Hornets at Heat: Coach Charles Lee Postgame Media Availability | 10/28/2025

Thank you so much, Eric. So many times in this game today, guy, uh, coach, you guys were able to pull pretty close within one score. What were the breakdowns that just let this game get away? Yeah, you know, I felt like it was one of those games it was a ton about transition. They played with good pace. Um, their kick aheads, I think, kind of bothered us even after makes. They were just able to get out and create some advantages early on in the clock. And then I thought, uh, their driving and kicking and, you know, credit to them. A couple guys hit some shots that, um, maybe don’t shoot it as well as they did today, but they had it firing all cylinders. And I think that like you said, when we get to that point, when we get close, we got to buckle down. We got to be able to defend a lot better. 144 isn’t going to cut it um on a night-to-ight basis. How much do you have to adjust on the fly very quickly when a guy like Norman Powell is ruled out just shortly before the game? Yeah, it does some things to to your uh scouting report, especially a guy like that who is a big- time creator for them. Um but the rest of the game plan, you know, it’s it’s stuff that we work on at the beginning of training camp. It’s your transition defense. It’s guarding the ball. lots great shift activity and then finishing possessions and they did a lot of those things just better than us tonight. Ryan Cochr Brener got a lot of minutes today, 31 minutes. What have you seen out of him early in his career growth I should say in just four games? I think that he just brings it on both ends of the floor. He gives us um help and and the ability to protect the paint on defense and then offensively. Uh he’s got a really good feel for his screening angles, how to work the dunker, his offensive rebounding and his passing. So, a lot of different elements. Um and I thought that it was just a better matchup sometimes with some of the bigs that they threw out there. Thanks, coach. Thank you, Eric.

  1. The first challenge against a top-tier defense and they didn't look good. They really need a healthy Brandon Miller to see the team's potential. The rookies have performed well, but they're not enough support against the top defensive teams in the league. The Hornets need to continue to defeat teams they're expected to, and squeak out a few upsets until reinforcements arrive.
