From the moment the OEL trade was made this generation of Canucks and current management was doomed. Their hands are tied with bad contracts and a half assed rebuild.

You could pick any player in the league making 5 million or less and the Canucks record is the exact same.

So essentially 1M Podkolzin for 5.13M Kane.
Podkolzin is 10 years younger than Kane.
Idk, trading Silvos was the bigger sin
You guys think they didn’t try and get new player in the summer, the entire league wanted new players for their teams nobody moved this summer the Canucks don’t exist in a bubble you gotta look at the entire league and look at the stagnation most teams rolled it back with mostly the same group

I’m a fan of kane and think our team is full of softies, but we needed to address a 2nd line center and shouldn’t have drafted our first round picks instead we should have traded for a legit 2c.. if we could add kane on top of that sure, but there’s lots of guys in the NHL with bite in their game we could have targetted
We saw Suter give everything down the stretch last year. He stepped up in all the important games. He played every situation and made that PK elite. That was worth every cent that we are paying Kane today and it would not have cost us a pick either.

Idk why we didn’t give suter that 5mil. He was a goated 3C and we’d be in decent position rn with him in C2 until we can either acquire another C1 or C2 bc. Especially after going from two 1C calibre players to Petey and concussion man.
