Boston Bruins vs. Ottawa Senators | Game Preview | 10/27/2025
[Music] doesn’t have to go to stock in the gold. Steven Pete in the white at center ice here at the Fleet Center in Boston. Two guys who can throw punches and they’re doing exactly that. Jumping. Folks, this is one of the best hockey fights we have seen in a long time. Punch and punch. got to be able to take one to get one. And they are Oh my goodness, what a fight that is. PJ Stark has turned into somewhat of a cult hero here in Boston. And with that, we’re welcoming you into the Ultimate Bruins Show presented by Jordan’s Furniture, Sophia Razer, and PJ Stock. How’d you get past security? Is that my first goal? Who let you in the building? I would have to come out with my goal off the hop. There’s no chance he makes it through the hour today. It’s going to It’s an hour. It’s an hour pregame. It’s an hour pre. I’ll try my best. I’ll try my best. What’ you think of watching your vint vintage Peach? Uh, welcome fan favorite. I’m teasing about you. Uh, thank you. I’m excited. Thanks very much, Brunes Nation, for letting me on TV and I’m sorry for the next five, six hours. Which c Which camera are you looking at? I don’t know. There’s a few of them. I’m just And I have double vision, so I’m just I’ll find one. Why would you have double vision? I don’t know. I’ll find it. I’ll find it. I’ll find it. What what I mean I know you’ve seen your stuff on YouTube. You’re not only on TV here at Nessen. You’re on in Montreal. You’ve been on Hockey Night Canada. We worked together before. Um but what you what did you make of that uh that little throwback? Very nice intro. Thank you very Thank you. We’ll show the goal later. The goal. The goal. No, Peach. So um obviously you played with the Boston Bruins, not just with them, with the Kenned, with uh the Rangers. With the Flyers. No. Oh, here we are. Here we have a board on you. your career 1997 to 2004 known. You’re fanning yourself cuz it’s hot in here. It’s hot sauna in this place. Wait, did we just replace Billy with another Billy? Oh my lord. Billy calls it the sauna. He calls it. This is like a sauna. Okay, we are going to cool it down a little. Yeah. So, I was known for my memorable fights. That’s what you guys are like. That’s what we have. That’s what you have me for. Oh, look at you. You didn’t age it. You didn’t age a minute. I didn’t age. I had the one thing I look back on my career. It’s It was uh I had black eyes all the time. Well, cuz you were fighting all the time. Yeah, I wasn’t I was misunderstood. Okay. I think is the way to look at it. Um there was the time here in Boston was really special. You know, it was super special. The guys that called the games, uh our coaching staff, our training staff, the players, uh teammates, everything was super awesome. But the one thing that makes this city really special is the fans. The fans are they’re special. It’s I played some real cool cities. New York is New York. Philly sports. Yeah. In Montreal. But uh the people in Boston. Uh I wish you guys can have a opportunity to come sweat with me in studio here. It’s like we are we are cooling it down. I promise. We are after the intro. It t it takes like an hour to get the temperature down. So you’re just going to have to sweat through game. But we will get there. Um no. You know what the one thing I you said what Brad Marshian said when he came back with the Florida Panthers. People ask him, “What are you going to miss? What’s the best about Boston?” He keeps saying the fans. You saying the same thing. Yeah. And um and really quick and and then I’ll let you talk about that. But during the centennial year, Razer was obviously invited. Um there are very few there were very few Bruins outside of the ones that were making it onto that all Centennial team that were invited and you were one of them because you are so loved by this. Yeah, it was I’m again I I’m thankful to be on air uh for now. Let’s see how this goes. Uh I’m I’ll sweat out of my suit by the time this is done. But uh no, it’s it was super special to be here. Um it’s a city that you they were lucky. Like let’s be honest, the Pats winning all the time, Red Sox winning all the time, Bruins, we were we we were doing really well at the time. And um the fans you they got tired of cheering for the superstar players on on every team. to like you cheered for Joe Thornton every night, Glenn Murray. Is there anyone else we could cheer for? So, uh it was fun to be acknowledged uh on a team and in a city with a bunch of great athletes and it’s super fun to be back tonight. All right. Well, we’re going to get into the Bruins game and preview against of course the Ottawa Senators. Um and let’s get into it right now. Going back to a flashback uh Lenus Almark on Saturday, not really a flashback, just uh a little while ago going down the length of the ice to getting a scrum razor since you are a goalender. What do you make of this move? It doesn’t happen very often nowadays. Um when PE and I played together, especially in the minors, it happened a whole lot of uh once a weekend probably. You had to do something like this. Um again, four nothing game. Lingering does get in the mix early. Lenus feels like he needs to go down there and and add the extra person. Probably as um dangerous as things get in the NHL nowadays, the referees get in pretty quickly between the goalenders that we’ve seen over the last couple years. It’s tough to make a goalie fight, but but Lenus goes down there to to help everybody out. So, a question. I I don’t think I’ve ever I played with Byron Defro, some other goalies that have got into them. What’s going through your mind when you’re staying at center ice? Like, okay, I know when you’re involved in a play because I was the guy that bumped in you in front of the net and you’d slash me and you’d like you you’d block her. That’s what you did. Yes. But what what’s he thinking 200 ft away like I’m going to go down and even this or the score or Well, no. What you’re really thinking about first and foremost, you don’t want to be six on five in that situation. In that situation, you’re okay. I got to get down. It’s 4 nothing. If it’s 1-1, you’re not taking the extra penalty. at 4 nothing, you you have the ability to go in there and even things up. You’re probably not again the I don’t can’t imagine the goalies nowadays think they’re actually going to get into a fight because again, we haven’t seen it. We we’ve had opportunities and the referee the league has just said this is not happening, guys. Referees are not allowed to let these guys fight. Whatever you do, we don’t want this leading the story, the news story for the NHL over the next few days. So, um I I think mostly you’re just worried about getting in there, making sure your guys are are evened up. Jeremy Swayman tried that last year against RC Keer, but like as you mentioned, Razer were like, “No, this is the example because Keer went out too. He took his there ready like this. This would have happened without question.” Mhm. 15 years ago, 15, 10 years ago. Now it just won’t. The referees, everybody’s in. You’ve got everybody in. It just won’t happen. And um and again, I think this is Bennington was kind of looking to get in the mix for a while. He stopped. Uh Jeremy last season was I think he’s stopped. He he needs to stop the puck and uh the game’s hard enough as it is to to be worrying to do this as a goalender. Yeah. I ah like hold on. Yeah. How come everyone can play their game and not have and still do it and the goalie has to be like ah who’s fighting nowadays? What do you Well, no one’s fighting. Well, you know what? I think you know I I was all prepared to come in. Uh I didn’t know it’d be this hot in here. I would have wor like a lighter suit, but I was all prepared to come in today and be all excited about the Bruins are going to start winning today. They’ve lost seven in a row cuz they were playing the Colorado Avalanche who hadn’t lost in regulation and I thought they were going to play the way they did. Slow start and I was all prepared. The reason they’re losing their the reason um but they turned things around and you know all positive but of all the games they played I thought that was the most Boston game that they played. Yeah. Besides the start of the game. Yeah, they played, they got physical. Uh, it really the fans get into it, the depth guys get into it, and before you know it, the Bruins are winning 3-2. Yeah, you know, we joked about it on the show on Saturday. Billy Jeff, he said, “Go figure. The Bruins would snap their losing streak against one of the best teams in the West.” As PJ mentioned, Colorado had not lost in regulation, but the Bruins got it done. Razer, what were your takeaways from how and why they were finally able to get in the win call? Well, first takeaway, Jeremy Sony was fantastic. Two goals on 33 shots. Full saved above expected was around three. He only gave up the one. Uh the other thing that stood out to me was that they didn’t have a good start was one of the few games in the last five that they haven’t scored first. Colorado scores first. We’re going to talk about the start that Colorado has coming up, but they fought through it and and held with it and were able to get the two goals quickly in the first period and that allowed them to settle in. So, I like the fact that they were able to to bounce back rather than give up the lead. PJ, yeah, your takeaways from from that win. They’re the guys like scoring. Everyone likes scoring. They’re a team built to win 32 and 2 and that’s what the coach is trying to emphasize with their defensive zone play and they’re not they’ve got a lot of opportunities early in the season because everyone kind of makes mistakes. Um, and they’ve been beneficiary of some of them and getting a lot of games with a lot of goals, but their team built to play 3-2 and score goals from hard work. And I thought Arbertson’s goal was hard work. I think Geeky outraces the player at the end of the game for a wraparound. Another hard work goal. That’s their key to success and that’s what they have to stick to. All right, guys. Uh, a little bit of news here as we’ve been kind of waiting for what’s going on with Hampus Lynholm. Well, yesterday placed on injured reserve. He was constantly dayto-day but never really made his way back to the team. That injury happened on October 9th. Jonathan Aspiro recalled from Providence. So with that, let’s go to Adam Pelerin who is in Canada’s capital. Adam, you’re reporting today. Give us the goods on Hampus and Jonathan Ascuro and the expectations. Well, I’ll tell you the defensive depth is being tested early, isn’t it? You had the initial injury to Hampus Lindome and then Jordan Harris is called into action and Harris gets hurt. Mike Callahan gets called up. Now you got Hampus going on IR. And so Jonathan Asparo, as you mentioned, getting called up to the Bruins. He had a good training camp and a good preeason, but despite that, did not make the club out of camp, but he’s with the Bruins now. Won’t be playing tonight for Marco Sturm’s club. He will be on the ice for warm-ups, though. Meanwhile, Sturm did talk about what Aspro brings to the table, what he liked from training camp, and let’s hear from Aspro himself. just kind of enjoy time here. I’m just really excited to be part of this group of guys. What was the message uh in training camp? You were one of the the final uh transactions down the province. What was the message for Marcus? Uh just play hard, play everybody play their own game and stick to her system and have some fun on the ice. So I think yeah, he wants a competing team and just play hard. So his skating ability, I would say I think that that’s something uh really stood out to me. um skating and and obviously closing uh right away on especially on Dzone. So, uh again, he had a really good I guess last couple games in Providence and uh no um you know um I don’t have a problem even if you need him to put him in the lineup. So, Aspero not in the lineup. You will see him out on the ice for warm-ups though. So, his NHL debut will have to wait. Maybe it’ll be tomorrow when the Bruins play the second of a backto back against the Islanders. Meanwhile, Hamp’s Lindome situation. He’s on injury reserve. It dates back to October 9th. Asked Marco Sturm about that today. He said he is getting close. He’s feeling better, but they just have to be patient and make sure when he comes back, he stays in the lineup,
The Boston Bruins hope to continue winning as they take on the Ottawa Senators. Sophia, Razor, and PJ Stock break down tonight’s match-up on the Ultimate Bruins Show.
