Given all the injuries this season, he’s the only player on the Astros who makes sense for a Silver Slugger. He had a great year.
I’m happy he’s a finalist, but unfortunately missing a full month means he’s unlikely to pass Witt. Finished 6 HR’s behind him and 34 hits
Though I would make the argument Pena with 144 less AB’s only had 6 less HR’s, a better OBP, and only 34 less hits and only a .012 difference in OPS and 4 difference in OPS+ was a better hitter than Witt over the full year. It all depends on if they hold missing a month against him or for him with his stats
Season fell apart when he went down with injury (as well as Parades and Jake). Tough end for us this year.
