Is Jon Heyman giving Astros fans false hopes? Buy or sell Gore or Alonso?

All right, so a lot of things are being talked about right now. One is the Seattle Mariners are not in the World Series and John Haymon is spreading rumors about the Astros again. Are they true? What’s realistic? Let’s get this off season started on a hot stove note right now. Y Diaz, this is Lock on Astros. Hello and welcome to Locked on Astros, your daily Astros podcast. Here are your hosts, Eric the Man Heisman, and Brett Htown Wheelhouse Chansy. We are Lock on Houston Astros and we hope that you join us for a daily lockdown Astros podcast. My name is Eric Heisman. In a little bit, we’ll be talking to you about why it’s important to be everydayer. Uh somebody that listens to our podcast every day. And there’s going to be a special little club coming up. We’ll talk about that closer to time. But we appreciate everybody that makes us your first listen on YouTube. We’re trying to get down to 16 or up to 16,000 subscribers. So go and make us your first listen all off seasonason. Between Brett and I, we have over 18 years of podcasting experience. We are not going away. We are not going Cancun with the rest of the team. We are going to be here all off season trying to figure out what’s going on and we’re not definitely not going with the Seattle Mariners. But, uh, on this episode, we’re going to be talking about John Haymon. I know that’s not Brett’s favorite person, but John Heymon came out and got started. The World Series hasn’t even started yet, but John Haymon was already throwing some information out there. And granted, this was just in response to some fans questions, but he said the Astros can absolutely go out there and get McKenzie Gore and they should and that he suggested that Ponzo is absolutely a target for the Astros. And we’ll talk about what to do with Christian Walker. Well, this is what he said to do. And then why did Nate Pearson choose Houston over other teams? So that’s what we’ll be talking about on this episode of the Lockdown Astros podcast. Hey Brett, it’s been a couple days. It has been. And you know this is this is one of those times of year where as a fan you can get really excited and really frustrated all at the same time. Yeah. And it’s a never- ending cycle until December until we find out what the heck is going to go down with the Houston Astros. Um, so John Haymon, my favorite person on X, um, who blocked me some years ago, uh, because I gave him crap for continuing to give the Astros crap about this 2017 scandal. And I guess he didn’t like what I had to say because I called him out on his BS. And so since then, he’s blocked me. It’s okay. I can still see everything he tweets on the locked on Astros X and you share stuff with me. So, as I call him, I’m going to say it. Block boy. It’s what I call him. Um, John Haymon. Look, these reporters, some of them have ties with agents. Some of them have ties with agencies and there is some of them have ties with teams. With teams, you’re right. And so sometimes that clouds the message or that’s why during this season we’ve got to take everything with a grain of salt. Anything’s possible but not all things are probable in the baseball world. And so let’s just get right down to it. Um more than likely from Valdez is gone. I I don’t see a a road forward unless Crane has a change of heart and does something he’s never done. Um, and so with that being said, who are you going to have to replace him? You’re not going to depend on the rookie arms to replace 180 to 200 innings pitched, someone like a Mackenzie Gore can do that. So, while on paper and in the roster lineup, it makes sense to have Mackenzie Gore on this team, um, his age is prime. um what he has left in availability as far as controllable years is would be really beneficial for the Astros. Um I know last year he was first half, second half McKenzie Gore, he was good, he was bad, but his upside is massive and so this is a name that I would not mind entertaining. But tonight we’ve got to discuss like is something like this realistic because this would be a trade, Eric. wouldn’t be coming over as a free agent. So, let me throw it to you. Um, what are we looking at? What do you think could be a possible trade scenario? And I’ll kind of tell you where I am on that. Well, before we get to the trade scenario, this is what John Haymon said. I could definitely see that happening. Gore should be and likely will be traded this off season. And with Houston potentially losing from Valdez, it feels like a great fit. So, he didn’t come out and basically say, “Yes, he’s going to Houston.” All signs point to Houston. But, of course, the Astros are a great fit. They are in need of a starting pitcher. Like I talked about the other day, like you just laid out right there, it’s hard to, as much as we get frustrated sometimes with Rome Valdez, he is still that guy that can go out there and give you 200 innings. And uh some of them are good, some of them are blowup innings, but uh for the most part, he would be miss out his rotation. And like you said, you’re not going to just replace him with just some guy. You need to go out there and get a guy because like I laid out in the other podcast, you don’t have a number two guy right now. Mackenzie Gore, 26 years old, he has two years of control left. And um I know a lot of people will point to what he did last year. He was on a bad team. He had a three war even on a bad team with a 417 erra. He had 185 strikeouts and 159.2 innings pitch. His whip was not that great, but it was 1.353 and 30 starts. And I know um a lot of people point, well, you had the five wins, 15 losses. That means he sucks. Once again, I’m going to point out he was on a bad team. He didn’t get a lot of run support and but just a year before just keep in mind that his erra was 3.90. He had 181 strikeouts and 166.1 innings pitched. So he has the potential to be a good fit for the Houston Astros. I think he does, but you’ve got to look at he he had several games where he gave up six runs, four runs, eight runs, eight, six, five, four, eight, four. You know what I mean? He had a lot of games where he gave up four runs or more. Um, so did Fromer Valdez. Yeah. But but we have Frober Valdez. He’s been here. We didn’t have to do anything give anything up to get him here. The problem I have with the trade scenario is before we get into who we would trade, isn’t it time that maybe the Astros, and this is why I think something like this would not happen. Isn’t it time the Astros start thinking about not trading any more of their assets of what they don’t have a lot of and start rebuilding their minor league system? I don’t think the Astros are in the trade market this year in this off season because they don’t really have the capital to give away to get someone that has value. Um, and at some point the, you know, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. And at some point, call Jim Crane insane. Well, I mean, that’s what he said. He as long as I’m the owner of the Houston Astros, the window will not be closed. And even though Dana Brown was brought in here, great to build up the system. You know what happened? We had an early exit last year and we didn’t make the playoffs this year. I don’t think the window’s very open right now. I mean, if the window’s propped open, it’s propped open by a really bad novel that I probably never read in sixth grade. I’m just saying like it’s not being held open by much. And as much as I love the idea of Mackenzie Gore coming here because I think he would be a great pitcher, I think he would be a great addition to this staff, I don’t think we have enough. And again, if we’re going to trade people, who are we going to give up? Are we gonna give up Cam Smith? Are we gonna give up Bryce Matthews? Are we gonna give up Zack Cole? Are we gonna give up Walker Yannik? Ethan Pekco? Why would we give up guys that have promising futures in this organization when who’s behind them? Absolutely nobody. Xavier Nans is like three and a half or four years out right now at this point. So for me, I think it either comes by free agency or they don’t go out and trade for someone that I think would garner such a huge price tag in return. Yeah, I I mean, we’re gonna have to continue talking about this. We’re not done with um McKenzie uh Gore because I think that this is what the Astros do. They don’t spend money. They like to go out and get the cheap talent. And so, I think that’s what we’re going to see them do. But, who knows? They may go out and get somebody like Dylan Case. And one guy thinks the Astros could go out and get Dylan C. We’ll talk about this next. This episode is brought to you by FanDuel. FanDuel is America’s number one sports book. Hey guys, thank you for making Lockdown Astros podcast your first listen every day. Whether it’s on YouTube, go ahead and subscribe to us. Go and make us first listen. Apple Odyssey, Spotify, wherever you listen your podcast, go ahead and listen to us. Uh we are talking about Mackenzie Gore. I know John Haymon, he did say the Astros could be a um a option to trade for him. I know that the Washington Nationals are not a very good team right now and they’re looking to build on build their future up and get some prospects and I know Brett and I were saying before the podcast who are they going to trade and it’s going to be it’s going to hurt and it’s like Brett was saying why not stock up the farm system instead of it constantly deflating it but um it’s going to probably involve somebody like Bryce Matthews maybe even Walker or Yannik or some type of package like that that starts with those two guys just to get somebody that still has two years of control and the Astros could bring him over extend him. Um I I don’t think that he will demand a lot of money. He has been good but he has not been that type of guy that’ll demand a huge salary. So maybe the uh Dana Brown can work some magic, but you have to understand that there’s going to be other teams going out there, Brett, not just the Houston Astros. Yeah. No, and and that’s the thing that that we have to think about. It’s it’s not just a one team market and people aren’t sitting back waiting for the Astros to make a move so they can then go and do go and do their thing. Um I’ I’ I’d be interested to know what other players that people think the Astros can get. Um, you know, we have McKenzie Gore, we have Pete Alonzo mentioned today. You’re just there’s not a lot of faith in this fan base with John Haymon or what what he says. Um, he he tends to say a lot of things that are smoking mirrors. I mean, heck, Bob Nightingale stumbles over his own tweets, um, just about every season anyways. And so, um, you know, so much for having sources. Um, you know, these guys that claim to have sources seem to not really get stuff right. There’s a lot of swings and misses. I mean, um, if the Hall of Fame for journalism is getting 10% of your tweets right, then maybe they should have a Hall of Fame for that. But, um, I think I think what we what we have to think about here is what is this team going to look like three years from now? And if three years from now you have looked back and you have traded every bit of talent that you did have um for guys that you want to perform now, then you’re going to be looking six years into the future and go, “Wow, that’s what that’s what losing 300 that’s what that’s what losing 100 games in a row looks like. I heard about that from my from my father and the kids of this generation will know the pain of that.” And I don’t I don’t think we want to go through that um as as Astros fans. The real mystery is will Crane ever change direction? And I I think sometimes plating to a fan base by saying the window will never close as long as I’m here is only valid if it’s true. And right now I don’t know that it’s true, Eric. Now I’m not saying the Astros don’t get back to the playoffs. I’m not saying that the Astros don’t have a bounceback year and play better. I think that’s very possible and a very plausible scenario. But what is all this stuff about Pete Alonzo? Because we have Christian Walker and they’ve owe him $40 million. Pete Alonzo is going to want 30 million at least. I just don’t see how Pete Alonzo would be a realistic target here in Houston. What do you think? Well, I don’t think so, but we keep on hearing the same buzz over and over every off seasonason every time Pete Alonzo is available at the trade deadline free agent. And I know this is something that keeps on coming up. Um, by the way, John Haymon, for what it’s worth, we all know this. He said Alex Bregman is absolutely not coming back to Houston. He’s not an option. They already have a log jam at third base. So, Bregman is not coming back. So, I don’t think so. Um, and Haymon also said the Astros are a possibility for Pete Alonzo. And he suggests somebody said, “Well, what about Christian Walker? They already have Christian Walker. And do they have to trade him?” He said, “No, you don’t have to trade him. One of them can play DH.” And so that would mean that Yordan Alvarez would have to play left field and then you’d have to move Altuve back to second base. Yes, you can kind of uh juggle the lineup a little bit, but for the most part, um you’ll have to have Altuve in a spot where the Houston Astros don’t feel comfortable with with him playing second base every day. So, yes, it’s a option, but I just don’t see Jim Crane shelling out $30 million. The dude just declined a $24 million option with the Mets and to go out there to get the money. And I know that he’s seeking a six-year deal. So, can he come to Houston? Sure. He’s 30 years old. He wants to play get a contract till he’s 36. The Astros just don’t do those five-year deals. They don’t do the mega deals. If they did, they would have signed Alex Bregman. They would have signed said, “Oh, yeah, we have a chance to resign Kyle Tucker.” But Pete Alonzo, yes, he would do great here, but still. Yeah. Um I mean there’s there’s there’s going to be a lot of w wildeyed stories and scenarios in the off season and you and I Eric, we’ve been we’ve been doing this long enough. Um we you know we’ve we’ve seen it rumored just various players coming here. I mean you know and and look I mean I was I was being tongue and cheek earlier. Look, I I know that I well, I don’t know, but I would I would tend to give the benefit of it out to the guys that are your national media guys, the Bob Nightingale, John Hamus, stuff like that. I don’t I don’t think they purposely throw things out there to mislead people. But then again, I do think there’s a very strong possibility that it’s negotiation. It’s part of the tactic. Hey, the Astros could be interested in Peter Lonzo. They could have a need at first base. They could trade Christian Walker. Hey Mets, what will you increase your offer to? Yes, it’s negotiation. Yeah, and that’s the thing. You you you don’t want to get in a bidding war with um with Steve Cohen because you’re never going to win. Um that’s that’s just bottom line. Now, Pete Alonzo is my favorite um non-astro um since Mark Maguire. Um, you know, I I’m I’m fans of I’m just a fan of baseball, but I I’ve not really kind of like rooted for somebody and I don’t root for Pete Alonzo as much as I rooted for Mark Magguire because I followed him all the way from USC into the majors. Um, right. But I just Pete Alonzo reminds me of a Mark Maguire type player. And so I love his game. I love watching him hit the baseball. I love that he plays first base. I mean, Peter Lonzo being an Astro would be a dream come true for me, but it’s just not it’s just not realistic. Mackenzie Gore again, I mean, I don’t know. I I mean, what kind of trade scenario would there be? I think Mackenzie Gore would be a great addition to this team. Um, but remember, we got, you know, Pearson because we believe we can turn him into something, a reclamation project. Yeah, we’ll talk about Pearson next, but I want to add some thoughts. I’m gonna buy the Astros potentially trading for Mackenzie Gore, but there is another free agent that the Astros could be interested in, somebody they could have traded for last year. But just imagine, we keep on talking about improving the offense. 38 home runs, 126 RBI’s, 144 OBS. That’s what you could be adding with Pete Alonzo. So, that’s why the Astros might be intrigued on doing that. So, who knows what they decide to do, but at this time, I’m gonna sell. And it sounds like Brett’s going to sell. Guys, we’ll go and continue this discussion. Thank you for making Lockdown Astros podcast your first listen. Apple Odyssey, Spotify, wherever you listen to your podcast, go and check us out. And at work today, Brett, I somebody said, “Well, who are you rooting for in the World Series?” And at first I was like, I don’t know. And then I thought about it. I’m like, you know what? I’m definitely not rooting for the Dodgers. I’m sorry. I’m not rooting for the Dodgers 100%. I’m rooting for George Springer and the the Blue Jays. Are you upset that the Mariners didn’t get it out of their system to win a World Series? No. But um I’m really glad the way I’m sorry Mariners fans if you’re watching this. I’m really glad the way it happened. I mean I’m still George Springer fans. Huh? I’m not sorry. I’m not sorry. I loved every minute of it. No, I’m No, I’m I enjoyed it. the fact that they cheered the fact that George Springer got hit in the knee the game before and because he’s ex Houston Astro and then uh there I think I don’t know if he left the game or not but I just saw the videos but then the fact that he was the guy that’s eliminated them from the World Series. Yeah. Their first World Series ever. And so I feel bad for the Mariners fans because we knew what it was like for all those years to not go to the World Series, but to see George Springer hit that home run, you knew at that point it was done. It was over. Yeah, I loved it. Um, that was a great game and I’m consider I don’t know if I’m going to do it, but um I’m I’m considering um doing a little live watch along um on on my back to the bullpin channel Friday night. If I if I don’t go to the Parland Oilers game, the Pland Oilers are ranked eighth in the state. They’re killing it. They’re eight and0. They play Shadow Creek. It’s for the district championship. If they win, they they’re like district champs. But man, watching George Springer do that and then hearing the storyline of Vlad Guerrero Jr. talk about when he wins the ring, he wants to give it to his father because his father never won a ring, right? I mean, like, how can you not be rooting for the Blue Jays right now? I mean, obviously, um, there’s a lot of people, Yankees fans hate the Blue Jays, you know, Red Sox fans hate the Blue Jays because they’re they’re in the AL East, but if there’s anybody that can take out Otani and the Dodgers and Freddy Freeman and the Dodgers, I mean, it’s the Blue Jays. I I mean, there were a couple times where I thought they were done. Um, but there were a couple times I thought Seattle was done. It was a great series, seven games. If you’re a baseball fan and you didn’t enjoy that series, then then how can you call yourself a baseball fan? Yeah, obviously you want your team in it, but um the odds of that happening every year are not the same. And and we know what it’s like to have consistent success. So um yeah, you know, Lido, you know, which you know, he goes in and pinch runs, but you’ve got um Miles Straws in there. So that’s really cool seeing former Astros. Um, someone someone did a great little it was like a commercial for the hotel. They’re like, “Hey, wake up. What are you doing? You’re about to miss the game. We got to get to the stadium.” And they jump up out of the bed and they open the curtains and they open the window. They’re like, “Okay.” They haven’t sung the national anthem yet. I’m like, “Those rooms are going for like 15,000. They they are sold for $15,000 per game during the World Series, right? Uh before we get into uh the free agent that Robert Murray has the Astros going after, I do want to talk a little bit about Nate Pearson. Yeah. Uh so the Astros did sign him to be a starter and he had multiple offers from several different teams, but all of them wanted him to be a reliever. The reason why he chose Houston was because they wanted him to be a starter. So, they’re definitely gonna give him a hard look and they’re going to try to figure out uh if he’s gonna stick in the rotation. So, that shows that they are committed to that. Um does that mean that they have to put him in the rotation? No. But the fact that they’re um they’re going to try give it a shot. That’s why he said um he was going to come to Houston. And I know that if you uh check out Chandler Rome’s podcast, he had Nate Pearson on. So, he had some great things to say, but um I’m excited to see what he can uh do. But, um I do want to talk about what Robert Murray said. He said that the Astros did go out and try to trade for Dylan Cece. And I know that they wanted Bryce Matthews and Spencer Argetti in addition to several other people for a rental a rental player. And the Astros said no. Um rightfully so. I think that Bryce Matthews is going to be a good one for several years down the road whether it’s with the Astros or not. But uh he also said that the Astros probably will go out and try to get Dylances. This is somebody that Jim Crane has had on his radar for several years either trying to sign him or trying to trade for him. So that could be a situation. And this is what he said. Robert Murray, he said Ce’s free agency might not be as interesting as his trade deadline. Manny thought he was going to be traded to Houston Astros, but it might not be far off. So, he posted a 4.55 RA in 32 starts with 215 strikeouts, topping 200 strikeouts for a fifth straight year. I expect him to be paid like a front line starting starter. And I can’t see that payday coming from San Diego um Padres’s. and he said the Phillies, the Astros, and the Blue Jays are likely likely to be good fits. Yeah. So again, if Dylan Sees comes here, that would be the guy that you’re replacing your big gun and from Valdez with. Um, do you see Jim Crane uh giving him that money, Eric? Uh, depends. They have money to make one big free agent splash. Whether it’s somebody to improve the offense, which is where some people say they have the biggest need, or is it somebody to bo bolster the rotation? Yes, they have some depth, but they’re losing former Valdez. And despite everything we think about former Valdez, he’s still that guy that goes out there every fifth day. He hardly misses any time. And more likely than not, he’s going to give you a good start. Yes, he does have a few games where he blows up, but he’s been Mr. Consistent. So, yes, you’re going to have to pay somebody like Dylan Cease. Like Murray said, he’s going to be want want to be paid like a frontline starter. He doesn’t they don’t care what his ERA was last year. 215 strikeouts just like they’re not going to care about Mackenzie McKenzie’s Gore’s what 15 losses last year. Yeah. Well, I mean I think I think CE obviously has a lot more upside. The difference with CE and with Gore is one’s a trade, one’s a free agent. Yeah. Free agent obviously is a little bit easier to do because it’s just it’s it’s it’s money on the books. Um when you when you look at when you look at CE versus Framber um over their o over the last several um over their last few seasons um you know from Valdez 198 innings this last year 200 strikeouts only got 200 strikeouts I think one time in the last three or four years. Um Dylan CE 200 plus strikeouts uh six uh one two three five seasons in a row. Eric um 226, 227, 214, 224, and 215. Um you know, he does he does give up um a few more long balls um than than he does um than you know, Frober does, but you know, Frober is a grabball pitcher. So my question is, how does Dylan Cece though play in Houston? If if the most home runs Frober Valdez gave up was 19 back in 2023, Dylan CE has given up 20 home runs, 19, 18, and 21 home runs in his career. He’s obviously more of a flyball pitcher than a grounder pitcher. Now I don’t know what Dylan Ce’s ground out percentage is. So I I can’t compare it to Yordon direct I mean to uh to Framber right now directly but that’s also going to be another thing is can the Astros bring him in and get him to induce more ground balls because a minute made Park if you let the ball fly it’s going to fly and that’s going to be the disadvantage not only to the pitcher but also to the uh to the team itself. So Dylan season’s market is about 26.4 4 million and they’re spottrack is expecting him to get six years 158 million. If you’re looking at the comparison, Tyler Glass now got 5 years 136 million. Uh that’s about 27 million per year. I’m sure the Astros would do that for Dylan CE. Now Dylan CE will probably want that sixyear. Max Freed got eight years of 218 million with the Yankees. that was 27.2 million. Garrett Crochet with the Red Sox, six years, 170 million. That was 28 million per year. And Corbin Burns, 6 years, 210, about 35 million per year. So, they’re all going to Well, Crochet of course is younger, but the other guys were about 30 years old. That’s kind of about the age of Dylan Cece right now. So, I would say if he’s comfortable with a 5-year deal, the Astros have a chance, but I don’t know. You might have to go that extra year. And Jim Crane just has not shown that he’s willing to go past five years. Yeah. And and that’s what I’m saying. Um where is where is Jim Crane in this? Um, I I would much rather them sign a guy than trade a guy for prospects because you’ve got to start building at some point. Um, you you just can’t keep trading. I mean, you don’t really have anything to trade to be honest with you. Um, the guys that you would trade, they have upside, but they haven’t proven anything in the majors. So, a prospect is a prospect until they become a major league player, you know. Um, I mean I mean look, when the Astros traded um when the Astros traded uh um Oh, where am I going with this? Oh my gosh, I just lost my thought. No, no, you’re good. I just I just completely lost my thought. I’ve never done that live on show. No, go ahead. It’s fine. Um so, um that’s probably all we got for tonight’s podcast. Somebody asked about Zack Allen. We can’t talk about everybody. I did talk about Zack Allen the other day, but we’re just responding to some chatter that’s out there right now and so maybe uh we’ll hear some more chatter, but the World Series is starting right now. So that’s why it was kind of weird that John Haymon and it kind of brought this information out. But I could see the Astros trading for Mackenzie Gore. I would like them to sign Alonzo. I just don’t see it happening. And Dylan Cece maybe, but there there are a lot of reports that said that he didn’t want to come to Houston in the first place. So, if he didn’t want to be traded to Houston, why would he sign with the Houston Astros? So, we we’ll see. We’ll see what’s all really true. But this is what we’re here for. We’re gonna be here all off season talking Astros baseball. Whether you like it or not, we’re gonna be here. 1. I personally wouldn't listen to any reports that the Astros won't be a good team next year. Eric I can't hardly read your cap it's jumbled. The Mariners were cheating that's why they jumped into throw to first base and the runner at first base and was called out for interference. Good show tonight

  2. don't want Bregman back…
in fact… you can use Correa in a trade package, and tell him…"IT"S JUST BUSINESS…" when you trade him.
we do not NEED Correa, and it was stupid bringing him back

  3. I would not put much faith in the rumours at this point. The stros will make a move via trade at the owners meeting in December they will get their SP that way no doubt as they have trade pieces off hand am looking at Parades or Walker bundled with Myers and someone else to get their pitcher. If they are looking for a bat watch 2nd base that is where I expect a move and it can also be a player willing to play 2nd base not necessarily a current 2nd baseman. They will also be able to get a high leverage BP arm and do this all under the salary cap this off season is where Dana Brown cements his position. The stros are an extremely talented team with a nice bundle of super stars as well as very good players in support they are there look at the bluejays they went from last to first the stros were not last but can easily bounce back a go to another world series and I have faith the stros will add the players to do exactly that.

  4. I'm scared to see this rotation without Framber. Our rotation is a problem right now. This is not a playoff team if they don't properly address it.

  5. 1. Gore to Astros trade isnt going to happen 2. Alonso signing with Astros isnt going to happen 3. Cease signing with Astros isnt going to happen. 4. Heyman is a blow hard that peddles info and rumors for Scott Boras is a well known fact in baseball. 😂

  6. Agree Brett, Astros have players that come up through the system. Then when they get the opportunity to leave Crane won't pay to keep them. How many years did the Astros have Framber and didn't pay him what he was worth. Just pay him and keep him. If he's that uneasy bout spending that much then tie performance bonuses to it. Players have left like Correa and Bregman and regretted it. Walker cranked it up in the end. Took 1st place in HRs. Looks good on defense. Don't see the problem.

  7. Framber is too damn emotional. And even worse, his emotions affect his pitching in a huge way. I think when he was a kid, if he didn’t get his way, he would throw a tantrum until he did get his way. That messed him up as an adult.

  8. Why would Houston get Alonso for DH when the NL homerun leader Kyle Schwarber is an unrestricted free agent right now. You could shoot him an offer for 4yr $100M and get a kick ass left hand bomb dropper like Schwarber

  9. Ranger Suarez and Zac Gallen could be options to pursue for starters.

Ryan Helsley and Devin Williams are probable relievers that are free agents.

Devin Williams was the setup guy for Josh Hader in Milwaukee.
