Minnesota Vikings News Dump (10.27.25) | JJ to Start, Talent Development, Hargrave’s Reduced Role

[Music] I am a sad to know one day. What’s going on Jeromes? Happy Monday. Birds are indeed chirping and stuff and it’s time for another Vikings news dump. So, the king has returned allegedly. Jonathan James McCarthy is in line to start week nine on the road at Detroit next week. Vikings fan page. Vikings quarterback JJ McCarthy, barring a setback, is expected to start next Sunday against the Lions per Ian Rapaort of NFL Network. Seven weeks a later after his high ankle sprain, McCarthy will return to action. Now, I’m fired up, man. Fired up. And it’s so weird like like this team has been so damn disappointing especially in the trenches especially on defense where going into the season it’s just like hey we just need average quarterback play and this is going to be a team that’s going to contend for the NFC Championship and potentially Super Bowl right and Quy Kevin McConnell talking about a final four team that can run the ball and play good defense timely quarterback play that hasn’t quite panned out thus far right And I I I know that a lot of Vikings fans are upset, but going going through the win on the road against against Chicago, eh, it was a fluke. You had three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, that’s a fluke. Yeah. A winning on the road Monday Night Football against a divisional opponent. Yeah. And also, hey, if the Bears are good, then that was a good win. If the Bears are bad, the Bears are bad. All right? So, make up your mind. Also, no one is good or bad this season except for the Colts. That’s what it comes down to. Uh the Falcons, whatever. no call, no show, a beatd down against the Bengals. Uh they sort of gave it away against the Steelers. That was a very winnable game. Uh got a win at the end against Cleveland, which uh then I feel like the Eagles game perfectly encapsulates what this team is this season. One to six in the red zone, played up to a quality opponent, just gave it away at the at the end, and you just couldn’t make a couple plays, right? There was issues all over the place. Penalties, big-time plays, and yeah, you lost a one-score game at the end of the day, right? I I feel like that’s the perfect microcosm for the Vikings so far this season. It’s lack of execution, sloppiness, and the again, just by dent of this being a talented football team that is underachieved. It’s where it is. Uh then the Chargers game, that was a no call, no show. That was just a that was no guda. Yeah. uh at Detroit. It’s going to be a good one. You’re you’re in division. You’re on the road. Uh Detroit has a full steam ahead as Reggie Miller would say, and they’re off the buy and the Vikings got the mini buy, but the Lions are off the bye-bye by. So, we’ll see. We’ll see. Especially the way that the Vikings have been gashed uh by the run. Uh you had Kamani Vidal, you had Kenneth Gainwell looking like superstars, and we’ll see what they do against Gibbs of Montgomery. I don’t know, man. Yeah. Uh, but JJ, it’s time, man. It’s time. Like we we talked about again just average quarterback play. We’re going to need more. We’re going to need more because this ain’t a scene. This is a gosh darn arms race, man. So, spin it. Fire the effing pig skin. Let’s go. Also, Kevin McConnell, can we please put JJ McCarthy in advantage situations and and hopefully ideally we we’ll get some information, you know, Kevin McConnell presser uh today. In all likelihood, we’ll get some news about Darasaw, get news about O’Neal, get news about Gernar, get news about Josh Oliver. It’d be good. How about CJ Hammond’s weird hand? Yeah. Also, all right, so trade rumors, uh, Zack Kelberman beat writer for the Broncos. That blog, right? You know, I mean, rumor the Broncos have interest in training for Vikings tight end TJ Hawinson. Now, they do have Evan Ingram, right? And the Rams have also been uh tied in with Hawinson as well. Of course, they have Higgby, but I don’t know. In my opinion, you have to make a decision on Hawinson this off seasonason because his contracts out of guaranteed money. He’s got a significantly large base salary and you’re going to have to extend him, you know, work around that cap number or it it may come down to a spot where you have to pick between Hawinson and Addison, right? And for me, I’d pick Addison. I I think Addison’s a more effective and explosive player. He’s also younger and it’s probably going to cost almost twice as much, you know, per year. But I I would pick Addison if if it came down to it. But I I think for the rest of the season, getting the best possible look for JJ McCarthy absent getting a high second round pick or projected high second round pick. Nah, don’t borrow with them. Speaking of tight ends, so Josh Oliver at the Wolves game, the the Wolves got got a nice little win. We’re in the trees. Anthony Edwards, of course, with the hamstring. So, whenever I I wager American currency on the Timberwolves minus 11 and a half, of course, Anthony Edwards like, “Ah, my hamstring.” Uh but Josh Oliver, so TBD about the ankle, uh and he wasn’t in a walking boot or a a wrap as it were. Uh didn’t see any reports of that. So hopefully he’ll be good because Oliver is a huge part of the running game and you saw how the running game was just inept after Josh Oliver went out of the game so early. I think that was a major part of it. So hopefully he will be good to go. All right. And the Wolves trees, like we said, it’s looking good. taking my back. Come on, baby. All right. Also talked about Jaylen Redmond has been phenomenal this year and he’s just rising up out of nowhere and honestly oo. So Jonathan Allen’s probably a one and done with the Vikings. You know, despite the three-year uh $51 million deal, it basically is a one-year deal. The Vikings can escape for it pretty easily. And with Redmond, if he switches to the 93, oh my goodness, you got jumping John Randall, you got Kevin Williams, who should be in the Hall of Fame, and they got Jaylen Redmond. Woo! Pissed off for greatness. All right, so Redmond has been great this year at kind of at the expense of Javon Harve. Bucks fan page again. Uh Javon Harra played a season low, 30% of snaps on Thursday night. Hargrave has seen his role diminish with the emergence of Jaylen Redmond. on the year he has 19 total tackles, 15 quarterback pressures, uh, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and one quarterback hit. Now, the two sacks, and about half of his pressures were week one against the Bears, like we we thought that Allen Harrave, we’re just going to do that all season. Nope. It’s kind of a one and done, right? Uh, but honestly, you Hargrave too, the Vikings can’t get out from under his contract. And you, we talked about the Vikings are underwater for the 2026 cap. There’s going to be a lot of veteran players whose contracts are going to be just sort of swept off the books, right? So, I’m not too worried about it. But also, that that’s perfectly fine. Hey, the best player plays, no matter what your veteran status is, no matter what your contract is, best players play. That’s the way it should be around around the league. So, the Bears So, the Bears benefited from Oh, Lamar’s a full participant betting line. Oh, he’s gone. Uh but they still got whooped on the road. Caleb Williams looked terrible throwing interception uh towards the end uh when they had a chance to drive down and win. But they they can’t even beat the one and five Ravens with with Snoop Huntley at quarterback. Okay. And of course, you know, the Bears tiptoe through the tulips. Oh, the Bears get the Ravens without Lamar, but the Vikings in two weeks get the Ravens with Lamar and it pissed off Lamar. So, yeah, we’ll see. Also, I refuse to show the final score or anything that happened in last night’s Sunday Night Football debacle, but yeah, Aon Rogers is cooked. I’m not seeing a lot of uh Vikings fans clamor. It’s like, oh yeah, Rogers. Yeah, we should have got him. Uh he’s absolutely Charlie Czech down there. Down there. There’s no AOT. There’s no spice to his game. There’s no nothinging. Yeah. And Jordan Love. Maybe the Steelers defense is just bad now. I don’t know. They’ve had a ton ton of injuries since uh the Vikings played the Steelers. So, I don’t know. Yeah. Also, yeah, speaking of firing the effing pixie in, uh, underdog NFL Drake May during the Patriots fivegame winning streak, uh, completing about 75% of his passes, 1241 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, one pick, a 134.1 quarterback rating, which is which is good. It’s pretty good, right? And, and I know Vikings fans, oh, they should trade up for Drake May. The Patriots are never trading that pick, man. So, it is what it is. But you know, Drake May, he’s looking really damn good. Honestly, I if you take all the names off the jerseys and all the faces and all the fingernails and all the dental records off weight been reading too many of those books, but uh right now Drake May probably has the best deep ball in the league. It’s looking good. It’s looking good, man. Yeah. Uh also the opposite of looking good. So Scataboo, you know, we’re not showing the the injury, but we we can’t have nice things, you know, Cam was out there just running like like John Rigggins and Mike Allott and the one good year Pton Hillis put together, right? And it breaks his ankle. Had to have emergency surgery. Anytimes that they say aircast on the on the broadcast, it’s a bad thing. It’s very, very bad. So, you know, prayers up for Skyaboo. Uh the Giants already done Malik Neighbors. So Jackson darts basically by himself and the Vikings do play at the Giants uh in a couple weeks. So yeah. Yeah. Also Kurt Cousins started for Michael Penn who’s dealing with some I don’t know something. Uh and it it would have been the absolute worst for the discourse on social medias and in the comments section if Kurt Cousins came out and just had a balls out game, you know, because then you have Darnell looking good. You have Daniel Jones looking good, Rogers kind of looked good before last night. Uh then you had Kurt looking good. And then also uh you have like Brad Barry looking good. You had Ed Ingram looking good. You have Mai Blackman looking great with the with the Colts. And just like is it a talent issue or is it a lack of development issue? Don’t know. Yeah. Uh but Cousins uh sort of inert 21 to 31 a buck 73 had a sack. I I wasn’t able to watch any part of this game, but all I all I know is so sometimes not seeing the game, just seeing uh you know their fan base’s reactions on social media and Falcons fans are so pissed. They want Raheem Morris fired. They want Zack Robinson fired because remember they were all big and bad dumping their chests and then Yeah. Yeah. Uh they’re outscored 64-10 against the Panthers and the Dolphins. Hya, man. Also, Eagle. Oh, weird. The Eagles are the beneficiaries of a very controversial call. So, the tush push is poorly officiated, right? Only Tyler Baddy can stop it. And there was a blown dead poor progress when clearly was not and Herz lost the football. Would it have made a difference in the game? probably not. But also just getting these calls right, it’s what matters. And it’s not so much that bush is a competitive disadvantage. Other teams can do it, sure. But just officiator properly, like enforce the rules are on the books. That’s all we’re asking for. Also, so generally, you know, when I peruse the comments, it’s just like, h kind of funny, right? Uh but uh YG27, this one just got me. J McCarthy East equals Hershel Walker. Major fail. Vikings have a history of making poor decisions and crucial moments. That’s like the blanket statement of all blankets. Also, how do you compare a draft pick? Yes, you traded up for to go get him. You trade up one spot. Cool. To this side of Deshun Watson, the worst trade in athlete history. Actually, the Trey Lance trade might be just as bad, but they got Brock Pury out of it. So, maybe maybe he’ll get out of his soft benching sometime soon. Yeah. Uh, but I don’t know, man. Like I I I know that every fan base is a bell curve. There is a decent amount of the fan base who do not deserve JJ McCarthy if he pans out and becomes a franchise quarterback. Like straight up, right? Um, you kind of get what you get. And I think this is about Jets fans. I think I read this somewhere where it’s like they’re only happy if they’re unhappy, right? And I feel like that’s a portion of every fan base. So, I don’t know. I don’t know. Yeah. Anyways, that’s it. That’s at uh probably hear from Kevin McConnell at some point today. Looking ahead, it is indeed Lions week. Woo! Get the season back on track, baby. Let’s go. Uh you guys are the absolute best you to do. Skull production value.

  1. I love you Andy but the lions are going to walk over us with the run, if the chargers 3rd string running back can do as good as he did against us the lions are gonna have a field day this weekend 😢

  2. Get JJ his reps and see what he’s got for the season. Our chance of making the playoffs is already less than 10%.
Trade hock. Move on from Jonathan allen and hargrave. Pay Jalen Redmond. Retire smith. Cut okudah. And for the love of Christ have a good draft 😭

  3. Still 1-0 in division.
If we win this game against Lions we are 2-0 and only have one away game at GB in the division left with 3 divisional games remaining at home, and we can go 5-1/6-0 in division thats 4th seed at worst. Skol!!!

  4. I'm nervous for JJ. If the O-line doesn't protect, JJ is bound to get crushed. And with KOC looking defeated in all conferences, who knows if he can come up with a solid game plan?…Keeping Skol alive is proving to be rather difficult…but here's to hoping…🤞

  5. Yeah, where are all those "fans" who said we should have signed Rodgers? Did you see last night's game when the Steelers' o-line played like crap just like our o-line? Old man AARon would not have survived if he was on this team.

  6. Enough with the we should have traded to get D. Maye..the opening offer to get them on the phone was 4 #1s…that's what the pats wanted to start the negotiations. Enough already…

  7. There is no way The walker deal in any way compares to McCarthy. I would never gamble on NBA games with the history of fixing. I think the NFL is suspect due to inconsistent rulings in re catches/fumbles and timely penalties to direct outcomes.

  8. Think it might be time to realize that KOCs offensive playcall is not awesome…I think my whole life I've heard how important a strong run game is and KOC is almost committed to not having a big time run game and I also feel as though jones is not a very good running rb, good pass catcher but not very good runner

  9. One thing I have been thinking of is Ryan Grigson. He is Assistant GM and former Colts GM. I looked at his tenure and it was horrendous. His drafting really stuck out to me. Over his 4 years he drafted arguably only 3 impact players out of all of his drafts. It would make some sense if he is getting his grubby hands over our drafts. Good thought experiment even tho we will never know how much power he has over the roster.
