It’s now or never for Trevor Lawrence π
The Dolphins are not the only team finally realizing they might have made a mistake by handing an unproven QB over $200 million. At 26 years old and now in his fifth NFL season, it is now or never for Trevor Lawrence. Now, things were looking great here, but after starting 4-1, the Jags suffered backto-back losses in which they failed to score more than 12 points. Look at it like this. Mike Sando of The Athletic put together what he calls the betrayal index. Essentially, it uses EPA to show you the gap between QB performance and the help he’s getting. In this case, it’s defense plus special teams. Look at how high Trevor’s gap is on this list. The only QBs who’ve betrayed the other side of the ball more are CJ Stout and Dylan Gabriel. Now, in Stout’s case, he’s had no time to throw. Houston’s completely new offensive line has been atrocious, and Dylan Gabriel still has a tiny sample size. What’s the excuse for Trevor, though? The Jags brought in an offensive coach, dropped it backtoback first round receivers, and have been above average on the other side of the ball. Look at the Rams game in London. The offense didn’t score a single point until the game was over at 28 nothing. Trevor finished an abysmal 23 of 48, which shockingly hasn’t been too far from average. only Cam Ward as a lower completion percentage this season. Now, here’s the weird part. There have been highs. Trevor was excellent in the Jags week five win over the Chiefs, but that’s kind of the point. Your $55 billion quarterback cannot come up big once every six games. If we’ve learned anything over his five seasons, it’s that he has all the physical tools, but he’s inconsistent and unreliable. The only way this can be fixed is if Liam Cohen helped Trevor on two key points. First, he has to start taking what the defense gives him. Anyone who watches the Jags week to week has to be pulling their hair out as Trevor continues to hold on to the ball and take drivekilling sacks. The other is just to be accurate. It sounds obvious, but it’s not too much to ask from a top hate guy. No offense in the NFL is getting in a rhythm with a sub 60% completion percentage. Now, if these don’t happen and the Jags once again finish with a losing record, do not be surprised when they start shopping their franchise QB for pennies in the dollar. I hate being a Dolphins fan
Trev has minimum one more year, they have like no picks next year
Mid qbs nowadays get like 50 million itβs crazy
Are you not factoring in the fact that the Jags lead the league in drops both last year and this year? Also in those 2 loses to the Seahawks and the Rams, the Jags O-line had awful PFF grades. Trevor got sacked 7 times in the Seahawks game. That's just as bad or worse than what Stroud has to deal with. Even with all the drops. Trevor still has top 10 stats in almost all metrics used to grade QBs…
Jags went all in on Travis hunter because they are all in on Trevor Lawrence for good or bad
Their new WR coach is terrible he is the reason that JSN and Odunze had terrible rookie seasons and now btj and hunter arenβt having good seasons with him
