Milwaukee Brewers FEARLESS Approach | Can It Topple the Dodgers’ Empire?
And what a great weekend this was to celebrate beating the Cubs and finally knocking down the door and winning a playoff series. But we got to turn the page. Dodgers are next. You are Locked On Brewers, your daily Milwaukee Brewers podcast, part of the Locked On podcast network. Your team every day. Hi everybody. Good to have you along. Chuck Freeman here. longtime sports cer here in the state of Wisconsin. Proud host of Locked On Brewers, part of the Locked On podcast network. We are your team every day. Did you know that ever since I’ve been doing Locked on Brewers, the Brewers have never not been NL Central division champs. And finally though, doing this podcast in the last three years, finally a a playoff series victory. Man, it was so cool. We’re going to recap the weekend coming up here in a little bit. Preview this Dodgers series. Yeah, here we go again with the Dodgers. But 2018 has nothing to do with 2025 and the pitching usage, the Brewers bullpening their way. Looks like they’re going with only three legitimate starters. We’ll talk about that and that impact coming up. This show is brought to you in part by the great folks over at FanDuel, number one sports book in America. Live betting. I don’t know about you, but I was not ready for I was not ready for the season to come to an end on Saturday night and leaving Wrigley Field on Thursday night and driving home and and got back to Milwaukee at about 4:00 a.m. after doing all the work there. Uh man, and then all day Friday. Yeah. Thinking about this, thinking about game five. I mean, it’s a winner take all game five. It almost feels like thank god we didn’t lose, right? Because you didn’t want to lose. There was pressure on the Brewers to find in the organization, as I’ve said, because the fans out there, and I think the fans play a big part of this, and Sal Freelick acknowledged this as well, the fans play a big, you guys play a big part in this. and you couldn’t let the fans down again because you had done that the previous two years and you didn’t want to lose. You couldn’t do it again. All right. I don’t know if the organization saw it that way, but you really couldn’t do it again. You won 97 games and you had to at least back some of that up with winning a postseason series. Now, yeah, it’s two I mean, the regular season and postseason two different things. All right. I mean, whatever happens in the postseason or the regular season sometimes doesn’t translate to the postseason. Like the Brewers are 6 and0 against the Dodgers in the regular season. Does that translate to this? Probably not, right? Um, I’m going to tell you a little bit. The Dodgers are heavy favorites to win this series. We’re going to get into that, but I feel like the Brewers had to put a stamp on this 97 game 97 win season by winning that series over the Cubs. Not only did you have to beat the Cubs, your hated rivals to the south of you in the same division after taking the division title from them again, you had to put them away in game five and, you know, further solidify that you are the rulers of the NL Central. But I I feel like if they would have went down on Saturday night, lost this series, it’s hard to win fans back after you just keep on winning winning in the regular season and bowing out in the first round of the playoffs or early in the playoffs and there’s no payoff. There’s no payoff for a regular season. But getting to Los Angeles right here, getting to the National League Championship Series, I think this legitimizes things. I think this this had to be done. and they had to win this series and it was great and I hope you all celebrate it. I was in the locker room. I got a uh a cork from the locker room. If you’re watching us on YouTube, I got a cork from the locker room. Somebody sprayed champagne. I don’t know who it is, but if you’re in a media member and you’re in that locker room, they don’t care what you have. You could have I’ve seen thousands of dollars worth of equipments over the years in all types of locker room. when these athletes are spraying that bottom. I mean, you’re on your own with your equipment. So, you’re kind of going in there and you’re covering, you’re trying to get do your work, but you’re trying to get your trying to get all your recording equipment to safety as well. And you know, guys wear the goggles and all that. Some media guys do. I don’t do that. But, you know, I had one one champagne bottle, a guy sprayed it, and I was in the line of fire and the car came flying right at me. So, I kept it. It kept probably like I could drop it on the floor. I kept it as a souvenir. Came flying right at me. So that was pretty cool. And then yeah, I mean it was just great. Uh knowing that we got baseball coming up. We’ll be doing these shows all week. I’ll be out in Los Angeles covering uh this series and you know beyond uh however far it goes. But we got to get by this first round series first of all. Now we’re going to talk about the pitching a little bit later on. I want to talk a little bit about the Dodgers here. Now, the Dodgers are minus 220 favorites to win the series, depending on where you go, but I’ I’ve seen minus 220. That’s a pretty good favorite to win a NLCS. Uh, despite the Brewers going 6 and0 against them. Now, don’t read too much into this. I think the Dodgers are a heavy favorite in this series because of the fact that people are going to bet on the Dodgers, right? those novice betterers or those people who maybe don’t pay much attention to baseball will look at it and see, well, the Dodgers really turned it on in the postseason. There are the LA Dodgers. What are the Milwaukee Brewers doing on the same planet with the Dodgers? Won’t even know that the Brewers went six and0. All that is out the window in the better mind. So, when you see and and I’ve heard a lot of this chatter around town, boy, the Brewers are such underdogs in this series. I think it’s a little bit of a joke. There’s no way Los Angeles is a is a two to1 favorite over the Milwaukee Brewers. No, but they make they inflate that line a little bit. Kind of like Super Bowl lines used to be inflated for the NFC because they wanted to get some AFC action. I mean, there see Super Bowls when it be the NFC back in the 90s would be favored by 18, 19, 20 points in the Super Bowl. You had to get action on the other side. That’s how these book sports books do it. stole the Dodgers. I think everybody’s going to go on the Dodgers here. So, the books look at it and say, “Let’s inflate this price, but the don’t look don’t say, well, this is I don’t look at this. I mean, sure, it’s going to be an upset in some people’s minds.” But the Brewers aren’t intimidated by the Dodgers whatsoever. I mean, I don’t look at the Dodgers and say, “Oh my gosh, the Dodgers, Otani, oh, Freddy Freeman, oh, these guys, they have all the bookie bets.” No. There’s a reason why the Brewers had a better record than the Dodgers and they did they did go six and0 against them during the regular season. I take that into account. I do feel the Brewers are a better team and I know some of you guys might laugh at that and and the people who are in Dodgers nation, you might laugh at that and I don’t really care what you guys think. You know, I felt you the Dodgers slept walked through most of the season anyway. I saw your team this season, man. They were pathetic. I saw them late in the season. Their bullpen was awful. Man, the Suzaki is has just been amazing right now coming out of the bullpen. He’s kind of a godsend for you guys. But the rest of those guys the Dodgers spent money on. They stink. All right. Uh the Suzaki, yeah, that guy was great. But the rest of those guys, terrible. Absolutely terrible. Yeah, I saw I saw late in the year the Dodgers cough up leads against Arizona and all that. I I’ve watched a lot of baseball other than the Brewers and I saw them this year against the Pirates. They had no interest. I think it might have been a September series against the Pirates. Had no interest in playing in that in any in that series. And sometimes they just look so completely disinterested. And I know now it’s the postseason. And I heard all this, well the Dodgers, they they did this during the regular season because well, they know they could just flip on the switch in the postseason. And you know what? They have looked good in the postseason. They took the uh the series from the Phillies rather handily and then they you know Cincinnati they swept uh that many twoame series in the wild card round. I mean the Dodgers probably have enough talent that they should have got by they should have been a top two seed but because they were so bad during the regular season and you look at some of the months they were they were very they were terrible. Look at some of their games they played. They were awful. And I know the Dodgers are playing well right now and that’s what counts, but and even game one with Blake Snell on the hill and we don’t know who Milwaukeee’s pitching. The Brewers know, but they’re not telling us right now. The Dodgers are 160. The Dodgers are a 165 favorite in your house. Wow. That’s pretty odd. Pretty odd. That’s such disrespect to the Brewers. And they feel like nobody’s going to win. The Brewers aren’t going to win any games in this series. I feel they’re going to be underdogs in every game. Even I think on Tuesday or on Yeah. On Tuesday when Peralta pitches, you know, this all this rhetoric, the Dodgers are built for October. I don’t care. Show he was terrible in that series against the Phillies. Let me see. I wrote the numbers down here. Show was 1 for 18 with nine strikeouts. And I know he had 55 home runs during the regular season. And that guy can go off any bit. and he’s the most dangerous threat in baseball. I understand that. I I was trying to explain it to my kid today, my 14-year-old, how the Brewers would never get a show Otani on this team unless he was at the end of his career, 45 years old, looking for a one-year deal. That’s the only way the Brewers would ever get a guy like that. Otherwise, I said you would the Brewers in baseball, the the way the um insulting the insulting pay scale is in baseball and there’s no salary cap. Um the Brewers would never be able to afford any of these guys. So, yeah. And I look at their high payroll, but that that means nothing to me. And that means nothing to the these players like Terra and Freelick, Yelich, none of these guys. Doesn’t mean anything to these guys. It’s all about going out there and playing hard and playing playing smart and playing good baseball. At times the Dodgers look lazy. And at times, yeah, even in the postseason here, they fell asleep at times. And I don’t mean to come on here and degrade the Dodgers. I mean, they still got to the postseason, but I’m not certainly in awe of the Dodgers and neither should you guys. There’s a reason again the Brewers won 97 games. That Dodger bullpen stinks. And I feel like the Brewers can get to some of these guys. Blake Snell’s going to go in game one. He’s a tough left-hander. Yamamoto in game two. It’s funny that they’re not starting Shoi now. Show I feel is their best pitcher. He’s the guy that fears me. I I fear on the hill. But if this series goes seven, he’s probably only going to make one start. I mean, is he going to start game three? Are they going to go glass now in game three? Are they going to go with Show in game three? I don’t know. I I kind of look at it that Show might only make one start against the Brewers in this series, which is good. I don’t understand it. I don’t know if it’s um Dave Roberts and he has said that it had nothing to do with Show struggles at the plate with the Phillies, but I just thought that was odd. I thought he possibly would start game two. There’s been times when Shi has been on the hill and he’s been absolutely dealing on the hill and they take him out after like five or six innings of pitching no hit baseball. That’s happened a couple of times this year. But, you know, Dave Roberts, you do you. You do what you have to do with this team. I know all year long I heard in the summertime I heard the complaints about him and I heard him crying, “Oh, we got to turn this around. We got to turn this around. We can play. We got to be better play better than this.” Well, they finally did late in the year. Very late in the year and into the postseason. But the Brewers can get to that bullpen and play Brewers baseball and frustrate them. How about this? The Brewers hit three home runs on Saturday night. Not bad for a team that doesn’t win with a home run ball. Brewers can win in a lot of different ways. I feel and I feel like this series with the Dodgers, I feel like Milwaukee really is going to win it. And I’m not saying this being a homer. I honestly think the Brewers are the better team. I will take the Brewers bullpen. There’s certain certainly some of these guys position-wise, position by position, I’ll take Milwaukee players. Sure, you’re gonna give the edge a show. All right, at shortstop Betts, even though Betts had a a terrible regular season by his standards, you know, they waste Dodgers spent a lot of money for him and he had a terrible regular season. Heated up toward the end and is having a nice postseason. Okay, Pahz in center field is pretty good. I mean, he’s real good. 27 home runs, his second year in the league. Freddy Freeman, Freddy’s had a tough postseason. And of course you remember what he did against the Yankees last year when he hit that home run off a grand slam off of Cortez, but he’s batting 217 in the postseason. He’s batting 217 in the postseason. What else here with the I feel like the the managerial edge I feel like the Brewers have the better manager Pat Murphy over Dave Roberts. Yeah. Can you say that about a guy who’s won World Series, won a World Series with Dave Roberts? Odd, but still, I like the managerial edge here. I like the Brewers at a number of different positions. I like them at the catcher spot over Will Smith, who’s coming off a hand injury. Okay. Yeah, I’ll give Freddy Freeman his due at first base, but I’ll take at second. Okay. over at third base. Well, Muny’s pretty good. Okay. But I like S. Freelick in the over in right field, the edge there. Suzaki could be an issue though coming out of the bullpen. That guy is got amazing amazing stuff. I’m going to talk more about that coming up here in a little bit. But I want to talk about the Brewers bullpinning. We saw this in 2018 trying to bullpen their way to the finish line. Does that have any sustainability? We’ll get to that coming up next. Chuck Freeman here on Lockdown Brewers. I promise you those people haven’t got back to today. I will get back to you Monday for sure. All right, the bullpin struggles. I not the bullpen struggles. The bullpen has been fine. I’m worried about the bullpen struggling because of its use these days. Um the Brewers were able to get by with bullpinning, piecing things together, starting McGill, their closer in a game five because they’ve had rest days. They have three rest days in a fivegame set, which is odd. Okay, now the Brewers had the day off on Sunday. They’ll play Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday and off day. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, they’ll play Sunday and off day. Hopefully, it goes that far. And then Monday and Tuesday back here. So, they’ll have a couple of off days there. They have three of them in a fiveame set, which was just unusual. Um, yeah, I do wonder if these guys are going to wear down. The Brewers will have are going with three guys basically. Three three of their starters. The only three guys who could possibly see starts in this postseason are Peralta, Prister, and Kintana. Those are the three guys who started games for the Brewers who could see starts. Now, Canana might start game one against the Dodgers. The Brewers could go with an opener. Now, the Dodgers with two lefties at the top of their lineup with Otani and Freeman. Maybe they come back with Ashb. The Brewers do remember that’s what the Brewers did in game two against the Cubs because the left-handed hitters at the top of the Cubs lineup. They came up with Ashby. They didn’t want Michael Bush to ambush him. So, maybe they come up with a bit Otani hits everybody. Uh but maybe they the Brewers start a lefty an opener with Ashb. Ashb has been a little shaky. I’ve been a little nervous about that guy here in the postseason. But the guys, the legit starters, the you know the guys who have been starting games all year, Kintana, Prister, and Peralta, I feel like those are the only three guys you’ll really see starting in games. Preacher. Yeah, it still lingers in my mind. That game three hiccup even though he he pitched so great during the regular season, man. He he felt it a little bit in game three. Well, hey, as Murphy said to Priestster as he took the ball from him in that first inning in game three, we’re going to need you, big guy. And yeah, they’re going to need Pster. I thought maybe they might throw Pritor in the other night. They didn’t do it. Uh game five, they didn’t do it. Or even Peralta. I thought they’d throw in there. I actually thought the Brewers would come with Peralta in game one. Thought maybe they’d come out firing with Peralta again. They’re going to save Peralta for game two. They’re going to save Peralta for game two. Does that mean Pster gets to start in game three? Who knows? But it’s anybody’s guess. And if I were to guess right now, the Brewers do know the answer. They’re not telling us. I would say Kintana is going to start. It’s either going to be Canana or it’s going to be I think it’s going to be Canana. I think they’ll go with him. I think Jose is the guy. I mean, he hasn’t pitched though in the postseason. Um, he’s been a reliable guy. I mean, he’s been a heck of a pickup for the Brewers this year. I just I’m trying to see if there was any update now. Thought maybe there was an update on Twitter or in the overnight hours. Maybe some national guy reporting it. No. Um but yeah, Kintana being the lefty again. Totani and Freeman. Maybe they go with him or Ashby. I don’t know. They go Ashb then Kintana or Kintana then Ashby. I don’t know. It’s just odd that we got to piece together. I mean the Dodgers have started pitching the guys who they’re going to go with. you know, here I feel like it’s 2018. We get to the postseason and we’re just oh my god. And I know part of that is Woodruff being hurt, but we’re trying to figure all this out. And if one of these guys has a bad start, that throws the whole operation off, right? If the Brewers are um one of these starters like Priestster struggles like he does in game three, then it’s bullpen and then you’re really tiring out your bullpen. So that’s my worry. And my worry about using so many guys is that when you have to use like six guys in a game, all it takes is one guy not to be able to do his job or have an off day. one guy to have a bad outing that could blow it for the whole operation. See, at least when you have your starter with Peralta, you hope he goes six innings like he did in game one or Pester or maybe Kintana, right? But when you’re bullpin your way through the game, man, you’re hoping each and every one of those guys contributes. I was so encouraged by Miz’s performance in the postseason and I think we’ll see him. I think and I told you this before game five. I thought Miz was going to play a big part in it and he did. I think Miz and Patrick will play huge parts out of the bullpen. Patrick was great on Saturday and I think he’ll play a huge part in this as well. We’ll see how the Brewers piece it together. I don’t like going that route, but that’s uh that’s the way they’re going to go. All right, we’ll tell you about some of the games coming up here with the Brewers game times. I want to tell you a little bit about this guy who’s coming out of the bullpen for the Dodgers these days. We didn’t see him when the Brewers played those six games against the Dodgers this Susaki is just amazing. I mean, I saw where Bob Nightingale compared him to to Mariano Rivera. I don’t know if that’s too much at this point, but we’ll get to that coming up next here on Locked on Brewers. Monarch money. Monarch money. Yeah, this Suzaki who pitches for the Dodgers been throwing out of the pen. He started the season 23 years old and he had a little shoulder impingement uh during the season. Spent four and a half months uh rehabbing that all uh spent some time down at Triple A and they brought him back and he’s ready to go. Man, I I saw him late in the season in the regular season. He has got terrific stuff. Now Bob Nightingale, as I mentioned, is comparing his stuff to Mariano Rivera. That might be a little much at this point, but it is. The guy pitched perfect innings in game five against the Phillies the other night. Uh three of them he pitched the eighth and ninth and tenth. I think he was the first first pitcher in baseball history to have three perfect innings in relief of a game five or something like that. But anyway, he was dominating just dominating. So he helps out a bullpen that is just in shambles for the Dodgers. So that’s a little worrisome right there. That guy came back. I saw him late in the year against Arizona. He was coming out of the pen and they threw him in for the first time in four months, four and a half months and his his stuff was falling off the table. That’s how good he was. I was like, “Oh boy, hope we don’t have to see that guy in the postseason, but you knew it was going to be the Brewers and Dodgers, right? We we knew this was a potential.” Right? I had a feeling when the Brewers went 6 and0 against them, there’d be another rematch against these guys. And here it is. Tonight it’s a night game 708. Tuesday it’s a night game at 7:08. Thursday starting time 5 o’clock. 5 o’clock Milwaukee time. Friday it’s 7:38. Saturday at 7:08. So those three games in Los Angeles. Thursday at 5:00. Friday at 7:35 or 7:38. Saturday at 7:08. And uh let’s get through the first five games first. Right. This cork here. I want to see more Corks in the Brewers clubhouse. That c celebration they had on on Saturday night. Welld deserved, well earned for a team that bought its way. Once again, these guys are fighters. Again, don’t look at that betting line that the Dodgers are favored. Don’t buy into it, man. The Brewers are nobody, to quote Mike McCarthy, when the Packers made the run in 2010, the Packers were nobody’s underdog. And the Brewers are nobody’s underdog. I said this all along. They don’t have to take a backseat to anybody backs, including the highly vaulted LA Dodgers. Looking forward to this. We’ll be talking to you after game one, late night, early morning, uh, Tuesday morning, uh, doing the show from Afan Field. We’ll be there all week and first couple of days at least, and of course, um, later in the week from Dodger Stadium. So, lots of programming planned here on Locked on Brewers. Please subscribe, be here for all the coverage and uh be along for this great ride that the Brewers are on and going to the NLCS once again for the first time since 2018 and the third time that they’ve been to the NLS NLCS in franchise history. Fourth time in their history that they’ve been to the Championship Series. Remember they went in 82 in the ALCS when they were in the American League. Then in 2011 they lost to the Cardinals. 2018 to the Dodgers and they got the Dodgers here in 2025. It should be a fun series everybody. Let’s enjoy it and uh get that place rocket coming up a little bit later on tonight. Man, keep the tweets coming. We’ll talk to you a little bit later on tonight. Follow me on Twitter during the game at Chuck Freeman Fi Mu ND. And before the game as well. Got to do it. Lockdown brewers part of lockdown podcast network. We are your team every day.

Some people just shouldnโt have a pod ๐why would you dare compare 6-0 season record, what you claimed it being disrespectful that they were favored even in their own house, showed why they were favored not only the first game but the rest of series, brew crew were way worse than cubs made them seem, that offense got shut down by elite pitching, now maybe you can see it wasnโt disrespectful, it was reality
People were hurt, and they weren't playing well…..it happens. It wasn't due to lack of effort from the Dodgers. You learned what the Dodgers are all about, they didn't rush players back, let them get healthy, and now they literally busted the Brewers ass. Complete domination on an epic scale. The Brewers management, their manager, Milwaukee media put the wrong vibes into the team. Everyone around the team, media, etc…..all they talked about was David vs. Goliath, Average Joe's, $$. It put the wrong mindset into the team. I would say if I was the manager, I don't give a shit about money, or what they say, we are a good team and we can beat these guys. The Brewers had a losing mentality from the get go. They were making excuses for losing before the first pitch was thrown.
The worst mistake the Brewers did was to go 6 and o against the Dodgers. The Dodgers payed them back. You said Dodgers were โpathetic โ and โthey stinkโ. I think you were ignorant and insulting. Now I know YOU STINK IN EVERYTHING YOU PREDICTED and said about the dodgers.
The crazy thing is people talked about how horrible the Dodgers were and great the Brewers in the regular season yet they were only separated by 4 games. The Dodgers slow played injuries. They gave players extra rest just to be healthy and ready for the postseason. The Dodgers are a problem and will be for a long time
Damn the way this guy was talking youโd think Milwaukee wouldโve swept the Dodgers ๐
This analysis soured like an expired carton of milk kept in an unplugged refrigerator.๐
7:05 I'm here watching this video after the Brewers got absolutely demolished by the Dodgers…the absolute arrogance in this video is comical in retrospect. You virtually laughing at the idea of the Dodgers being a 2 to 1 favorite and then watching your team get completely dismantled. You've got to love sports
11:02 So….are you in awe of the Dodgers, now?? ๐๐๐๐
Aged like tuna and mayo sandwich in the sun.
This aged great
How did this work out?
His comments sure didnโt age well ๐
Three Doritos later… Brewers swept๐
Sad how 97 wins is makes brewers fan feel like an iron giant… yall dont pay attention to the playoffs enough if you don't realize how consistently 100+ win teams get knocked off in the playoffs.. dodgers have average 101 wins/season since 2017… in hindsight, it makes it that much funnier how confident this guy really was against the dodgers because of "97 wins" and "6-0" ๐๐๐
So much arrogance for such a small team over performing ๐๐๐
A pathetic franchise with 0 record of winning. 0 success in their entire history of existence.. showing heavy levels of absolutely atrocious arrogance in regards to their opponent, one of the winningest and most historic franchises in history currently on a dynasty run… this battle was over before it even started lmfao
This didnโt age very well ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐๐คฃ
Chuck, the Brewers are shellshocked after the manner in which they were swept–game 4 was so obscenely hilarious…the Brewers will win a max of 70 games next year…it will take them two seasons to hopefully recover…forever Dodger Blue!
Aged like fine wine
lol so the rest of the Dodgers pitchers stink other than Sasaki, Brewers 4 runs total 1 run a game and Ohtani pretty much single handily beat the Brewers in game 4 yea so who stinks now
He didn't see the future ๐ข
This vid aged like milk.
remind us to stay away from any future stock picks you might have – this analysis was so off target
Another NOSTRADAMUSย
prediction/ analysis.
…๐
Believe me, You donโt want Da Sho to start a game๐
Brewers did make history. Not the kind they wanted to make.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
The Chuck rather outspoken. Rather outspoken. Shoheiโs performance on game 4 proved actions speak louder than words.
Sure buddy, sure…..
Let's say it again out loud "oh my God Freddy Freeman OHTANI mookie their terrible !" What's that stink/smell? Oh it's the Brewers! Like a turd flushed down the toilet!!! Hahaha ๐๐๐ the Brewers disappeared like a FART in the wind๐๐๐. Every negative remark you said described your Brewers perfectly!!!! You know the song by now "LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER PERFECT DAY I LOVE L A " ๐๐๐๐ THE BREWERS WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR ONE THING ONLY CHUCK. THE WORST PLAYOFF GAME/LOSS IN MLB HISTORY!!!!!๐ LOOK! UP IN THE SKY! ITS A BIRD, A PLANE, ITS OHTANI'S HOME RUN BALL OVER MILWAUKEE!" ๐๐๐ HAHAHA!!!
Womp womp. ๐
