Why do the Cowboys keep committing dumb penalties?

We got to start talking. We destroyed uh Mike McCarthy for this, deservedly so. We got to start going to Brian Shottenheimer for penalties. And I think this is an instance in a case where we do have to ask, are we too close to it? And this is happening with the level of stupidity to other teams throughout the league. The Cowboys for the longest time have been a dumb football team. Dumb in terms of discipline, dumb in terms of situation. Yesterday I made my own section for parts of the nine penalties that they got. James Houston offsides that negates a third and seven stop for the very few rare stops you get. They end up getting a first down. Harvey 40 yardd touchdown. Steel hold backs him up. Fourth and one to fourth and five. Maybe it was a bad call. It they still ended up saying it was a hold. Illegal formation. Second and four on the 11. You’re down 14-3. You’re now second and nine. Sam Williams automatic. Everyone tweets at the same time. There it is. Personal foul after the touchdown. That sets up a two-point attempt. Now they didn’t get it. That’s not the point. Sam Williams moves them closer. OSA was also off sides on the touchdown before the half. So, nine more penalties for the Cowboys. And Brian Shottenheimimer has not cleaned this up compared to Mike McCarthy to a great degree. Yeah, we’re going to address it. It’s been uh it’s no. Yeah, this has reached a point where it’s it’s clearly a problem. And they’re backbreaking moments, too. It’s clearly a problem that he’s got to take responsibility for. So, and and the you remember we’re so far away from week one where week one was they had like two. You remember what he was just talking about? Like, oh my gosh, they didn’t even have like they didn’t have a single penalty. The offense looked crisp. Like, this is so disciplined. And ever since that week, it’s been just awful. Every single week it feels like they have dumb penalties. I bet you they still I know they did last year. I’m sure they they still do to this point. They did earlier in the season. They led the league in in both too many men on the field on offense and defense. Like they routinely for the last few years have problems understanding like who’s supposed to be standing out here. As of week eight tied for the fifth most in the league with 67. Their penalty yards rank as the second highest total at 555. It’s I mean Denver actually was one. They’re tied. They’re tied with three others

Shan Shariff on the Cowboys’ penalty problem:

“We destroyed Mike McCarthy for this, deservedly so. We gotta start going at Brian Schottenheimer for penalties. … The #DallasCowboys for a long time have been a dumb football team.”

  1. So annoying. This has been an issue for 20 years now. Different players, different coaches, doesn’t matter. Maybe there isn’t enough accountability and fear on the players part because they won’t get subbed out or cut if they line up offsides when they’re looking right at the football. We haven’t had a general like Jimmy Johnson or Bill Parcells who wouldn’t put up with player BS in a long time.

  2. Besides the defense this is the other reason we can’t get right penalties. Dak doing his job but he can only do what his Oline allow him to do. Better yet who his owner chose to invest to pro text him.

  3. The ones that irk me the most is lining up in the neutral zone. It’s one thing to jump but to literally just not pay attention and line up offsides is just stupid.
