JJ Redick on his talk with Austin Reaves in the offseason: “It’s as much Austin’s team as it is LeBron’s team or Luka’s team. I told him he’s out of excuses. You’re no longer the undrafted guy who’s a young player. You’re one of the guys now. Every day, he’s willing to be coached. It’s been awesome”

  1. Redick: It’s as much Austin’s team as it is LeBron’s team or Luka’s team.

The weird side of r/lakers: We should sell high and trade Reaves, Rui, Gabe, and Knecht for Jrue Holiday and Deni Avdija.

  2. And it shows!

Austin has taken yet another leap. Very commendable to have handled the assignment and met the expectations. 😤🔥🙏💛💜

  3. Crazy to think that JJ who was a bonafide star in duke was just an elite player and he’s coaching an undrafted star player

  4. I think it would be cool to develop another star, instead of just getting a new star from trade/free agency. Hopefully the Lakers keep AR. If AR really has taken that step forward and can maintain his current output, I think he deserves that 50 million a year.

  5. AR knows he can improve. JJ knows he is a coachable player. Team feels comfortable with that. This is good chemistry. It’s amazing to see the full spectrum of players and their attitude towards approaching the game. What a contrast to see compared to the tantrum Jimmy Butler threw last season.

    Lakers pay this man 4/160.

  6. How funny. Same spiel I give to mentees…lol You’re an adult now and you should have the confidence of knowing you’re an adult now and belong at the adult table. So have the confidence to speak up.

  7. AR15 is a part of this team. He is crucial to our success. I feel like every year he’s been with us, he’s gotten better and better. This is going to be a tremendous year for him. No more excuses and I think he’ll rise to the challenge like we are already seeing in the early part of the season.

  8. I know this is a random place to post it, but I really love this laker team. I genuinely feel like they want to win, they respect their coach and we actually have a decent shot this year. It’s so refreshing after a couple years of hating the coach and having huge holes in the roster. I know we aren’t perfect, and a couple of those holes are still there. But we are in such a better place and I just love it

  9. Part of why Austin has taken a leap offensively is due to JJ’s confidence in him since he got here.

Ham benched reaves because HE put the ball in his hands knowing there was still a learning curve point guard wise he was still figuring out. The minute he did that the entire team had Austin’s back and didn’t fuck with ham the entire year.

  10. I think the best part of AR’s development is we haven’t seen even a slice of an ego trip. Still humble, still learning, and holy crap has he improved every season.
