Opinion: The NBA Owes the Miami Heat an Apology — and Their First-Round Pick Back

I agree 100%. Not only did we lose a pick and take on a bunch of salary under false pretenses, we also made other financial decisions based our cap situation post trade. And our draft picks we could trade were capped due to this trade.
I don’t think we will get that pick back, Adam still need to do something for us though either way, get Mavs luck (wink wink) maybe the first time we are in lotto(probably not this year, east is open)
If Pat can’t get the NBA on the phone to demand and complain for first round pick like my latina wife complains to T-mobile for a gift card than he needs to just retire.
I have a feeling if we fight this hard enough and make a big enough deal about it we will force the leagues hand, the league knew about the investigation, absolute negligence on their end, and to make matters worse they allowed a trade to go thru with a FRP attached to it. I don’t know what to expect and no one has a clear demand of what we deserve/should get, so for right now it’s all up in the air, but more pressure on the league could legitimately make a difference and it’s something I actually respect Ira for reporting about.
The only thing is…what if the NBA didn’t do anything to compensate the heat. What are the heat going to do about it? What CAN they do about it?
This is the fucking minimum, absurd it’s even a question. The league let us trade for a player they investigated and didn’t say shit. We looked at his medical records and were probably like “wow, his foot looks great!” When he never had an injury. My favorite is the rnba assholes saying we knew the whole time too and still chose to do it. People so blind because they hate Miami
Not trying to argue, but I just really don’t see how we would be able to get our first round pick back? Wouldn’t we need to establish that the Hornets were aware of the situation as well in order to make that case?
Best case scenario would be some type of Compensatory pick
The NBA also deserves to be sued and the money awarded to local Miami charities and youth basketball initiatives.
Fuck it….we want a chip!
I don’t care how!
Front office needs go be complaining like no tomorrow.
If they can send a memo out to stop us from getting Dame they can do the right thing and admit they fucked up leaving us in the dark.
Heat 100% dotn make that deal if they even heard any sniffing around was happening
💯
they owe them either salary cap relief or 1st rounder. or both?
I don’t care if he did it or not. Not disclosing the investigation is the issue. If the NBA “cleared” him, they should have had no issue disclosing it.
