SEASON SAVED? Texans vs. 49ers Instant Reaction, Highlights & Analysis | NFL Week 8

[Music] Welcome in to Texans today and maybe you see a little bit more happier version of Texans today as the Texans get the dub 2615 over the San Francisco 49ers. A mustwin game for your Houston Texans. And I mean if you were here during the watch party, you know we got lit. We got crazy. We gave away our Will Anderson Jr. autographed helmet. Shout out to Mrs. All Good. But I mean, shout I mean, speaking of all good, it was all good for the Houston Texans in this week eight matchup. And if you missed it, well, make sure you tune in next week. We’re live for every single Texans game. Also live on Wednesdays at 3:30 Central time. Texans analysis, the latest news and rumors, 100% free all year long. You know, we got you covered here on Texans Today. So, don’t miss a single moment of Texans football all year long where, like I said, we got you covered with the latest news and rumors. But, let’s look at how this game shook out and kind of the top stat getters for each side as the Texans, as I mentioned, take down the 49ers in week eight, 26 to 15. I mean, a good game all around. And I think, you know, if the Texans lost this game, I think a lot of fans would be out. I think a lot of Texans fans would be done with the season if they weren’t able to pull this one out. The 49ers had a ton of injuries. The Texans were able to take advantage and capitalize on, you know, being the more healthy team this week. and they needed to because they had, you know, a couple guys out, they had Nico Collins, they had Christian Kirk, but the wide receivers stepped up, the young guys stepped up, and it was just good all around to see this Texans team, you know, fight back from adversity. They’ve been punched down so many times this season that it was good to finally see them get a dub. And, you know, I I know they’re working hard. I know this team is trying to get on the right track and they’ve been, you know, a couple bounces short of wins here and there this season, but they went ahead, they went out and played four quarters of swarm football and that’s exactly what I wanted to see. Here’s my top takeaways from this Texans game. First up, let’s start on the offensive side of the football. The blitz pickup was fantastic. I mean, CJ Stroud when the blitz did get to him a couple times, he was able to evade it, was able to, you know, get out of the way. There was one time where it was, you know, second and long. The safety came and he was able to evade the blitz, get the ball out to Woody Marks. And it wasn’t a plus game, but still was able to get the ball out of his hands. And you know, this front five, I got to give them their flowers. They weren’t perfect today. It wasn’t the best game I’ve ever seen from an offensive line. And I know the 49ers don’t have a ton up front in terms of pass rushers or star power, but still, this Texans front five, they got the job done. Juice Grudge was still going in and out with Lake and Tomlinson throughout the game, but you know, overall, got to give these guys their flowers. They looked good today. The front five were able to get it done for this Texans squad. Next up, takeaway, we got a vintage CJ game. He was on fire. He looked great for this Texans team. I mean, CJ Strad had a game that, you know, it’s games like this that remind you once again the level of quarterback that CJ Strad is, right? 30 of 39, 318 yards, two touchdowns, one interception. That was at the end of the first half. He just kind of chunked one up there. A QB rating of 106.6 and 30 rush yards. He was getting it done every which way for this Texans squad. And you know, overall, that’s what you’ll need from CJ Strad the rest of this year if the Texans have any chance of making the playoffs this year. CJ Strad, he looked in control. He looked good. He missed a couple passes early, but got on the right track, was able to really read the defense and really get his rhythm going, get that timing going again. I think the spark that changed everything was that deep ball to Jaylen Null. It was right before he threw the touchdown to Jaden Higgins. You saw that throw kind of brought some confidence back in him, right? Cuz CJ Strad, he’s been very erratic this year. It’s been an up and down season for Strad and the O line really hasn’t done him a ton of flavor flavors, a ton of favors. the coaching staff, Nick Kayley, his play calling hasn’t done CJ Strat a ton of favors either, but I I CJ7, you know, he showed out today. He was great, and I’m really just hopeful that he can parlay this into another big game next week. For the number one question on today’s show, the main question is, is Straoud back? Obviously going up against the 49ers, they didn’t have all their key guys. Fred Warner not in there. Nick Bosa, Bryce Huff, the two edge rushers not playing today for the 49ers. So, I I know you got to take it with a grain of salt, but let me know down in the comments section. Do you think CJ Strad is back after this performance in week eight? All right, let’s go to the next takeaway. You got to get the ball to Woody. We need to see more Woody marks. He is electric out of the back field running the ball whenever he gets the ball in his hand. Catching the ball, more screens. I’d love to see more screens for Woody Marx, but he was incredible for this Texans squad on the ground. 11 carries, 62 yards, 5.6 yards per carry, and then he had four receptions for 49 yards. Woody Marx, he had himself a day, ladies and gentlemen. And not taking anything away from Nick Chub, cuz honestly, Nick Chub had a decent game as well, right? 17 carries, 56 yards, 3.3 yards per carry. But when Woody Marx touches the football, it’s different, right? We all notice that. We all see that. When Woody Mars is able to get his hands on the football, it is a different vibe. He has a different electricity about him. So, I want to see 27 get the ball more and more. I mean, Joe Mixon was live tweeting throughout this game, the entire game. We don’t know when Mixon is going to be back. My prediction is that if he does, it’ll be mid to late December. And what does that mean? Woody Marx needs to step up and we need to see more of a 5050 carry share for Woody Marx and Nick Chub. We’ve kind of started to see that throughout the year. I still like Nick Chub as a, you know, power back, somebody if you need a yard or two. I I think Nick Chub is a tough runner. He gets, you know, those tough yards, but man, Woody, I you know, you got a friend in me, Woody. You got a friend in me and I want to see you carry that into next week up against the Broncos and see him get the ball up against this Broncos defense next week. Now, I have a couple more takeaways from today’s matchup. But first, a word from our sponsor over at Prize Pix. I love Prize Pix and so will you. You and I, we make decisions every single day. But on Prize Pick, being right can get you paid. Don’t miss any of the excitement this season on Prize Pix where it’s good to be right. It’s super simple. All you got to do, choose more or less on two to six player stat projections and watch the winnings roll in. And for my prize pick lineup this week, you know, I I I went wrong on a couple. I thought Jaylen Null was going to be the rookie to score for Houston. It was Jaden Higgins. And then for some reason, I’m kicking myself in the butt. I went less on the rush yards for CJ Strat. I thought he I didn’t know if he was going to run the ball as much today, but he used his legs and used them well. But you know what? if if I’m going to lose a lineup, at least the Texans are getting a dub. So, that makes my day a little bit easier. And then I can just look at the night games now for my prize pick lineups to keep that going. Prize picks. They also invented the flex play, which means you can still cash out if your lineup isn’t perfect. You can double your money. Even if one of your picks doesn’t hit. So, go ahead, download the app today. Use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS. Get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup prize picks. It’s good to be right. All right, three takeaways so far. Let’s go to the next one. Will Anderson Jr. man, possibly the DPO defensive player of the year. He has been electric for this Texans team. I mean, I know I said it last week up against the Seahawks, but again, up against the 49ers, Will Anderson Jr. showed the f out. One tackle, one tackle for loss, one sack, three quarterback hits, and you know, he is just bringing constant pressure each and every single down. He is just a tear. And you think of the top left tackles in the NFL, right? Trent Williams is probably one of them. Trent Williams got worked multiple times by Will Anderson Jr. He looked awesome. So, the fact that he was able to do what he did and, you know, just show out as much as he did for this Texans defense, shout out to Will Anderson Jr., I really do believe, you know, if the Texans had a better record, I think he would be, you know, one of the top guys to possibly win defensive player of the year. Now, they obviously have to keep on their winning ways, but Will Anderson Jr., he has been the heart and soul of this Texans team so far. And speaking of keeping on their winning ways, be real with me. How confident are you going into week nine against the Denver Broncos? They’re playing, as I’m filming this, they’re playing the Dallas Cowboys as we speak. Let me know down in the comments section. Scale it 1 to 10. One, you have no confidence. 10, you were the most confident guy in the world for this Texans squad going up against Denver next week. Let me know down below. My last takeaway and might be a part of my overreaction Monday video tomorrow. I have to watch more of the tape before I film that. But I think we might need some safety help cuz the one thing the one, you know, if I’m going to be nitpicky, if I’m going to, you know, kind of look at the Texans team up against the 49ers, the big plays that happened, the George KD touchdown and the deep bomb to uh our deep play to Jawan Jennings down at the one yard line, that was safeties, right? Kaylin Bulock, MJ Stewart, both weren’t able to get it done on those plays. and multiple times in zone coverage. They weren’t able to kind of hold their zones for M. Jones. And overall, you know, the Texans won on all phases. Third down percentage, Texans did better rush yards, pass yards, total yards, and plays, you know, done and time of possession as well. But I I I I still have that, you know, nagging voice in the back of my head that says, you know, the Texans, they played a better team. They might have been in some trouble late in this game because the safeties were letting up a ton of open balls down the field. There was one where MJ Stewart got beat by Jawan Jennings and lucky enough he dropped that pass. So the Texans, they need to shore up the back end. You have guys, you know, cycling back in. Jaylen Reed, the rookie, uh, six round pick out of Penn State. Also, Jimmy Ward, he might be able to return at some point this year, but I would, you know, be hardressed not to look in for free agency, not to look on the trade market if you’re able to to upgrade the safety position, among others. That’s all I have for you on today’s show, folks. Make sure to hit that subscribe button. If I made it to the end of or if you made it to the end of today’s video, spam those H’s down below so I know you’re a real one. Shout out to everybody who tuned in. 1. No, the Texans are still ass, we just happened to heat a team where their entire starting defense is on IR and they’re playing a back up QB. Don’t worry, once a real opponent shows up the Texans will fold again.

I say this as a Texans fan

  2. 11 if i no one thing about the Texans is that they’re gonna put the bare minimum effort in to win until they actually have to win because they are efficient. They are masters of the domain Texan Super Bowl all the way.

  3. Stroud looks excellent with time to pass. It gets rough against good fronts – that goes with most qb’s though. However – the line needs to step up. If they play well – CJ plays well.

  4. Rn we outside looking in for Playoffs.!! I just dnt know lol atp its like Light & Day.. overall assessment.!! 12pm is our Primetime Texans

  5. Also Offensively we are also SUPER RIDDEN ON INJURIES… Joe Mixon, Tank Dell, Nico Collins, Brev Jordan, Cade Stover,Christian Kirk.!! So these Wins MATTER because this offense also been NEXT MAN UP.!!!

  6. It's not a coincidence that TEs shine on national TE day. There are certain elements of this game that are scripted. Can't say winners/losers are but certainly to fill a storyline

  7. CJ never left to be back difference is he had time to go through his reads and actually see the field without having a defender in his face 1-2 seconds after the ball was snapped. Time in the pocket = QB production!!!

  8. Getting the win was paramount but sorry to say the SF Defense made our Offense look good.
Next to no pressure on Stroud most of the game.
The number of times he did get pressured, it wasn't a good look.
I liked how he didn't drop back 20 meters before releasing ball. He did take the short throws. He showed more composure but again, this is due to SF Defense not bothering him all game long.
Denver will show where we truly stand but I don't trust this Offense yet (esp. not the OLine🤷)
