Don la greca: There is a higher chance Glenn resigns than is fired

  1. So…is that good or bad? Is he saying there’s almost no chance he’s fired, or that there’s a good chance he’ll resign?

  2. Woody doesn’t like to fire coaches and he won’t want to pay Glenn not to coach for four more years.

Unless he punches Brick in the face or donates $100 million to Zohran Mamdani, Glenn is not getting canned.

  3. Why would a guy be miserable to get to coach a sport that he loved to play even if his team sucks. Dude is getting played millions to wake up and do what he loves everyday. A bad situation in the NFL whether it be a coach or a player still a dream job people need to get their heads out of their asses.

  4. Woody will bring back Glenn unless there is a full blown mutiny. The odds of a first year coach getting fired are so small, almost everything possible has to go wrong. It is trending that way, but we have a TON of season left to play

  5. This isn’t Glenn is going to resign its Glenn isn’t getting fired. And yeah no duh its 7 games if they’re 0-17 1-16 things change

  6. My biggest concern about Glenn coming back is developing a QB. I’ve seen some interviews with Fernando Mendoza (if he’s the pick) and I am weary of how the two personalities would mesh. Of course, there is an OC, but he’s young and unproven.

  7. The fact that some of you don’t realize that this is Don saying that know will way Glen be fired is amazing….

  8. 0-17 all bets are off, but any wins, any sign of progress AG is retained. Extensive search, 33rd Team recommendation, not going to move on from AG unless a mutiny from players and fans. Will take another shot at QB next year. First rounder and a Free Agent

  9. I was watching the Gangs All Here podcast earlier and Brian Costello was saying he was speaking to someone with knowledge of the situation and gave him the impression that Glenn’s per year contract is higher than Woody has ever paid a coach before. Seemed to give the impression it could be be over 10 million a year which would be insane.

Costello was saying he thought there was no shot he got fired at the end of the year and part of the reasoning was related to the crazy financial investment that was apparently made.

  10. He’s said from the beginning that they are building a foundation. It’s been a rebuild year from the beginning and they took a shot with Fields. He isn’t resigning and he isn’t getting fired.

  11. I think that’s just his way of saying he’s not gonna get fired.
And you could forget about him resigning as well. He’s got a six year contract. Not a lawyer, but I’m assuming he would be leaving a lot of money on the table if he left.

  12. Given Brian Costello claimed in his most recent podcast Glenn’s contract is in excess of $50m over 5 years.

““I’ve heard a number that Aaron Glenn is making, and it’s a lot of money.

And I went to a source this week who I thought would know, and I said, is this number right? And they said it’s more. So it’s higher than I even thought.

And so I wrote it this week. It’s in the double digits of millions of dollars per year. It’s more than they’ve ever paid a Jets coach.”

  13. No shot he’s walking away from that type of money with his reputation in tatters. All he has to do is hang in there, Woody Johnson will do what he usually does abd make him look sympathetic, fire him, and he’ll get paid to coach elsewhere – where he will become a huge success.

  14. I’m not a Jet fan per se. I’m a Raider fan (I feel your pain) living in NY, so I do root for the Jets. I personally don’t think they’re that far off. They’re losing close games. It’s a new regime, and their QB play and offense in general has been horrific. Looking at their schedule, I see 5 wins. I don’t think it happens this week, but I think something is going to click in the second half. That being said, is that better or worse than losing out right? I don’t know if I trust this current offensive personnel to develop a first round QB. Give Glenn time to build his brand. He has to clean out the skeletons of the Gase, and Saleh regimes. Patience, I really feel like there’s no way but up from here.

  15. Crackpot idea, Glenn worked all his post playing career to be head coach to just give up and resign. No freaking way. That wasn’t his mind ser as a player I doubt it is as the HC

  16. I’m sorry but AG is the guy for this team, and I really hope you guys have some patience. If anyone can turn this thing around I really feel like it’s going to be him.

He just seems so determined and so in love with this team in a way I’ve never seen another coach besides MAYBE Rex, and that was 15 years ago.

He went 1-15 with the Jets as a player. He lived it. He’s been through this before and got to the other side of it. I’m so fucking sick of coaches having their head called for 4 weeks into each season.

Let him turn the fucking ship around. This was not a super talented roster to begin with outside of a few key pieces. He’s gonna find the right guys who want to do this with him and for him. It’s not gonna be easy but there are dogs out there who are hungry in the same way as him and are just waiting for their shot.
