NHL Highlights | Blackhawks vs. Lightning – October 23, 2025
Can Vaselki make it 14 in a row in the regular season against the Blackhawks? We’re about to find out. Our starting lineups brought to you by American Express across the bottom of your screen. Certainly not that. That’s not the bare minimum. That’s not what they’re going for. They want to go for a deep run. You look at the Hawks on the other side and they’re not even trying to make the playoffs right now necessarily. K across the line with Bazar. Twoon one. Shoots pass. Save made. The left toe kicked out by Vaselpi. understand where they are in their rebuild. They don’t want to finish last. He has been skated out by Cooerov. Celli on his right. Cucherov goes left instead for Hegel. Nice poke check by Renzel. Turned over though. Cucherov has it. Shoots off the outside of the net. Coocherov throws it in front and it escapes of Hegel. Cucherov tries again. This time for Celli. He’s tied up by Slagert and Doc clears the zone. Nice stick again by Renel. A terrific young defenseman. He sets up Doc in the slot. Gets it up. Fle the rebound. Somehow trickles off the stick of Doc. I think it was Hegel on the Renzel on the blue line there. Comes in and it’s a great back check by Tampa, but Colton Doc. They almost bury it and Felo almost gets one there too. These two teams are two of the most penalized in the NHL. Power play goals in four of the last five games as well for Chicago. Uzi works the goal line in front. Score. A quick step for Nazar. Perfectly set up by Bertusi. It’s a power play goal that gets Chicago on the board midway through the first. Well, that didn’t take very long at all. They they get possession of the puck right off the beat up. And you know, watching it didn’t look very dynamic. There wasn’t a lot of movement coming out of the corner and you just look at Frank Nazar. He’s not covered up in some a little bit of frustration there. Look at Hegel right after the goal. sort of shrugs his his shoulders cuz nobody is covering him. They’re in a box there. In some ways, they have to go a little bit more, maybe protect that middle of the ice, especially when you have Nikita Cooerov whips a tape to tape pass to Celli off to Hegel hoping for a return. Creier said no. Here’s Cooerov shoot by Knight. Cooerov overs skated the rebound. He’s one of the best scorers yet still, as you said, Bob, he can’t beat Spencer Knight right here. Spencer Knight does a good job anticipating seeing him coming in out of his out of the left. So about a minute plus of four time open ice for Celli who peels pivots and brings it to the high slot. Wrist shot wide of Knight wraparound try hugging the post. night took one away from Hegel obviously 101st career start had his hundth the other night against Anaheim Jones trade with the Florida Panthers across the line coo drops one and goes to net the return tried to bank it out in front off the bench shot Mcdana launches one from the point the lightning are on the board we are tied at on Gensel I think got the tip. Gensel’s leading the fly by here. He gets the tip and Cra puts him up with this top line. They take advantage of the Blackhawks cannot get the puck out of the zone. They have a trouble with it and then they can’t get into their defensive zone structure. So what does Lightning do? Cut off right here gets a chance. That was almost a gimme. Sort of surprised that he didn’t get more frustrated, but he stayed with it. puts the puck out high and Ryan Mcdana who is two goals already this year puts the puck on net but it’s I think it’s right here we’re going to see the tip from Jake Gensel gets it finally they find a way to solve Spencer Knight and how do they do it chaos look at the chaos in front of number 30 in that shot blocked by McDonald a shot blocking machine top seven in NHL history the other way to drag wrist shot off the postgel caught iron Moser to the loose puck create that chaos and then Brandon Hegel post almost gets the go-ahad goal here and Spencer Knight gets a piece of it. Douglas with a long reach missed that centering pass ends up with Headman. That shot knuckle balls in deflected save. Another save by Knight. Chopping at it was Chaffy on the doorstep. Intercept by Mcdana. Runs out to the neutral zone. Donado across the line. Penalty up. Donado shoots stick to power. Oh, what a ripping wrist from Tonado to give Chicago the lead. First, he was known for his shot, for his offense, power play specialist, not necessarily a great skater. He’s worked on all of that. But what I like about this, when you watch him skating, his he gets his head up. He’s got shoulder checks. He’s looking over his right shoulder. Who do I have with me? What’s going on? There is a clearly called on interference there that will be negated. But when Donado looks and he has this space on Chernack, he just finds the former first round pick too. Not not drafted by though wheels around save. Vaselki point blank shot pass. Gensel racing down the right wing. Gensel rink wide. Coocherov shoots and made by Knight and he covers up the rebound on the edge of the crease. Pushing the D back and that opens up that center seam pass over to Coocher. Forehand to forehand and then a great save there. Screw to Coocher off the one touch to Mcdana. Mcdana drops. Coocher carries. Cooer off. Centering pass. Score. Give and go. Mcdana off the feet from Cooerov. Oh, how pretty was that? And the Lightning have tied it at two. What a pass by Nikita Coutro going on. And then he comes up with a beauty like this. Draws all the attention. Three guys on Chicago looking down there down towards Coutro. He draws all the attention and Ryan Mcdana gets his third of the season on this beauty pass. Watch Mcdana too. He goes over and then he backs out. So he starts to drive in and then he back. The winning pedigree of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Chicago has not backed down against a goalender they’ve never beaten in the regular season. Andre Basilki 13-0 against the Blackhawks in his career regular season play. We begin the third with a dead even game. Loose puck at the half wall. Doc can’t clear. Held in by Moser. Drops one. Some room for head to shovel toward the net. loose in the slot and Slagger cleans it up. Possible oddman rush across the line. Felino on his right. Slagger to the forehand. Bodies crash towards the net as well. It’s amazing when you look at the some of the frustration he showed. Gonzalez a steal. Works it into the blue paint. That shot. Kaggel on net. Knight makes the save. In that switch with Cuchov and that tenacity, the puck pursuit by Gonzalez. Looks like he’s going to go for a pass early, but point right back across. That’s a return checked by Kaiser. Protects the puck at the half wall. Gets a one-time wide. Coocherov hooks it. No, it does not go. It’s behind Knight and stays out of the cage. Look at that frustration. He was so close. This is going to be a great angle as Spencer. He comes in and just grabs it right there off the post. I initially with my naked eye. He has to head to the bench. Donado controls. Donado has the crease. Shovel towards the net. Oh, save made by Vaselki. Offensive clear. And that’ll do it for the power play. Over skated by Kaiser. Possible oddman rush. Moving in is Homeberg. Shoot. Save made by Knight. The rebound. Another save by Knight. Point blank. He took one away from Yanni Gore. Movements. He doesn’t have to make any heroic saves. He makes a good one here. Square to the puck off Homeberg. And then the rebound is there and he is able to take that second chance. 47 seconds to go in the fouron four. Agel could not beat Donado out of the zone. Give away. Green in front. Floats it just wide. Vaselki challenged him at the other end. Surprises right here. Puck comes to him, jumps out and challenges Vasilleski. Isn’t able to figure it out. And then at the other end, off floats one ahead for Yanni Gore. could not get past Kaiser. Supported as well by Docer off though first to the puck. Throws it out in front. Makes the save. Gonzalez wheeler at the post. Gage Gonzalez rings one off the left post. There is a post goalie’s best friend. Gage Gonzalez whacks the post but Spencer Knight doesn’t let it buy him. The return to Cooerov. Nice skip by Terrain. Terrain lobs. Nazar on the move. Shoots second. The rebound score. Donado does it again off the save of a Nazar shot by Vaselpski. The rebound. Wide open net. Chicago’s got the lead. Fifth goal in four games. And watch this play. It’s defensively. It’s Totan. Not only does he strip the puck in the defensive zone, but he’s got the heads up play to not just jam it up ahead to Ryan Donado who’s in front of him, but to put it an area pass. He puts it into space. He knows that Frank Nazar is one of the fastest players out here. Put it into space. Trust that your teammate’s going to win that foot race and he does. And Nazar, you got fast left. He comes out four and the clock is right. Point on the draw. Pulls it. That shot blocked. It went off Gensel. Coocherov had a chance on a perfectly won faceoff and it went right off Jake Gensel. And the block
Ryan Donato scored a pair of goals, Spencer Knight turned away 29 shots on the night, and the Chicago Blackhawks earned a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

She hated giving Chicago any credit for how they played tonight.
Bad day for Nikita.
Let’s go keep it rolling hawks
Молодцы Чикаго . С заслуженной победой .
'Это п и э д е ц, проиграли всем, моя любимая команда!!!
CHICAGO😄✊ 😎🧦✌ Красавчики… 😋🔥🔥🔥🔥👍
Pre season I thought they'd be bottom 10. Right now I wanna say they flirt with a wildcard spot
Anytime the lightning loses its a good day
"bobby" knight!!
Тампа пробивает дно! Одна победа!
Два рашиста #86 #88 обкакались😂😅
Love seeing this Tampa team tumble.
Молодцы, на классе размотали
People leaving with 53 seconds left, they are no fans. Thats for sure.
It's still early, but the league seems to be shifting. We might have some surprising teams missing the playoffs this season.
See all the red in the crowd?
Waww
Ужасный сон для Тампы продолжается
Watching Kucherov pass a puck is pure art.
нехуангос задонатил в ближнюю….
Bolts are cooked.
Куч конечно привез победную(
Teräväinen so underrated
Чикаго!
to see Nikita having 10+ chances to score and then make a turnover at the last minute of the game… well, it's harsh.
Tampa is having a rough start, but they need to keep going!
What on earth is wrong with tampa? Im confused..
Spencer Knight won that game for the Hawks!
Who's idea was it to have women commentators…should be booted in balls.
I am a sexist I guess because I just can't stand any of these women who call hockey games. Feel sorry for the men who have been in AHL calling games for many, many years and these women just get the job because they are women.
Hawks looking really really good, and still have a lot of room for improvement, pretty scary
Crowd cheers for blackhawks seems canned. I could be wrong
Vasi looking slow 😮
