Rex Ryan pays an emotional tribute to the late Jets center, Nick Mangold
difficult day for so many people, but particularly for you. What are your emotions this morning? Oh, it’s just uh it’s brutal. It’s a such a great young man. I had the pleasure of coaching him for uh all six years with the Jets. And I remember it was obvious I was getting fired. My last game, Mangled’s injured, like injured. and he comes to me says, “I’m playing this game.” And he wanted to play for me. That’s what I remember about this kid. He was awesome and just way too young. I feel so bad for his wife and family. Rough, difficult day obviously for so many who knew and love Nick Mangold. and you among those and all of the the Jets family and the Ohio State family is mourning today as well. Nick Mangold gone at just the age of 41.

RIP NIck ππ Rex, I'm with youπ«
Nick Mangold and Walter Payton could have been saved with a transplant and never got it. Damn shame
ππ₯Ί
Randy Moss quality move consoling Rex !
Best thing is the jets won today β€οΈ
I was watching ESPN this morning and had already heard the news and was heartbroken but when I watched Rex live, I broke down crying with him. Nick was my all-time favorite NY Jet player. Met him so many times throughout the years and he was the nicest guy and SO SO funny. Rest in Peace Nick π
I am not RRβs biggest fan but I have an enormous amount of respect for him which has only increased after watching this. I myself nearly died last year (was 15m away, septic shock). I look at everything differently these days. Life is curiously fragile. I always knew that. We all know that. This is such sad news. By all accounts NM was the finest of men. Life can be so cruel. Sigh.
Giants fan here. This hurt me. Tough to see
So sad he couldn't find a kidney in time. I was rooting for his recovery.
Patriots fan here. Always respected Mangold and it was always clear that Rex Ryan cared about his players. RIP
truly sad RIP
NO WAY ESPN should've put Rex in this spot BRUTAL across the board
R.I.P. Nick ππ
Rex loves his players. And he wears his heart on his sleeve. Itβs ok to mourn. Mourn heavily.
I have never watched a YouTube video that made me cry
Respect from Bronco nation. Mangold was a truly great player and will be missed. Love and prayers to his family. That's to Rex for his heartfelt feelings. Real men cry then they lose other real men.
As a Bengals/Ohio State fan/fellow human being, may Nick Mangold rest in paradise. And I send my best wishes for peace to his loved ones during this difficult time. Watching Rex Ryan break down really hit me in the feels. There's no denying whatsoever that he genuinely loved and respected Nick.
And that win it for him , he came close twice to at least going to the Super Bowl
Rex Ryan should still be a coaching in the NFL
From Kettering, OH. This one hit hard. The only Jets jersey I own.
