QUINN HUGHES & THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS ARE CHECKED OUT: ANOTHER BAD LOSS VS THE NASHVILLE PREDATORS

[Music] I don’t know, man. This team just is not it. I’m sorry to all the Vancouver Conucks fans that wanted to see better out of this squad. But a game like this against the Nashville Predators, a 2:1 defeat on the road following what was an embarrassment against already party she loves and the Pittsburgh Penguins. It doesn’t bode well for any Vancouver Connects fans wanting to take lessons from this road trip. The fact is, even though they got wins, even though they had a three-game winning streak against Dallas, against Chicago, against the Washington Capitals, those games still had a non- ignorable amount of problems within. From the way they started out the games and how they played poorly in those opening games to how they almost choked away the lead against Washington, against Pittsburgh, you totally saw it. the offense dried up and they weren’t able to compete with the Crosby’s and the Malcans and the Brazos and going out there and scoring all those goals that they did. But then tonight against a Nashville Predators team that gifted Vancouver so many power plays, even a five on three at one point, the Vancouver Conucks could not get anything going. And there are a number of guys that I think stand out the most when you talk about Canucks players being ineffective. I think Elas Person is in there. I think Quinn Hughes deserves to be in there. I think Connor Garland is also in there, too. You know what? Because I’ve been thinking more so about Hughes the past few hours watching the game and just seeing what folks were saying on the internet. I wanted to talk about Quinn Hughes the most because does anybody else feel that this guy just looks totally checked out? Something has changed with the mentality that Quinn Hughes attacks the game with and it’s put him in a spot where now the guy moves around the offensive zone as good as ever, but his decisionm is suspect. It’s off. He’s shooting pucks from at the top of the point when he’s got passes to Elias Patterson wide open for a one-timer. Now, say what you want about Person not being willing to shoot the one-time in general, if that’s the symptom that we are seeing now of Ilas and what he brings to the game. But the fact that Quinn Hughes is trying to shoot more pucks than ever before, thinking that he’s a better shooting option than Besser or Pey on the wings, I don’t know. I’m starting to get a little bit annoyed watching the way this guy moves and how he tries to do everything himself. Is that particularly harsh? Maybe. Is it fair even? You can say maybe it’s not because Quinn Hughes and the team that he’s been given in front of him definitely lacks a lot of the star power that some of the other NHL teams have. But Quinn Hughes not trusting his teammates, not allowing them to get the puck under their stick. It’s been very noticeable the past few games here, especially on the man advantage. And this power play night for Vancouver was so bad. They had so many opportunities. They had a five on three. They couldn’t make it work. They got a short-handed goal scored against by Ryan O’Reilly and ultimately there’s nothing to show for it. Connor Garland on the man advantage. I think he doesn’t provide much of a shooting threat either, especially on the five on three when he’s not coming down the wing and taking an aggressive slap shot on the rush. Connor Garland’s regular wrist shot is a total muffin. So, him being a shooting option on the five on three doesn’t really feel like a natural place for him. If only Laramaki was still available, then I think he would be the de facto shooting option on that left side. Elas Person scored a one-timer in the preseason that was very reminiscent of the old Pey. And I think at that point a lot of Canucks fans were saying like, “Hey, you’ve got Laraamaki available on the left, you’ve got Pey on the right. If both of these guys can start to just shoot the puck like it’s nobody’s business, then that’s what we got. That’s what Vancouver can be known for.” But now it’s totally gone away. Pety’s not shooting anymore. Quinn is not giving the puck to him to shoot. Laramaki’s injured. Connor Garland’s an option there, but he’s not the best shooter in the world. Like, Vancouver’s man advantage play was so stale and totally ineffective in this game against Nashville that I’m starting to feel that even though there’s been so many injuries, like the team is not nearly close to 100%. It’s like a 70% team right now based on who’s available and who’s actually playing. But if this is the decision-making that we’re going to see out of the Vancouver Conucks, it becomes very difficult to fully believe in this team as a playoff contender. And maybe that’s overreacting to one game against Nashville or two games against Nashville in Pittsburgh. But if you’re a Vancouver Canucks fan and you’ve been watching this team for a while, if you’ve been watching the games, if you’ve seen how last year’s team was able to move around and do their thing, and you watch how this year’s team tries to do the same thing, not even saying that they were good last year, but I’m just trying to say that this team is totally checking out here. They need another center so badly. They had themselves a brief moment in this game where they had three wingers on the line. And as for Captain Quinn, I mean, you know, that phrasing keeps on popping into my head again. Oh, checked out. I was checked out personally watching this game when it was down two to one. I was like, “Yeah, no, that’s it. It’s over.” You could tell the team was not going to be able to come back. This wasn’t the same comeback Conucks of 2024 where Brock Besser and Nikita Zadorov would go out there and score super clutch goals to bring them back and win games. You don’t have JT Miller feeding Brock anymore, so he is obviously not going to be as effective. And Quinn doesn’t even look like he’s locked in in the same way anymore. Is it frustration due to his injuries from last year? Is he hurt this year? Is he just mentally a New Jersey Devil at this point? I don’t know. But from the way the guy’s playing, it looks like he’s checked out. Adam Foot, like, we can talk all we want about whether or not this is his fault. Is it his fault that this is the roster that the Canucks have? It’s like, wow, they let Pia Sudter go in free agency. They use the money that they could have had to sign him to acquire Aander Kane, who was a winger and who’s not a very good one at that. Early returns are looking terrible. Like, I don’t know, man. Is this like is this too much? Is this too much to harp on the Vancouver Conucks for? I think a lot of these problems that we are discussing right now, they would have been apparent if we looked at the team objectively back in the summer. But at the same time, there was a lot of hope that the best case scenario would happen for all of these guys. Okay. Well, what happens if Person looks amazing? If Quinn looks amazing, if Evander Kane has a bounceback year, if Braden Coots makes the team and he looks like a stud? If everybody stays healthy, a Filipino looks like the top six center like he could be. If everything works, then everything works and that’s amazing. But now that we are seeing the injuries, now that guys are getting hurt, it’s bringing the worst out of the rest of this lineup. And Quinn Hughes, Ilas Person, these guys don’t look like the gamechanging superstars we know they could be. And that was very evident in the game against Pittsburgh. And it’s even more evident today against the Nashville Predators of all teams. I get that the Pittsburgh Penguins are actually to be taken seriously this season. Like I mentioned this in the previous video, but Sergey Babroski, Florida versus Pittsburgh today. I started him over Joey Dord in my fantasy. Guess what? Babroski led in five goals on 16 shots against a whopping six something save percentage. He’s literally going to lose me my week in fantasy because of that one game. Thanks Sid. Thanks Pittsburgh. Thanks for going out there and totally ruining my day, my week. But I guess the penguins are to be taken seriously this year. The Predators though, h you’re going to have to take a little bit more time to convince me on that one. Either way, you can let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. How do you feel about the Vancouver Conucks and their big loss today against the Nashville Predators? Things are not really looking good for this team right now. And I have no idea how we as fans are supposed to respond to that. So, you can let me know your thoughts in the comments section below. If you enjoyed this video, feel free to hit the like button. 1. Quinns lack of expression in the post game press was very telling. It's like he just couldn't be bothered. The lights are on but no body is home. Yup, gone to New Jersey…

  2. Quinn Hughes has been in New Jersey since this summer and never came back, such a shitty spot to put Canucks in with devils having 2 of the brothers and Quinn being a baby and screwing us over because we won’t get anything for him

  3. This team hates each other. Seems like Quinn was full team JT and just hates EP11.6. This is getting Jets vs Laine in 2019 when the whole team just hated one guy on the team and it brought everything down.

  4. I have been a Canuck fan from 1960 , the Tony Esposito year where he was the only player worth watching to the great Andy Bathgate years . I have finally had it , I am sick of a small , slow team . I am tired of being bunched in with the SABERS , ISLANDERS . FLYERS. ATLANTA . I want an owner who will commit to a total rebuild . No more hats , no more jerseys , no more watching the Canucks live or on T.V . I am 73 years old and this team has finally broke me.
