🔴LIVE 🔴New York Mets VS Miami Marlins/September 26 /MLB THE SHOW 25
Bash show with a good one coming at you. It’s the New York Mets taking on the Miami Marlins. First pitch coming at you right after the break. And now, please welcome your [Music] Miami Marlins. So, almost ready to get underway. And today on the hill, Sandy Alcantara. Anytime you have five pitches to work with on the mound, that repertoire can be a real weapon in terms of keeping hitters off balance. Man, it’s it’s one of those things that I’m going to be looking for in this one. Does he have a feel for all of those pitches or is he just able to get one or two over in the strike zone where he wants? Now, it’s tough to do to be able to command all those pitches, but if he can, he is going to be very tough for the opponent today. Next offering is fouled back and two now. That’s spoils a two strike pitch and he’ll see another. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. The wind to the pitch. Fouls it off. Still one and two. Hard hit left side. throws to first, one out in the top of the first. Let’s take a peek at the Mets lineup here. All right, Sigy, how about all the talent in this lineup? They’re deep first and foremost, but the way that they can manipulate their personnel for matchups and everything else. It’s uh very intelligent the way that they use their team and I I think it creates a little bit of uh uncertainty for opposing teams, especially in a big game, big series. Miami. [Music] Francisco Lindor in the box here. Lets that one go for a ball. [Music] Fouls one off out of play. Back to our left. He doubled up on the off speed there. We talk about the power fast ball, but he’s working a little differently here. Swing and a miss. And that one missed by a ton. Good eye right there. Oh, he never moved because he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. Swinging a ground ball up the middle. Lays out, but he can’t squeeze it, but there’s no play. That’s an infield single. Really protecting with two strikes right there. Pitch wasn’t even close, but man, he got the barrel to it somehow. Nice job of bad ball hitting. And now it’s Juan Sodto. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. There’s no way around it. Sodto is one of the most exciting players in baseball. His hitting skills are so advanced, you’d think he’d played in Major League Baseball in a different life or something. And the one and there’s a foul ball. And that one missing inside. A sharp slider and delivers outside and ball four to a board. His ability to draw walks has been something that’s been part of his career since day one. And now it’s the polar bear Pete Lonzo and fouled off. The last thing he wants is to hit the ball on the ground, but I wouldn’t expect many pitches up in the zone. They’ll be pitching for a double play in this spot. And strike two. Wow, that’s 89 on the gun. And it’s a change up. It’s like good hitting if you’re looking for it, but because of the speed differential between the fast ball and that pitch, really hard for a hitter to get on time with it. Backed off the plate that time. Swing and a miss. He struck him out. Slider got him for strike three. Boi just ran out of patience there. He took a couple of pitches to even that count up at two balls and two strikes, but that time chased outside the zone. Starling Marte up to here. That pitch gets the corner. That’s strike one. [Music] And that one upstairs. Ball one. lined and that’s a base hit. Lindor zipping around third. The throw is offline and he’s in to score and it’s one- nothing. Ry gets it done in a big spot to get the run across. Just a solid swing right there. Caught it out front and ripped it into the outfield for the base hit. Those always feel great. First and second, two outs. Mark Vientos now at the plate. And that drops in for a strike. At this point, the clean inning is over. Got to settle in, focus on the hitter, and get out of it with minimal damage. Sodto the lead runner at second. Marte on first with two down. That one the other way. [Applause] sends it to first. They limit the damage here. So, one run in the inning on this base hit. It’s an early one- nothing lead. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show. Back here in Miami, today’s starting pitcher, David Peterson. What do you have on him, Sigy? He really relies on working down in the zone with that heavy sinker he’s got. You know, it’s not as popular to throw that pitch today as it used to be because, you know, guys are looking to hit balls down in the zone, get them up in the air. It’s very important for him when facing same side hitters to be able to get it in, especially early in the count. And to opposite guys, be able to throw it at that front hip and run it over the inside corner. [Music] Close but called a ball. One and one and a popup right side. Foul territory. Has room and he makes the catch. And time now for the Marlins lineup. Finding themselves down a run early. They’d like to punch back here with a run of their own. Absolutely, Boo. But I don’t expect them to change their approach because of that run. They still want to put together strong at bats. Be patient out there and get a feel for this starting pitcher. Jacob Marcy getting ready to hit. [Music] Fast ball for a strike and it’s 0 and one. Well, as a hitter, you’re hoping that the command on that sinker doesn’t come until later in the ball game. But if that’s how it’s going to be all day, it’s going to be a tough one for the offense. That one to first. Alonso takes it himself and a couple of quick outs. Deceptive slider right there. Stayed in the tunnel a long time. Got that hitter out front. Rolled over it. Put it on the ground. And up next for Miami, Augustine Ramirez. Miami. Just missed. Two outs. Base is empty. Slice down the right side. Good job to fight that one off. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Foul ball still a one and two count. [Music] That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. The one two and they’ll do it again. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Ninth pitch of the at bat. Due next. Seven fouls in a row. Such an impressive at bat. Oh, that’s a strike out. And that’ll do it for the inning. Nothing doing for the Marlins. And it remains one- nothing. Back here at Lone Depot Park. Second inning set to go and stepping in for New York. Cedric Mullins. Alcantara back to work. And that skips in the dirt. Mullins a former allstar hitting seventh in today’s lineup. And they traded for him earlier this year. And that’s off the inside edge. And that’s ball two. Ricky Holiday, our umpire behind the dish, known as pretty fair umpire for both hitters and pitchers. Yeah, I think that’s right, B. There is a little inconsistency on the corners of the plate. You can’t always be sure how it’s going to go with those borderline pitches as the game progresses. They’re 2-1. Just missed. [Music] And boy, that was the pitch. 3-1. You want to be really aggressive on the fast ball. That one misses. So, a lead off walk. Well, he opted to go with the off speed stuff on that 32 with the bases empty. Close pitch, but now he’s got to work out of the stretch. And here’s the catcher, Francisco Al. Runner on the go. Swing and a miss. Throw save. Runner at second. Nobody out. Hard hit right side. Hicks takes it to the bag. One out in the second. That’s a good piece of hitting right there. It’s early, but you still want to move the runner up and give your team a chance to score. That’s exactly what happened. So, you better believe your teammates are happy with you after that at bat. Ronnie Mauricio in now. Takes ball one off the plate. Next offering is in for a strike. It’s a tough pitch, but in terms of the best pitch you’re going to get to hit in the at bat, that fast ball was down enough where you’re going to catch up to one. That’s the one. When he elevates, hitters aren’t touched it. In the air, left field, Senoha settles underneath it, drops into the glove. Runner tagging from third. That’s a sacrifice fly as he comes across and they take a two-run lead. There you go. Nice little RBI there. It’s a great at bat. Got the job done. Here’s Brandon NMO 0 for one so far. And there’s a strike. Good heater at 98. He didn’t want to give up that run, but he did. Got the fly ball. Sack fly out. Now it’s time to attack these other guys. Get your team back in the dugout. Hard on the ground to first. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. So they scratch across a run on no hits, no errors, and no one left on. Down now to the bottom of the second. It’s the Mets two and the Marlins nothing. And we’re back and the batter now Lopez. Short stop Lopez right through there for a strike. And a ground ball to first and he takes it himself for the out. That’s what a good sinker is designed to do. Get a guy to roll over a little bit, hit the ball on the ground, kill some worms while you’re at it. Now it’s the rookie first baseman, Liam Hicks. Liam. And that’s downstairs and outside. One out. Base is empty. Next offering is fouled back. And that is downstairs and it’s two and one up the middle. Fires to first on the run on the money. Nice play. Batting six. Desated hitter Arberto Hernandez. And now Arberto Hernandez. Miami. Just missed. And that misses. And that’s ball two. He’s great hitting the ball the other way. And that pitch did a good job to straighten him up a bit. Mission accomplished. Ground ball right side and foul ball. Pop foul out of play off to the right on the ground to first. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. And the Marlins down quietly. They trail it here two nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. All set for the start of the inning. Now up to Francisco Lindor and first offering is fouled off. Lindor was born in Puerto Rico but actually played his high school ball in Florida. That one ripped but foul. Keeps the atbat going with a foul ball. [Music] Got him swinging. Chase the fast up the ladder for strike three. That’s tough. You see it well. I mean that was clearly up and out of the strike zone. That’s one of the hardest things. And when you see a pitch out of the hand at eye level, that discipline to remember I can’t hit that pitch. If I can see it really well at eye level, I can’t catch up to that pitch. When a pitcher’s got this kind of velocity that misses the zone and the count is 2 and 0. Y’all, this is a good time to step out of the box, take a deep breath, reset. Couple of change ups. Probably won’t see another one here. Check swing called strike and the count is even. Two and two. [Music] And that one upstairs. Good purpose pitch right there. trying to tease him, get him to raise his sights, pop something up and make it an easy out. Strike three. And that’s two in a row. This guy will throw any pitch in any count. 3-2. He goes off speed, gets the out. Two down, base is empty. Here’s Pete Alonszo. He struck out swinging at his first at bat. And there’s the strike. [Music] Next offering misses down and away. So a foul ball makes it one and two. Comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt. Ramirez gathers, throws to first, got him. Inning over on the strikeout. So they go quietly there. We move on to the bottom of inning number three. It’s the Mets two and the Marlins nothing. Set for the bottom of the third. Here’s the rookie right fielder, Troy Johnston. Troy Johnston. And a pitch. Swings through that one for strike one. Two. [Applause] Fast ball is outside. 02 pitch that far out of the zone gives the hitter a little confidence that maybe he can climb back into this at bat. and a swing and a miss. Leadoff man retired here in the third. He’s really good hitting the baseball the other way. So, credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch. Clearly, he had him fooled. Norby at the plate. Conor Norby. Conor. He swings and misses at the first pitch. 0 and one. right back to him on the mound. Over to first and a couple of quick outs. Good slider inside right there. Batter fighting to get there. Just rolled over it. Got the ground ball. And stepping in the rookie left fielder Javier Senoha. Miami. That misses. And that’s ball one. Marlin. And a breaking ball drops in for a strike. Miami. And a strike in there. [Music] battling here as he fouls it away. That one off the mark now. Two and two. And that just misses. good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. Two outs. Base knock center field. Could be extra bases. Makes the turn and heads for second. The throw in in there safely. I’m sure he feels really good about that one. Loud contact leads to the double. I mean, you could tell it had extra bases written all over it as it jumped off of his stick. Xavier Edwards gets a chance to hit here. And a first pitch fastball is in for a strike. As a pitcher, you know the runner on second is ready to push things with this speed. A base hit is probably going to be a big run, so you really have to execute on the mount late with the swing there. This guy’s sink has so much drop in it. It’s almost like a split finger fast ball. Instead of just weak contact and balls on the ground, he gets swings and misses. Next offering upstairs, I don’t like to say he wasted a pitch. I think that was a purpose pitch. Change the eye level. Have him look up. Now go back exactly where you want to go. And a base hit on a line. Runner around third on his way to the plate. He’ll score easily. It’s an RBI single. And it’s a one-run game. Well, there you go. The RBI machine. Another clutch runscoring at bat. Yeah, he’s been so good in these situations. Call it clutch if you want, but his resume speaks for itself. And now for the Marlins, Jacob Marcy. And a good fast ball to start him off. That’s strike one. Well, in this situation, hitter knows that he’s got to find a pitch that he can drive in order to drive in that tying run all the way from first base. So, if he can’t do that, keep the line moving through a walk or just a base hit, but you got to stay within yourself. Here comes the 01 and that drops in for a strike. And a bat like this is almost over as it begins. In this situation, you have no idea what the next pitch is going to be. You just got to hope that you can make contact. And takes low for ball one. And a foul. Bald. He stays alive. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. A run on two hits and they leave one. On to inning number four. It’s the Mets two and the Marlins one. out of the fourth. Now it’s the DH Starling Marte in the first pitch misses for ball one. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Lake Backer getting ready to go. Foscher warming up as well. [Music] That one fouled hard the other way. Here’s a 1-1 and there’s a ball fought off foul line drive and that should be extra bases around first and hustling for second. in safely. It’s a double and his second hit. Oh, that’s how you respond. Leadoff man comes up, gets into scoring position. Now, there are several ways that they can get this run across. Here comes the skipper and we’re going to see a pitching change in this spot. Sandy Alcantoura won’t go any further. And it wasn’t his best start, but he kept them in it to this point. And we’ll come back with a new arm. Tyler Phillips gets the call from the pen. Pretty tight game, so they’re looking for quality pitches out of him right here. Got to do his best to keep the score right where it is. Runner in scoring position. No outs. And now it’s Mark Vientos. 0 for one. He grounded out in his first at bat. That one finds the corner. Strike one. Runner in scoring position. Nobody out. Top half of inning number four. Next offering is fouled back. [Music] The 02 swings through it and that’s a strike out. Well, take a look at the three pitch sequence here. Pretty simple in terms of putting them away at the plate. Once you’re ahead 02 as a pitcher, you can really expand the zone and see how aggressive that hitter is going to be trying to protect and battle. And right there, clearly he was in swing mode, but all you can do is hope to foul that off. So up next for New York, Cedric Mullins. He reached out to walk his first time. Pitch misses. Ball one. Marte leads off second with one gone in the inning. That’s a strike and it’s one and one. Let’s go Marlins. just missed. [Music] Squirts away a little bit. And it remains two and two. just misses with that one. One out and a runner at second. And ball four, two aboard. Man, that’s a tough one to take on the full count, but I guess he saw it really well. It’s a really nice plate appearance. Next to hit, Francisco Alvarez. Grounded out his first time up. Turned on, but that’s fouled down the third baseline. One out. Runners at first and second. [Music] Late swing fouled off. at the dish looking to lift the ball in the air in this spot. Anything but the inning ending double play. Boog fights that one away and the count remains 0 and two and that’s down and away. [Music] in the dirt. Two and two. Runners at first and second with one gone. Sit him down. Pitch misses and the count is filled up. Ronnie Mauricio up next for the Mets. Three and two now. Gets a piece and stays alive. That one is absolutely belted back there. Gone. He muscles that one out the opposite way and they add to the lead. It’s 51. The count was full, but he was ready to swing it. That’s an impressive swing of the bat to go over the wall to the opposite field gap. And you know, there are a lot of guys that just don’t have the pop to do that. And probably just as many who don’t have the approach either. He let that ball travel and he got great extension on the follow through to drive it out of here. One down. Ronnie Mauricio now drove in a run with a sack fly. His first time up. That one missed. Counts one and0. Swing and a ball drilled in the air towards right center field. Marcy snags it for the second out. Now batting leftielder. Here’s the Mets leadoff man. Brandon NMO has grounded out a couple of times. out to short. Lopez, zips it across and that’ll do it. But the biggest swing of the inning comes right here. A three-run homer. It’s now 51. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. Back here in Miami. Bottom of the fourth. Now it’s the Marlins catcher, Augustine Ramirez. Right side hard hit. Mauricio with the throw to first and one gone in the fourth as they get the lead off. Man, well, he’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air. Lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball. Good execution. Here’s the shortstop at the plate. Otto Lopez 0 for one. He grounded out to first his last time. Check swing. Did he go? Yes, he did. One’s the count. And that’s in for a strike. And the count is 0 and two. Base is empty, one away. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. Foul ball still 0 and two. The shorts stop takes a ball outside. out towards right center field. Sodto going after it. That’s out number two. Every day during batting practice, these outfielders get about 10 minutes of balls in the gaps. They practice this and when the game comes, they make the play perfectly. Two outs, space is empty. And here’s the first baseman, Liam Hicks. Strike one. It’s just been an impressive outing so far. Continues to pound the zone, pitch after pitch, and he’s been able to stay down. That’s what’s been key. Comes up empty. That pitch started in and ended up on the outside edge. Just changing planes and very difficult, especially for a left-handed hitter to track. That’s a ball. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. Oh, I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning, anything after that a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line. Two down, nobody on center field. Mullins in position. He’s got it. And that is that. Nowitch. They turn things over to the southpaw, Kade Gibson. Number 58. And now it’s Frankie Lindor, one for two. You talk about elite defensive players, especially in the middle of the diamond, and this guy is at the top of the list. First pitch misses, and you played behind guys, and they loved having your speed out there defensively. One of the things that we talk about is how much pitchers enjoy having those elite defenders behind him. One, [Music] the one thing about that is speed never goes in a slump. And defense shouldn’t either. Hittingwise, you can struggle. You can lose your mechanics, but the thing that you can do consistently every single game is play great defense if you’re talented in that way. And this is what this guy does. And that gets the inside corner for a strike. When you look at the ability to save runs defensively, but then also put runs up on the scoreboard, that’s the kind of player that every championship team needs to have. Struck him out looking. Well, he froze him with a great fast ball right on the corner. It’s kind of like bowling when you think the ball’s going to get into the gutter and somehow just hangs onto that edge and knocks down a pin. Well, he got the outside corner of the plate and got that called. Third strike. Swung on. belted back there and that’s a home run into the upper deck into the second deck it goes and they tack one on the board. It’s 6-1. That one just sounded different and it might have been the loudest moment yet. Man, my ears are ringing. I could feel that swing from the booth. When you’re working with this kind of velocity, so critical that you move the ball around, work quickly, and make sure that you keep that hitter off balance. Clearly not fooled by the location or the velocity. He was all over that fast ball. So, one out, nobody on. Next is the cleanup hitter for the Mets, Pete Alonzo. No question about this one. It’s out of here. They do it again. Backto back homers and they boost their lead. It’s 71. He absolutely crushed that one. No doubt about that one, Boo. We knew it wasn’t coming back. Back-to-back homers. Always a special feeling at the ballpark, especially if it’s your team that does it and those guys get to slap hands at home plate. This is the kind of thing that can really fire up a ball club. Here comes the skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move. Kade Gibson out of the game and as he heads for the dugout, we’ll take a quick break. New arm on the mound when we get back. Michael Peterson on a pitch out of the pen here. And with the big deficit on the scoreboard, he almost has to just put that out of his mind. Every outing matters for relievers in their numbers. But I think it’s tough to get up for this type of appearance the same way you would for one in a close game. One out, base is empty. Stepping in, Starling Marte. This one smoked could be trouble. Now he’ll turn for second. The throw in and he greets the new arm from the bullpen with a double. He has had such a good day today. I don’t think he’s going to want to leave when it’s over. Couple of doubles today for the DH. Mark Vientos up now for the Mets. struck out on just three pitches last time. And first offering is fouled off swing and a miss and he struck him out and there’s two away. Typically that high fast ball if it’s close to the top of the strike zone a hitter if he’s prepared for it can get to it. But that one just had that little jump at the end which indicates there’s a good spin rate on it and it didn’t decrease in velocity as that hitter’s internal clock would expect it to. And that’s why you see the swing and miss up and in. Look out. Straighten them up a little bit. Two outs and one in scoring position. And that’s a little bit high. And it’s two and 0. Swing and a highf fly ball. Pulled foul and that’s out of play. Well struck right field. One hops off the wall. Should be extra bases. Runner from second scores as they add on. Well, they call that an advantage count for a reason. You’re so much more likely to get something you can handle these days when you see a ball come off the bat like that. I mean, the first thing you want to know is a spectator. What was the exit velocity? 109 in this case. I mean, that’s just impressive. And it’s so cool. We can get that sort of feedback so instantly in today’s game. Man in scoring position with two away. And now the catcher comes up to him. Francisco Alvarez first offering and it just misses. All one. No strike. Right through there for a strike [Music] and misses inside. Next offering in there for a strike. It’s two and two. Just a really nice slider down and in there. He wants to get the hitter thinking fast ball. Speed him up and just subtract some velocity and add a little movement. Swings through that and it’s a strikeout. Inning over. And it could have been worse. But two round tripers in this inning. The long ball was working. Still a lopsided affair at 81. Now you’re watching Major League Baseball on the show back here in a blowout which gives us a chance to talk about just about anything. Bro, don’t get me fired. Sing, you grew up in the Bay Area. Did you have a favorite player as a kid? Yeah, I love the A’s lineup. I mean, guys like Ricky Henderson, Dave Kingman, Terry Steinback. Um, I mean, you just go on and on. Tony Armis. Uh just some tremendous rosters back then. And I loved as a kid getting on the BART train, the Bay Area Rapid Transit, pulling up right there to the stadium and then going in and watching the game. You also had the pleasure of going over and hitting and taking batting practice at a big leaguer’s house. Who was that? Yeah, Willie McGee. This one swung on and hit well way back there and it one hops the wall and that’s a leadoff double. All right, let’s go. So, a man aboard and at the plate for Miami, Troy Johnston and ball one to the right fielder. You know, these Marlins just lacking discipline at the plate in this ball game. Chasing pitches has been a big part of the story. We’ve seen it quite a bit today. It’s been tough for them to make contact at times and it just doesn’t look like they’re seeing it very well as a group. Swaying in a ball hammered left field. That one’s carrying and forget it. An absolute smash to left and they throw a pair on the board. It’s 83. [Applause] Change up in the zone is a hitter’s dream. It’s a BP fast ball, but you’re playing in real time. Most times the pitcher asking for a new baseball just like right there. Manager out of the dugout now and it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound. David Peterson won’t go any further tonight. Not his best performance, but he leaves with the lead and we’ll get a new arm into the game after this. Taking over on the mound for the Mets, Reed Garrett. And he’s got a nice lead to work with so he should come in throwing strikes, attacking these hitters. All right. Connor Norby will hit next. Grounded out. Back to the pitcher. His first time. Just missed. And on the mound, you know, confidence has to be pretty high with all of the swings and misses. He’s had them eaten out of the palm of his hand pretty much all game. Swing and a liner foul off to the right. Swing and a miss. struck him out and one out now. Well, you always want those pitches back as a hitter. It caught a lot of the zone and definitely not the intended location, but those splitters can dance around and miss a barrel even when they’re not perfectly executed. And up next for Miami, Javier Senoha. And that one is in for a strike at 95 going one swing and a fly ball well struck left field. Mullins sizes this one up and there’s two down. Up next for the Marlins, second base. Two down, base is empty. Xavier Edwards the next up for the Marlins. Swing and a miss as he was out front that time. Ground ball left side and it goes just foul. Next one just misses. One and two to count. And a swing and a miss. And that is the third out of the inning. Two-run shot for Miami this inning. It’s now 83. You’re dialed into the show. All set for the top of the sixth. Now it’s the second baseman, Ronnie Mauricio. Peterson back to work. Pitch misses and that is ball one. Action in the pen down there. Valente Beoozo appears to be getting loose. Soraniano getting cranked up as well. Miami swings and misses. And now it’s even one and one. And there’s a ball. [Music] Fouls one off. Two and two. spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another. Stays alive. Caught him looking for the K. Well, just couldn’t pull the trigger on the fast ball right there. And I don’t think he was taking it thinking it might be a cold ball or anything. I just think he was flat out frozen. Did not expect that location in my opinion. NMO stands in now and watches strike one. There’s a swing and a drive. That one hops against the fence and into second with one away. That’s a double. Got a fast ball middle of the plate. Jumped all over it. Absolutely smoked that ball. One out, runner at second. Francisco Lindor digs in now. Peterson checks the runner and he’s back safely. Fast ball is outside. swing and a ball lined out towards center. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. Two away. Now batting right fielder Juan Sto. Wad Sodto now he’s already homered in this game. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. NMO at second with two down. Well, no need to go right at this guy. First base is open. He can hurt you. So make him expand his zone. If he doesn’t, give him a walk. Late swing fouled to the left. That one fouled off. Two and two. fights it off. You’ll see brother at second. Two down. That one not close. Full count three. So I’m sure he’d love a chance to do some more damage here. Check swing at the full count offering appeal to third and he went around. Not an easy call there, but that puts an end to one hit, one left. 234 do up in the home half of the sixth. It’s the Mets eight and the Marlins three. Back now for the B Stanic. And you know, bullpen guys can struggle sometimes when they’re called upon with big leads because it just doesn’t have the same intensity as a tight game. So, we’ll see how Sharp he is. Your mental toughness matters in situations like this as well. And now for the Marlins. Jacob Marcy bowl for two in this one. And the first offering a fast ball for a strike. Activity in the bullpen. Brooksley getting loose out there. Hammered down the right side but foul cuts and misses. It’s a strike out. Oh, really went aggressive in with that slider. Good two strike pitch right there. At worst case scenario, it’s weak contact in play. Exactly where he and the catcher wanted it. Ramirez up for the third time here. Watches that one miss and a foul ball. Well, he got challenged with a good fast ball right there. just couldn’t catch up. That clips the corner. Next offering is downstairs. goes down swinging for the strike out and the Marlins with just one out left. Very strong coming out of the pin so far as he punches out the first two batters he’s faced in this one getting straight to work. Man, it’s talked about a lot, but relievers are just so electric these days. He’s having fun at bats if you’re a hitter. And I’m so glad I’m retired. Lopez in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike. Next offering way upstairs. This one popped up. Foul ground first base side ball game. Sometimes it takes just getting away from home. Players can sort of come together, connect a little bit more than they do when they’re at home with their families and that can breed to success on the field as we saw in this game today. Excellent win by this team. 83 the final in this one for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show. I’m John Shami saying so long.
