BIG Cowboys Rumors After Broncos Loss: Fire Matt Eberflus? Trevon Diggs Done? Trade Buzz? Blame Dak?

[Music] Welcome back into the Cowboys Report. I am Tom Downey. Week eight in the books for Dallas. It is overreaction Monday. And if your overreaction was everything sucked, good news. You are correct because that was a putrid performance from the Cowboys in a game that honestly 20 points doesn’t even begin to describe how non-competitive that matchup was. So, how you feeling this Monday morning? G for good. I don’t know. You might have a disease. B for bad. Valid. Or I for indifferent. And you’re just a little bit demoralized and you’re not as locked in as maybe you used to be. So, let me know in the comments section of today’s show. GB or I, how you feeling after week eight? Let’s get into the overreactions. First up, it is time for the Cowboys to fire Matt Iberloose. This is not an overreaction. I I can’t keep doing this every single week, man. I can’t I can’t watch this defense be bad in everything. Not shed blocks, not fit the run right, get beat repeatedly downfield. Why is it that almost every week the quarterback has his best game of the season against you? I look, there’s personnel issues. We’ll talk about Triz Bridges later on. You’re down a bunch of uh secondary pieces. I get you don’t have the best personnel. Find me a worse defense. Find me one. As bad as the Bengals are, I’m still not sure they’re actually worse than you. The Cowboys right now do zero things well. They don’t stop the run well. They don’t rush the passer well. They don’t cover well. They don’t even tackle that well. They do nothing right. I can’t keep watching this and going, “Well, you know what? It’s the same exact coaching staff. Maybe this time they’ll figure it out.” Come on. Like, at some point the front office and your head coach have to go, “It’s just never going to work with this.” And you’re at the point where it honestly can’t be much worse. Like the only reason you haven’t allowed 50 points this year is cuz the opposed team hasn’t actually tried. Like they’ve there have been games they’re like, “Ah, we’ll just chill.” Denver could have if they wanted to. And Denver’s like an average offense. Like you’re making an average offense look like a top five unit every single week. In fact, if you just took the average what the Cowboys are allowing, it’s the best offense in football. You can’t win games like that. Period. So, do you want Matt Eberloose fired? Y for yes, N for no. Look, every week it’s the same thing. They win. Ah, you know, good. You know, maybe the we’ll hold off on the firing talk. They lose. Okay. Yeah, it’s clear the defense’s fault like every single week. Why for yes and for no? Sound off in the comments. The pin comment of today’s show. Overreaction number two. The Cowboys season is over. I am going to give this an overreaction actually. I I will not write off the season all three. Like it’s I I am of the belief that once you say it’s over, it’s over and you can’t actually get it back. Kind of like you get the must-win card, you can’t play it once you don’t win the must-win game. They aren’t technically out of it yet. You know, we’ll see what Monday Night Football brings against the Chiefs and the Commanders, but I don’t think hope is prevalent. Like maybe the season’s not over, but I don’t think we can remotely feel good about this Cowboys team given how tough the schedule is. It’s not like the Ravens, for example, where like their schedule gets suddenly easier. Like your margin for error was already too thin to drop the games against the Bears in Carolina and Denver. You had to win probably two of those, not zero of those games. I don’t think they have the talent, specifically on defense, to be able to write the ship and make a real legitimate playoff run. Could they hover around 500 for most of the year? Sure. I I think that’s still in the ballpark of expectations. Can they get to to eight wins? Possible. Can they get that be a 500 year somehow, by the way? But I don’t think like confidence should abound from this team. It’s not technically over, but there’s not any confidence in this this ship getting writed with just the way they’re set up, which you can go trade for somebody. Well, we’ll talk about that here in a second. But first, today’s show is made possible by Prize Picks. You and I make decisions every day, but on Prize Picks, being right can get you paid. Don’t miss any of the excitement this football season on Prize Picks, where it is good to be right. It is the only app that offers sacks to pick the same player up to three times in the same lineup. If you want more then on, you know, maybe Marcus Mariota rushing yards and and passing yards or Mahomes rushing yards passing, which has actually been a pretty good one as of late. You can do it on the prize picks app. You can also follow other players directly in the new feed tab so you can copy their lineups with a simple click. One power play from us here at Chat Sports. Mariota more than the 11 and a half long run and Rashi Rice more than 66.5 receiving yards. I bet he gets some Mikey Sandra still, but she’s kind of unlocked the offense with Rasheed Rice’s return. Go download the prize picks app today and use code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. That’s code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup. Links to the comments and the description of today’s show. prize picks. It’s good to be right. Links in the comments and the description of today’s show. Let’s talk trade now for the Cowboys. Overreaction number three. Don’t make a trade. I This is a valid reaction. I’m not opposed to finding the right deal still. I’m still kind of, you know, sticking with that. Let’s see how this week. Well, I want to see how it played out and see what the value is. I do think this is valid though because look, we all have eyeballs. The defense needs help. like they are not remotely good enough right now. And that’s kind of the issue is this defense might need too much help. Like you need a pass rusher, you need a linebacker or two, you need a corner or two, you need a safety or two or three or four at this rate with all the injuries. Like you can find a way to do that, but you’re sacrificing so much in the process. It it might not actually be in your best interests overall. I think any trade, and we’ll go more in depth on this on our live show today, should fall into one of two buckets if you’re making something happen. Number one, the first bucket should be super cheap. Like, I am not going to be mad if you do a day three pick swap or you trade a late day three pick. That’s fine. That’s candy on Halloween. Everyone gets it. Like, you’re not really too worried about it. If you do something super duper cheap, okay, that’s fine. or it should be a multipleyear player who ideally has a lot of different team control and it’s cheap for you. The the the the trade I remember here so much is remember when Pittsburgh made the initial Minka Fitzpatrick trade like they were not that competitive that year. I think that pick ended up being 17 overall, but it was a multi-year young player and they got a guy that was better than the first round pick that they gave up there. So that type of trade, which doesn’t happen very often, by the way, is the type of deal that I would have interest in. I don’t know if that player exists right now on the open market, though. I I think a pricey rental doesn’t really make any sense. Like, cuz if it’s a pricey, you know, he’s got one year left on his deal, then why don’t just sign him in free agency, right? I think you need some youth and team control if you’re giving up anything more than a sixth round pick essentially because frankly with the way you have multiple draft picks, you got a ton of salary capaces this upcoming year. I think your 26 27 28 windows look better because it’s a lot easier to overhaul your defense in, you know, March, in April than it is in October, November. It’s actually borderline impossible. So, we’ll talk trades. I’m perfectly down doing it. If you can find the right one, yes. But it has to be the right one. And I don’t know if that’s going to materialize, frankly, what Jerry Jones has been saying. So, do you want the Cowboys to make a trade? T for trade, P for pass. Let me know in the comments section of today’s show. T for trade, P for pass. Let’s talk Trayvon Diggs as his saga continues. Is he done in Dallas? This is not an overreaction and it is a question of when and what the timing is versus if and we’ve been here frankly. It’s been pretty obvious if you paid attention that these two sides are just not getting along and there is a lot of friction and a lot of frustration on both sides. The Cowboys are frustrated with Diggs because they paid him and they thought wanted him to suddenly become a leader which I think is just kind of not how life works and pri setting up expectations. They’re mad over his rehab. They’re mad over some of the public comments he’s made. Diggs frustrated with the Cowboys because they went out of their way to take shots at him in his rehab and then he came back ahead of schedule. I get the frustration on both sides. Frankly, this relationship is done. And by the way, no one is trading for him like that. No one is giving up assets for an expensive guy who’s hurt. He’s eligible to return from IR. He is eligible to be traded off of IR. No one’s trading for him. like and if if by the way there was interest I think they would have been able to do it when they had the chance there was no interest months ago when the Cowboys had interest as well there I don’t think there’s a guarantee that Diggs returns from IR you know Ed Warner said it was oh that the knee throw up on him okay you know maybe we’ll find out one day what the hell happened with the concussion I for me that kind of felt like it was the final straw from the Cowboys front office of like dude are you serious like we need you out there we need you playing and you have some weird concussion which like I think he he had a concussion by the way. Nick Harris pointed out show to the facility with with a with a visible mark on his head. Okay. I don’t know if the Cowboys believed Diggs’ story was kind of suspicious on that front but like I doesn’t really matter how it happened. Um now he’s going to miss three more games. They’re mad at him. Seville and Revel will be eligible to return before Diggs does. I don’t want to put it on a third round rookie coming off an injury, but this is where we’re at. So, will Trayvon Diggs play again for the Cowboys? One for yes, zero for no. Sound off in the comments of today’s show. Overreaction number five. Let’s stick in the quarterback room. Time to play Kalin Carson. Yeah, not an overreaction here. He’s been active the last two weeks. Hasn’t been out there on defense. I have seen enough of Triquz Bridges. I don’t need to see any more of him. He can’t cover. And look, he’s a seventh round pick, a late seventh round pick. you know, we shouldn’t have high expectations of him in the first place. Like, he had the interception against Denver, but like that was a horrible throw. Like, it was several yards behind the open man. It did not make any sense. Carson, meanwhile, hasn’t played yet. Like, he has been, you know, a fifth round pick that did good against the Browns, then kind of lost his confidence, frankly. Put him out there against the the Arizona Cardinals. Let’s not do Bridges. I am excited at some point to maybe get Savone Revel back, but I also like don’t want to put overly high expectations. There’s already some of that going on. We’ll discuss that later on, but I I just I question if it’s realistic to expect him to suddenly be the best player ever. Like, that seems, you know, maybe he’s an upgrade and the bar is pretty low to be fair. We’ll have our live Cowboys report later today. Hit that sub button if you haven’t already. youtube.com/cowowboys TV. It’ll be therapy Monday. We’re back. Victory Monday, Therapy Hour. Victory Monday, Therapy Hour. And then we’ll have Well, I guess Tuesday will be trade deadline coverage. We’ll have something else there. Hit that sub button so you don’t miss out over reaction number six. And this one is very silly. Not many people actually saying it, but we have to nip it in the bud. We’re not starting Joe Milton. That’s obviously stupid. No one who like actually watches football and like knows what they’re watching thinks that should be the take, but he did have a nice throw. I give him credit for that one. you quarterback had a bad game doesn’t erase the seven really really good games he had before that. [Music]

– Do you want the Cowboys to make a trade? Type ‘T’ for Trade, ‘P’ for Pass

The Cowboys defense continues to be a MASSIVE problem. There are personnel issues in Dallas (looking at you secondary), but Eberflus is a failure. It’s time for change.

Trevon Diggs’ future in Dallas is very much on the brink. It’s been that way however, with frustration on both sides. With Diggs now on IR, it’s very fair to question if he’ll ever play a game again with the Cowboys. And given how BAD Trikweze Bridges has fared, that might not be a good thing.

  1. Im done with the Jerry Jones show ,he's an old man chasing past glory .He is general manager ,owner , two much hands on everything ,his ego is in the way , they will never win another Super Bowl as long as he got hands own everything.

  2. As a BEARS fan, yall cowboys fans have our condolences. He must be a great interviewer because as a coach eberflus doesn't adjust according from game to game.

  3. Talking about trading for somebody. One person isn't gonna fix this diaster. I honestly don't think the defense understands how to play zone defense and they are completely lost. That's why Diggs just said screw this. I'm out.

  4. The 3 game gauntlet vs Eagles, Chiefs n Lions will let us know if the season is over or not.. if we can win 2 of them games we got a chance for the playoffs but must win vs Cards n Raiders on MNF

  5. Diggs would improve drastically if Flus was removed and we went back to playing a system that isn't designed for high school football. Who wouldn't be frustrated playing in this scheme???

  6. Their Defense is "The Laughing Stock of the Entire NFL" = The Cowboys are a Joke . . . it's a Shame = high-powered offense and a Defense that Can't Stop a Nose Bleed !!!

  7. With Dallas looking at Defensive End. Do you think they might be interested in looking at Garrett from Cleveland? I know they did not want to pay Parsons, but with the draft picks would they look at him with the contract extension got on him?
