I was reminded seeing the #STLCards hashtag on Shitter, then seeing Augie Nash's feed.
Don't watch if you don't want to, but here's the whole top of the ninth replayed.
Per one response to Nash, why didn't Whitey consider putting Jorgensen in for defense at 1B? (That said, John McNamara made that exact same mistake a year later.) I'm not sure if he was that much better, but he certainly was that much more comfortable at 1B.
On the infamous Orta play, would Jorgensen instead of Clark let Herr make the play? (Arguably it WAS his play, and makeable.)
Could Whitey have done a better job of calming the team down?
Why didn't he replace Coleman on the roster? (Already in 1985, you could adjust your roster between playoff rounds.)

This chapped my ass pretty good for a few decades, but 2011 made up for it. Doesn’t even bother me anymore. It was a terrible call, but in the end the team shit the bed.
Clark did nothing wrong on that play to first. The Cardinals played the out correctly. The Ump got the call wrong. There is no point in arguing that another 1st baseman would have made the right play. The right play was made.
Why wasn’t Porter protecting the plate better on the excellent throw from Van Slyke? Porter also allowed the winning run into scoring position.
The ‘85 World Series is my first major news memory I have, followed soon after by the Challenger disaster. Even 6 year old me knew how bad this was.
