NHL Highlights | Canucks vs. Predators – October 23, 2025

in the preseason and he’s set to play his first game of this season here tonight against his home province team. We’re underway. Faceoff win for Elias Patterson and the puck brought ahead. There’s a nice pass Connor Garland to Evander Kane. Couldn’t get the shot through. It was blocked by Nick Pervik. And now the puck through to Sorrowos. I think Pervix’s got clipped. It’s always tighting between these two. I’m surprised you remember anything about that series, Dave. I never saw you not on Broadway. I was down there playing the drums. Here’s a chance for Kervix to move in from the right point with a wrist shot. Had saved by Demco. Shot attempt blocked as Holland tried to get it on goal. Sassing got in front of it. Here comes Quinn Hughes onto the left wing. De Brusk moves down. Br shot. Big rebound, but it deflects right to Jo, but he couldn’t move it out. Brady Shay gets the puck. Sends that to Steven Stanco. And a nice pass across. Here’s Bunting into the right wing. Michael Button shoots. Deep go up to challenge. Makes the save and he hangs on. POD I’m in the building. I’m here for the hockey. This face off is taking forever, but they drop it. Stanos with a shot. Left pass. Rebound. Deco stop bouncing as well. Now a pass for Stanos. Tipped away. Good defensive play there by Marcus Patterson. That face off. You got to be aware of what your role is, especially when you get kicked out as a centerman. and then to the wing and Demco makes the first stop, then the other one before he can even get there and then Myers makes the breakup. Craig moved the puck in. Matt Woo down the near side. Here’s Yosi puts one in front. Knocked away. Good defensive play by Heronic. Now a glove saved by Demco. The speed they like to generate in the neutral neutral zone. Here’s Wood behind the defense. Puts one in front. Spkov backhander stopped by Demco as Federkov was set up by Matt Wood. A couple of youngsters there for the Predators getting an opportunity on the bank of a goalender. Corona sends the puck in from center and hustles to the bench. Yosi starts up ahead to Luke Evangelista in over the bank for blue line with the drop feet. Shot by Joe Stanco able to keep it out. Couldn’t corral the puck but the Conucks were there to to Steven Stanos presence Adam or pardon me Andrew Bernett. Talk about it this morning. There’s a shot by Yosi. Nice deflection and a better save from Thatcher Demco. Bunson frees up the puck and sent to the blue line. Brady Sheay fakes the shot now. Lets it go. Demco the save and he covers the puck with Matt Wood right there in a battle with Marcus Patterson. Besser to Brusk below the goal line. Here’s Person. De Brus cuts in front. Centers the puck. Garland on the back end and went right into the midsection of the goalender. Then Garland. So he’s got two options in front. He’s got Garland or all the way across to Besser who’s got his feet on the goal line. A right hand shot and knock that in. But Garland gets the toe of the stick on it. Soros three and they’re going to start with two defenseman. They’re going to start with a Vander Kane as well up front with Patterson and Connor Garland. So this is just the straight up forward line. But now Forsick gets the puck knocked off his stick. Yosi backing up. The Conucks might have a two-on-one shorthanded here. Here’s Okconor moving in. He shoots. Stopped by Soros who was out to challenge. Reach behind him just in case. That puck was trickling through, but that was he was going to charge onto this puck. He could have, but I think because it was wobbling, he thought I might not be be able to get the blade fully on it. No, Connor, the shooter. Both Pittsburgh and Nashville will play against each other in Sweden. That’s right. In November, the Globe Series. Here’s a steal and a breakaway shorthanded keeper. Sherwood stopped by Jussi Sorrowos and his pass gets through to Shane. Works it on to O’Reilly and he’ll tip the puck deep into the Vancouver zone. What looked like a glorious opportunity. Whoa, there’s one and Demco a marvelous save off Matt Wood. We come back. This chance for young Matt Wood and Pat Thatcher Demco said no. Baron under pressure. Patterson centers. Here’s Garland behind the goal. Conor Garland carries to the corner. Feeds back. penalty coming up here. There’s a onetime glove saved by Saros. I think it was Patterson who got dumped through without Nick Heg their offseason acquisition and Jonathan Pareso as well. Here’s a lead feed and breaking in as De Brusk. He shoots up to make the save as Soros de Brus gets to loose one centers and Besser missed it. Scoring chance off the rush but then we’re getting a little bit too particular about passing it around. Sherwood pass never got to him. Predators have a chance. Shorthanded. O’Reilly has just in front. O’Reilly scores. [Applause] Shorthanded goal for Ryan O’Reilly. His third of the season. And it’s one- nothing Nashville. Intercepting things in the neutral zone. And O’Reilly sees he’s got a twoonone chance, but he’s thinking shot all the way. And the release just fuels Demco on the glove hand side. Pretz open the scoring short-handed [Applause] into the corner for Kefir Sherwood. Puck sent back. Heronic with room. Fakes the slap shot. Steps around and that glove saved by Soros just as Holla steps back out of the box. Keeper Sherwood to set up Ronic. Little dangle there and it’s Matt Wood. And now Carlson emerges with the puck. Elias Patterson would like to get off the ice here and he’ll be able to as Sassin brings it in cutting it on goal. Max Sass scores his third of the year. Max Sassin ties the game with 811 to go in the second. Sassin with a nifty shot and that speed to burn and Sassin just burst away. Spenceman thinks he has him but no. And then Solos isn’t settled quite yet. You see his left leg kind of bending thinking he’s going to push off and go across. And instead it’s fivehole and in tie the score just the fifth game of the season with the puck out of his reach and Demco sends it around. Evangelisa intercepts. Puts one in front. Backhander stopped by that Demco as he was tested there by Fetchcom. Now another shot through traffic and that winds up in the near corner. 420 to go in the second. A 1-1 tie. It’s getting a little frantic here in Nashville as Aander Kane brings the puck ahead. Feeds Sassin who’s in on the left wing again. Max Sassin leaves for Kane whose shot is stopped by Jussi Saros. Svetchkov ahead to Jo. Now it’s four Predators to center. Jo. Pervvis into the middle. Svetkco near side and Angelista. Stopped by Deco. Got the right pad down. We’re in the final minute. Second period. A 1-1 tie. on as we get set to embark on the third. Thatchard Hemone goal for the Conucks. You see Sorrowos for the hometown Predators. Conucks have had five power plays in this game. Just two for Nashville. McCarron and Meyers after the puck. Smith is there for Nashville. Works it free to Wisblad across. Perfect shoots. Deco came out to challenge and steered that puck into the corner. It was Sherwood ahead for round two. lets the puck go through. Here’s Okconor trying to get behind Stass and he cuts in on goal. Stopped. Sherwin after the rebound and it’s cleared away. So good this evening. This is Okconor though. Drew Oconor going to the backand try to get it. Now the puck to the blue line. Justin Baron drags it to the left point. Baron long wrist shot gets behind Demco and pulled off the line but the referee says it was in. Marcus Patterson diving back. looked like he saved a goal, but the referee says it crossed the line and the puck trickling past Demco. 2-1 Predators lead and just squeaks through, but I mean barely. There’s the battle of the front of the net. Puck rolling. This will give you a better view. It goes up over and there is some white ice there. Referee right on it. Deflected in front. I think Cole Smith is one that got it down and then as he’s trying to put it over the line. He’s being checked. Demco holds his stick from top. Matt Wood gets the puck. Lead feed trying to spring Forsber. It’s off his stick and deep of Vancouver zone. O’Reilly centers. Wood stopped by Demco. There was some room up top as he spun at the side. Stopped in and Person’s arm went up. Here’s the chance by Matt Wood and Demco with the glove over the pad. Hits the although I don’t think he was the initial target. Here’s a chance for Hughes. Quinn Hughes cuts left. He shoots and McCarron with that long reach able to tip the puck wide. Hughes again takes a look shoots. Stop. Rebound clear. Kept in by Heronic. Baines off the bench. Breaks things up as the Predators move the puck in. But now they send it back. Here’s Yoshi shooting. fought off by Demco but reached up with the glove while going down to his knees to knock the puck away. Quinn Hughes into the middle for Meyers. Passes off Garland. Meyers with room. Passes to Hughes. Puts one on net. Tipped on goal stop by Soros and he covers the puck after stopping that redirect off the stick of Brock Besser. Besser back in the lineup. Watch his stick get open there for the deflection and then Soros was scrambling around trying to find that puck. Thought there’d be some late game heroics by Besser. He’s done in this building before. Down low. Garland centers and Besser’s denied by the right pad of Jussi Sorrows. A game saving stunt for the Nashville goalender. Predators clear and the Predators win. [Music]

Ryan O’Reilly opened the scoring for the Nashville Predators while Cole Smith potted the game-winning goal in the third period as the Predators beat the Vancouver Canucks 2-1.

  1. Tough loss but onto the next it was a pretty solid road trip all around too bad they couldn’t cash in on the power-play I don’t know how many games they played what was at like three games and six nights I don’t know but it was a solid road trip.

  2. It's mindblowing how much a non factor EP40 has been for over a year and fans on threads like this state how he's looking up and up if he scores the odd goal and blocks a couple shots

  3. Let’s face it, the Canucks have never been very good in recent history. The Big Blocker has been covering for a multitude of hockey sin. He’s back and in form, now that they’ve lost too many pieces and way overpaid the softest ‘superstar’ in history. Enjoy hockey purgatory Canuck fans.

  4. Garland and Sherwood are the top Canuck forwards. The last calendar year proves this beyond a doubt, and obviously, with all due respect, Garland is superior to Sherwood. EP40 lol. Boeser…..shameful money for terrible players

  5. I remember when Demko first joined the club, how he was always out of position and just a sieve. He's come such a long way and has worked hard to become a top-tier goalie. Despite the loss, he's still just amazing.

  6. Well done, Preds. You made it back into the win column. I would say that I am hopeful for a turn in the right direction, but I am not optimistic about that.

  7. Honestly it's a lack of urgency and no lust to win. They aren't palying like they mean it. Sad sad stuff. Ya i get it lots of injuries but you have to skate, battle, and take the game to the enemy. Might as well rest up and forfeit if you're not going to try.

  8. No we have to look at the manager, and coaches, trailers thats where you start to do change then defending the goal there we know the goalie is not the problem, next to passing up the rink to putting the puck in the net.
    Demko great

Garland great player and for trying to get a spark going can't beat that

Sherwood he doing good for getting to the net

Boeser back and should get better as he heals

Quinn needs someone to pass back and forth that can shoot from the corners

Need someone to block goalie eyes with hands and eye from changing puck angles into net

  9. This comment section is what is wrong with Canucks fans. Look at the comments under the Caps game for example, so positive and every 'arm-chair-analyst' is stroking their meat to how good the Canucks are. Then the tail end of the roadtrip comes and we lose two games, all of a sudden the team is falling to bits. Get a grip. You're making me despise my own city and team.

  10. Had 5 powerplays, gave up a shorty and got outshot by double digits. Demko just putting up another casual 30+ save performance. Guess you could blame it on them being tired and it being the end of the road trip, but Vancouver is getting peppered hard seemingly every game.

  11. what do the Pred's fans chant on their goals?
I swear it sounds like they're saying "Hey you suck" whichobviously can't be true since that would be pretty retrded

  12. Holy sh1t Canucks "fans".. What a bunch of whiney losers some of you are. 4-4-0 is not a terrible start, especially after a 5 game road trip.
Such part-time princesses. You moan almost as much a Leafs fans..
