Chicago Bears Trade Rumors: TRADE For Giants’ EDGE Kayvon Thibodeux + Today’s Bears News
Should the Chicago Bears trade for Giants edge rusher Kavon Tibido? There’s some conflicting reports out there about his availability. We explore next here on Chicago Bears. Now, I’m Harrison Graham. The NFL trade deadline is one week away. There hasn’t been a lot of bigname rumors recently, but Jordan Schultz, formerly of Fox Sports, reports that Kavon Tibido is a name to watch. Here was the full uh post on Twitter. He said, “Another name to watch on the trade front is Kavon Tibido. He’s under contract for another year after the season, but some around the league have wondered whether he’s a part of New York’s long-term plans and if he could become available with the Giants sitting at 2 and six. teams are actively exploring the pass rush trade market but movement has been slow in part because there are so many available options. Uh now Mike Gafel Olo of the NFL network uh tweeted out like not too long after that saying spoke to a few teams that have reached out to the Giants on Kavon Tibido and they have been told there’s no interest in trading him. Tibido is under contract through next season. The team picked up his fifth year option. They intend on having him in 2026. I’ll also add that Ian Rapaort, also of NFL Network, quote tweeted that and said they didn’t build up this defensive line to tear it down, which if you followed the history, Jordan Schultz and Ian Rapaort do not get along. So, that was a subtle shot, I think. So, is Schultz right? Is Gafo and Raport right? Who knows? I’m sure they’re hearing some different things. I do think one thing is for sure, it would probably take a pretty big offer. Like, I don’t think they’re trading Kavon Tibido for just a third round pick. they have the fifth year option next year. They don’t have to force the issue uh right now. If he was an impending free agent and they were conflicted on extending him because they did draft Abdul Carter, that would be one thing, but uh they’ve bought themselves some time with the fifthear option. Uh Tippido is having a good year. The sack production uh isn’t great. Uh but uh he’s generated a good amount of pressure. That uh pass rush win rate has dipped in recent weeks. It’s uh not quite where you’d like to have it. But I also don’t love what Shane Bowen is having these defensive linemen do. They should be getting way more production out of this group overall. I don’t think he’s a very good defensive coordinator whatsoever. One area he has taken a massive leap in is as a run defender. He’s having the best year of his career setting the edge mucking it up in the run game. So, uh you like that this isn’t just some pass rush specialist. Uh but uh I will say does this feel a little Montes Sweatesque from a few years ago where Kavon Tibido is a good player but can he be like a top guy on a defensive line? I think that would be the question you’d have to ask yourself and if the answer is no then how much are you willing to give up if you’re a team like the Bears? Should the Bears trade for Kavon? What do you think? Type T for trade or P for pass? Do you want Kavon Tibido in Chicago? Let us know what you guys think. Now, if you look at the cap hits for Tibido, if he’s traded this year, it’s like nothing. It’s prrated, goes down by the week. Uh 600,000 wouldn’t obviously do anything to your salary cap. And then his fifth year option next year of 14.75 million. Pretty reasonable number for a young talented edge rusher. So, uh again, I think that’s part of why the Giants would be hesitant to move him if they didn’t get an offer that they thought uh was fair and generous. Um, one thing I will say personally, just if I’m running the Bears, there’s no chance I’m trading a first round pick uh right now for Kavon Tibido. Um, you know, I’d be hesitant even to do a second just with where the Bears are at right now. They’re four and three, but is Kavon Tibido putting you over the edge? Uh, maybe he is, maybe he isn’t. He’s a young controllable asset, which is nice to have, but I would still be hesitant to trade a premium draft pick right now. Now, one possibility, and we’ve discussed this before on a couple mailbags and so on and so forth, is would DJ Moore be a piece you’d be willing to part with in a trade like this? If you’re projecting forward, if you’re unsure about DJ Moore’s long-term uh spot on this roster, if you’re projecting Luther Burton to continue to take steps forward and be a bigger piece u in the offense, you obviously drafted Coloulston Lovelin. uh if you wanted to unload DJ Moore’s salary in the future anyway, would you consider offering him in like a draft pick uh for Kavon Tibido, that’s something you could do? I’ve been pretty firm in saying I’d be surprised if DJ Moore got traded mid-season, but if he did, I think it would almost certainly be in some kind of player swap trade. I don’t think you would just trade him for a draft pick. So, we’ll explore a little bit more on the Kavon front. Plus, the Bears did sign a defensive end today. So, do want to dive into that news as well. But today’s show is sponsored by Ethos. Life insurance is one of the most important investments you can make in your family. Um, you know, I I don’t think the Giants would take a straightup swap here. Even though DJ Moore would obviously help Jackson Dart in his development, he’s still young enough that you could pair him with Mallet Neighbors long term and that could be your uh one-two punch. But I just think right now DJ Moore’s trade value isn’t super high because he hasn’t had a ton of production this year. Um, he does have a big contract whereas Kavon hasn’t been paid yet. So all this stuff factors in when you’re trying to calculate trade value. So uh DJ and a fourth for Kavon. I’m not even saying like I would for sure do that. I’m just saying I would be more open to some kind of structure like this if you feel good about your other young receivers than like here’s a first, here’s a second for Kavon Tibido. Like I I’m not ready to pull the trigger on a premium draft pick trade like that. Uh obviously this defensive line needs work. Um Montes Sweat, is he a long-term option? that’s up in the air. Dio Adenbo, you’re stuck with him who through next year unless some team’s willing to trade for him, which that would be a surprise. So, you’re hoping he improves. Austin Booker’s back, but uh your rookie second round picker just tore his ACL. He’s out for the year. Dominic Robinson’s banged up right now. Uh I do think if you were to bring in Kavon Tibido, that probably means a you’re likely going to extend him in the offseason and b you probably would pivot off Montes Sweat in that scenario. Now, Swat’s been playing better recently, so do you kind of want to get more of a sample size from him to see if he could still be a guy you would have beyond this year? I mean, hopefully that’s the case. I mean, you gave him a lot of money you want him to produce and he has been better recently. I still don’t think he’s living up to 25 million a year, but um you know, maybe he continues to build off this stretch, but Kavon Tibido is a nice player. I do kind of put him into that Montes sweat category of really good player when he’s at his best. not sure he can be the best player on a defensive line. So I think any kind of trade/contract compensation has to reflect that when it comes to a player like this. Would you do this trade to revisit it here? Tibido for DJ Moore in a fourth. Would you do that swap? Type Y for yes. Type in for no. This second I would probably hold off. Let’s get through the Bears Bengals game first and just see kind of where things sit with this team. Obviously, uh, with the trademark in general, is Luther Burden back from the concussion protocol at that point? Obviously, that’s a small factor in this as well. So, I wouldn’t do it this second, but you know, before the deadline, if I felt good about the other receivers after Roma, I would uh I’d at least be willing to entertain the idea of that. And again, I’d rather do that type of trade than give up a premium draft pick. Okay, if the Bears make a trade, we’re going live. So, subscribe to the channel, turn on those notifications. will of course be live for trade deadline day regardless whether they make a trade or not. But if they make a trade sooner than that or on deadline day, we’ll be live covering it. So, hit the subscribe button, turn on those noties so you know once we once we go live and do not miss out. We’re not going live for the signing of Jonathan Garvin, but we are still covering it because that’s what we do. The Bears have signed him to the practice squad, the former Green Bay Packer. Tom Pelisero with the note uh that they’re signing the former Miami Hurricane uh to the practice squad courtesy of his agency there. Um you know, kind of just a background on his journey. He went to college at Miami, graduated in uh 2019, was a 2027th round draft pick uh for the Packers. Spent three years there, had one and a half sacks in 2021. That was probably his most productive season. Um bounced around. He got cut in 23. uh wasn’t really on a team that year. Signed with the UFFL Birmingham Stallions. They actually won the league that year. He was pretty good for them. Uh signed with the 49ers in the offseason, got cut on final roster cuts. And uh now he’s on the Bears practice squad. And again, the Bears are thin at defensive end right now. They don’t have a ton of bodies uh right now at this position. It’s not crazy to say that Jonathan Garvin this week or in the near future could be a game day elevation off the practice squad. I mean, this is what you got. You got Montes, Sweat, Dio Dingo, Austin Booker is making his season debut this week. He’s been activated from short-term IR. Uh Daniel Hardy, who’s more of a special teams player, and then you have Jeremy Chroma and Jonathan Garvin on the practice squad. That’s it. I mean, you were playing Shamar Turner more at edge. Dominique Robinson has actually been pretty decent. he’s out for at least a few weeks with that high ankle sprain. So, um they had to at least get a body in here that could try to pick up the defense quickly and uh potentially play in the near future if you need him to. I think you wouldn’t need him this week barring an injury in practice, but um you know, you’re probably one injury away uh from calling him or Chroma up and you might even call one of them up this week depending on how many bodies you need for this matchup. So, uh, definitely a position that’s thinned out just like the cornerback position. So, I’ll ask you, what is the bigger concern on the defense right now? Is it edge or is it cornerback? I think for this upcoming matchup, it’s probably corner against Jamar Chase and T. Higgins trottting out guys like Nick Mloud and Jaylen Jones. That’s a scary proposition, but in general, both these positions need some more depth and honestly need some more uh just quality players. Uh, obviously you have good players at corner who are just hurt right now. Hopefully they get back soon, especially Tyreek Stevenson, but edge big picture is probably the bigger need because you don’t have great production there. All right, before we sign off, Brad Bigs has the note that the Bears did bring in seven players for a try out today. A lot of offensive and defensive linemen. The Utah or former Utah offensive tackle Jackson Barton. Jake Hansen, former Oregon center. Royce Newman, former Miss guard. Andrew Stuber, the offensive tackle out of Michigan, DJ Johnson, the Oregon linebacker, a pit linebacker, Rashad Weaver, and defensive end Jeremiah Martin out of Washington. Notice no corners in there. Maybe that’s a sign that Tyreek Stevenson uh is going to be uh coming back this week. The Bears do have a roster spot open. They officially put Shamar Turner on IR and activated Austin Booker, which still leaves them with one roster spot. So, we’ll see what they do. So, it could be a manager being activated later in the week, but we’ll have to wait and see. We of course will have it all covered here on Chicago Bears now. So, don’t forget to subscribe and turn on those notifications. We’ll see you guys soon. Bear down.

Are you stupid , hell no DJ production is down because Caleb doesn’t throw to him “beer boi”!
No way. DJ is rated higher. No way I give him up and a 4th. Crazy take.
That’s a bad deal! The Bears would be trading the better of the players
Dude is slow ! Bears aren’t beating the Bengals in Cincinnati are you crazy Caleb isn’t ready they’re def blitzing him often all day !
Is Yannick Ngakwe done?
How about Asante Samuel for Corner
T – but Poles won’t get it done.
P
Dj is the best fn player we have if we trade him im gonna shit all over the ground in greenbay
Poles sucks he never spends money on good players
We’re not going to make big swings or go for one-year band-aids when we’re not a contender this year. Also, we’re broke.
Wow you mfs don't know s### , keep investing In losers
Dj for max crosby, or its a no
You reaching in this video Harrison 😂😂😂
Need to leave DJ MORE alone for now
No
Roschon for thibodeaux
Both
If he is available hell yes
Not a fan of Thibodeaux. He’s young and has potential but we can’t afford to risk any assets on potential. If the bears are going to give up DJ Moore or any first or second round picks they better get a sure thing. I really like Montez Sweat but even he is not living up to his contract. This is Thibodeaux thing is a disaster waiting to happen.
What? Why is everybody always disrespecting DJ, Moore? He is still our number one. Rome drops too many balls. He will be good, but not yet

I would to keep DJ but Caleb doesn’t even look his way much. DJ could be a Malik Nabors style player for another team who appreciates him, Caleb clearly doesn’t. With Caleb as QB, it’s the Rome Show with sprinkles of Luther thrown in. DJ is nowhere to be found.
Why not Dayo and a 3rd or 4th for Kayvon T?
Who in tf is he 😅😅 we need some warriors on the D line😂😂
Hard pass on DJ and a 4th. So we give the Giants the better player and a 4th round pick. If it was Max Crosby I would make that trade heck I would even give them a 1st rounder to get it done if Poles is still drafting for Bears.
N
The 9ers just got a pass rusher from New England for a sixth and 7th rounders ,why can’t we pull something off like that ?
Sick and tired of hypotheticals!! Bother us with actual NEWS!!!!
TTTT
Poles is a Pole…a complete tool….if he does nothing before the deadline.
#Bears If you're trading DJ, that needs to be towards a major player… Maxx Crosby.
2026 2nd rounder & 4th rounder, and Daniel Hardy in exchange for Kayvon. Read this Poles, get it done.
