🚨INSTANT REACTION: WTF WAS THAT?! 49ers Get EMBARRASSED By Houston Texans | San Francisco 49ers News
That was ugly. That was rough to watch. But we’re going to do what we always do here on the 49ers Report. We’re going to recap it all. And this is the San Francisco 49ers Report. Chase Sener here with you. And no matter where you are, how you’re tuned in, thank you so much for making our postgame reaction show a part of your evening, a part of your day. And as always, thanks for supporting the show. The Houston Texans came into this game after getting pummeled by the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football in week seven. This was a must-win game for the Texans. They were desperate at home. They played like it was a must-win game. They played like the more desperate team. And don’t let the score fool you. Niners only lost this game by 11 points. It felt as though they lost by four touchdowns and 28 points. It was rough. San Francisco got their asses kicked in this game. And a big reason for it is how short-handed they were on the defensive side of the ball. But they could get off the field on third downs. They couldn’t generate pressure on CJ Strad who had his best game in a really long time. They couldn’t have and put together long sustainable drives. And because of that, San Francisco got their asses kicked on this Sunday afternoon, week eight of the 2025 season on this October 26th of 2025. The Niners slept walked early in this game and there were moments where they woke up a little bit, but for the most part they just kind of hit snooze time and time again throughout the duration of this ball game. And I think the 49ers today, after losing this game, falling to five and three, the season is not over. But it became more and more paramount today, more and more obvious today, more and more evident today that John Lynch, Kyle Shanahan, this 49ers operation, they need to trade for a pass rusher. It’s not fair to Robert Salah right now what he has to try to do with the lack of parts for this Niners defensive unit. It’s almost impossible to coach this way. Now, you can find lightning in the bottle and you can win games in wild fashion like the Niners did against the Los Angeles Rams, like they did against the Atlanta Falcons. But sustainably, you can’t play football in a sustainable manner with so many people out and with the lack of bodies. And we saw that today. Now, obviously the Niners on defense played very, very poorly, but can you really rip them apart? Can you really blame them? They had no pass rushers. They’re without Nick Bosa and Fred Warner. No Bryce Huff, Sam Okuanu gets hurt. You’re playing a lot of rookies. You’re playing a lot of people on defense that wouldn’t have roles with other teams, but they’re getting snaps with the Niners because they’re so short-handed. And the Niners came out of this game limping even more. Fans feel as though they are limping. Look at these numbers. The Niners today absolutely dominated by the Houston Texans who I don’t think are a very good team. But with this win, Houston now three and four. They needed a victory today to keep their season alive and they got it. And maybe this can allow them to find a group for the rest of the year because CJ Stout had been regressing. CJ Stra was phenomenal in this game. As a rookie, he was great. Year two, not really that good. So far, year three, he hasn’t played well, but today highly efficient, 30 of 39. And he had no worries when he dropped back to throw. He knew that the Niners weren’t going to generate pressure, that he had clean pockets to operate within. 30 of 39, 318 yards, two touchdowns, a pick that came in garbage time at the end of the half, and a quarterback rating of 106.6. He looks so comfortable out there. And the Texans were able to get so many different players involved. And some of these players really hadn’t done much prior to this game. They had breakout performances. Xavier Hutchinson, five catches, 69 yards, and a touchdown. Hasn’t really been able to see the field in a Texans wide receiver room that’s been pretty deep. But today, Houston, without Christian Kirk, without Nico Collins, their number one, bunch of guys stepped up. Jaden Higgins, four catches for 34 yards and a touchdown. Jaylen Null, the rookie, five catches for 63. Braxton Barios, couple of big third down conversions. Big storyline in this game. He had five catches for 38. Jared Wayne had two catches for 20. and Houston able to run it successfully, too. This is a Texans team with a horrible offensive line. They’ve been one of the worst offensive lines in football this season, and the Niners still, albeit short-handed, couldn’t stop the run, couldn’t get off the field on third downs and couldn’t get after CJ Stra. But I teamed this up moments ago. Look at these team by team numbers here. The Texans today 23 first downs. The Niners had 12. The Texans today nine of 16 on third downs. San Francisco three of 11. The Texans one of one on fourth down. The Niners 0 for one. Total plays 75 plays for Houston. 44 for San Francisco. Total yards 475 for the Texans, 223 for the Niners. The Texans had 10 drives, the Niners had nine. But Houston was able to control the clock, move the chains on money downs, and they were able to convert when the Niners couldn’t. and they were able to put together long sustainable drives. Passing yards for Houston, 318. The Niners, 175. Yards per pass, 8.2 for Houston, 5.1 for the Niners. Rushing yards 157 for the Texans, 48 for the Ners. Rushing attempts 36-10 in favor of Houston. Niners couldn’t run it that much because they were down to start this game. The Texans first drive of the game set a statement. They had the ball for more than half the first quarter. Time of possession. There are four 15minute quarters. The Texans possessed the football for 41 minutes and 22 seconds. The Niners only had the ball for 18 minutes and 38 seconds. A complete and utter ass whooping by the Houston Texans over the 49ers today. And at five and three, San Francisco is still in it. The Niners are not done, but they’re not going to be able to last without making a move or moves to improve this defense. They need to bring in bodies at five and three. You can’t just wave the white flag and say the season is over. No, you’ve got draft capital. You’ve got cap space. you have picks that you can give up and surrender in order to improve this roster while still being in a good position to have those picks at your disposal in the 2026 draft. But if you’re going to ask Robert Salah to try to come up with game plans that are heroic every single week, Niners aren’t going to farewell for the rest of the year. And if they do give up on the season, that’s a bummer. Trent Williams is 38 years old. Christian McCaffrey having a great year. You owe it to these players to try to make a playoff push in a wide openen NFC because when you do play well, you have shown that you can compete in this conference. But you’re not going to be able to compete when you play like that. Another takeaway I had from this game and I had talked about this all week in the leadup to it. While the Texans offense has been a joke this year, CJ Stout has regressed and the offensive line has been horrible and they were completely flumx by Mike McDonald Seattle Seahawks defense on Monday night. Their defense still one of the best in the league. That’s De Mo Ryan’s calling card. And Demo had a really good game plan against his former boss Kyle Shanahan today. And this Texans defensive line, one of the premier units in the NFL. And this Niners offensive line when they go up against superior units, they really struggle. That’s when they really get exposed. You can run power. You can run gap scheme against Atlanta. You can find success throwing it against the Saints. How do you fare against a great defensive mind, great defensive play caller, great defensive coach with one of the top edge rusher duos in the NFL with a bad offensive line? The Sners offensive line stunk today. And it’s really hard to criticize M. Jones when he barely has a chance back there in the pocket when he’s getting hit and beaten up so frequently. He barely had a chance today. Barely had a chance against Tampa Bay, another team with the really good front. And this impacted the pass game for the NerS. It impacted their run game for the Ners. Daniel Hunter able to get after the quarterback, pin his heroes back and cause havoc. Will Anderson fantastic game. Three quarterback hits, a sack at TFL. Denil Hunter was in the backfield active on a couple of occasions. He had some pressures. Derek Barnett, two tackles, a TFL, a sack, and two quarterback hits. The Texans have a really good defensive line rotation, whether it be at defensive end or defensive tackle. And the Niners had no issues. Now, obviously, it was a problem when the Niners immediately dug themselves an early hole right from the jump. Texans get the ball and they go on a 16-play drive to begin the game. Then the Niners on offense. They needed to give that defense a break. a short-handed defense. Couldn’t do it. Couldn’t really metriculate down the field at all. So then the Texans get the ball back. They go on another long drive. And the Texans ability to keep the chains moving, to keep the offense on the field and keep the Niners defense on the field wore this already depleted Niners defense down. And then it got to a point where San Francisco’s defense just didn’t have a shot. But the Niners had the rest advantage in this game. The Texans played Monday night in Seattle. They didn’t get back until the wee hours of the morning on Tuesday and they still pumped San Francisco in this game. And Dico Ryan was better than Kyle Shanahan. 26 points for Houston, almost 500 yards, 6.3 yards per play. Shanahan even said it after the game, credit to them, they kicked our ass. I was disappointed in how we looked all four quarters. And the Niners had an opportunity to climb back in this game. It was 16- nothing right before halftime. The Niners defense finally got a stop. They forced a field goal. The Ners had a Brian Robinson kick return to the 50. Face mask added 15 yards. They take over at the 35. There was like a 19yd pass to Kendrick Bourne for M. Jones. And then on third down, a ballsy M. Jones throw to George KD for a touchdown. The Niners got the ball to start the third quarter. They had an opportunity to flip the momentum when the momentum was there to be seized, there to be taken. You could have made it a 1614 ball game. Put the pressure on Houston. They come out of the gates in the third quarter, complete flop. So, I didn’t love the effort. I didn’t love the coaching. I didn’t love the execution obviously from the Niners today. really in all three phases all across the board. They got their tails kicked, they got their teeth kicked in, and they were dominated in this football game. The Niners, they’ve had the rest advantage the last three games. Remember how big of a problem this was last year? They’ve gone one and two in those games. Great opportunity seized. And so again, I know that the Ners are banged up. I know they’re injury depleted, but that performance, as ugly, as bad, as poorest as it gets. And deep in the heart of Texas, San Francisco got smacked in the face like Will Smith on Chris Rock. And a big thing that Demo Ryans did, he said, “We will not let Christian McCaffrey beat us.” McCaffry 68 yards from scrimmage. First game with less than 100 scrimmage yards this year. He had seven straight of 100 plus to open up the season. Tied Roger Craig’s franchise record. And Demo said, “We can’t let him beat us.” Eight carries for 25 yards for CMC. 3.1 yards per carry. And the Dodgers couldn’t obviously get him involved in the pass game either. Really, really ugly. Now, the good news is is that the Bengals lost today. The Bengals had leads over the winless Jets of 3116, 38-24. They were up 38-24 in the fourth quarter. They lost to the freaking Jets since he’s cooked. John Lynch up the offer. Trade for Trey Hendrickson. You got to make a move. Don’t forget to hit that subscribe button here on the San Francisco 49ers report. Thanks to everybody who tuned in to our watch party. Who is to blame for that 49ers loss?
48ers weee never the favorites to win-it-all even if their records now is 7-1/8-0 because that’s o my preseason; they won’t win a Ring because they had never/Never solved/upgraded their OL(QB/RB protection) and DB (even if/when QB/Offense scores 100-pts; DB loose it all back & more)….
Seahawks fan here. It is tough when you have so many injuries. You always will be a great team.
This game really made me appreciate how much Purdy does with our terrible O-line. Mac is a fucking statue.
Kyle and Sala r sell outs!! And great actors!!! They gave this game to Ryan on purpose so he doesn’t loos more games and gets fired at the end of the year!!! This loss was on purpose by the 49ers!! We r a way better team that does crap Texans!!
Couldnt have happened to a better fan base. The most obnoxious fan base in the NFL. I dont wish the injuries of couse but you all get what you deserve.
Even 3-4 trades won’t get them to a superbowl.
They want
A SETBACK IS A SETUP FOR A COMEBACK. 😊 AND A STUMBLING BLOCK IS JUST A STEPPING STONE TO THE NEXT MOUNTAIN TOP!!! 😁😁😁
Let’s keep it real you guys got beat down. And you can blame it on your guys being out. The Texans had there best receiver out I think 3 of them where out.
They had a pass rush and we didn't. Beyond that though, the niiner team that was snot-knocking last week was listless and slow this week. Hard to figure.
Let's face it, the Niners just plain suck right now. The record is an illusion. I was honestly shocked the odds were +3 Niners, but obviously the bookies know better than I do.
Smells like the NBA need to check this shit out also Fraud Fraud Fraud 😂 Texans kicked our Ass revenge for the Cowboys Texans took one for the team Congratulations Texans great game
Why haven’t we traded yet shanahan and lynch need to trade for something big are they should be on the hot seat for real
We need a " We are Marshall " moment so the franchise can start over.
The niner defense made this game closer than it could've been. Credit to them for keeping the Texans within striking distance.
I feel like it was the defense that made us loss
If the niners Management in Lynch waited for trade after week 9 it will bei 5-4. Giants gonna kick us out with that D. Two Edge rushers, linebacker and D-tackle. No fckn excuses.
Games are won and lost in the trenches
For three straight weeks we have been saying make a move and for three straight weeks we have not made a move……….W. T. F. ???
Yes pass rush is priority! Meanwhile we are one hit away from being on our third string QB and looking on the open market for his back up.
Forget Hendrickson, I’m tired of hearing about it
No they need to trade for O-line!!!! Look they had pass rush and unfortunately injuries took over. We never had a quality O-line…. To me seem more of a priority. One hit away from the 3rd string taking over.
Fred Warner had a lot to do with that energy from last week as well, with just his presence. Team was playing for him. I believe Lynch is trying to get a pass rusher, but the other teams have to be willing as well. I am still hopeful for a Myles Garrett or Trey Hendrickson trade. But any help is appreciated at this point.
