The Roger McCreary Los Angeles Rams TRADE Is HIGHWAY Robbery… | Rams News |

The LA Rams have just made a trade before the deadline acquiring former Tennessee Titan or nickel Roger McCreary. He’s about 5’11. Um, drafted back in 2022 in the second round high draft pick out of Auburn. And honestly, this is a really good pickup for a Rams defense who’s already really damn good. Now, right here, we’re going to be in a cover two invert, which essentially means he’s going to be responsible for the deep half of the field. everyone else. I think you got your flats to the outside, you got your hook curls over the middle, and then you got a mid read. So, Tampa 2 defense, Roger coming out in an invert from the nickel from the slot. Now, immediately you’re going to see him drop back. Okay, so the first thing we notice about this play here is they have this deep route. It’s a clear route. Okay, they’ve got this route over the middle and they’ve also got a flat. This is really bringing the the soft cloud flat down. And obviously with the deep zone or the deep route, the deep third or deep half has to take that on. The goal is to have this thing break wide open, that in route going all the way across the field. Now Bo Nicks throws this thing anticipating that Roger McCreary is just going to take that deep route. But he looks back for the for the football, sees it, jumps it, and comes away with a really good interception. We watch this from the other side. Again, nice little cover two invert. They’re gonna have to bootleg or scramble outside of the pocket. And again, watch this pick. jumps it and then comes away with it. I like Roger McCury a lot for this Rams defense and I wanted to break down some of my favorite plays from this season. I know it’s only been eight weeks, but we’re going to do our best. He played amazing in this game versus Denver. Um he’s also, let’s see, he’s also had one sack, four pressures from the nickel. Um really good tackler in open space, 10 stops. Yeah, I’m uh definitely a big fan. We’re going to break down the film. Before we dive in, make sure you comment down below P2. Okay, that will tell me that you guys want more of these Rams videos. And uh with that being said, let’s dive in. Okay, another really good play here by Roger McCreary. We’re going to see him kind of in this nickel. His responsibility is getting out to the flats quickly. They are going to have a route get into the flats. I’m not sure if it’s here or if it’s here, but someone’s going to get into the flats. Now, your job whenever you’re playing within a zone coverage is to specifically read the quarterback’s eyes because the majority of the time, look, as he gets his eyes back to the quarterback here, he’s going to see Stafford looking to throw this down the field. So, instead of just staying locked in on this little shallow route in the in the flats, he says, “All right, bet. Let me go exactly where he’s looking.” plays the passing lane, disrupts a wideopen Devonte Adams at the sideline, and gets a nice PBU. Again, I’m telling you, this is a guy that you want to play a lot. Okay? Even if it’s just zone coverage, he’s really good in zone coverage. Now, listen, it’s tough at times, right? He’s not the biggest guy in the world, so you don’t really want him at the boundaries, but he’s so good in zone coverage where I wouldn’t mind sticking him in a couple of different spots and just seeing how he is able to handle the workload on the boundary. I I think he’ll be more of a nickel for them. Um, but man, in terms of a player that they’re getting, you’re getting a good player, someone that can help you win right away. What a play by Roger McCru right there. Love it. Now, another thing I like about Roger Mccuri is his ability to tackle in space. You’re going to see him at the top of your screen. The running back’s going to kind of get out on a little bit of a swing the outside. We’re going to be kind of in a soft coverage here. Um, not in man. So, essentially, we need a nickel or a slot to be good at tackling in space because this breaks wide open. You got a a solid 8 10 yards of separation here. quarterback throw dumps it down in in hoping that JK Dobbins who’s a good running back can make him miss an open space because the DB right there’s a size advantage there for the running back but Roger squares him up brings him down they get maybe a yard on that play maybe two but just another good job again very satisfied with Roger McCreary as an overall nickel I just think he’s going to fit fit in perfectly with what they already want to do. Monday Night Football is going to be amazing tonight. And I had a couple of picks for you guys. So, we could potentially over 1,000x our money. I think Buffalo is going to go up early. So, let’s look at his line of 115 and a half rushing and receiving um yards. And I’m going to go more than just 100. I think he’s going to catch the football a ton in this football game. I also like Josh Allen rushing, but I’m going to keep it at 25 and a half. Go more than 25. I think that’s fair. Um, you know, the Chicago Bears run defense is not very good at all. We’re going to go to rushing yards and I’m going to put it at 50. More than 50 rushing yards. I think that’s another one that’s pretty fair. Pretty fair. Um, one more. I want to go Kyle Pitts. Darnell Mooney, I believe, is out today. I could be wrong, but 25 receiving yards more than I feel like is pretty fair. So, Bejon rush receiving uh Josh Allen rushing, Jakori 50, Kyle Pittz 25 plus. I feel like that’s fair. He’s not afraid to put his body on the line. And here’s a play right here. You get a little bit of priest that motion by the tight end. They’re going to hand the ball off to Kron Williams. He’s going to initially set the edge, right? Make sure if this running back cuts to the outside, we’re there. But not only that, doesn’t overcommit too early. The last thing you’d want is him to get to the outside here as the running back breaks this up his initial gap. Right. So instead of overcommitting, he waits until the running back makes the decision and then plugs the gap. Perfect job. Looked like a linebacker on that play with his ability to read, react, and attack without overcommitting a little bit early. And here’s a good opportunity where he could have a lot of guys would have committed early to the outside trying to get him in the back field and then boom, you’re a second late. Cuts up and he’s gone. So, when I look at Roger McCra, I see a player that is only 25 years old, will be 26 in a couple months, um, but is very dynamic in terms of being able to help stop the run, is a good open field tackler, can get to the quarterback on blitzes, um, and can play very, very well in zone coverage. I think he is a guy that’s going to fit in perfectly with what they want to do. Rams already have a damn good defense. Number two in points allowed per game. Number one in touchdowns allowed per game. Number eight in yards allowed per carry. Number one in rushing touchdowns allowed per game. Number seven in completion percentage allowed. Now they do need to force some more interceptions and that’s a reason you go out and get a guy like Raj McCreer. He already has one this year. Maybe he can generate one or two more throughout the season. Number four in QB sack percentage. This team is really good and they just added a good player to make them more dynamic on the defensive side of the ball. I am pumped up about it. Let me know what you guys think in the comments.
