  3. Let’s be honest though, at the end of that game the Islanders were taking whatever liberties they wanted, and not a single Red Wing gave any of it back to them. Team needs to get a backbone, quick.

    Ras is a big dude and should have gotten up and hammered Cizikas.

  5. I miss Witkowski, Givani and Perron. Absolutely would’ve started hammering people if they saw this crap. I love our team and the skill we’re developing, but I feel like Chiarot is the only one who jumps in when stuff like this happens. And as we saw, he at best only does it sometimes. Wish one of these skill guys also was maybe a little short fused and would drop the gloves for the team more easily.

    EDIT: to be fair to Chiarot, I think he may have already broken a finger earlier in the game? Pretty sure I saw him with a splint after going down the tunnel on that blocked shot.

  17. Was this before or after chariot went off? He is the only player on the roster capable of sticking up in this situation. Maybe edvinson. Seider just will not do it.

  19. The NHL *loves* the Red Wings, but we have zero spine. This is the kind of shit we mean when we say we need to be “harder to play against”.

  21. Yeah, the refs suck. But guess what? The refs have always sucked. If they don’t do their jobs, you gotta take things into your own hands or no team will respect you. 

    Sick of this team being weak and I’m sick of the excuses. Just fucking figure it out.

  22. Whatever the league does/doesn’t do is beside the point. Ras needs to let Cizikas know he’s not going to tolerate that shit. That could mean a fight, or it could mean dumping the puck into the Islanders zone and running some poor defenseman through the boards, but he’s got to do something. Doing nothing in response is completely self defeating.

  27. This team is so freaking pathetic and soft and IMO a big reason they always collapse. When it’s time to grind or on a big skid no passion. Come Feb/March teams fighting for a spot turn to playoff mode and this team just folds that time of year.

    We may hate Florida and Tampa but those teams don’t take any shit. Look at the successful Boston and LA teams 5-10 years ago. Big and physical. It’s painful to watch us get bullied. Nobody ever said a WORD to Jamie Benn even years later

  32. More importantly the red wings are a soft team physically and mentally with very little to no talent. Teams are gonna rag doll the wings all season.

  33. Problem with this team is we have nobody to stand up and put a stop to these shenanigans. We’re always getting pushed around and do nothing about it. Other teams know this and will push the boundaries until something is done about it.

  36. I’ve been reserving judgment on this year’s roster to see how they respond to this type of situation – they still aren’t playing for each other.

  38. We were out of the game by this point. The fact that we didn’t fill the penalty box and box score with misconducts in retaliation is unacceptable. Just pathetic. On Yzerman’s teams, if someone did this to a 3rd liner, the rest of the game would be absolute chaos. They’d be scared until the final whistle. I know the NHL is different, but Florida has proven its not THAT much different.

    I was mad about the score line and individual play last night but waking up today, I’m more angry that our team just sat down and watched this happen. If there aren’t sweeping lineup changes and punishment coming out of the locker-room, I’m just about done watching this iteration of trash.

He’s softer than baby shit. We have a 20 year old rookie picked in the 7th round that is half his size laying more body than a $2 lady of the evening and Ras can’t occasionally ragdoll a guy? Elmo Sodastream, you’re 9 feet tall and you play like a 5’5″ minor leaguer. You got hands and you don’t use them. You got 0 points on the year. Better start hitting somebody. Why does Larkin have to be his own enforcer? Steve, you know in your heart of hearts what this team needs, and if you have to go dig up the ghost of Bob Probert to do it, then so be it.
