John Harbaugh: ‘We’re Excited for the Opportunity’ | Baltimore Ravens

here. Uh good day. A little chillier than it’s been. Uh but uh good practice and we’re ready to uh to kind of finish up our preparation on a short week for a Thursday night game. We’ll have another practice tomorrow and then we’ll be on the plane tomorrow night. What questions you have? Well, I don’t think we have many injuries, which is kind of So, I mean, how does it feel to be for like at least one week now? Pretty darn healthy. I think it’s our first uh our first uh week all season where we’ve had all 53 guys out there practicing. So that’s a that’s a it’s nice to see. We had plenty of plenty of guys and it was a good practice. John, I do have an injury. How’s that possible? Is there any update on Washington? I think that was the first week maybe. Yeah, there is uh uh he’s he’s dealing with a uh he’s actually having a surgery. He’s actually having a surgery. So, I don’t know what details I can get into on it right now. You kind of that kind of came out of the blue on on that one, but uh uh that’s uh we’ll have more information for you soon. Is that is that season ending or I I’ll have more information on it soon. Yeah. You think just when you think Yeah. Yeah. Well, that just ruined the mood, you know. Well, pick me up again out there again. He said how he looks good. Just we’ve heard guys talk about, you know, he raises like the energy level when he’s out there. Curious from like a coaching standpoint, what does it do when you have him back out there? I know you you have faith in all the guys, but when specifically you get him back out there? Well, of course. I mean, it’s really true for every player, you know. I mean, you really are happy no matter who the player is when they’re out there if they haven’t been out there. But certainly true for your quarterback, certainly true for our quarterback. You know, Lamar is our quarterback and and uh he’s our guy. So, have him out there is great. It’s exciting. Um and you know, we’re excited for we’re excited for the opportunity Thursday night to go down there and play. John, you mentioned the chance with Carl Austin. Um I guess we’ll find out unfortunately with the race season. What? I mean, been a long time without playing and now he’s you’re playing a little bit. How How has he look? Yeah, he’s looked good. He He was We were just talking to him about learning the defense. He felt like he was picking it up quickly. He kind of appreciated the way it’s organized. He thought it was it was uh something that was uh he could learn well, but uh that decision hasn’t been made quite yet. Uh that’s something that we’re still talking about. Johnny, you kind of talk so much about just belief, staying the course, and obviously this is nothing new for you, but sometimes for players, the kind of scene is believing. Do you see a change this week knowing what happened with you Sunday with the win, the rest of the North losing Sunday, and how important Thursday can be of how big this week can be for that? Uh, you know, I think everybody kind of understands it. I I think everybody’s just locked in. I believe everybody’s locked in on the game. There hasn’t been any conversation about any of that part of it. Um, we created an opportunity this week by winning last week. And really, that’s what it is, an opportunity this week. And we have to go play our best football against a team that did the same thing. I mean, they went up to Atlanta. They played they played inspired football. They won a football game going away. Uh, they’ve had two great defensive efforts in the last in the last couple weeks. Uh, giving up, you know, low 200 yards. Anthony Weaver’s done a great job with that defense, obviously. So, um, they’re playing physical football. Uh, they’ve got so much speed. so many weapons on offense. Uh they’re tough to defend. We’ve just got our hands full for Thursday night and that’s really that’s really the only thing that we’re focusing on. John, every year we see the stats on how challenging these Thursday night games are for the visiting teams. I mean to to your mind, what what is the hardest thing about? Well, I think it’s a short week travel. you know, it’s uh you you just uh you’re you’re not very far out of the game, 72 hours or something like that, and you’re getting on a plane and traveling and uh and that’s that’s the biggest challenge. Is there any advantage of coming off a game where you, you know, did a lot of things well and kind of got things rolling again or is that still Well, yeah. I mean, it’s that’s good. I it’s we needed that game, but that’s now it’s in the past and you know, we just got to get locked in on the next one. John, you obviously you’re focused on How would you characterize this time of year that great discussion with Eric? Is it look tell me if there’s something we talk about? Is it a regular check-in or is it just that dialogue really hasn’t heated up yet? Uh no, it’s a it’s a regular dialogue. It’s a regular dialogue. Sure. Hey, what have you heard? You might call. Yeah. Uh it’s uh we we’re right across the hall from each other, so it’s it’s pretty pretty regular multiple times a day. Okay. Great. All right. Thanks.
