🚨REACTION🚨 Albert Pujols Will NOT Be Angels Manager in 2026 #RepTheHalo #GoHalos #Angels #LTBU

Well, it looks like Albert Plesus is not going to be the manager of the Angels in 2026. What’s going on everybody? John Fr, one half of Locked On Angels. A ton of different reporters uh are sourcing the fact that Albert Pulse and the Angels are no longer talking about him being the manager next year. Uh he’s no longer considered a candidate for the Angels manager position. Look, it comes down to money. It comes down to years. It comes down to coaching staff. All the things that I’m sure Albert wanted to do, the Angels were like, “Well, that’s going to cost too much money.” So, that’s probably what happened. And are any of us surprised? Honestly, like they’re going to cheap out on a managerial position. They’re going to cheap out on coaching staff. They’re going to cheap out on potential players over the offseason. It’s what they do. So, none of this should come as a surprise to any of us. I know the personal services contract that Albert had, the million dollars a year, there’s about seven years left on that. I know that’s come up in conversation, but here’s the thing. It’s Nolan Void no matter where he goes, whether that’s here in Anaheim or somewhere else. And there’s about what, six managerial positions open across MLB, which is very rare. So, it’s not as if the Angels are in a position to demand certain things. It’s not like they’re in a position to be like, “Oh, yeah, we we’re we’re in the playoffs every year and we can you definitely want to be here.” No. No. Absolutely not. They they have no ground. They have no hand. They have no ground. And so pools, don’t stake your reputation on this team and go somewhere like the Padres’s or the Orioles where you know the Orioles are on the rise of course and the Padres’s are already there and they just need a little something to get over the hump. But uh run away as far as you can Albert Pulse because uh that seems to be the typical Angel’s way is uh making themselves feel more important than they actually are. There’s a number of other candidates. Mike and I are going to discuss all of this on Locked on Angels.

  1. I wasn't a fan of Albert being manager. There's better options out there. Jon, yes, that's Arte for us.
I just hope we don't hire another manager that time has passed him by. Like the one's recently hired.
OH BOY is it GMPM'S selection again?

  2. When he was playing for the Angels Albert was let go by PMGM in a very sour situation because wanted to start at 1B. So he goes to the Dodgers as a backup for a year and then back to his roots in St. Louis (as a reserve player) where, evidently he always wanted to be. Clueless Moreno thought Pujols was his guy, but in his heart, Pujols will always be a Cardinal and will manage the Cardinals in the near future.

  3. Let's wait and find out what bargain basement guy gets signed. I suspect Jon is right that it is about the money.

Lots of high quality ex managers with lots of experience available. Schildt Melvin Baldelli off the top of my head. But those guys aren't going to work for peanuts like you would pay a Tori Hunter or even cheaper would be Ray Montgomery.

We need a competitive front office and owner. Over the weekend the talk about Shohei was about how happy he is to be out of the Anaheim Gulag, and that is why he is performing at elite levels

  4. It's not really about "cheaping out"
It's about going all in on Pujols, who doesn't have experience or a track record. If he wants to come in and change everything, including reliance on analytics, coaching, etc., it's a hard sell for the FO.
I think Hunter is a better choice anyway.

  5. I wanted Torii between the two, but if Albert came packaged with Yaddi that’s would have been beyond fantastic for getting Logan to be the catcher we all think he can be.

  6. Arte needs to sell already. He only cares about money. He sucks as an owner. Buy a minor league team where nobody cares. I don't care if Pujols is the manager, Arte just is a fool. He'll never spend the money he needs to spend. He hired Minasian because nobody else wanted his GM job. He talked to several Assistant GM's and they made more money than he'd pay his GM. Arte ruined the Angels. He needs to go away already.

  7. the person that gets hired will be the one that will want the lowest salary for himself and get coaches mandated by the FO and work within the budget constraints handed down by Arte

  8. It breaks my heart to be a loyal fan of 40+ years and support this ownership. I guess I will be visiting SD and LA until new ownership is in place. I appreciate everything you guys do. The best listen every morning

  9. i can say I'm not surprised. I can also say I don't really care either. Pujols has how much managerial experience again? Did he manage a team in the WBC or Summer league or something? Who cares. I don't see how hiring a guy who hasn't proven he can manage to a contract and length he is apparently requesting, is going to help anyone, especially for a team going nowhere anyway

  10. I hate to say this, but I had a feeling and I commented on it. Arte just wanted to see how many teams would pay him to manage. He found out, and now is looking for a cheaper option. Someone we'll be happy about while they continue losing. Fans should get their money back and cancel season tickets and send a message to the owner.

  11. It may not be ONLY because of money and terms. I said a week ago that Pujols might want to sign for a team like the Padres. Pujols is a competitor and wants to win. The Angels are still years away from the playoffs. Meanwhile SD is right there on the doorstep.

Either way, the Angels can STILL salvage the situation if they sign Hunter. HE was always my preference anyways.
