Carolina Hurricanes at Colorado Avalanche | FULL Overtime Highlights – October 23, 2025

So here we go for the shootout. ABS on the season 0 for one. Only person who’s actually scored the shootout is Valushi. We’ve got two tallies tonight. Yeah, I’d say the odds of him being a shooter here are 100%. Had a heck of a game and as you said scored and the only other shootout they had have. So here we go. Seth Jarvis will get the go first for the Whalers. First of the year. Miner caling his crease right. Look at him. Here we go. Jarvis is in through the circle. Jarvis scores. A nice move by Seth Jarvis. That guy has so much talent. He’s got more talent in his finger than I do in my whole hand. Just back and forth and then makes minor bite. Comes back to the far post. Sweet goal. Here comes Valusha again. already has a shootout goal this year. He’s got two tallies on the night, picks up speed, carries it in down the wing. Now works it to the top of the circles, looks down the slot. Nushkin shoots and a save by Anderson. He lost that puck for a split-second motion. I think that went from a deep move to a shot. Watch as he comes in right there. And once you lose it, you kind of got to make sure you just get the shot off. Good save, Anderson. Yeah, killed all the momentum. Up next is Fetchnikov. Left-handed shot picks it up, winds his way, looking down the slot. Feet was in, shoots it wide to the net. So the ABS had the chance to get even now. The bench is pretty animated. Right. Yeah. Wildly talented player. Comes in weaving like a river. Tries to go far side jump. Minor was there. Marty Nishious. Here we go against his former club. His first shoot out of the season. What will he do? Rice. Puck got away. He’ll pick it back up. Looks down the slot. Nas is in. Shoots and a save by Anderson with the glove. That would have been sweet justice. Of course, these two guys will know each other well. Nas trying to go high glove and you don’t think he got that quite high enough. Watching Glove is poised as strong. Top corners there. I think he kind of missed the shot. Here’s Jackson Blake. He can win it for the Whalers. Gets the go ahead through the circle. Blake is in. Miner is there. Safe by Trip Miner. Nice play. Nice poise. Jackson Blake, former North Dakota fighting suit just like his dad was. Jason Blake kind of baits him and fights that off with the block. Here comes Artori Lechin and he has to score to keep it alive. Crowd on his feet here at Ball Arena. Lechan works it in. Anderson stares him down. Lean into the slot. Shoots and a save by Freddy Anderson and that’s going to do it. What a game for Frederick Anderson. He made 44 saves through regulation in overtime and he shuts the ABS out in the shootout to win it five to four. What a topsyturvy game. On one hand, you got to give the ABS a ton of credit for scoring three goals and coming back into this third period. That’s a hard fought point, but Mo with the way the shots were, the power play at the end of the four felt like the ABS deserved to win here. But they sure uh sure impressed me by able to come back in that game, push it to overtime.

  1. It was a fun watch and loved the Jerseys. 8 PP for Colorado? Really? Should never have gone past regulation. I still don't believe you can score a goal with your glove. That's at least one PP that shouldn't have happened. I need to look at the rule book to understand that one.

  2. It never would've gotten to OT if the refs didn't allow someone to score with their hand. Didn't expect the Hurricanes to win this going in, with all their injuries, but then it turned out the Avs were the ones to steal a point.

Love both teams, but the officiating was all over the place
