the fullback for Bijan, When Bijan goes out as a receiver you can do a delayed hand off or pass to Tyler and have an option on a cross to another receiver or Pitts! We could very easily lose these next 2 with how up and down we've been. Go .500 over these next 2 and at that even making a wild card may be challenging. Go 0- 2 over these next 2 and you're most likely done at 3 and 5. This team was flying high and laid an egg against Carolina big time. Even on days where the offense did enough to win the game, could have easily lost it. Pennix is still learning but this is more than that. And I'm not just talking about the offensive coordinator, I'm talking about our head coach. If you're going to go for it on 4th and 1 and the Best Player in football is gonna be standing on the sideline, then you better pull the offense off the field and send out the kicking unit and try to tie it because the 49ers saw that and said ALRIGHT! If your head coach is doing the right thing, he calls a time out at a critical point in the game when you've got a chance to at least tie and go ask Zac why Bijan isn't on the field? He's the head coach he can tell him, I don't care what play you run but if Bijan isn't on the field he's not a threat. We had a good offensive coordinator in this town in 2016 and had a Super Bowl won had Dan Quinn stepped in after the incredible Ryan to Julio throw and that didn't work out either. Dan could have stepped in and said they've had trouble with our rushing attack all night, dial up some of your best running plays and see if Devontae breaks one. If he doesn't we kick a close field goal! That would have given the defense more time to rest and we probably ki cc k the 3 making it a 2 score game with less than a minute left. It's time we have a head coach that gives us those extra 1-3 wins a year just through managing the game and his coordinators. If he doesn't have a good answer for why Bijan isn't on the field for a 4th and 1 play and then why you only have 10 on the field on defense, that is a red flag!!!!!!

Atl baby all the way! ❤
