Carson Wentz on Playing Through Pain, Team’s Tough Night In Los Angeles | Vikings at Chargers
How are you feeling just from like a injury perspective? Yeah, I mean I felt better. Um that was a tough one. Thursday nights are always tough, but that was a little extra tough, but um yeah, I felt better, but we’re walking. We’re all right. Carson, as you’re going through that, was there a point at all that you felt like I need to come out and fix the injury bad enough that No, I didn’t. Um pain is pain, you know. I felt like I could still help this team and and find a way to go down and score and all that stuff. So, um, we knew that coming into the game that that was going to be part of it. And, um, again, that’s what that’s the tough part of Thursday night games. Um, just don’t quite get the chance to recover. But, um, that’s no excuse by any means. Like, I felt when I’m playing out there, I felt fine. They were in your face pretty much all night. How difficult is it to quarterback when you’re under that much stress and that much pressure? Yeah, hats off to that defense honestly on a short week. Um, I thought they did a really good job, made it tough on us. Um, scheme wise, you know, they got they got some really good players. You know, we were banged up and, you know, we had moving pieces even within the game up front and so I thought guys competed their tails off. I could, you know, I can always be better, get the ball out quicker and um, make some plays and decisions faster, but um, yeah, the defense made it tough tonight. Will they do anything for us? at times. Um, definitely at times, you know, it’s a good defense. You know, that’s I’ll let’s I’ll start there. I’ll say that’s a very good defense. They made it tough on us. Um, you know, they kind of made us one-dimensional there. Um, which makes it even tougher. So, um, you know, that’s on a short week. They they played better than us tonight. And, um, I can be better too to help that out. towards the end, I think it was after one of the fourth down plays, you kind of came to the sideline and helmet went flying and like the camera stayed on you on the bench and like is that like it looked like you were just like in extreme pain. Is that basically what was happening? Yeah, I’m not proud of that. Um, apologize to the equipment guys for that one, but um yeah, I was I was in a good amount of pain there. Did you feel like the the injury affected your mechanics on any of those throws? I don’t think so. I don’t think throwing wise um that’s honestly why I felt confident to go. Um I felt I could do my job. Um I thought I could throw the ball. Thankfully you don’t need your left shoulder all that much to throw the football. Um so mechanically throwing wise I felt like I could do everything I needed to. Was the moment on the sideline all pain or was that frustration coming out? I was natural frustration in there too but yeah it was it was a tough second half um physically for sure. your understanding that this is just going to be a maintenance situation the rest of the year with that deal or I don’t know yet. I don’t know. It’s a weekby- week dayby-day thing right now and um yeah, we’ll see. Was it too soon to look at record three and four? How does that Yeah, still early in the season. Um obviously we’re three and four. We know where we’re at. We got an impressive division. You know, we’re kind of in a foxhole, so to speak, with with that, but um you can’t look at that. We got divisional opponents coming up here and um that’ll be, you know, those will be some huge games um to kind of get us back on track and within our division and all that stuff. So yeah, obviously not where we want to be. Um no one ever wants to be three and four, but um at the end of the day, there’s a lot of football left and I think a lot of good football left for this team. When you’re getting hit the way you are, you’re in pain. What keeps you going? I don’t know. I’m just trying to do everything I can to help this team, you know, and I I feel confident even with the pain um that I can help, you know, I can contribute and and make plays and spread this ball around. And um you know, I thought we did it okay at times. Um left left plenty of things out there. The interception, you know, I thought thought maybe we had a little chance to to kind of put something together and go down there and I just missed it, you know, and um I got to be better there. But um yeah, at the end of the day, I I feel like I’m physically able to go whether it hurts or not. Um, you know, it is what it is. What were you wearing? Yeah. Uh, how many was the Yeah, there’s there’s layers to it. I’m not going to get into all the specifics, but I’ve never worn anything even remotely close to all that. Um, but at the end of the day, it was helpful um to at least, you know, get me through it. Did you have a chance to practice with that on you guys? I did walk through with it yesterday actually which was weird. I was the only guy out there in pads but just to to feel it and get used to it and um yeah no excuses there honestly it was it’s weird but um again I walked out there feeling confident I could throw the ball and do my job. The most extended pain you’ve been in there. The most extended pain you’ve been in during the course of the game. Quite possibly. Quite possibly. You mentioned Fox. What gives you the confidence that this group? Yeah, I mean, I just know the guys in that locker room. I know the guys. I know the coaches. You know, I I know I’ve still only been here for a short period of time, but um I know the the resolve, the resiliency, and the character of the guys in there. Um that I think that gives me confidence. I know coach being the leader um in this in this building is um as positive as it gets, and I know he’ll do everything he can in his power to get us right. Um and so I have a lot of confidence in the guys. you know, hopefully we can keep getting some guys back healthy, all that stuff. But, um, you know, this was a short week. This was a tough one. We just didn’t h didn’t have it tonight. You know, and the NFL is weird. It’s hard to win, hard to be consistent. So, at the end of the day, just turn the page and, um, go attack it next week. What What dimension did Aaron Jones bring coming back? How this game? Yeah, I mean, I was excited for Aaron to come back. Obviously, he was I don’t actually know how it all unfolded, but limited in some capacity in terms of a pitch count, whatever it was, but um, just the dimension that he brings to the table. um whether it fully shown tonight or not. I think defenses are very aware when he’s in the game and his ability to to just slash and you know take two yards into 20 real quick and um would love to, you know, maybe connect a few more times in the passing game. That was one thing I wish wish we could have hit on the one down there in the red zone. But um yeah, he’s he’s dynamic. Wish we could have done it better. Wish first play of the game, I wish I could have hit him a little better. I was just not on the same page there um with just some small things. But, um, yeah, I know he’s an very talented player and I was pretty fired up to play with him tonight. Um, and I I’m hopefully made it out okay that he can continue to help this team.

The guy is tough…but no good. His time has passed. We can not win with him at QB. Plain and simple. KOC called a bad game — again. Team made stupid mistakes. Not all on Wentz. But, time to move on. This team has hit a low. I don’t recall a team playing this poorly in every phase of the game. We’ll see what they’re made of.
How utterly embarrassing that KOC left a wounded 40+ year old who can't scramble, who folds under pressure and who constantly misses receivers in the game instead of going to Brosmer. I Have zero respect for KOC at this point.
What was so funny?
Carson was great in Philly until he got injured and lost his physical game. Ultimately it is his attitude that he knows better than coaches that ruined his career because he still has talent
I am asking you Carson is it time for you to move on ?
Love you man Carson but we need a QB that can win and you are not winning
not even close to wining
Wentz should get hazard pay then a pink slip
Carson looking like Scott Sterling without the Scott Sterling miracles. stay safe out there and hoping for a quick shoulder recovery.
The Purple Pooch was officially screwed on TNF. This franchise is in 2025 systemic collapse. Break out the 2026 scouting report…
Put jj in there against the lions. He will carve up that weak defense, and celebrate the victory with the fellas on the cheer leader squad.. hahaha, disgusting vikings
None of us know why Wentz was laughing. All I see are a bunch of sheep shitting on Wentz because the TV told them that laughing is bad. Wentz played horribly and should have been pulled way earlier!! Try using critical thinking skills, folks, instead of throwing temper tantrums because the TV told you to. Over laughing. Has anybody in your entire life ever tried to get you to laugh when you were hurting or in a shitty mood?
At 100%, Carson Wentz is not a capable QB. KOC should be ashamed and dragged for allowing Carson to stay in that game in the first place, seeing how hurt he was.
O'Connell failed his QB and his team last night and I wouldn't be surprised if he lost the locker room. That was an egregious coaching decision last night.
Guy is trash
I don't like Wentz, never have. IMO he acts that way last night (and all the other times) because he's playing terrible football and he knows the cameras are on him. Lets try to hide my terrible football by attempting to tug on peoples heart strings. I agree with everything the announcer said. You got guys literally snapping their legs in half out there… Bending them backwards, twisting them 360 degrees… They are getting carted off the field, looking like men, giving everyone a thumbs up. Carson wentz on the other hand, looking like he's experiencing his first period ever.
Carson Wentz thinks he's better than he is. He thinks he deserves more than he has. He's had this mentality since day 1, and that's why he was never, and will never, be a good player in the NFL. Fitting that he came from the Eagles, as McNabb is the king of that personality type.
Great HandyMan. Get his ass outta Minnesota
The O line didn’t protect him, and he had no one to throw to half the time. The QB can’t do it all on his own.
He needs to retire omg he is to slow go play flag football
Same shit a different year
I thought we had a good head coach but it sure dont look like it
That's he's a sad man
It was criminal to keep him in the game until the end. They should have played their back up before all was lost, and then JJ (emergency qb) if the backup went down. This season is over. Wentz can't do it without blocking up front. Whoever the backup is, they don't trust him and they are hiding JJ, probably because of the O-line
Home boy is probably thinking "I need to retire after this 💩"
Carson, if you knew you were hurt, you should’ve not played. You should’ve not hold the team hostage and for the coaching staff they should’ve called more screenplays help him out in a way if he’s not getting protected that good just bad on both sides, quarterback and coaching.
And Carson, I think you should call it a career you made a lot of money you always say you gotta play better but you still hang on to the football. You don’t throw the check down you run through brick walls you throw balls to the ground, and you say football is just football letting everyone know that it’s not serious for you I think that’s it man
Get this goof out of here
That o-line was non existent, it was a suicide mission regardless of the Qb. Maybe Lamar would survive
Respect to wentz but you better be getting paid good for that shit
This could be crazy but maybe request that Detroit defense count 5 bananas next week to keep it fair
What a shame,. With the utmost respect hang it up Dude. Not worth it anymore is it? If they had an OLine yeah okay, but they don't – they're a bloody mess.
I owe this man an apology, I didn’t realize how bad his injury was until seeing him physically wince in pain you can tell he was beating himself up the whole time. KOC needs to be held accountable.
Problem is Wentz they're actually not a good defense… ur offense just sucked!… the Colts with Daniel Jones kicked their ass!
Wentz was feeling the PAIN out there. It was crazy to watch.
I have a higher respect for Wentz. Hes a calculated person with a smile and certain candor.
All of you crying now about letting Sammy go LOL, believe me he is glad he doesn't have to play with this o-line it would be no different!
The guy has guts and he gave us what he had. But that does not matter in professional football. Results are all that counts. Wentz can hold his head high tho. He battled. I’ll give him that !!!!
Ppl talk about him crying..bro was crying because her knew he was fighting for his career and losing.. it wasn’t the arm pain. I’m sir that hurt too but…
