Jaylen Brown is stressing patience: “We lost four All-Stars from last season between Al, Jrue, Kristaps, and JT being out. And Luke’s an All-Star to me. Luke’s an All-Star in all of our hearts. We didn’t lose one guy, we lost five. To replace those guys, it doesn’t happen overnight.”

  1. I haven’t been able to watch all of the games but from what I’ve seen they’re competitive as hell. They’re also working out a lot of stuff, rotations etc. They’ll be fun, not necessarily championship contending level fun, but still good to watch.

  2. This year is going to be about showcasing and developing young talent to package up in a trade or to fit into the rotation when JT comes back.

I don’t think a 7 or 8 seed is off the table, but why even bother? I’m all for a fun, ethical tank season.

  3. He’s so right. It’s hard to see the drop from championship contention to outright bad in the space of May to October. But it is unavoidable with the players gone and JT injured. My hope is that the young players can develop, JB and White can push it up a level and show what they’re capable of, and JT can heal his leg and come back as good as he was.

  4. 5 of our top 8 are gone, can’t be shocked we are dogshit. I just wish JT wasn’t one of them cus i’d atleast get to see him drop monster numbers

  5. We beat a pels team without their two best players I wouldn’t be getting carried away – tanking is the best way forward this year

  6. Luke was really good and the vibes were very immaculate with him.

But hey, Celtics basketball is Celtics basketball. Still fun to watch despite the 3 Ls.

  7. Rebound disparity is pretty glaring, but expected with no Tatum, Jrue, or Luke, past that, they’ve been competitive and I’m sure as the season goes on they will sure up the rebounding and hopefully speed up the pace of the offence

  8. Yea, just let me see growth. Rebuilding this team is going to take time. There are already some bright spots. Minott and Hugo seem to be on the verge of becoming rotation worthy players. Queta is actually holding up well as a starting center. In fact, our starters are doing awesome together. We aren’t turning the ball over and somehow, and this I am truly baffled by, we have a top 10 DRtg so far.

Clean up the boards and don’t shoot like shit. Not sure we can do both of those things well, but our losses have come because we couldn’t do either well. So like, just do one of those things well and we’ll probably get some W’s

  9. JB is just like me, we’re getting over heartbreak man. Give the team time, there’s a lot to figure out. Just need them to continue to play hard. I’m confident they will be better than what we’ve seen in terms of results.

  10. Lowkey losing Luke hurt me the most besides Al, because it felt like we could have kept him.

I’ll be rooting for him and the Spurs though, we owe them for Derrick

  11. I can’t say enough how much I hated yesterday’s post that Pritchard can’t do his thing against starting level defense/attention. I mean, there’s a world where that’s true I guess, but come on the season just started, and we’re lacking pieces around these guys that would help an offense flow.

  12. I have very low expectations for this team but even with that being said they could just as easily be 3-1 right now instead of 1-3. They choked away the Philly and Detroit games.
Had they been 3-1 or even 2-2 the narrative around here would be a lot different right now.

Long story short, it’s way too early to count them out in a very weak Eastern conference

  13. i’m firmly in the give it 20 games to let things settle and see what you have camp.

any takes on players or the team as a whole prior to that is just noise

  14. Real talk. Anyone with a basic understanding of basketball knew this team lost a lot of firepower and had a lot of ‘next man up’ question marks coming into the season. That was the price of 18 and what could’ve been 19 if Tatum didn’t get hurt (though I think the Knicks still had them—also a sign that they needed some changes regardless). Casuals can fade on the season. The rest of us will be enjoying Celtics basketball and going along for the ride.

  15. Exactly, losing Luke, Horford and Porzy is a no brainer for why we can’t rebound. Our best rebounder is the smallest guy on the roster right now. Patience is key in this tanking season.

  16. Patience is key. But this season for the C’s is also a lost season. JB shouldn’t burn himself trying to carry the load cuz it’s obvious he’s not that guy. Dude should just take a few weeks to work on the hairline.

  17. The people talking the most shit are the same people that were talking shit all last season about the same players we lost. Some people cannot be satisfied in any way.
