The Saints Get GREAT News Despite Getting Blown Out By The Buccaneers
[Music] The Buccaneers put BTA yesterday on the Saints, but despite that, we have great news. You’re watching Saints Now by Chat Sports. Welcome into Overreaction Monday. Yesterday was a tough loss. The team looks terrible. The offense is inefficient. The defense played well. But great news, Saints fans. The number one overall pick belongs to the New Orleans Saints. And with the number one overall pick, anything is possible. I know that this season sucks. I know that this year has been a drag. And I understand that we’re all frustrated. But here’s the beauty of it all. You suffer for a few months and then you get nothing but optimism in the offseason. You get a first overall pick to either trade, to keep, to pick a very exciting player that will be a contributor and help change the direction of this franchise. The number one overall pick makes the offseason so interesting in my opinion. With the Jets winning yesterday, coming back against the the Bengals, and the Saints losing, the New Orleans Saints have the number one overall pick. And this off season has so much opportunity. If you do have the number one overall pick, you have so much control. You can trade it. You can keep it. You can use it to get a player. You can use it to get extra picks in the future. I guess you could call it a perk of being a rebuilding team. You get the number one overall pick. So, you get the shiny toy, the bell of the ball all off season long. So, we have a laundry list of roster needs for what it’s worth. But, the biggest thing you need is quality playmakers. You just need somebody who’s going to be a game changer. You need somebody who’s going to change the direction of this franchise. I mean, honestly, you could really go in any direction here. Wide receiver wouldn’t be a bad pick, number one overall. Maybe, maybe not. I don’t know. But you need wide receiver, you need a tight end, you need an interior offensive lineman, you need an edge rusher, you need DBs, you need running backs, you need quarterbacks, you need pretty much everything. So, with the number one overall pick, the future is bright. There is so much opportunity here, but the roster needs are endless. So, I cannot stress this enough. Mickey Lumis, Kell Moore, please, if you listen to one part of this video, I know that there are people in the Saints front office that have watched this content. I know that there are players who tune in. Please, please, please get this message across. You cannot afford to miss on draft picks. E, you cannot anymore. This is not an off seasonason to go and get a good project or a developmental piece. Go get the top playmaker in college football. Go get the number one player. Go get the best person to help your team. We have had a huge problem in the past of drafting players in the first, second, third round that have just done nothing. And when you have the number one overall pick, there’s nothing that’s off the table. There’s nothing that’s off the table. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to potentially draft a quarterback. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to draft an edge rusher. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to go draft a DB. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to trade back and go and get extra capital for the future. You only have five picks. There’s so much you could do here. So, what would you do if you were Mickey Lumis? Share your thoughts. get in the comment section if you do end up with the number one overall pick, which right now that’s looking like the trend is happening this way, what would you do with it? Reminder, we do still have to play the Titans, the Jets, and the Dolphins later on this season. Those will all three be separate toilet bowl games. But needless to say, right now, the New Orleans Saints hold the number one overall pick. Who are you picking? What are you doing? Are you trading back? Are you trading out of it? Are you going and getting a player? Let me know in the comments section. By the way, speaking of draft, uh, today we’re going to be live at 3 p.m. Central time. I’m going to be doing my mockdraft 2.0. First time that we’re going to be doing a mockdraft on this channel with the number one overall selection. It’s going to be really, really fun. We’re not going to do trades because we like to have a little bit of fun with the first few of them. And then we’ll get into like doing some more complex stuff, but we’re going to be doing mockdraft 2.0 3 p.m. Central time live here on Saints Now by Chat Sports. Make sure you subscribe, tune in, and uh, turn on your notifications because we’ll have a lot more fun content as well. Now, let’s get into some overreactions. I guess number one overreaction is that it’s great news that we’re playing terrible because we have the number one overall pick. But that is something to celebrate. But in terms of overreactions from this game yesterday, uh start Tyler Shuck. Overreaction number one. It’s time to start him. The Spencer Rattler experiment is over. We know what we know about him. He is what he is. And maybe he got dealt a bad hand. That’s fair to say, but it’s time for Tyler Shaw. Like we you cannot say that Spencer Rattler this season hasn’t gotten a chance. Uh yesterday we saw both of these players get on the field. Spencer Rattler was benched uh after a little bit into the third quarter. Uh Kell Moore wanted to give Rattler the opportunity to try to get something going in the half because the Saints it for this game were still in and with a potential to win. I mean it was still a very close game. So Spencer Rattler was given another opportunity. But I mean he’s had so many turnovers. He has started to play really really poor football. And I’m not going to sit here and say it’s all on him because yes, there have been drop issues. Yes, there have been penalties, but like it’s starting to really become unraveled. Like you’re getting delay of games in your own home stadium. That’s just disgusting. Like it’s just embarrassing quite frankly. And and you’re not getting set. The offense isn’t efficient. We’re not scoring touchdowns. We’re not even getting into the red zone. Like it’s just disgusting. And Kell Moore, he spoke about this to media yesterday in his press conference saying, “I’m not into flip-fpping quarterbacks. We do have some decisions on offense in the next 40 hours to make and we’ll do this collectively. So, in my personal opinion, I do think that the decision that will be made is Spencer Rattler will still actually be the starter, but then the by-week is when there will be decisions. I I think that’s what they’re going to end up doing here. Uh they wanted to get a spark on offense. That’s why Tyler Shuck took the field. And I I just think we know what we know about Spencer Rattler. And and and maybe he was dealt a fair an unfair hand. Maybe he was put in a shitty situation. Maybe he did get screwed. that that’s totally fair to say that that that that could be true. Doesn’t matter. That’s life in the NFL. If you if you’re not going to turn it around, it’s pretty pretty quick. You need to be pretty quick with showing that you are the guy. And I understand that you do deserve an opportunity to develop quarterbacks. I I hear that. But Kell Moore handpicked Tyler Shuck. So Kell Moore is going to favor Tyler Shuck. Whether you like it or not, Spencer Rattler, I think, is going to be benched in the near future. By week, probably by then, but maybe even this week. We’ll see. 48 hours. That’s a pretty quick turnaround to see what’s going to happen because they want to give the quarterback that starts this week against the Rams the entire week, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday to practice with the first team. So, got to make a decision pretty quick and we’ll see what happens. Reminder live later on because you know there’s going to be news. Kell Moore is going to talk to media later today. So, we’ll see what happens. Now, what should the Saints do with Spencer Rattler? Week nine. Type S for start, type B for bench. If you’re Kell Moore, what decision are you making? Uh, overreaction number two. It’s time for a fire cell. It’s time to trade everything away. Trade away all the players. Just get as many draft picks as we possibly can. Overreaction number two. Going to discuss this. Talk about some trade candidates here in just one moment. But first things first, got to tell you guys about today’s presenting sponsor, and that is Pri. I absolutely love Prize Picks. I play it every single time I’m watching football. And we make decisions every single day. But over on Prize Pick, being right can get you paid. So don’t miss any of the excitement this season on Prize Pix where it’s good to be right. Now Prize Pix is the only app that offers stacks, meaning you can pick the same player up to three times in the same lineup. If you want to pick more or less or if you, excuse me, if you want to pick more on Josh Allen’s pass yards, rush yards, and touchdowns, now you can pick all of them in the same lineup only on prize picks. And it’s super easy to play. You just pick more or less on at least two player stats. And if you get it right, you can cash in. And it’s available in 40 plus states, including California, Texas, and Georgia. If you need to know how it works, I got a little bit of an example for you. Monday Night Football tonight, Matt Gay, I’m going to take him to make one field goal. Patrick Mahomes is going with the less on his passing yards and Rasheed Rice going with the more on his receiving or yeah, receiving yards. So, if you want to follow these picks, if you want to tail them, don’t really care what you do, just make sure you do it over on prize picks. Go turn your ball knowledge into cold hard cash. It’s so easy. I like to say that Falcons fans could do it and even make some money. But we have a pretty sweet deal for you. If you download the Prize Picks app today, use code CLNS, you’ll get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Click the link in the comments or description to get started with Prize Picks today. Shout out to Prize Pix where it’s good to be right. All righty, let’s talk about the fire sale because I do think it’s time to have this conversation. Obviously, the trade deadline November 4th. It’s right around the corner. It will be here before you know it. There are a handful of players that New Orleans have been getting calls on that there have been reports about that. There’s been rumors, chatter, whatever you want to call it, but there has been smoke around the New Orleans Saints making trades and where there’s smoke, there is fire. So, there are some trade candidates that New Orleans could offload here. Uh reports around Chris Olve are that there is an extension in the works there. Rasheed Shahed if uh Chris Olave does get extended this year could be a player that does get dealt. Brandon Cooks has recently been added into the trade buzz. Ian Rapaort putting out some updates that teams are interested in him. Now Pete Werner could be dealt with the emergence of Isaiah Stalird and Danny Stzman. Carl Granderson could get you some nice return. Maybe even Alante Taylor. Dear Davis comes to mind. Cam Jordan comes to mind. There’s a lot of players out there that the New Orleans Saints could look to deal. And for what it’s worth, I do think it makes some sense to trade some of these players. And look, it sucks that we’re having this conversation, but this is rebuilding. This this is part of it, unfortunately. And when you don’t have all of your picks and you’ve traded away picks, it makes it a little bit tough as a rebuilding team to walk in with only five selections. No fourth, no seventh round pick in this upcoming draft. In 2027, no sixth or no seventh round pick. In 2028, you have no sixth, but you have three seventh round picks. And then in 2029, that’s when you get back to being on track with all seven rounds, all seven picks. And like I said earlier, they have a laundry list of needs, man. Um, wide receiver, tight end, edge rusher, corner, safety, running back, maybe quarterback. We still got to figure out what’s up with Tyler Shucks. Jury’s out on him. We’ll see what happens. But you have a laundry list of needs and you cannot fulfill those needs with five picks. And sure, you can address a lot of this in free agency and I do think that they should be active in the free agency market, but I think that the New Orleans Saints need to prioritize drafting youth and building this from the ground up because if you have younger players on cheaper contracts, you can really stretch this thing out and and hopefully turn this whole thing around. Too many needs to walk in with just five picks. So, if I had to pick a couple guys that I would just prefer to just trade away and be okay with it, Carl Granderson, Pete Warner probably the two that I would want to trade away. Um, I think it’s risky to move off of wide receivers, especially if you’re going to start Tyler Shuck. Moving away from Chris, moving away from Rasheed Shahid, that could be a really dangerous decision because if you can’t get a nice return in draft capital for one of those players, you’re going to potentially suffer if you do trade away those guys. It just doesn’t make sense. Like it hurts the development. This offense already sucks. Why would you trade away your playmakers? I would prefer to trade some of those defensive pieces. Now, overreaction number three, this team just doesn’t have an identity. No offensive identity. They we don’t we don’t know what we’re doing. We don’t we don’t we don’t know if we’re a rushing team. We don’t know if we’re a passing team. We don’t know if we’re a ground and pound. We don’t know if we’re deep shots. We really don’t know what we’re doing. What I do know is that we suck and that this offense is terrible and that this offense struggles to finish drives. This offense struggles to make big plays. This offense struggles to create big plays. This offense struggles to be explosive. They have no spark. They don’t do anything at all. Well, they shoot themselves in the foot every opportunity they get. Listen. One, two, three, four, five different players had 15 carries for 48 yards. Alva Chimera, six carries for 21 yards. Tyler Shuck, three carries for 12 yards. Defensive Rattler three carries for 12 yards. Ta Hill two for six. Chris Olive 1 for negative3. 15 carries for 48 yards. You threw the ball 51 times for 227 yards. 21 throws from Spencer Radler. Tyler Shuck tossed it 30 times. What is our identity? Look at this offense. What What is the identity here? What What exactly are we? What What is Kellen Moore trying to do here? I don’t by by the way, I’m not saying I don’t trust Kell Moore. I just think that this is the first year of this team. He is in the midst of a rebuild. He is trying to figure it out, too. There is no alphas on this team. There is nobody on this offense that’s just going to take over and say, I I want to win this game and I’m the best player on the field, so we’re going to go win it or I I’m going to win this play at least. Like, there’s nobody on this offense that’s an alpha. They’re either aging out or they’re underperforming or they’re overpaid and it just doesn’t justify the money. Caesar Ruiz, Jawan Johnson, can’t justify that money. Alvin Chimera, he’s aging out. Taesm Hill, he’s aging out. Like, there’s nobody on this offense that you’re like, that’s an alpha. That That is a dude. You have nobody. And the Saints need that. And And I know when it comes to the offense, 71 total plays, 275 yards. You, fun fact, had more yards on offense. Listen to this. Tampa Bay ran 56 plays for 212 yards and you ran 71 plays for 275. Tampa controlled the clock but you controlled the movement of the football. You didn’t even get into the red zone until 10 seconds remaining in the game. That that that is not sustainable. That is quite frankly dog And deep down, like I know that a lot of us were saying, “No, no, it’s gonna be a 10- win season. It’s gonna be eight, nine wins.” No, no, it never was. It wasn’t. And I know that a lot of us tried to say it would be. I was one of those people. I I genuinely at one point believed, you know, maybe eight wins is actually possible. We all knew the season was going to be tough, though. We all knew it wasn’t going to be fun. We all knew there was going to be struggles. That does not change the fact that rebuilding in year one sucks. Year two, year three, have some patience because I think we’re on the right track. I’ve said this a million times. We are the Lions in 2021. Dan Campbell’s first year. You’re going to be scrappy. You’re going to look crappy. You’re going to make mistakes. It’s the first year of this thing. Just give it some time. Be patient. Still doesn’t change the fact this sucks. How many games do you think New Orleans will win this season? I’m going to say three. I I would I if we can get three, awesome. If you can get five and match last year, chef’s kiss. That is that is the goal at this point. Just try to get to five. But realistically, I think three is kind of where we’re going to land. We’ll be live later on today. Make sure you subscribe to the channel, turn on your notifications. 3 p.m. Central time, going to do a mock draft. Going to give you the latest on the trade rumors. And then, of course, we’re going to be doing some interactive content all throughout the show. So, be sure to turn on your notifications. We will see you guys later on. Y’all stay golden. [Music]

What should the Saints do if they have the #1 pick?
The Saints only good player is Demario Davis
Great ..the #1 pick…Silly me I thought they played for the Lombardi trophy not the #1pick..this is a major move in the wrong direction..Loomis needs to be FIRED before he damages this team any further
That's life in New Orleans
Now trading a 4th round pick to Denver for Vele seems like questionable decision
The game ball probably went to Blake Grupe for scoring the only points for the Saints
It's not all bad in New Orleans. Bourbon Street is still kicking 👍
As much as I hate to say it, We should trade AK before hes too old
Bench rattler start shough
Bobby Hebert is not happy about the Saints performance this year
Trade and get a bunch of draft capital
UNLESS you can get a really top quality generational talent level QB, then I would trade back in the first round for more picks…
Saints need to draft a quarterback
Jim Mora after that game yesterday would have been irate .
Kellen Moore is the problem. Tyler looked bad. I understand the change. I would have made it too but, I am convinced that it is the coaching staff and philosophy that are the reason this rebuild is not rebuilding. Rattler is not the issue. He still played better than Shough. That being said, they have already exceeded my y expectations. I say use the #1 pick to find a better coach.
Manning out of Texas without a A level quarterback they will just be average at best , they MUST draft or trade for a star quarterback
Thanks for the optimism, T!
Trsde the #1 for a 1 and 2 this year, a 1 and 3 next year, and anything else you can milk out of the sucker that bites
The worst thing they can do right now is win. I know they won’t tank on purpose but I would rather suffer a few more months and have the number one pick or at least top 3 to rebuild.
Trade back, get draft capita
this offense is horrible. thats on kellen and the OC. I am going to be fr we need to trade two wrs, werner and ruiz.
Aye mickey gotta go, Moore not a head coach he's an oc that got lucky in Philly we not Philly obviously and it shows…
We trying to get Manning lol
I said it they wanted the 1 pick they are going after arch grandson
What I would do if I were Mickey Loomis my first step would be firing myself and accepting the fact that I haven't been doing a good enough job the past few years and give somebody else an opportunity to make better decisions 😅
I love Spencer Rattler but I want to see Tyler Shough, i'm a numbers guy and when I was looking at how they both played that day and I saw that Tyler had almost the same stats as Spencer and Spencer's played how many games? There's your answer we need to see more Tyler, and we need a lot more playmaking going on from our WRs
You need a quarterback and wideresiver
Loomis will ruin that 1st pick
Fire Loomis before the draft otherwise another swing and miss
Tbf rattlers average depth of target is about 5.4 this year. Where as shoughs is about 9.0 thats just one game but statstically its been on trend since his texas techs days. Shough fits more into the offense then rattler does.
get the number 1 qb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GET. RID. OF. LOOMIS!
If you end up being the #1 pick, it’s best you trade back and stock up more picks. Especially if you only have 5 picks and can’t draft for shit. You take your chances of more picks
Never forget that we went from 3-13 to the NFC Championship
I bet they don't get a QB they prolly don't get a big top WRs …They gonna get an Offensive lineman
Take that number one draft pick and send it to Cleveland and bring Sanders to New Orleans
Kellen Moore can go back to Philadelphia if you ask me
End of year we won't have the number 1 pick also it doesn't matter saints are not a good drafting team they shine with FA
I think they should send Spancer to ARIZONA then you’ll see what he can do with a team and staff that are on the same page.
I have no confidence in Loomis. Not expecting Sough to do much more than rattler but open to be shocked. Pre-season showed me they the same dude and we need so much for either 1 of them or a future QB to do well.
Hire Brees Team President
Fire LOOMIS HIRE PEYTON OR ELI GM
BENCH PEOPLE
83 special teams/bench
AK41 missing blocks
Bench DLINE NON ACHIEVERS
BENCH OLINE NON ACHIEVERS
FIRE LOOMIS
FORGET THE TAMPA GAME MEANS NOTHING
STOP GLORIFYING SEAN PAYTON
If we get choose to select a qb please atleast get sellers i feel like hes a virstile player
Or even caleb downs
HOT TAKE TRADE BACK AND GET JERMIAH LOVE KELLEN MOORE'S SAQUON BARKLEY
QB until we get a game changer
B
Rattler got dealt a bad hand. Play shough so we can move on past this and draft a QB in the first round. Neither is anything more than a backup in the league
