Reviewing Ducks vs Blackhawks, Bruins vs Mammoth October 19th Games
Welcome back. All right, it is time to review the other two games from today’s action. If you’re looking for a review of the first two games that’s already on the channel. Uh so we’ll go ahead. We’ll just again just jump into the first one, which is Anaheim and Chicago. And I have to say this was a highly entertaining game. Uh it it doesn’t necessarily look like that on the board, but it was a highly entertaining game. Uh these are two teams that I think are are building themselves towards being contenders. And I was thinking as this was winding down too, like there was a time where Anaheim and Chicago were the best teams in the West. Who knows, maybe we get back to that say four or five years from now. Anyways, Dostell versus Knight. There’s an early press by Anaheim. The Hawks then press at 3 minutes. The Ducks get a power play. There’s a short-handed breakaway by McKay. That’s saved. Power plays killed off. McKay continues to have a very good season for the Chicago Blackhawks. Uh Burkovsky with a near miss as the Hawks presto style holds there. The shots are four a piece at 6 and 1/2 minutes. Uh the Ducks press at 7 and 1/2 minutes. Uh Chicago draws a power play. There’s a short-handed chance for Vrano. He’s denied in close. Um that power play is killed off. Then Sligert misses one wide on a rush opportunity. The Hawks press with 7 and 1/2 minutes left. They are kept to the outside there. Ducks draw a power play. That’s killed off. Two shots on net. Anaheim presses in the final minute. We have a 000 score, but we have 26 shots in that first period. So, there was no lack of chances, just both goalenders standing on their heads. Second period, uh, Knight makes some nice saves early as Anaheim has the the, uh, pressure. Uh, Khorn has a one-time this kick aside. The Hawks get pinned down. They’re blocking out the path to the net as well as they can, but the shots are still seven to nothing Anaheim at 3 minutes. Interestingly enough, according to the shot count, that was it for Anaheim shots in the second period. Just bizarre weird game. The Hawks press at 5 and 1/2 minutes. There’s a shoulder save on Bard. The Ducks get pinned down a little bit. Uh Burkovsky has a net drive chance that’s blocked out. Shots are seven to three for the Ducks with 8 and 1/2 minutes left. Uh fans call one. The referee does not. McKay fires one wide on a rush. The Ducks Ducks draw their third power play. And this is where we get into a little bit of a parade to the box. We get 27 seconds of fouron four after that. Then we get a minute and 29 seconds of four on four that follows that. Then we get 4 seconds of fouron four. And then we have Hawks power play that basically lines up with the clock to take it up to the end of the second period. Nazar has a one-time that’s fired wide. Everything gets killed off. We’re back to five on five to start the third period. Uh Donado has a rush chance that’s blocked. There’s a chess save on a rush by Zelwigger. Uh Green has a slot shot that’s blocked. There’s a near miss then for Renzel as the Blackhawks are putting on some more pressure. Grizzlick has a screenshot that’s held. The shots on net are three apiece at five minutes, but I thought the Chicago Blackhawks were stronger in those first five minutes. Uh Chicago presses at 6 minutes. Bertusi has a stick break on a tipped opportunity, so he has to go get a new stick. Teams trade rushes and turnovers. Uh there’s a post for Krider. The Hawks clear. And then at 9:42 of the third period, the first goal finally goes in. Uh Nazar buries a rebound after Kaiser hit the post. So Kaiser and Donata with the assists at 942. Uh the Hawks then press for another. So they have some momentum going their way and they’re looking for another goal. Uh Grizzlick has a shot this blocker to side. The Ducks are pinned down again. Shots are 7 to six for the Ducks with 7 and 1/2 minutes left. Um and yeah, so that’s the same shot total we had at the end of the second period. Uh, so there Kaiser saves a McTavish goal. So McTavish frustrated with that. Kaiser, nice save there. Uh, Granland has a net feed that’s picked off. Things get scrummy on a hole by night. The Ducks press with three and a half minutes left. With 147 left, there’s a delay game call that gives the Ducks the power play. So Joel Quinville calls the timeout and he pulls the goalender as the power play is getting started. There’s a post for Lome. And then at 1921, McTavish goes top shelf from the right circle. Beautiful goal. Uh the assist to Terry and Lome. I still don’t know how he found that space, but he did. We have a 1-1 tie. We are going to overtime. Uh the Hawks controlled early. Bard has a shot that’s kicked aside. The teams trade rushes. Zelwiggers tonight on a turnover. McKay’s denied on a two-on-one rush. This was an exciting overtime. And then at 258, Donado chips one in from in close after a two-on-one rush by the Hawks. Bardarden Renzel with the assist. So at 258 of overtime, Chicago gets the winner. Uh two to1 overtime victory. So the chess magnets on the board because three goals are less in that game. Shots on net 16-10 Anaheim in the first, 76 Anaheim in the second. 13-9 Anaheim in the third and then 5-3 Chicago in the overtime, including the shot that matters. Final shots 39 to30 for Anaheim. Uh the power plays Anaheim 1 for5 Chicago 0 for three. The hits 30 to 26 for Anaheim. Do style saves 28 out of 30. He was very good, but Spencer Knight continues to just rack up games like this. 38 saves on 39 shots. Um, yeah, Chicago’s not not going to be an easy one to beat this year. I’m going to keep saying it. All right, the other game, the last game of the day to discuss is Boston and Utah. So, it’s Corposal versus Vanichek. Battle of the backups in this one. Uh, Acimon is a wristra that’s held. The Bruins press at 3 minutes. We have a fight between Castellik and O’Brien. Uh Utah draws a power play and they score on it. At 420, I just I have to pause because there’s laughter. Uh but at 420, it’s a chip shot over Corpusal. And in with the goal from Schmaltz and Keller. So Utah with a one- nothing lead. Bruins look to respond. Peak has a shot that’s held. We get some pushing there. Uh power play for Boston soon after. Uh Boston wasn’t able to set up early. That power play was killed off. Just the one shot on net. Shots are 7 to2 in favor of Boston at 9 and a half minutes. So unlike yesterday against Colorado, Boston was getting those opportunities and those shots early. Uh Schmidz tonight as Utah presses. Castillic has a net feed that’s blocked. The Bruins go back to the power play. Utah prevents an early setup again, but Boston would score on this power play at 1438. Uh Pastnock tips one from the side of the net to tie the game at one. The assist to Zaka and Makavoy. Boston looks for the lead, but Utah would draw a power play. Uh, Zidorov going to the box. I’d like to apologize because I did mention in a video last week that, you know, Zidorov hasn’t taken many penalties and since then he’s he’s taken some penalties. So, my bad. Um, so that power play was killed off. Pretty good penalty kill by Boston there. Simv has a wristra that’s held. Evens up the shots at 10 late in the first period. Purka then has a net drive chance that’s held. It’s 1-1 after one. Second period early press or early power play I should say by Boston. Uh Makavoy is a one-timer that’s held. That power play is killed off, but it had some opportunities. Just just didn’t get a goal on that that uh that that one opportunity on the power play. Uh Utah presses at 4 and a half minutes. Stenland fires one wide. The Bruins rush. And at 546 on a twoon-one rush, Boston gets the lead. Uh Posternok scores on the two-on-one on a given go. Husnov with the assist. So nice play there. Uh Utah then draws a power play. They struggle to set up early. So both penalty kills able to get that working for him. Uh that one’s killed off. McBain is denied after. Uh things get pushy at a hole by Corpusal. Jano then has a rush chance that’s held. Utah goes back to the power play. That leads to a short-handed chance by Jano. That’s held. Power play is killed off. Things get punchy in a hold by Corposalo. We get two minutes of four on four to to to get those shenanigans out of the game. Uh but Utah presses and during the fouron four just before it’s completed, uh Keller gets a goal at 1556 to tie the game at two. The assist to Schmaltz and Cole. So it’s a cross crease pass and in to tie the game at two. Bruins press with 2 and 1/2 minutes left. Posternok fires one wide on a rush. Things are kind of pushy at the horn. It’s 2-2 after two. Third period. Uh early press by the Mammoth. Geeki has a rush that’s defended. Shots are three nothing for the Mammoth at 4 minutes. Uh Bruins press at 5 minutes. They’re kept to the outside and then Jano takes a dumb penalty. Referee’s got his arm up for the for the line changes and he just slashes the Utah player right in front of the ref. So I know I was watching the Nessen broadcast and I know the Nessen broadcast felt like it was kind of a cheap penalty, but he slashed. It’s a slash and don’t don’t give them an excuse to send send you to the box. So, I thought it was a just a dumb penalty by Jano. Um, I I didn’t mind the referee calling it because what are what are you doing there? Um, but anyways, uh, the Bruins prevent an early setup again. They kill this one off as well. Uh, Boston clears after it’s done. Then we have Purka to Gunther. There’s a near miss and then they try again and it works. Uh, 10:37, it’s Gunther with a one-timer from the left circle. Purka with the assist. So, that gives Utah the lead back at 3 to2. Uh, Utah presses with 5 and a half minutes left. They’re kept to the outside with 509 left. Boston gets another power play that was killed off by Utah as well. Really effective penalty kill. Uh the goalie pull happens with a minute and a half left with 48.7 seconds left. Boston calls a timeout. Uh the Bruins then go offside with 40.4 seconds left. And uh they weren’t really able to get much of anything at the net. And so Utah with the big win tonight over the Boston Bruins at 3 to2. First time I’ve used that Utah magnet, too. There you go. Uh shots on net 11-10 Utah in the first 13 to8 Boston in the second 7 to4 Utah in the third. Final shots 27 to 26 for Boston. Power plays Boston 1 for4 Utah 1 for5 the hits 23 to 21 for Boston. Corposalo 23 saves on 26 shots. Vanichek had a good night 25 saves on 27 shots uh in the battle of the backups. So now we have to talk about where everybody stands in the standings. All right. So again, it is early in the season. So we do see some movement with Vancouver’s win. They are now 4-2. They are third in the division. So eight points, they are three points clear of Anaheim. Anaheim with that single point today. They’re actually ahead of the Oilers now because they have a game in hand. So the Oilers drop all the way to fifth. Standard slow start for Edmonton in a season. They they got off to a good start and now they’ve slowed down again. Um so they’re ahead of the Kings, the Sharks, and the Flames. Uh out in the central, Utah now finds themselves third with their 4-2 record. Chicago at 32 and two, so they’ve played more games than everybody else, but they’re still fourth with eight points in seven games. Uh that drops down St. Louis and Dallas to fifth and sixth, respectively. Out in the Atlantic, it is Detroit’s year. This is the year they make the playoffs, right? Uh they’re five- one, 10 points in six games. So they have a very similar record to the other division leaders. Good on them. Uh, with that loss, Boston actually drops below Florida. And these, again, these are standings I got directly from the NHL site. So, Florida and Boston play each other on Tuesday. Do you think there’s going to be a fight? I think there’s going to be a fight. And then I think there’s going to be another one. And then I think there’s going to be another one. Anyways, uh, that should be entertaining. Uh, Buffalo still here, but at two and three, they have two games in hand on both Boston and Florida. So Boston and Florida could be in a little bit of trouble here and Buffalo could make some hay. Come on Buffalo. Um and then you’ve got Ottawa and Tampa surprisingly at the bottom of the division. I don’t see how that’s going to continue either. Then we go to the Metro. Uh the Washington Capitals with their loss. They actually dropped behind Pittsburgh. So they have the same record as Pittsburgh, but they’re listed below the Pittsburgh Penguins. Uh and I believe, yeah, they were the only Metro team that was playing today. We have five games tomorrow. We have 10 games on Tuesday. I will be previewing those games tomorrow morning. So, yeah, should be should be a fun uh fun upcoming week. And starting on I figure on Tuesday I’m going to change this from having each division and make it so that it’s three for Pacific, three for Central, two wild cards. Then I’ll have the uh Thanos glove to to signify that’s your playoff line. And then the eight teams that aren’t in the playoffs here. And same with the East. So looking forward to that. But I did want to, you know, show how everything is within the division first before we get into looking at the actual playoff picture, which we will starting on. I think Tuesday night’s a good night for that. We’ll be up to basically everybody will have played seven games. There might be a team that’s played six. And uh but yeah, everybody should be up around the same. And we’ll be about 10% of the way through the season by the end of this coming week. So happens fast. All right. Thank you guys so much for all your support as always. is greatly appreciated. Hit like and subscribe in the event you may not have done so already. Thank you guys so much for all your support. I will talk to you again soon.
Thus ends another weekend of NHL hockey.

10:33, I think I’m beginning to understand why I’m getting extremely BORED with the NHL; there’s just too MANY TEAMS, This must be driving the Canadians NUTTS, No wonder Canada 🇨🇦 can’t win the Stanley Cup, by the time they get around to it they’re WORN OUT 😂…….C’MON, GO MONTREAL CANADIENS, let’s win the Cup for Canada or the Canucks, 😂, after the Sedin twins and the Biesta, and Roberto Luongo era, I’m liking the way the Canucks play ♥️🤍💙…!!!
Soencer Knight is the real deal , he covers some mistakes that the young Hawks make. Much better this year
Spencer Knight Frank Nazar Masterclass Great win Go Hawks ❤️🖤
Thanks for pausing because I did have a couple snorts. Not laughs, just snorts.
Nice work ….as always!
Panic index should be interesting. Wings fans Panicking they might make the playoffs. FL teams saying this cant be happening. Pittsburgh fans panicking to get to the cup for this one last year. Bruins fans we almost had a chance. Philly fans, stop winning we need draft picks. Sharks fans, when are we not going to be number 32? Dallas, why arent we in first place? Canes fans, please dont screw this up, please dont screw this up, Leafs fans, they are panicking when the leafs win so that doesnt help.
I can't remember a game where a team iced the puck as frequently as Boston.
As a Bruins fan, I can't complain. The losses so far have been competitive games that I've mostly enjoyed watching. Early last season, when I was able to watch, it seemed like every game was an embarrassing blowout.
Love to see the battle of the "underdog" teams. And Boston is slumping a wee bit, I see.
And, I just noticed the AI calls Utah the Grizzlies instead of Mammoth.. LOL oopsie!
Ducks dominated the first 40 minutes of the game, I think they hit the post about 4 times all game. The bad luck is annoying
I dont read all the comments or anything but it bothers me that im the ONLY PERSON that kniws your are the GOAT in hockey broadcasting history….
The Hawks are looking good, and they have a whole lot of talent that hasn’t arrived in Chicago yet.
@thehockeyguy get in touch with Empty Netters, they want you on their pod!
Ducks season so far not good. Barley beat tanking Sharks and Penguins. And lost to everyone else.
Been a Hawks fan all my life. Back to Roenick and Amonte and Savoire-Faire and Stu the Grim Reaper Grimson. I bought a copy of Youngblood just to tell my friends who Eric Nesterenko was. I went to go see Sudden Death just to see more Hawks/Pens finals. 2009 to 2015 was some of the most amazing hockey I've ever had the privilege to watch. Joel Quenneville was a walking legend by the end of it. He was loved by millions and respected by millions more. Q is legendary. Second most wins in NHL history just behind another unmentionable name. They tarnished that legacy by being so short-sighted. Quenneville doesn't deserve the reprieve he's been given. Kyle Beach deserved a hell of a lot more. Winning doesn't mean anything if you leave your humanity in the sock drawer. Bettman and the NHL just proved again that's theyre slimy assholes. Quenneville might be genuinely remorseful, but that doesn't mean he should be allowed back. Disgraceful.

Blackhawks 2024-25 = 61 pts
2025-26 (so far), 7 games = (3-2-2) 8 points. 82 / 7 = 11.71 x 8 = 93.7
NHL 2024-25 points to clinch an Eastern Conference playoff spot = 91, points to clinch a Western Conference playoff spot = 96.
Still short.
Ducks played well tonight just got goalie'd in my opinion but at least we got the point
Blues and Canadiens in the Cup this year 💙
F*cking hell gonna be a long season as a Ducks fan.
Go Hawks!!
The Hawks are off to a solid start — fast, confident, and playing with real chemistry. If they keep this momentum, things could get exciting fast. What do you think, are the Hawks for real this season?
Three straight wins for Utah, 3-0 at home…tough home game coming up against Colorado. We put up a good fight against them not too long ago but CO got the Dub. CO is a really good team and it’s obvious they will make a deep playoff run this year. They are well coached and have a fantastic roster that’s damn near impossible to beat. But I believe if Utah keeps this momentum going we can get the win and that would boost our morale and attitude significantly more than where it’s at now and we can continue doing incredible things. This is my second year as a season ticket holder for Utah and the home games have been insane. Great energy, great atmosphere and Away team fans have been respectful. Much appreciated.
To quote the acerbic, yet entertaining Jim Mora, "Playoffs? You're talkin' 'bout playoffs???"… 😃…Man, it's way too early for that! Most of these teams are still grinding gears at this point. But, hey. It's your show, Shannon. Knock yourself out…Spencer Knight. Yep. I'm impressed…
I hate the new low-scoring NHL, almost feels like the early 2000's.
I can't believe my Ducks lost that game (bunch of turnovers) but glad they got the point. Onto Nashville.
Hell of a shot by McTavish. Knight is really locked in goal for the Hawks. Great game.
Ducks fan here. Not too upset about losing in the OT. Very happy with the team’s play so far. This team is on the cusp, ladies and gents.
1 and 3 yerstday 38 and 36 and 5 record in the season
Bedard, Nazar, Rinzel, Lev, Knight, Vlasic, Kaiser.
With Moore and Frondell soon joining.
Hawks are going to be very strong.
