It’s still early but …

  1. Lol it’s a rock and a hard place. He clearly needs time to develop but whenever he’s up he completely griefs the whole team with his play.

  2. Is this saying he’s extremely unlucky or he’s the cause? I always thought the expected goals when below 0 means you aren’t getting saves that the analytics think should be saved. But the inverse is happening for the offense where they don’t expect them to be scoring

  3. This chart actually speaks positively of him, basically that he’s having an extremely unlucky start to the season. He’s getting horrible goaltending when he’s on the ice and no one is finishing their chances as expected.

  4. So goalies are performing much worse than expected when Logan’s on the ice. Is that really how we want to evaluate defensive performance or just another split that can be used to try to dunk on him?

Having abnormally bad goaltending when he’s on the ice isn’t really his fault given that the expected goals stat is supposed to already take into account shot position, proximity of dmen, etc. Seems like more a stat we should be evaluating a goalie on rather than a skater.

  5. Obviously the kid needs time to develop. I don’t think anyone is disputing that. The problem I have is the organization made a bad trade by trading a much more sure-in asset in Zac Bolduc for him. And all the analysts out there telling the fan base the Blues had “too many forwards” is downright laughable, and shows how much in denial they are about the condition this team is in.

We’ve spent the last 2-3 seasons struggling to build a reliable top 6. Go through line changes every week “to find what works”. There are maybe 5 or 6 spots on the entire team that are safe, and that includes the defense and goaltending. Safe to say, we didn’t have any business trading Bolduc for Mallioux, given the fact we don’t even know what forwards we will have in the next 2 seasons or so. Hell, I’d be surprised he we kept Kyrou the way he’s been since the Winnipeg series. Poor guy is like a whipped dog out there since he got man handled last season. I sure hope Mallioux works out, but you’re not going to find out for at least 3 seasons.

  6. Bolduc has one of the best shots in the league and is going to be an all star at some point. I never understood getting rid of him.

  7. We’ve sucked and he’s barely played in the nhl. I hate the trade too but this hardly proves what kind of player he is

  8. It’ll be crazy when we refer back to this to show his improvement when he’s cooking later this year (please don’t be cope)

  9. Crazy when the team looks like shit their youngest player looks really bad. We haven’t set him up for success yet and the way this team has been playing I don’t think we will. You can say it’s early but none of our top players have stepped up. Not much he can do when everybody on the team is puck watching.
