🚨DEVELOPING Saints Trade Rumors: New Orleans TRADING A WR? MULTIPLE TEAMS INTERESTED!
[Music] We got a developing situation after a report recently dropped. Multiple teams are monitoring Chris Olive and Rasheed Shahed ahead of the November 4th trade deadline. My name is Trisy Trace Gerard. You’re watching Saints Now by Chat Sports. And let’s have a conversation about keeping or trading both of these players. Now, there’s a handful of teams out there that need some wide receivers, and there are reports out there that wide receiver needy teams are interested in trading for the pass catchers in New Orleans. Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos. Those are all teams that come to mind. But then there’s also the Atlanta Falcons, and some other squads out there that could use a wide receiver. The Saints aren’t going to make an interdivisional trade. But like I said, the trade deadline, November 4th. It’s just a few days away. It’s going to be here before you know it. And there’s a lot that could happen between now and November 4th. So, make sure you subscribe, turn on your notifications so you can get news, trade rumors, updates because it’s not going away anytime soon. It’s not slowing down. November 4th will be here before you know it. You don’t want to miss a thing. Now, Jordan Schulz was the one who put out the report around Chris Olive and Rasheed Shahed. Two wide receivers in New Orleans. Dave and Shahid are being monitored by wide receiver needy teams ahead of the trade deadline per sources. As we said, both are set to become a free agent. Wait, that’s not right. Going to take a second in there in a moment. Um, with the Saints sitting at one and six, several teams are wondering if New Orleans might move on to gain future assets. Now, I want to just say one thing for what it’s worth. Jordy learn ball Chris Olive becomes an unrestricted free agent 2027. Um, the Saints picked up his fifth year option. Simple Google search would have done wonders there. Long story short, Jordan Schultz did reply to my reply calling him out saying, “Hey, by the way, Lauren Ball.” Um, and he corrected it and was like, “Oh, yeah, no, it is, you know, 2027, whatever.” Long story short, there is an extension conversation in the works right now in New Orleans around Chris Ave. This isn’t anything new. We’ve talked about this extension multiple times here on the channel and I want to emphasize just like there’s no sense of urgency to trade Chris because you still have him under contract through next season too. There’s no sense of urgency to go and extend him right here right now from both sides. I would say one being Chris Ave may want to get that insurance and get that security for the long term because one more hit he could really suffer and he really will want that money and that security. Now, the other side of the coin is the Saints may be able to get him at a good price right now slash Chris Olave, if he waits, might be able to get more money. So, there’s a lot of things that could go on here. All in all, I don’t think an extension is going to happen anytime soon, but it is something that’s been in the works. Olve confirmed that. The reports from Diana Rini were that they were working on a contract extension. And so, that is something that I do think will end up happening. But if the Saints end up trading or keeping Chris Ave and extending him, that leaves the door open to a Rasheed Shahed trade. And personally, I would crash out. I would cry. I would be very upset if we split up this duo. I don’t want to lose Rasheed Shahed. I I simply am just not in the business of moving off of explosive playmakers on an offense that lacks explosive plays. So, in my opinion, if I had to trade one, you know, life or death here, I’m going to say Chris Olive simply for the fact that I think you could get more in return. But I’m going to ask you the question. If you had to trade one, let me know in the comments. We asked this in our live chat, our poll of over 100 votes, 76% said Chris Olive. I’m interested to see if the YouTube comment section feels the same way. Now, we’re going to talk more about this trade report and why I would potentially keep or trade both these players because you got to play devil’s advocate. Got to explore both sides. Saints are one and six. You have to have a conversation. First things first, got to thank today’s presenting sponsor and that is Prize Picks this episode of Saints Now by Chat Sports. You’ll get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. It’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. All that information is available in the comments and description of this video. Shout out to prize picks where it’s good to be right now. I want to make one thing explicitly clear here. This is a warning that I have heeded. Heed my warning. I think that’s the right way to do that. Um, this is the thing that I’ve actually said multiple times and I’m not going to back down from this stance. Proceed with caution if you’re going to trade a wide receiver. I’m not saying that the Saints cannot do it. You might have to just to recoup some draft capital. You have five picks going into the 2026 draft and you have way more than five needs. But proceed with caution. The wide receiver room is already extremely thin. If you move off of Chris L or uh Rasheed Shahed, you’re then left with the other player, Brandon Cooks, Mason Typton, and Devon Vele. Now, over on the practice squad, you do have some other players that could potentially be elevated. You have Kevin Austin Jr., Dante Pettis, Ronnie Bell, who recently signed. So, maybe those are guys that would get elevated to the game day roster. But all in all, it’s still really not that juicy of a wide receiver room. And call me crazy. I think any quarterback would have a hard time succeeding with a wide receiver room lacking one of or both of those weapons. No, let’s have the conversation of trade or keep both of these players. Starting with Chris Olive. Why would we trade him? Well, there’s an injury history there. The concussions are definitely something that’s, you know, concerning and it’s a serious injury. You want to take that very, very seriously. if he suffers another concussion and you pay him a lot of money, man, your Michael Thomas situation again and that blows. Um, you would also get to push back paying a wide receiver one contract to a player and I think that you would actually be able to recoup some nice compensation in terms of trade value for Chris Olive. But if you were to keep him, I think it also makes sense. He’s one of the best players on the offense. No question about it. The wide receiver room, as we already took a look at, it’s really, really thin. and he’s a player who I still believe have believe has tremendous upside and so for trading Chris Ave unless it’s an offer you can’t refuse and same with Rashid Shahed I would say you’re better off keeping them and look there is a way to keep both players in New Orleans it may not be a a great way it may be unconventional it may not be something that’s super basic it may take a little bit of creativity but there are ways to keep both of these players in New Orleans the question that the Saints have to answer is do they want to pay them both. Both are repped by the same people, interesting enough. So, one could influence the other and maybe we could see Chris Olive take a little bit of a hometown discount because he wants to stay here. He wants to put pen to paper. He wants to have the job security. He wants to have the money. He wants to have his future set up. And maybe that will inspire Rasheed Shahid to do the same thing. But I also can’t blame either of these guys for saying, you know what, I deserve a lot of money and I’m I’m going to go and, you know, wait out and try to make money. And if that’s the case, the Saints obviously should consider moving off these players. Now, let’s go to Rashid Shahed here. 27 years old, he’s on the final year of his contract, and I do believe he could seek a decent payday. I think that he’s a player who has been really good throughout his career. He’s been very underrated, has made a very big impact in a very short sample size for the New Orleans Saints, one of the best deep threats in the entire National Football League. So, yeah, you could get something in return and it would be pretty nice to turn an undrafted free agent into day two pick, a early day three pick. Like, not bad. But I also think trading him away is risky. He’s one of the best deep threats, like I said, in the entire National Football League. One of the fastest players in the entire league. And the Saints lack offensive weapons and they lack explosive players. And they struggle creating explosive plays. They struggle scoring. They struggle moving the ball downfield and finishing drives. They can move the ball up the field, then punt it away or miss a field goal or kick a field goal, but they struggle to get touchdowns. They struggle to score. They struggle to finish. And so I think if you move off of a player like Rashid Shahed that would be a little bit of a silly decision and I think that it would massively hinder the development of the quarterbacks regardless of if you trade Olive or Rasheed Shahid. Now to be totally honest if we traded Rashid Shahid I would be absolutely devastated. Uh I’ve said it before I will crash out. I will be very sad. I will probably cry. I was one of the first guys if not the first person on the Rashid Shahid hype train. I mean that’s that’s my sweet prince. That’s my Pookie Bear. I don’t want to see him go anywhere. I want to see him retire as Saint I I I would hate to see him go anywhere. But the end of the day, business is business and you got to make decisions and sometimes those are tough decisions, especially when you’re in the midst of a rebuild. They trade Rashid Shahid, I’ll be really, really sad. And I’ll tell you right now, you won’t want to miss that live show because it will be a generational uh crash out from your boy. Now, before we go to this question, I have one last point I want to make with the there’s a way they both they they both players stay in New Orleans. Thing that also just kind of came to mind here was the fact that the New Orleans Saints, they can wait to extend Chris Ave into the off seasonason. They can kind of create that money, move some of these other players around, trade some of these other guys, these veterans or whatever. Pete Warner, Alante Taylor, Carl Granderson, for example. you can trade away some of those types of players, Brandon Cooks or something and create be able to create the cap space and create the money. So like there is a way. I don’t exactly know how to get there. I’m just a dude with a microphone who has a YouTube channel, but there is a way and I’m praying the Saints find that way. Now, how many trades will the Saints make? Zero, one, two, 10? What do you think? I think at least one. Like I’m going to be honest. If I had to make a guess on who I think will 100% get traded, I think Pete Warner is a guy who could be on the move. Appreciate you guys for rocking and rolling with us here on Saints Now by Chat Sports. Hope you guys enjoyed today’s video. We got a developing situation to monitor with a trade among Chris and Rashid Shahed for wide receiver needy teams. They are interested and like I said, we will have you notified if anything happens. The thing is the team says trying to get an extension. Key word trying. Chris probably wants WR1 money and he’s not worth it.
Trace, moving a receiver or two doesn’t do anything because neither Olave or Shaheed are playing very well. I’d rather trade them both and get picks.
Trace I believe you are way OVER valuing both Olave and Shaheed
Im trading olave because since he came in he been under average he misses way to much balls and stays hurt sick of keeping players off name
Mason Tipton had an incredible preseason
Trade Vele for a 4th round pick. After 7 games Vele only has 4 receptions for 29 yards and only 1 TD.
Chris Olave wants a contract like Ja'Marr Chase or Justin Jefferson.
So we gonna pay him because we have to before he gets one more hit amd he's done? So once we pay him and he takes that big hit we just gonna have to pay for someone who's in protocol I'll pay him 4 year 6 million I think that's fair
Trade Mickey Loomis.
What's the most realistic way to make money from crypto investing?no hype, just something that works?
CO
3 trades
Trace what do you think would happen if we trade a receiver… What we will lose… We already losing with them. Trade everyone you can and get picks to rebuild this team. Don't forget we have jaylin Polk next year as well
So losing these wideouts just not a big deal Bec we are terrible and no QB on this roster will benefit from these receivers because there's a lack of arm talent in the QB room
CO
RS
trade Chris Olave He'll get you a 2nd round and probly a 5th
