McCoy’s Message to the Team & Standout Performers | Official Review
I know that it’d been a long time since you’d been a head coach in the National Football League. What did it feel like being out there on Sunday? I was very comfortable. You know, I think the players did an outstanding job all week long of preparing. Uh we had a great week of practice and everything. I think the coaching staff uh did a great job getting everybody everybody ready and I think communication on game day was flawless. I think they did we did a great job of communicating as a staff and with players. So, um I’ve done it before. Can you share your message with the team that you told us about uh right before the game and just how important uh there were three big words you wanted to use with your team not only on Sunday but moving forward? Yeah, we want to play hard, tough, and together. U I think it’s it’s it’s critical that you go out there and every time you turn on the film every Monday uh or the week of preparation, you look at those three things and you say, “Okay, that’s us.” Yeah. and and clearly I know that that will serve you well moving forward. Got off to a good start in the game offensively. I know you wanted to pump some life into this offense and get a rhythm. What did you like about what you saw there in the first quarter? Well, I think we were very efficient. I think Cam did an outstanding job of running or every all 11 guys. Uh but you know, Cam’s the leader of the offense being the quarterback going out there executing the system the way we wanted to move the ball, you know, get off to a good good start, a fast start. Um, you know, we worked all week long the way we wanted to play the game and it and it showed in the first half. I I know you you caught some bad breaks really uh not able to finish the half defensively and then coming out of the second half gave up a long drive that took up basically half of the third quarter and then there was a turnover right before that moment. You’re right there in the football game. I know those are the twists and turns of the National Football League. Yeah, that that’s the tough part. That that’s the disappointing part. We look at the game, you go back, you watch the film, we and you meet as a as a team, as a staff, uh you look at those things and those are the things you have to those are the mistakes that we made in that those situations you have to eliminate. You know, it’s whether it’s a communication error or whether it’s, you know, cuz you’re going to get beat. There’s going to be player, you know, this the NFL, there’s a lot of great players in the league. So, there’s going to be times where you, you know, you’re going to get beat on a one-on-one matchup things, but we got to eliminate some of just a little little details of things and um you know, just play better. Coach uh John Bones Fossil is is going to go uh with us to the screen and diagram one of Chim DK’s great special team returns. But Chim DK isn’t just terrific on special teams now. Had a great game offensively for us as well. Yeah, you know, we had the big touchdown. Uh you know, when I come when I actually first got here last March, uh I was asked to watch a few players and he was one of them. And that particular route you saw week in and week out in college with him and he did an outstanding job of running the route, setting the defense, setting the defender up and then crossing, you know, going to where he did uh the offensive line. Everybody else, they did a great job of executing what they’re supposed to do and, you know, big play. It was great for us. Rookie, fourthround pick out of the University of Florida. A secondyear player for you out of the University of North Carolina is Cedric Gray. 50 tackles in the last four games. You love the way he’s playing. playing downhill. Uh he he sees something he’s going after. He’s attacking and going through a gap uh making big plays for us. So, you just love the way he’s playing downhill. He’s physical. He loves the game and you love the way he plays it. Do you like the fight from your team, the culture that your team has right now? No doubt. Like I said all last week to talking to everybody here, the way they’ve worked, the way they’ve played, we we just got to we got to just play more consistent and play better for 60 minutes and we’ll get what we deserve. But, uh, they played extremely hard and, you know, they’re playing the way we want to. We just got to clean up some things so we can win those games. Yeah. Coach, at the beginning of the year, you saw some good finishes to the football game and obviously in Arizona, there was a great finish in the last quarter of the game. This time, the first half of the game went well. You’re just talking about establishing that for 60 minutes. 60 minutes. That’s what it’s all about. You never know how the game’s going to go. You never know what play is going to have a big impact on the game. Uh you watch you watch Denver’s game the way they they won at the end and no one thought they’re going to pull that one out. So you just continue to play for 60 minutes and see what happens at the end.
Titans interim head coach Mike McCoy provides his insight on the Week 7 game, shares his message to the team, highlights Chimere Dike, Cedric Gray, and emphasizes playing a complete game for 60 minutes.

What's the word on Ridley?
“Very comfortable” until the two minute drill before half. Then the defense played lazy in the secondary and was exposed. Lastly Cam Wards regression was on full display due to the embarrassing mismanagement of his rookie season so far…..
How was that communication in the 2nd half Mike? You can't call it the twists and turns of the NFL when it happens every week. Embarrassing.
