[Highlight] Jets HC Aaron Glenn reiterated today that he’s not revealing his starting QB for Sunday vs. the Bengals:

“I don’t want to. I don’t know how many times I gotta answer that. It’s not going to change.”

  6. This would be amusing if the Jets were winning, or even looked competent on the field but with as bad as they’ve looked, this just comes across as someone completely out of their depth.

  8. I was hopeful he would be able to slowly start changing this franchise. But honestly he’s done nothing to inspire any confidence this year

    Also think it’s hilarious when teams guard who the starter is like this. I don’t think the Bengals give a shit whatsoever which guy it is

  10. i’m not saying he can’t do anything over the next 10 games to change my mind…but right now i think we might just need to do what the cardinals did with Steve Wilks all those years ago and start fresh next year. especially if the top pick is going to be a QB.

  14. There are lots of things to criticise for Glenn for but I don’t get the criticism for his decision here.

    Yes we are shite but the uncertainty does mean the Bengals at least need to spend some time preparing for two different QBs.

    I totally get the criticism for how Glenn is speaking to the media about it. But if a team with a winning record was not announcing their starting QB (let’s say the starter was returning from injury) then would anybody say this is a bad decision?

  17. Yes that’s how you act being 0-7 , standoffish with the media and fans who are just curious. I could understand if the jets were 4-3, 3-4 or even 2-5 but dude. You’re 0-7 …. The “competitive edge” you don’t want to give the bengals…. Is YOU!

  18. Being a fan of this team is basically watching them manufacture new rock-bottoms on a weekly basis. Week after week, just when you think they’ve hit the bottom… BANG, they roll off the side of another cliff.

    There’s plenty to dislike about AG without this made up crap. This is no different from what other coaches have done throughout sports history. When did people start caring what coaches say in press conferences again? I thought we got past this in the 90s lol

  27. This is a genius move on his part , the bengals dont get an advantage on defense. If the bengals knew who is playing qb they would be able to win by 28 now with having to guess who the qb is going to be they will only win by 24 and those 4 points coule be huge

  28. Aaron Glenn isn’t the issue. He can get up there and publish the game plan for all it matters.

    The problem is our owner keeps hiring defensive-minded coaches DESPITE the NFL’s 25+ year effort to move the game’s emphasis toward more offense. They have literally changed the rule book to that end.

    We are so structurally out of tune with the game’s evolution which is why we are never, “a year or two away from being a year or two away “

  31. Sounds like a dumb question, but does the starting quarterback know who is starting? Or will that person find out the day of?

  32. The absolute arrogance to act like hiding your starting QB makes a difference when you’re 0-7. I could understand if we ran different offenses with each QB, but Fields hardly runs the ball as it is.

  38. It’s an amazingly strategic move.

    By keeping the starting QB a secret, the defense does not know how to prepare.  Should the defense prepare to get 8 sacks while the QB struggles to find open receivers?  Or should the defense prepare to get multiple interceptions?
