Minnesota Vikings News Dump (10.29.2025) | KOC Speaks, Greenard Cryptic, Brady on Sunday

[Music] What’s going on Jeromes? We are back from outer space back. Glad to be back in in the friendly confines. Uh it’s a beautiful Wednesday. It’s time for another Vikings news dump. He sees you when you’re pooping. That’s right. So, of course, the story dour is sort of the fallout. What happened with Carson Wentz? Now, I don’t know, man. like the the whole spin from Kevin Okonnell now it’s I don’t know but all I know is that Carson Wentz was tough as hell out there he he fought through injury but also at a certain point you have to save a player from himself also especially in the second half of that Chargers game he was not helping the team so it was a pirick victory it just doesn’t make any sense a at all right but Wentz season ending shoulder surgery, all that stuff. Yeah. Uh and Kevin McConnell, I was talking with PA on the mic. Uh so this is the was it Nixon Frost? Yeah. The the hardcore questions. Now, obviously, you know, Paul Allen, voice of the Vikings, is not going to grill Kevin Oonnell. Also, the local media is not going to grill Kevin Oonnell either because here’s the thing. So, a beat writer, you have to defend access, right? So you don’t have to come off as PR for for the team. Some beat writers do and and respect mo most of the Vikings beat writers do not. But also you cannot burn down bridges because you still have to have access and get quotes and get stories and all that stuff. So not saying that they’re treating Kevin Ocon with kid gloves or they will today at his presser but I don’t know. Also, it’s Wednesday, so JJ McCarthy is going to be meeting with the with the media jackals. Uh, Vik page Vikings head coach Kevin McConnell said that after Carson Went suffered his shoulder injury, medical experts confirmed he couldn’t make it worse, though surgery would eventually be needed. Wentz understood that and expressed his desire to play through it every way possible he could. Kevin said that he had continued dialogue with Wentz after speaking with medical team throughout the last few weeks of the injury Friday morning when they arrived from LA. once officially says it’s time to get it fixed. When a guy is so committed and so all in and does not want to be taken off the field, you have to honor that. So, you have to honor a player being tough and want to fight through injury even though the injury is significantly impacting his caliber of play. What What about honoring the rest of the team? H what about that? Yeah. Uh and it continued, “Honor that. Honor that. Honor that.” Uh Gastling uh blah blah blah. There was a one time where we went against the grain of what uh was in Carson’s best interest in keeping him on the field. Okonnell said they consulted with a doctor blah blah blah blah blah blah. I think all around this is a bad look, you know, and it’s one thing where hey JJ McCarthy his ankle has to be 100 bajillion% before he gets before he sniffs a field. What about honoring JJ McCarthy want to be on the field and fight through injury? You have the entire football world saying that he’s a bust who was softbenched uh because he’s not fighting through his injury, right? And then you have Carson Wentz, I want to play through my injury. Okay, we’re going to keep putting you out there until you you you basically have to be scraped off the field. And that’s essentially what happened. if WZ wasn’t in such agonizing pain at the end of the game. I don’t even know if Brosmer comes in for that last stretch. Who knows? But either way, uh it’s done with and the Vikings are sitting at three and four. They got Lions uh on the horizon and it just feels like this is all adding up where the Vikings have their backs against the wall. They’re a talented football team. JJ McCarthy makes a damn return and just like here we go, man. Off to the races, baby. That’s right. Also, so it’s very easy to nitpick things when things aren’t going well. All right. The Vikings are three and four. Vikings fan page. There’s been underlying tension within the Vikings team since the spring. Als mentioned on the Alec Lewis show, he added that the joy and energy that wants to find Kevin Con successful seasons has noticeably faded. I feel like this is a little bit of revisionist history because uh the the commander’s beat writer Nikki I can’t pronounce her last name. So she said during the offseason that the vibes were off and commies fans were like oh how dare you we made that we made the NFC title game. How dare you? But then the vibes have been off right now. It would be one thing if Lewis said this during the off season, right? But this just seems like convenient 2020 hindsight revisionist history where you know it’s very easy for Kevin McConnell and the you know the Ted Lasso uh you super positive lifted everyone up like that works when you’re winning. Like any coaching style frankly works when you’re winning, right? And the vibes are going to be immaculate when you’re winning. But the Vikings have not been winning and injuries issue. The way they handled the quarterback position issue. So everything’s issue right now. Uh you know what’s going to make the vibes better? You know the Vikings go on a four-game winning streak heading into Seattle. All right. So they get to seven and four want some more just going in Detroit uh and burning that place down. Burn Udica to the ground. I think that’s exactly uh what what will happen, right? And that’s exactly uh what will be good to go because Kevin Oonnell announced uh Aliss again Vikings head coach Kevin Con on KFAM said that JJ McCarthy is expected to have a full week of prep this week ahead of the Lions game. Okonnell said Max Brogmer will step into the number two role. Well, he was number two. Yeah. And so McCarth he’s he’s not he’s not going to officially name McCarthy starter because he he technically has never officially named someone starter. He’s said that, “Hey, Carson wants to gonna start this game.” All right, but a full-time starter. He hasn’t done that. And frankly, he didn’t even name JJ McCarthy quarterback one all off seasonason, right? But JJ getting the full week of work. You know, bro, quarterback 2. I’m sure they’ll bring in a veteran because uh the Vikings uh cleared a practice squad spot, letting go safety Kavan Wallace. So, we talked about you’re not training for a quarterback, you know, you’re not training for Kurt Cousins. is now trading for maybe you’re kicking the tires, lighting the fires on Jameus or Russell Wilson. Sure, that’s been reported out there. But I don’t know. I feel like you just want a veteran quarterback three and you can get that on the practice squad. Desmond was here for two and a half weeks after JJ got hurt initially. So go do that. Also doing that on Sunday. Uh Kevin Burkhard, Tom Brady, Aaron Andrew, and Tom Raldi are on the weekend call this weekend for Vikings Lions on Fox. Remember Tom Tom Raldi was on ESPN? He always had the sad stories where it’s like uh and then he got a scholarship and then his entire family died in a in a terrible grease fire and now he cannot even stand the smell of fast food places. Tom Raldi um piano. But yeah, toron Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time. He’s not the best announcer. I like Birkhart. Should have never demoted Greg Olsen, but you know, but also maybe it’s a sign. Maybe this is indeed a sign. Come on, baby. Also a sign that the season hasn’t gone great. So, Jonathan Grard. So, Grard isn’t really too active on social media, right? And it it always feels like before a team breaks down or before a trade request comes in, there’s always like crypticness on social media. Uh Grard, if you believe what they say, then you become what they say. And I’m sure that Gernard’s like, “Oh, oh, two sacks on the season. You’re supposed to be elite.” All that stuff. If you actually watch the game, Jonathan Gernard is the best Vikings defender. He’s got a bazillion pressures. He’s making plays in the run game when no one else is. He’s making plays on the backside uh of running plays, which is just insane. Like Grard is playing his ass off, right? And I I I know people want to piss him like, “Oh, he got two sacks. He he’ll get more. Don’t worry about it. Things things will get squared away.” And we had said if the Vikings somehow allegedly lose at Detroit, I’m not saying that the Vikings would trade Gernard, but a lot of teams will be calling about Jonathan Gernard because his contract is very team friendly. Uh and his production is has not been muted this season, right? So, I said watch out for that. I I’m not I’m not letting him go and I’ll never let you go, but teams will be calm. I say I’m just saying. also Gard uh named a player representative. He’s the alternate number two uh for the NFL PA union. Andrew Depollo is uh the lead representative for the Vikings. Uh Cashman is alternate one. Hawinson alternate three. So it makes sense. Andrew Paulo looks like someone who’s good at pushing paper. So there you go. Representation. Uh I I I want them to file a complaint on how the Vikings handle Carson Wentz because I feel like there’s issues there. Yeah. Also this Friday, Halloween. So Halloween on Friday is actually pretty good. All right, so uh if you like trunk or treats, they’re not going to do a Halloween night. They’re not not going to take that away. So actually last Friday, um the kids did a trunk or treat at our church and that was fantastic. So they actually get two Halloweens. It’s great. Uh but the Vikings put this out. Beware of the hitman. Ah ah ah ah. I don’t know why he’s the count, but also would Hitman be a mummy. Also, especially considering how hard-hitting Harrison Smith has been throughout the years, having the the scar where like the brain CTE stuff. I don’t know, man. I can Could he be like a vampire or a mummy or something? Actually, they’re both dead, aren’t vampires technically dead because they’re immortal, right? I don’t know if I’d want to be immortal, you know, because well, first off, do you have to eat eat and drink blood all the time? Like like can’t you switch it up? Like can’t you have like a nice like black and blue rare steak? Maybe like a IPA or something or is it strictly blood? Is that the only way that you can process nutrients is blood? No. No. Uh also it’s like Tom Hanks’s punishment in the Green Mile. like his punishment was being becoming attached to people and then watching them die because he has to live basically forever. Now that’s the thing with pets too. That’s what’s deficit is that pets lifespans are so short. So like during your lifetime you could go through like four or five pets and it is such pain. It’s like Marley and me four or five times in your life. What are we talking about? Oh. Uh, Harrison. Yeah. Why can’t be a mummy? Uh, but Aon Jones, uh, family event. Uh, his kid Aaron Jones Jr. Aaron Jones Jr. looking like Aaron Jones senior. Love to see that. And also, so a lot a lot of people were up in arms about Isaiah Rogers. Is it out out of pocket? Sure. But is it on brand for Isay Rogers? Yes. All right. So Rogers looking good. Will Fry, Beetlejuice, Beetleju, Beetleju, Beetleju. Hopefully, he’ll appear. So, that’s all. Anyways, where do you even find a costume like this? Or or is this homemade? Could be. Anyways, your thoughts are thoughts. Happy Wednesday. You guys are the absolute best. You know what to do. Skull production value. Hey, hey, hey.

  1. Vikings are gonna shock everyone this week this is what the Vikings do we play up to competition and sometimes play down to competition but Vikings will beat Detroit 35-24 JJ will come in and thrive this game will turn us around this team will go 12-5 or 11-6

  2. There is more to this story that we will never know, why did Darrisaw pull himself out? Was it because it was a non-conference game? You did not see KOC or other teammates rallying around Wentz, like they did others in the past. There is something that is definitely off.

  3. Our fanbase is full of pessimistic idiots. It's crazy how fast they turn. If we end up 12-5 or something, theyll say "oh yeah i said it all along." Everyone needs to stfu and let the process play out lol

  4. When will KOC get it together? Inconsistent play calling and questionable decisions. Nice guy but not sure he'll lead the Vikes to a SB.

  5. I heard from sources that at halftime KOc called Wentz a candy-ass, and Wentz said “you want me to play on one arm”, and KOC screamed “I want you to be a football player” and then that fired Wentz up to go out and get creamed for another two quarters.

  6. If KOC wants to play injured players for THEIR sake and their honor, how do you think Jefferson feels hearing that stupid shit? Lol. Be sure to honor Jefferson when he requests a trade then lol

  7. Couldn't help notice that KOC scratched his nose 3 times in the space of a minute when explaining their decision making (around 07:30 into the interview), which was interesting….

  8. Hey Vikings visiting staff, just a word of advice, stop f*king around!
    Frustration is an understatement!!
I mean some teams are bad because they're bad, but this is a huge waste of talent!!

  9. We need new ownership. This group is more concerned about DEI than the game. It has to be about the team the game and there in lies the problem. Not about gambling, not about bending to the social idiots, not about getting more outlier fans that don’t even like American Football. The NFL has been going downhill since Madden quit broadcasting. What’s the percentage of injury this year? I have not looked but maybe the FBI is.

  10. Greenard is still best player on the defense by a mile. If you just watch him he wins almost every rep and is constantly held but no calls. Greenard is a beast.

  11. Here's my take on Wentz being left in:

I once heard Kyle Shanahan say in an interview that when Purdy turned out to be the best QB on the roster, he had to admit to Jed York that the picks they spent on Lance were a waste. He said that nobody was happy about that.

KOC and the Vikings front office could be in a similar boat. They want JJM to work out long term, because that was THEIR plan for the last two years. For it to go awry would reflect badly on their decisions and their careers.

Lets look at that Chargers game. Wentz looks bad and the score at halftime is 3-21, a 3 score game. Winning looks unlikely.

If Brosmer plays an incredible half and wins, there would be questions from every talking head and part of our fanbase about whether Brosmer should be the starter, a bad look for KOC and KAM's plan.

Also, putting Brosmer behind that oline is a major injury risk. Remember when we lost Cousins, then Mullens, then Jaren hall and had to bring in Dobbs? I think KOC remembers that and realizes the importance of keeping his backups healthy.

So I think putting Brosmer in was a lose lose situation for KOC, and the slim chances of getting a win were not worth the risk.

  12. Excellent points Andy! 👍FWIW & IMHO, Greenard's message was for his teammates. Rogers' costume is HILARIOUS!😂
Also, Andy is right…the handling of Carson Wentz is/was a BAD look! Also, and represents yet another example of the NFL's long history of letting players stay on the field, even after serious injures.
The most obvious (..perhaps egregious..) example the handling of players who get concussed during a game. Despite what the league has said, it had known for a long time that the damage from multiple concussions can accumulate. For decades & decades, there have been plenty of athletes in contact sports who effectively had become disabled because of repeated concussions…and in some cases, died because of blows to the head (esp. in boxing & in martial arts..).
Despite all the anecdotal evidence & research pointing towards the accumulative nature of brain damage, league officials, owners, coaches & medical staffs in football & other sports continued to 'honour' their players' desire to stay in the game after being knocked-out one or more times…and terrible outcomes followed. It was only when the issues re CTE began to lead to lawsuits & negative press, along with the risk to players who are 'the face of the league', that rules were changed to protect players.😕
So, IMHO, whether or not KOC's intentions were pure, KOC screwed up. His excuse (..'honouring' Wentz's desire to keep playing..) cannot be passed off as acceptable & KOC owes Wentz, the team & fans an apology.
