OCTOBER 22, 2025 | NETS VS HORNETS | NBA REGULAR SEASON | LIVE FULL GAME SIMULATION | NBA 2K26
We’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. It’s opening day in the NBA. Thanks for joining us as we start the new season. Brian Anderson here, joined by our analysts, Hall of Famers Grant Hill and Doris Burke. Plus, reporting from the sidelines, Ali Leforce. And a chance now to look at the schedule for the Charlotte Hornets. On Saturday, they’ll be playing against Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers. And then on Sunday, they’re off to Washington to face off with the Wizards. The road is never the highlight of your schedule for any team. But for these guys, it is a chance to go out there, test themselves, and see how well they gel outside of home court. It could be a very valuable experience. And check it out Brooklyn’s opening lineup. Porter Jr. and Clowney in it forward. Dimmond at the one with Thomas at the two. And it’s Claxton in at the five. And for the Hornets, Bridges at the four with Plumbley at center, Paul and Miller at the one and the two. And it’s Conutton in at the small forward position. Feels like just yesterday we were watching the NBA Finals, Doris. Now a brand new season is getting started. Doesn’t feel like yesterday to me. I’ve been dying for some NBA hoops all summer. Let’s tip it up. Damn man, that’s good. Just taking it right to the rim and no one was there to greet him. I think defensively that is not the way you want to start. Giving up high percentage looks that doesn’t typically end well. Now here’s Bridges. Knocks it down from distance. Ball shot ready always. Here’s DM pass to Claxton [Applause] inside. Here’s Porter. And then Porter with the dunk. Huge size disadvantage for the defense. Might as well just get out of the way. And here’s Miller. He’ll bring it up for the Hornets. Over Thomas. And the shot no good. A bit short. Porter looks it over. Here’s Thimon. Good ball movement here by Brooklyn. Pass to Claxton. shoots over ball and there’s another one for Brooklyn. That’s a great beginning. Three for three from the floor. Now here’s Ball. Not a lot of room. Porter with the steel in transition. Here comes Brooklyn. And then Porter with the dunk. And nice read by Porter Jr. surveys the floor and gets in the right spot to finish. Ball with it. Miller outside. Back to ball. [Applause] Lays it up and banks it in. Ball’s got five now. Well, the size LaMelo ball brings to his position helps him finish on the interior, even against tough coverage. Wow. Here’s Dimmond. Pass to Cloney. Launches it. Sinks it from distance. Impressive. Five straight makes. Love the play calling here. Here’s Ball. Now here’s Plumbley. It’s Bridges on the wing. Ball outside and he lobbs it up and stolen by Claxton. [Applause] Here’s Dimmon. Pounded by Ball. Pass to Clowny. Now Porter [Applause] counted. All three of his attempts have gone in. I mean, just hitting all their shots early. What an offensive game plan. It must be to coaching. And last season, the Hornets with the second most games missed to injury. Always tough to overcome significant injuries, especially if it’s a rebuilding team. And the other part of that, BA, is it’s complicating their ability to evaluate the talent that they do have. All of that requires help. You hope that’s on the horizon. And the shot clock expires. 24 violation. [Applause] Nets leading by eight. Thomas outside on the wing. Porter. Just under three and a half minutes elapsed here in the first quarter. Clowny good. This has been just a dreadful start for them defensively. Not good at all. And here’s Miller. He’ll bring it up for Charlotte. Plumbley. A screen on Thomas. Pass the ball to stop the run. Knocks down the triple. Ball’s got eight. A situation made for LaMelo. Ball. Anything you can do, I can do better. The Nets have gone a perfect seven for seven. Thomas outside. And here’s Porter. It’s Thomas on the wing. Lets it fly and Claxton throws it down. Boy, the defense has got to find a way to keep Claxton off the backboards cuz this is just a mental mistake letting him get to that board. Now here’s ball defense right on him. Plumbley up top. Back to ball. Shot clock at six. [Applause] The rebound by Demon. Nets leading by 10. Pass to Clowney. Now here’s Claxton. Pounded by Ball and Claxton gets the bucket. He has six. And they’ve settled in quickly today. A nice flowing rhythm to their offense. Now here’s Ball. Give him eight. [Music] Bridges outside. [Applause] Pass to Miller. He drains it as the shot clock ticks down. Yeah, I like whenever Miller uses his size to his advantage, especially down near the rim. Here’s Cody. Thomas outside out to the right wing. Here’s Clowny. Claxton against Plumbley. And count the basket. He was fouled and he’s going to the line for one more. and a moment to look at the scoring approach in terms of where the points are coming from for the Nets. Well, guys, early on they’re driving the lane constantly, using their quickness to gain an advantage. Look at their points off penetration. And they’ve also shown dominance in the paint so far tonight. Really putting the work in down low. Free throw no good for Claxton. Nick Claxton to me, guys, one of those great energy guys. You know what you can expect from him night after night. Incredible effort defensively, shot blocking, and a vertical threat at the rim on the offensive end. Off to a fantastic start. He’s four for five. Watch out. The 11-footer. Dimmond. Pass to Clowney. Takes a three hits the trifecta. Clown’s got nine points. And I’m just impressed with their effort here early. They’ve hit the offensive glass so hard. Plumbley. A screen on Thomas. Now here’s ball. That shot is off. Some solid defense from Claxton to the paint. Here’s Thomas. And the rebound goes to the Hornets. They’re getting their first look of the season at Brooklyn in this one. These teams split the season series last year. neither making an impact in the conference overall. Now here’s Miller out to the right wing. Plumbley passes to Ball. Clowny pulls it in. Brooklyn leading by 13. And you think back, not many point guards have combined the vision with the frame of a LaMelo ball. I mean, he’s 6’7 or even taller. You think about it, it’s just a short list. You think of Luca Donuch, Penny Hardway, Magic Johnson. That combination of size and court awareness is hard to stop. Here’s Bridges following the bucket by Brooklyn. And there’s the 3second call. This one on the defense. Charlotte shooting their first free throw tonight. Bridges shooting one. One shot. That’s good from Bridges. And we’re joined now by Shams Girania. He’s calling in with a story. Good to have you, Shams. What’s going on? Well, the Nets trading this summer for Michael Porter Jr. And after playing a complimentary role in Denver with Nicole Yogic and Jamal Murray, he now becomes a focal point. He said he’s not really a big city guy with all the traffic, but listen, he can expect plenty of crowding every time he touches the ball. He can heat up in a hurry. CHS, thank you. Rejected by Claxton. Love rim protection from Nick Claxton. That is a big time block. Porter gets the bucket. The offensive game plan is clear. get it inside and go to work. They have used their size and their strength to get off any shot they want. They’ve dominated on the interior. Hornets trail by 16 now. Ball. He’s got 10. There’s a screen. Oh, he took a hard foul on the shot. So, he’ll head to the line to shoot a pair. It’s on Nick Claxton. Woo! The superb athleticism of Miles Bridges just creates so many challenges for the defense, particularly when he gets inside. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. First free throw is good. Guys, what we’ve come to learn about Miles Bridges is this guy is a force on the offensive end. Whether he’s inside or outside, you know, he’s going to be aggressive trying to put the ball in the basket. Caniples checked in for Charlotte. Man comes in for LaMelo Ball. Bridges hits them both. And Grant the Hornets as of last season with a new front office trying to evaluate their young talent. Yeah, tough to do when you have so many injuries. 36 different lineups last season. They need help to assess and to develop. And keeping us updated from the sideline, Ally Leforce. Thanks a lot. The Hornets are trying to create a winning environment. Coach Charles Lee said, quote, “We know this is a young team, so I want culture enhancers who help us build with their hard work and creativity.” Having that energy coming into the building every day is the most important thing, guys. Look at this. Set the standard, Allie. Thank you. Unselfish play by Miles Bridges right there. The team wants more of that. And Brooklyn with possession here. They lead by 14. on the wing. Porter Claxton finds Porter [Applause] outside. Williams pass to Thomas. Five on the clock. Hornets with the rebound. Well, that’s surprising. This guy is a good mid-range shooter. Just can’t get it to go. Here’s Diabate. to the middle and the dunk to finish it off. A beauty. Not the tallest center in the league. He more than makes up for it with those crazy hops. Williams shot is good. They have no answer defensively inside. And here’s man. Still no points. Pass to Diabate. Now Bridges. He’s guarded by Porter. Oh, nice finish from the low block. That one’s good. Boy, that’s solid work on the interior. I love how assertive Miles Bridges is on the offensive end. Outside for Porter. Good ball movement here by Brooklyn. Thomas outside. Two minutes remaining in the post. Two minutes. Six to shoot from outside the ark. That shot off the mark. Listen, things aren’t going his way right now, but listen, you just keep going. Keep working at it. Outside man. Pass to Bridges down low. Charlotte needs to get off a shot. The three is up. Man misses. Nets leading by 12. Porter. The pass to Thomas and he gets it to go. Now two of six in the game. It’s impossible to win when you give up second and third chances to score. And Charles Lee wants a timeout. He’s going to take a moment to give him a breather and talk things over [Music] noisy. [Applause] Let’s go. [Applause] Heat up here. Heat. Heat. [Applause] Salon. He’s checked in for Bridges. Brooklyn making a switch here. And right here, the 2K leaderboard shows us which teams made the most of their second chance opportunities last year. Charlotte fourth. Second chance points were crucial to their offensive production. So they work to maximize that strength. Hornets trail by 14. Up top man. He’s scoreless. Charlotte no good that time either. And they’ve come out with a fearless approach on the boards. Here’s that Ten. He’s guarded by man. Here’s Wilson. That three is off the mark. Charlotte has gone two for three from outside the ark. [Applause] 41 seconds left in the opening quarter and there’s a whistle that goes on Terrence man. That’s his first foul and Charlotte making a change here. Bridges is checked in. Substitution on the court. There’s 37 seconds left in the first quarter of the game. to the inside. [Applause] Diabate shot is good. Diabate’s got six points. Nets leading by 12. Outside man. [Applause] And that’s good. His first bucket of the game. And early on they’ve been on a tear just getting whatever they want offensively. Well, what I love is the game plan has been solid from the opening tip and guys are making their shots. That’s critical. Pass to Canipple. 3 seconds left and that’s two points on the layup. Michael Porter. He’s been the guy making things happen for Brooklyn. He put together 10 points in the quarter. More 2K action in just a moment. [Music] We welcome you back to second quarter action. Plenty of basketball left to play, but this one has been one-sided so far. Boy, the Nets have been rolling along, haven’t they? Well, clearly they played well in the first period because of their selfless attitude. I’ll tell you that willingness to make the extra pass. That is what creates good looks. It also forces the defense to scramble. They’ve got Miles Bridges Trey Man out there with Colin Ston. Then it’s Canipple and it’s Dioate in at the five. That’s the group starting the second quarter for the Hornets. Brooklyn leading by 10. Outside man has to sharp. Here’s Wilson. Good ball movement here by Brooklyn. And here is Williams. Shot clock at five. Sharpest screen on Sexton. Williams misses. If he’s got that much space, he’s got the green light. He just doesn’t make it. Bridges passes to man. [Music] It’s Bridges on the wing. He’s guarded by man. [Music] Plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and he’ll take two free throws now. Well, few descriptions more glowing than saying a player is clutch. What, in your opinion, Grant, enables a player to be that way? You know, BA, it’s about confidence and command. When you’re able to process and execute under the pressure, both internal and external, that’s when you have a chance to be clutch. [Applause] He makes a first and the Nets looking to improve in particular offensively. Doris, I mean, there’s no doubt there is not a category within which they didn’t struggle on the offensive end. Missed shots, turnovers, you name it. On the other side, they do force quite a few turnovers themselves. Their games can have a very chaotic feel. So, he picks up just one from the line that time. And Grant, the Nets have shown the capacity to rebuild quickly in the past. They’re playing in a big market helps, but they’ve pivoted decisively from their big three era and have the picks and flexibility to make moves. Boy, certainly looked like the defense was okay letting him shoot from three, but let’s remember he can hit some of these. Pass to Kipple. They set the pick. The three on target from range’s got five now. The rookie conciple with the confident answer. A three of his own after the one on the other side. Man the pass to Williams. [Applause] Back to man. Here’s Highmith. Three-pointer. And again, it’s Brooklyn from deep. And you have to think that they’re leading this game because of how they’ve controlled the boards tonight. Bridges outside. Shot from the wing. Brooklyn pulls it in. At one point they led by 16. Looking ahead, they’ve got the Cavaliers coming to town for their next one. And that’s a one-ame home stand for the club. Sharpest green on Ston. Here’s Williams. [Applause] Outside man, [Applause] lets the three fly. Caniple with a rebound. Hornets trail by 12. [Music] And here in the second quarter, about 3 minutes played. back to man and he floats it in for the easy two. Credit the sweet setup on that one and their offensive game plan is clear. Get it inside and go to work. And so the timeout by Jordi Fernandez here and we might see some changes. coach potentially looking to adjust. If you see yourself, if you know what to do, you know what to do. [Applause] You’re on the victory. Look at those moves. [Applause] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Romelo Ball. He’s checked in for Charlotte. Brooklyn also changing it up. Clowny, he’s checked in for Heismith. Porter Jr. comes in for Wilson. Demon comes in for Williams. [Applause] down low. Here’s Demond. Gets it to go. That makes him two for three in this game. That’s been typical of their performance today. They’re sharing the ball and creating good shots from the line. Oh, love to see ball attack inside. Wow. LaMelo is always a tough matchup, but tonight almost impossible. Outside Sharp inside. Here’s Porter. Oh, he’s been flawless tonight. Now he’s six for six. credit their discipline. They’ve been working for high percentage shots. And so it’s Paul with it. He brings it up for the Hornets. Down by 12. Bridges outside. Back to ball. Six on the shot clock. Ball outworks the contact inside. individually. He’s trying to lift the team. You’ve got to love the effort, but thus far not getting over the top. Nets leading by 10. And when it comes to adding sizzle to the stake, just watch LaMelo Baldors. I love that PA. Certainly entertainment is a big aspect of this young man’s game. The fancy dribbling, the no look passes, the range on three-point shooting. He alone can be worth the price of a ticket. Slams it down with two hands. Man, they’re really getting aggressive now. The Hornets have gotten five of their first six attempts to fall in the second. Here’s Kipple. He’s guarded by Porter with the step back. Charity stripe shot. Brooklyn pulls it in. At one point they led by 16. You have to credit their effort. I mean, they’ve done an amazing job on the glass. Pass to Demon. Here’s Clowney. The crossover and he drains it. A solid five for six now. Boy, this guy making the most of his chances here. Really giving his team a lift. Portage trail by 14. [Music] Here’s Ball. 14 points for him. LaMelo Ball showing off that facilitation. That is pretty pick and roll basketball. Here’s man outside. Sharp. Here’s Dimmon. Sharp. A screen on ball. Back to Sharp. Oh, a nice one-handed slam right there. Nice one-handed jam. Simple and effective. PA, hey, with the lead, I’m surprised he didn’t come up with something a little more creative. [Music] [Applause] Ball outside. Ball into the lane. Yes, it’s good. Ball’s got six in the quarter. Well, this is exactly what you want from LaMelo Ball attacking the rim off the drive. And so the timeout by Jordie Fernandez here, he’s going to talk it over with his guys. Everyone get loud and give it up for your high hip hop crew. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] So, it’s both teams making substitutions here. [Applause] [Applause] Nets leading by 12. Thomas outside. Pass to Demon. Good ball movement here by Brooklyn. [Applause] Miller against Thomas. That one doesn’t drop. Great D that time from Miller. Charlotte has gone three of four from distance in this game. Conson passes to Miller. [Applause] Ball right side. [Applause] Clock at six. Brooklyn pulls it in. Jim’s got four rebounds now. and he drives in and it’s good for two. Demons got four points in the quarter and the defense has no one to blame but themselves. I mean, they just let him get right to the rim. To me, this has simply stated been a complete lack of defensive attention and focus all night long. And let’s send it over to Ally Leforce. Thanks a lot, Brian. Many have predicted an all-star future for Brandon Miller. He said, “I don’t really read anything like that. I just focus on what I can do today. It’s all about the work. That’s the only way to get better. I just came in with the mindset of making my team better and being a winning player. Back to you, Brian. Okay, Ally. Thanks a lot. Mind the lanes. Mind the lanes. One shot. That’s good from Bridges. And this is year two for coach Charles Lee at the helm of the Hornets. GR. Yeah. Ba, a long time assistant. He knocked on plenty of doors before finally securing the lead role and that determination to break through. Something he’s looking to impart to his young roster. Now, here’s Bridges. Give him eight points now. Ball outside. Miller against Thomas. Conson with a screen on Thomas. Here’s Miller. And here are the Hornets with another bucket. Boy, you’ve just seen the mid-range confidence from Brandon Miller. That’s a huge part of his development. Pass to Thomas. [Applause] And that one’s good. Thomas has got six. And just not letting up at all. I mean, you have to love this approach. You want to get the ball to the guys who make plays. One thing we’ve learned in the NBA, the game is never over. So, you’ve got to continue to score, continue to build your lead. And here’s Charlotte now following the bucket by Brooklyn. Pass the ball, fires the three. Porter pulls it in. Started out strong from three-point land. hit two in the first quarter, but he’s gone dry since. Here’s Dimmon. He’s got six. Screen by Claxton. Hey, puts up a three. Plumbley pulls down the board. Hornets trail by 11. Conson outside. Pass to Plumbley. Now here’s Bridges. Conson left side. There’s the three. The rebound by Demon. Demon’s got five rebounds in the game. And it’s Thomas off the drive. It doesn’t go for him. Great D that time from Miller. Boy, if he ever finds his footing, they’ll be in even better shape. Right now, his teammates carrying him. Here’s Conetan and he’s in the books now. One for two. I like how assertive he was making his presence felt on the interior. Pass to Porter. Thomas outside. And the rebound goes to the Hornets. [Applause] Here’s Ball again. Charlotte, boy, this guy has been absolutely outstanding this quarter. You love what he’s doing out there right now. Brooklyn leading by seven. Pass to Clowny. [Applause] And here’s Thomas. Here’s Porter. [Applause] Claxton. A screen on Conington. And here’s Porter outside. And the rebound goes to the Hornets. Miller’s got four rebounds now. [Applause] There’s a minute 26 left in the first half of this game. The shot, the rebound by the Nets. Jim’s got six rebounds in the game. Brooklyn has gone two of six from distance here in the second quarter. And after trading away a lot of their top players, the Nets going young doors. Well, they are BA. The rumor though says that they are looking to try to rebuild quickly. It’s obviously a big market, New York City. And let’s remember free agency is a viable avenue to improve and once they collect enough young assets, things can turn quickly. [Applause] And he drops a first. Ston’s checked in for Bridges. [Applause] So, he gets them both. We’ve got 108 left to play in the first half. And so, it’s ball with it. He brings it up for Charlotte. Nine-point game. [Music] Oh, hits despite the contact. This is where the size of LaMelo pays off, folks. 6’7 and ready to finish. Brooklyn’s gotten five of 11 threes to drop so far in this game. Outside Porter, [Applause] there’s the triple. Plumbley pulls down the board. Plumbley’s got a rebound number five here tonight. Brooklyn with a board. At one point they led by 16. 9 seconds separating the shot clock and game clock. Pass to Demon. Here’s Clowny. He’s got 13. And that one drops. He’s been shooting with great consistency tonight. Love to see that confident play on offense. One second left. No good. Would have counted had it gone. And that’ll do it for the first half of play. It’s the Nets up nine. And we’ll be back for the second half following the break. Keep it right here on 2K Sports. [Applause] Thanks for stopping by y’all. First up on the show tonight, a quick look ahead of some upcoming games on the docket. When I look at the Nets, you can think you know your team, but you have no idea until the real game begins. You don’t have to be a finished product right now, right out the gate. just set the table early and build from there. And now time to talk about this game. What a solid start for the Nets. Offensively, they can post you, drive it, run cutters. They’re living large in that painting area. And the defense has tried to pack it in a little, but those guys just keep coming. That’s it for us. Thanks for tuning in. Now, let’s send you over to Brian Anderson with the third period and we hope you’ve enjoyed the broadcast thus far. We’re halfway through the game. You look at LaMelo Ball in this game. He’s been everywhere. I love how effortlessly he scored. The game just comes so easy for him. And let’s see if he continues that trend the rest of the way. He certainly has the talent and the endurance to do just that. Here’s ball. And so in the game for the Nets, the tandem on the perimeter, Thomas Porter Jr., then it’s Demon. Then it’s Nicholas Claxton. And it’s Clowney in at the four. Now here’s Bridges. They trail by nine. Conson Porter to the paint. Here’s Clowning and he takes the fantastic lead pass up strong for the slam. There you go. He’s a monster at the rim. So athletic. Obviously he plays on the attack. Here’s Bridges over to the left wing. Now here’s Ball. Tight defense on him. Pass to Conetton. Six to shoot. Miller against Thomas. Launches a three. Miller can’t get it to go. Brooklyn leading by 11. It’s Thomas on the wing to the middle. Well, you see with Claxton’s leg, he can get his shot into the teeth of your coverage. That is a nice job absorbing that contact. He’s had just one attempt at the line earlier. Nicholas Braxton. Two shots. Shooting two. No good on that one. [Applause] and he misses the second one as well. So 0 for two that time. Hornets trail by 11. Pass to Miller. Puts up a three. Drops in the three. Miller’s got his third bucket of the night. Love the confidence from this young man. Miller so quick off the catch. [Applause] 90 seconds into the second half now. Here’s Clowny from 13 ft. Down it goes. Clowny’s got 19 points. The Hornets have gone just one of three in the second half. Now here’s Ball. He’s guarded closely. Plumbley. He can’t get that one to fall. Boy, what a frustrating, sluggish start to this half. Brutal. Here’s Dimmon. Pounded by Ball. He shoots a three. And it’s Dimmond missing. Charlotte is gone. Only one of three from deep here in the third. Here’s Conington. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. Cam Thomas picks one up. Charlotte shooting their seventh and eighth attempts at the foul line tonight. [Applause] Taking two shots. Two shots. He throw good Conan. He’s perfect from the line this time. And Jordy Fernandez wants a timeout. We might see him looking to make some tweaks to the strategy. Good idea to call timeout. It looked like the guys were getting some heavy legs out there. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Music] Everyone be [Applause] Brooklyn leading by eight. Pass to Claxton. Now Porter Thomas outside, six on the shot clock. Here’s Clowney connects from downtown. Clown’s got 22. A nice start to the third. Three out of four and looking good doing it. Well, grab for a late first round pick. Cam Thomas is a certified bucket. Yeah, BA. He’s got every shot in the book and he’s still rounding out the other aspects of his game, but if you need to score that he can provide. And Charles Lee wants a timeout. He might have seen something he needs to review with his guys. [Music] [Laughter] I go I [Music] go I up. Oh my go. Oh my god. Oh my god. All right, team. Make some noise. A little over two and a half minutes off the clock in this final half of play. Plumbley passes to Miller. And here’s Ball. Just five on the clock. Up and in on the layup. Ball’s got 22 points. With the size he brings to the guard position, you love to see LaMelo assert himself down low. Here’s Dimmon. Give him eight points now. Thomas outside. Pass to Porter. Thomas. A screen on Conton. Here’s Porter. That is now his seventh field goal in 10 attempts. Impressive. more points coming from inside. In that respect, they’ve been the more aggressive team. Ball with it. He’s got 22. [Music] Third quarter of basketball here. A little under three and 1/2 minutes gone by. [Music] [Applause] Shot clock at six. [Applause] The rebound by Dimmond. Dimmond’s got his seventh rebound of the game with that last one. Pass to Clowny. Now Claxton. Here’s Dimmon. Brooklyn needs to get off a shot here. Porter from outside. The rebound by Bridges. Hornets trail by 11. [Applause] And there’s the foul. It’s on Michael Porter. That’s his first foul of the game. 17 foul. Here’s Pumley. No points so far. [Music] And that puts them just one foul from the bonus. [Applause] Miller outside. Six on the shot clock. Converson with a screen on Thomas. Tries it from the top of the key. Oo, nice shot by Miller. Miller’s got nine points. Oh, phenomenal work right there. There’s times, boy, he can be tough to check. Pass to Clowny. Outside Porter. Let’s go with a three. And the rebound goes to the Hornets. Plumbley’s got rebound number eight now. [Music] Bridges outside [Music] now. ball and he loses it up top and it’s Bridges with the jam. Wow, the opportunistic Bridges sees you falling asleep defensively. Up and over the top he goes. [Applause] Brooklyn leading by seven. Here’s Dimmon. Give him eight points now. Porter gets the bucket. He’s been a piece of the puzzle tonight, but it’s a team effort. Everyone’s contributing to this lead. Bridges outside. And out of bounds, the Nets will take it. [Applause] The Nets have gotten five of eight shots to go in the third. Pass to Clowney. Here’s Demon to the inside. Here’s Porter. Ooh, lands soft on the front of the rim and drops in. And now an 11-point Brooklyn lead. Smart play there by Porter. Working his way inside to find a reliable close range look. Now Bridges ball outside and here are the Hornets with another bucket. Got to fight harder to get over those screens. You know, we see this all the time. You’re basically as a defender hoping the man misses rather than putting in the work to get over screens. And so the timeout by Jordie Fernandez here, he’s going to gather the troops and talk it over. Look who’s coming off the boat. It’s your boy. [Applause] Let’s go. [Applause] Heat up [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] here. [Music] [Applause] [Music] And he’s checked in for Porter Jr. [Applause] [Applause] Pass to Demon. Claxton. A screen on ball. baseline try and the rebound goes to the Hornets. Plumbley’s got nine rebounds in the game. Boy, he’s getting it done. And he banks in the layup. Bridges has got four points now in the quarter. Well, those are exactly the opportunity this offense is looking to create. Brooklyn leading by seven. Here’s Dimmon. Give him eight points now. Thomas outside. [Applause] Tries to break his ice and it goes as the official calls the foul. Count it and he’ll shoot one more at the line. And a look now at how the offensive approach has been going here so far for the Nets. Well, they found success off the drive, creating a lot of buckets by getting into the teeth of the defense. I think it’s also important we mention the number of assists this group has tallied. Their offense continues to just hum along right now. Catching up on the changes for Charlotte. Kabate comes in for Plumbley and it’s Colin Ston in for Conetan. Well, when you think about Cam Thomas Doris, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Well, it’s the first thing that comes into Cam’s mind, and that’s put the ball in the basket. And the ability to do it from range or off the bounce. This guy is a special offensive player. Now, here’s Miller. Nine points in the game. Clock at six. Here’s Dvate. It goes again. His sixth basket in seven tries. The defense getting out hustled on the putback. Can’t let that happen. You have got to put a body on somebody. We talk about it. add nauseium, but you’ve got to be disciplined with the box outs. Here’s Dimmon. [Applause] [Music] Oh, he tries a three. Ston grabs the board. And so it’s Sexton who brings up the ball for Charlotte. Trailing by eight. Claxton with a rebound. Claxton’s got his sixth rebound on the night. Here’s man. Shot from the low post is good. If you give him any sort of space, he’s going to attack. The Hornets have gone seven of 13 in the second half. Back to Miller. Pass the ball. Some nice passing by Charlotte here. Ston the open look. Tips it. Oh, he hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points. Diamate’s got four points in the quarter. That’s a pure effort play. Nice tip in. And that’s a skill you see in any strong offensive rebounder, isn’t it? Pass to Demon. Back to Thomas. Here’s Demon. This one for three. The rebound by Bridges. Bridges has got four rebounds in the game. At some point, do you start to think about getting others involved? It has been a struggle. Ball no good. This guy hit a couple of threes in the first half, but since then it’s been a little bit of a struggle. And there’s the lob. Ball with a steal. Pass to Diabate. The shot no good. Some solid defense from Claxton. Here’s Dimmon. Give him eight. [Applause] And the layup is good off the glass. Demons got 10 points in the game. Just one for five this quarter. You know, he wants to help his team, but not sure if shooting is the way to do it. And timeout called by Charles Lee. coach taking this moment to speak to his guys, maybe alter some of the game plan. [Applause] Time to get on your feet and take some more [Applause] take home Easter fans. We’re looking for the loudest [Applause] [Music] [Applause] It’s time for pizza. Be proud of you, fans. [Applause] Show your spirit man to the arena. Charlotte making some changes. Williams has checked in for Bridges. Caniple comes in for Miller and it’s man in for LaMelo Ball. Make a play. Now here’s man Thomas defends pass to Canipple from deep three-point land. An absolute bomb from three-point range. Canipple’s got eight. Yeah, I got a feeling Canipple’s going to hit a lot of those in his career. He’s got a terrific stroke from long range. Brooklyn leading by seven. Here’s Wilson. Down low. Here’s Thomas. A minute 53 left in the third quarter of the game. And he got the whistle on the way up. So, he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. Well, such aggression from Cam Thomas. We’re accustomed to that. He uses that up fake to get that defender in a bad spot. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] First free throw is good. Well, for Cam Thomas, obviously the whole conversation about why he’s in the league is his scoring ability. And I think the next step for him, he’s got to start to be able to playmate for his teammates. Michael Porter, he’s checked in for Wilson. [Applause] And both free throws good for Thomas. Well, this is what we’ve come to expect from him, right? Excellence at the foul line. Now here’s Ston. The D’s right on him. Pass to man. Three-pointer and Charlotte. Another three. Their defense has to do a better job of smothering those shooters. Now here’s Thomas. He’s guarded by man to the paint. Here’s Porter. And then Porter with the dunk. And he’s finding the bottom of the net consistently. Porter Jr. is scoring with ease. 121 left in the third quarter. [Applause] Ston looking around inside. Here’s Dvate and he takes that one up and powers it through. Now BA, you know they would love for him to get more of those opportunities. Well, that would cut into the deficit quickly if he does. And Thomas has got the ball here for Brooklyn. At one point they led by 16 outside Sharp. Back to Thomas down to five on the shot clock. Sinks the tray. Thomas has got 14 points for the game. This is what Thomas has to do to be most effective. Make an impact from three-point territory. We’ve got 33 seconds left to play in the third quarter. To the paint. Here’s Diabate and he throws it down. What a terrific lead pass. Well, one thing you know coming out of pick and roll action. Trey man is looking for scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. Now here’s Thomas. He’s got 14 outside. Sharp down low. And there’s Porter on the assist from Sharp. Porter’s got 22. And this is how you execute through contact. Porter Jr. out working the defense in style. Here’s Ston. Oh, no good on the last second attempt there. And we’ve watched three so far in this one. Nets out in front up by nine. Don’t go anywhere. The final quarter is coming up next on 2K Sports. [Music] And it’s time to bring up the State Farm assist of the game. And I’ll tell you what, this was a nobrainer tonight. Take a look at the precision on this feed. Couldn’t place it any better. And when you’re the beneficiary of a pass that good, you better deliver. And he did just that. The fourth quarter has arrived. So good to have you with us. Nets leading by nine. We’ve got Colin Ston Canipple out there with Miles Bridges. Then there’s Trey Man. And it’s Diabate in at the pivot spot, banning the middle. That’s the Hornets five. Porter gets the bucket. Yeah, when you’re as good as Porter Jr. is at finding the bottom of the bucket, you dare the defense to try to stop him outside. Ston. Here’s the pick. Rebounded by the Nets. Porter’s got four rebounds now. Outside Williams outside man. It’s rebounded by Charlotte. A little over a minute of the fourth quarter gone now. Outside man back to Bridges. That’s Canipple. A nice passing by Charlotte here. Another shot from behind the ark and the three-pointer goes. Another great pro from my alma mada Ka nipple making a name for himself. I mean this guy has a fantastic J. Now here’s man defense is right there. Now here’s Williams to the middle. Here’s Sharp and he lays it up and in. And the Nets lead by 10. Yeah, their defense is starting to wear down. That’s three straight buckets at the rim. And we’re about two minutes into the fourth now. [Music] outside man. Now here’s Bridges. Oh, it’s his 10th basket on 12 tries. You got to appreciate the efficiency here. Yeah, just doing his part, staying active and converting at a high rate. And he has really kept them in this one. The high effort level. Now the rest of the team has got to step up. Woo! Defensively, you can’t afford to let him get to the rim that easily. Well, that might be why their deficit is what it is right now. I’ll tell you, you can’t get stops if you’re unwilling to put in the work for Charlotte. They’ve gotten half of their attempts to fall in the fourth. Two for four now. Man, the pass to Bridges. [Applause] Pass to Sexton over Williams and it’s Ston that time on the assist from Bridges. Bridges has got nine assists in the game. Great passing and stolen by Bridges on the wingman. 43 drains the triple and it’s now only a five-point Brooklyn lead. Come on now. And the Hornets making a change here. Balls checked in and a change for the Nets. Claxton’s checked in for Charlotte. They’ve gotten four shots out of six attempts to drop so far in the fourth. And we’ve got a timeout called by Charles Lee. He was quite emphatic demanding the timeout. Clearly wanting to address strategy with his team. What is our chance? Get ready everyone. You see yourself on the screen and you show us your best. Let’s go. [Applause] Oh, that’s nice. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. a moment to hear from Alli the Force. Well, over the break, I listened to Charles Lee talk to his team. He told his guys not to lose hope, saying to them, “It’s a long game, fellas, and we’re in this one. But I need each one of you to step up your intensity right now. Let’s see if coach’s message resonates, guys. And Ally, thanks. [Applause] Well, if you’re just tuning in, welcome. We played about 3 and 1/2 minutes into the fourth quarter here. Outside Ston, here’s Diabate. Pass to Caniple. Fires the three. Gets the three ball to go. Can’s got nine points now in the second half. Their ball movement on this run has been tremendous. It’s led to a lot of good clean open looks. Here’s Mans. And so he draws the foul. Headed to the line to shoot a pair. It’s going to be on Miles Bridges at the line for the Knicks. Terrence Man shooting two shots. The first one falls. He’s off on the second. Here’s Charlotte. They’re on a 13-5 run. Here’s Kipple. Bridges outside. Pass to Dioate. [Applause] Four on the clock. And here’s Caniple from the arc. Williams grabs the board. He didn’t make them pay for that weak defense, but they just can’t rely on him to miss those kind of shots. And the basket is good. And the Nets lead by five. Woo! Just selling the defense on the pump fake. And ball will bring it up here for the Hornets. Pass to Bridges. Jacks up a three. He buries it from three. Man, they’re having a hard time defending the triple. That’s three in a row for Brooklyn. And they’ve gotten four or five attempts to fall so far in the fourth. Outside man. Screen by Claxton. [Applause] And that one’s good. Man, it’s winning time. And that’s a winning play. Hornets trail by four [Music] now. Ball. Six to shoot. Here’s the three. Brooklyn pulls it in. At one point they led by 16. Then the pass to Williams. Ston grabs the board. The Hornets have gotten six of 10 attempts to drop in the fourth quarter. To the inside and it’s Bridges with the jam. Miles Bridges up in the air above the rim. That is a show. Look out below. The Mets have gotten five of their seven shots to fall in this final quarter. Down low. Here’s Porter. And then Porter with the dunk. Both teams trying to impose their will right now. Yeah, and the slams just keep getting better and better for Charlotte. They’ve gone seven for 11 so far in the fourth. Unloads from 13. Ston misses. Brooklyn leading by four. Porter. The pass to man. Back to Porter. Pass to Williams. Diabate grabs the board. Diabate’s got five rebounds in the game. Now ball. Here’s Dioate. He’s guarded by Clon. Oh, and that was no question. How powered it down. His daytime on the rim puts a sweet cherry on top. NBA. It’s a close game and those displays of explosiveness can jumpst start a team. Now here’s man to the paint. Oh, got a piece of it. Ball outside driving in. Claxton with the block. Look at the wings man of Nick Claxton on display. He sets that thing back. Brooklyn making some changes. Clowny, he’s checked in for Wilson. Thomas comes in for Williams. Demon comes in for man. [Applause] Bridges outside. Converson outside. Just five to shoot. Pass to Plumbley. Miller outside to take the lead. Claxton with a rebound. Claxton’s got his eighth rebound here tonight on the wing. Porter, he’s guarded by Bridges. Now Thomas wing shot on the way. Fumbly pulls down the board. This game is so close. One or two plays could make the difference. It’s so imperative to try to make each trip count. Here’s Conington for three. Bridges rebounded by the Nets. Porter’s got his fifth rebound in this one. The one reason this game is so tight is because both teams are hitting the boards with reckless abandon. The defense there doing whatever they can to protect the rim. Second team at the line taking two shots. [Applause] Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] First one falls for him. [Applause] So, one for two that time at the strike. Hornets trail by three. And here’s Conson. Bridges outside. to the middle inside. Here’s Plumbley. No good there. Some solid defense from Claxton. Brooklyn leading by three. Out to the wing and stolen by Bridges. Pass to Ball. An easy two on the layup. Ball’s got 26 points. And this is just typical of him. Always making an impact at crucial moments in the game. This is a player who understands when the game is hanging in the balance. He knows it’s winning time. Here’s Cloudy. And here’s Porter outside. Plumbley pulls down the board. And they’re set to take control of this game. It’s crucial that they convert here. Miller outside. [Applause] Shot clock at six. Here’s Paul to take the lead. Oh, Claxton with a rebound. Now Thomas, it’s stolen by Pumbley. Wow. Miles Bridges cool under the moment. That is beautifully done. Brooklyn trailing. Thompson outside. Here’s Clowny. Porter outside. Yes, sir. With the three. This guy has earned a reputation for handling pressure and making clutch shots. Miller outside. Plumbley with it. Ball fires from distance. LaMelo Ball. LaMelo Ball relishes these moments. That young man has no fear. Thomas with the ball. He’s picked up by Miller. Miller against Thomas. Hard to shoot. Hook loose and they forced the shot clock violation. Great deed. You can’t have that type of miscue in this moment in this game. You have to be on the same page. The Hornets with the lead. A minute 20 left to play in the fourth. Boom. You love how LaMelo uses the contact to get to the line. This guy’s IQ on the offensive end is something else. [Applause] [Applause] He hits the first one and that’ll put him up two. Guys, LMO Ball is one of the most popular players with the younger generation. And I think it’s the flare and the style and the freedom he brings to the game of basketball. [Applause] And so he drops them both and it’s a three-point game. Well, this is the exact guy you would pick to take that shot. Beautifully done. Thomas against Miller. Thomas outside. Six on the shot clock. Here’s Claxton. Boy, you love to see that. That’s where Nick Claxton carving space and drawing contact. That’s big time. and that hurts as he doesn’t get the first one to fall. Trying to focus now for the second And the second of two is good. And that brings him within two here. And they need to play good defense here. That trip to the line helped and hurt. Now here’s ball tightly guarded. Oh, it doesn’t go in transition. Here comes Brooklyn Porter and he sinks the jumper. Been great to see guys who don’t back down under pressure. To me, more often than not, when you attack, good things happen. And it’s Charles Lee calling timeout here. And coach didn’t want to take any chances in this situation, which is why he called the to0. Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] Heat. [Music] [Applause] Heat. [Applause] 9 seconds separating the shot clock and game clock. Ball right side. Oh, Claxton with a rebound and Jordy Fernandez calls timeout.
