Mac Jones jokes Christian McCaffrey owes him after getting tackled in 49ers’ win | NBC Sports BA

Mac, while you guys were limited through the air tonight, the running game, best game of the season. What can you say about the job that Christian McCaffrey did tonight? And why do you think you guys were successful running the ball? Yeah, it was awesome. I mean, the offensive line did a great job and Brendle went out early and and Matt Hennessy came in and operated the system and Christian and uh B- Rob did a great job. Me and Bro were talking this week about how it was going to be a big week for for both Christian and him and they got it done. So, it’s really awesome. And Christian also got tackled inside the five twice on a pass, so he owes me, but he got his touchdowns. He did. He doubled the total touchdowns, rushing touchdowns for the season tonight, just himself. Um, you mentioned Matt Hennessy coming in. How difficult is that as a center to be able to come in? Obviously, a next manup mentality is what you guys have had to play with all season long, but speak to the job that he did tonight. Yeah, amazing. I mean, all five worked together and got it done. And Matt, I was joking with him about how it was revenge week for him because he used to be on the Falcons. So, we were laughing about it and didn’t know if he was going to play it or not, but he he came in and was ready to go. And um I mean, he’s he’s been the center for Hall of Fame quarterback and Matt Ryan, so he knows what to do. Um he’s the man and he did a great job tonight. One thing about George KD’s play is that it doesn’t always show up on the the stat sheet. Obviously, receiving tonight, no stats for George KD there, but he affects the run game in an impressive way. Do you think he impacted the success you guys had in the run game tonight? Yeah, for sure. I mean, most passes they had two or three guys on him, so is what it is. But I know he wants to do more there, but he’s a team player and he was so happy we got to win and he was just happy to be out there. Honestly, I think he just wanted to get back out there and play and uh we’ll do a better job, me specifically, of getting him in the ball and um we’ll take all the wins we can get at this point in the year and um where we’re sitting at, we got to be happy with it, but a lot of work to do. This was such a big game for you guys. Your first game without Nick Bosa and Fred Warner. Obviously the first game, full game without Fred Warner. Was there extra motivation tonight kind of plan for Fred? Yeah, I mean Fred’s the man. Seeing him on the jumbotron was was awesome, but also tough. Like you’re like supposed to be out here with us. And um he’s just so happy for us that we won. And I think Tatum and all the guys and defense did a great job to hold that offense to 10 points is exceptional when everyone said they couldn’t do it, so they did it. And I know they’re going to be hungry to do it again. Yeah. Back to Fred, too. The impact that he had. He was out on the field before tonight’s game after undergoing surgery not long ago. Um what did he say? Our viewers have heard a little bit about what he said after that injury, a motivational speech that he gave you guys. Can you give us some more insight into what Fred said to the team? Yeah, I mean, I’m not going to give everything away, but I think what he was just trying to say was that he’s has a very strong foundation and uh he was going to be good and and he wanted us to just go out there and finish the season strong uh knowing that it’s going to be without him. But uh I know he’s going to help us in doing his rehab and stuff and I mean he’s a Hall of Fame player. It’s like you can’t replace the guy. So, it’s really hard, but really proud of the guys, like the way they played for him and um he’s going to keep helping everybody on the team, you know, with film study and all that stuff. I know that’s what he’s going to do. The Rams also got a win today, but obviously you guys hold the tiebreaker against them. You sit at top the NFC West still after this win tonight. What’s your reaction to that? Uh it’s awesome. I mean, still young in the season and I mean, you want to be have a winning record at this point and that’s important and every game’s going to be important from here on out. So, um, can’t take any of them for granted and, um, you know, we’re not even halfway there. So, we got to keep pushing and, uh, take it one day at a time. Mac, thanks. All right, cool. Thank you.

  1. First off, the interviewer is 🔥. Second, Mac is a cool dude. His demeanor is that of a kid but on the field he’s a dog. His throws come out super quick. He’s a starter. He may be a top 15 qb. It’s nice to have two starting caliber qbs.

  2. Laura Britt continues to ask the same sort of questions that provide zero insight. She should really practice her craft by watching others who do it much better than herself which is practically everyone. But you can't expect much from someone who thought it would be cute to name her child brittney so her nickname can be Brit. Brit Britt. Seriously, someone should call CPS on her for what she is going to put that child through in school. 😂

P.S. NBC Sports Bay area should be ashamed of itself. NBC Sports Boston runs laps around your on-air talent. It's like Bay Area is the red headed step child of the company.

  3. I wouldn't start brock again until mac jones falters..He's earned it..Seems so long ago purdy was the starter..Jones runs shanahan's system better and is a more accurate long ball passer
