Blocking shots leads to injuries short and long term … How expensive are these blocked shots by ol’ EP40? I prefer his $11mil to go towards shots and goals thanks
Blocking shots means we don’t have the puck. Just like Sherwood breaking the hits record last year. Not the flex we want to celebrate.

Why do I need to be reminded of this?
The thing with petey is that prefers to block passing lanes and shooting lanes instead of playing his guy close, this is why he blocks more shots and intercepts more passes than most guys, but typically its better to stick check and close the gap so that the shot doesnt happen in the first place, but requires more feet movement.
All the petey haters will say we didnt pay him 11.6 to block shots…
But im honestly impressed with what he is doing to be a complete player. He always wanted to be one and modeled his game to Datsyuk. I truly believe the offense will come. Today he got hit from behind and threw a huge hit on the same shift. That was amazing to watch.
Wouldn’t have guessed Austin Matthews would be leading.
Who cares? He’s brutal. 12 mill a year for blocked shots. This franchise is in the tank for 8 years. Quinn has basically given up, trade all valuable assets for trades. This ownership group is garbage.

I was listening to Steve Dangle talking about how Matthews is doing all these intangibles and details things incredibly but refuses to shoot anymore. Matthews and Pettersson feels like they’re hitting the same wall and “de-superstaring” themselves in a way to make up for whatever roadblock they’re having offensively. Which is good, last thing I want is for them to turn into PLD and they end up playing fourth line as and A and C respectively, but they’re expected to be superstars, not replicate Barkov
We spend alot of time in our zone without the puck as a team, and that doesn’t change much with him on the ice(that what the critic in me says)… He’s been good recently, and he’s playing lots of time on the pk where he will see a higher blocked shot total… He needs to start firing the puck more and get the PP figured out, last few games looks like the pk is a team problem now too
