A.Q. Shipley Goes Inside The Cardinals Film Room: Week 7 vs. Packers
What’s up guys? AQ Shipley taking you back inside the film room. Week seven, Arizona Cardinals vers Green Bay Packers at home. Let’s take a look. Third and 23. One of the biggest plays all season. Definitely the biggest play in this game because it set up a touchdown. Let’s take a look at this. What do we notice right here? Michael Parsons standing up, lined up inside at defensive tackle, which Green Bay did a lot. Why do you do that? to confuse the offensive line, try and get them to count him as a linebacker or somebody else. Same thing, they got Rashawn Gary out here. So, instead of having those guys both on the outside, one’s inside, one’s outside. How you going to handle protection wise? Okay, so let’s let this thing run a little bit. We’re going to send Z Jones over in motion. As we do that, notice what we have in the back field. We got Higgins and Johnson in the back field. Why are we doing that? Because we want to protect the edges. So, let’s get double chip like that. Let it run. Let’s watch this protection. They try and run a game. Let’s take a look at Jonah Williams right here on the right side as he sees Rashawn Gary loop around. He’s got to say, “Go, go, go, go, go. Come down. Help Will Hernandez because those two are responsible for these two.” So, when he goes there, now the responsibilities just changed. Now Will has to come back over there. Let it go. There it is. Sealed. Look at all this space. Now, he can come over here. Make this big throw. Let’s pause this right there. How good is that? I couldn’t have paused any better either. Wow, what a catch. Unbelievable play. All right, let’s go to the other side of the ball. Xavan calling sack in the second quarter for 11 yd loss against the Green Bay Packers. Let’s take a look. You’ll see him lined up to the defense’s right going against Rasheed Walker. He’s going to set he sets square to him. You’ll see his shoulders turn to Zavan Colin. At that moment, he goes speed to bull. And you want to talk about a bull rush? Let’s take a look at this bull rush. He avoids Tucker Craft right off the start right there. Once he sees his shoulders square to him, watch him dip. Get underneath him. Two-hand bull. Never stop right into Jordan Love. Sack. Let’s go. Let’s look at it from the other angle, though. Okay, as we look at it from the other angle, being that I’m a former offensive lineman, I can give you this perspective. So if I’m coaching Rasheed Walker right here, the minute he feels bull rush, you are taught to get both feet back in the ground, they call it bullhop press. It is literally to defend a bull rush. So the minute you feel that two hand bull rush right into Rasheed Walker, he should get hop, get both feet back in the ground, get your hips up, press. He doesn’t do that because Zavan Collins’s bull rush is so strong, so powerful, and he’s underneath him with leverage that his feet never stop. Can never get him in the ground. Runs him right into the quarterback. That is a sack. [Music]
