BREAKING: New York Jets TRADE Michael Carter & Acquire John Metchie + A Pick Swap!
Yes. Yes. The New York Jets just made an awesome trade, right? Darren Muji is packaging Michael Carter and a 2027 seventhround draft pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for wide receiver John Mechi, former Alabama star, and a 2027 sixthround pick. So, what Muji just did was he traded away a player that I don’t believe is here going to be here for the long term. I do believe he would have been a cap casualty after the season ends. He’s one of the highest paid slot corners in football and he’s not the best slot corner on the team. We already have his replacement in Jarvis Brown Lee, right? In the weeks leading up to the trade deadline, the one thing I kept on, you know, mentioning over and over again. I’m okay moving on from Michael Carter for I don’t want to say basically anything, but you know, if it’s a late run pick, if it’s a future pick, I’m fine with it. Why? Because I’m really concerned about that contract moving forward. I’m concerned about his recent play. Just going to be honest, through the first fourish games of the NFL season. He looked unplayable and I hate to say it because I really like Michael Carter the person. I love his story. Come day three pick out of Duke. Comes in is feisty. He’s making an impact as a rookie and Roberts defense in the slop you know slot corner nickel quarterback that whole position is very very tough. You know you right let like it is you have to be light on your feet. You have to be feisty. You have to be able to actually contribute in run support. Like slot corner is difficult to just step in and just instantly produce. And Michael Carter did that for, you know, the first couple years of his NFL career. So, I’m wishing him nothing but the best over in Philadelphia, right? I thank him for his time with the Jets. And again, I hope he goes to Philly and balls. I hope, you know, he has immense success. But I have to put my fandom aside. I have to look at things objectively. And objectively speaking, Michael Carter looked unplayable through the first four games of the NFL season. And at that price tag, again, one of the top highest paid slot corners in football for that level of production, that is a huge margin. That that is a huge huge difference there. And that is a problem if you’re a general manager who did not draft that player, who did not give Michael Carter that extension to look at that contract equals, you know, it should equal similar sort of production. And that simply wasn’t the case with Michael Carter. Throw on top of it that in exchange for a pick swap, we go out and we land an upgrade in Jarvis Brownley, a young player who can continue to get better, a player who already fits the Aaron Glenn system, the Steve Wils defense. He has this, you know, uh, aggressive, violent personality, which I really like, which I think the Jets desperately need on this team. He comes in and is an instant upgrade immediately. We all felt his presence against the Denver Broncos. So, again, that’s why I was okay with, hey, we can move on for Michael Carter. We don’t have to, you know, now invest assets into replacing Michael Carter. You know, it’s not like trading away Bree Hall or Jermaine Johnson or Quinnon where it’s just like, okay, now that player’s leaving and now we have to potentially use the picks that we’re getting back in return to now fix that position. No, Brownley’s already an upgrade. Brownley’s already an upgrade. And so again, Darren Muji is moving on from this player. We’re getting the better of the draft picks. We’re going from a seventh to the sixth. I kind of figured it would be the other way around. We’re getting a sixthrounder here, albeit it’s in the future in 2027, and we’re attacking the biggest position of need on this football team, wide receiver. Now, to be fair, John Mchi, I don’t want to make it sound like we’ve just acquired Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase up to this point, you know, specifically this season. It’s not like Mechi is lighting the world on fire or anything like that, but man, you look at him as a prospect. What is he? 6′ 185 pounds. One of my favorite favorite things about Mchi, very very very quick feet. He was always this balanced uh balanced ball carrier, right? When you watched him on the sidelines being able to tiptoe, tiptoe, tiptoe, and he stays in bounds and picks up another 15 yards. Watching him work over the middle of the field, I think he is a very, very interesting prospect to add to this room that desperately needs help. So, in essence, macro perspective, Darren Muji has moved on from a player that quite frankly, we did not need. I’m going to assume that Philadelphia is going to be taking on the majority of this contract. So, we’re going to be saving money now, and we’re going to be saving money in the long run. We already have his replacement, so we don’t need to worry about investing a future contract, investing, you know, a draft pick, a second round pick, a fourth round pick, and a nickel corner. No, it’s already done and handled. And we’ve also taken a flyer on a young wide receiver. What is he 25 years old? Think about this too for a second, right? There were also rumors connecting Mechi to the New York Jets before he was traded to Philadelphia. So the Jets have had their eye on Meti for quite some time. You know, you take a look at some of these other um acquisitions, these other trades that the Jets have made. Jawan Briggs has worked out. He’s looked awesome. Harrison Phillips, as expected, not been disappointing whatsoever. And we’ve talked a lot about Jarvis Bran Lee here. You know, throw on top of it Mason Taylor coming onto the scene, Arman Meu coming onto the scene, Malachi Moore, Francisco Maloa, day three prospects that are or day three draft picks that are looking pretty solid, looking like they belong. Are they perfect? No. Do they still have a lot of room left to go to be consistent NFL pros? Yes, obviously. But for day three rookies, they are producing. Darren Muji has been here literally less than a year, a handful of months, nine, ten months, Darren Muji got the job and he’s brought in that many players in one swoop in a not so great free agency class. Yeah, I I feel comfortable with Dar Muji here. I I’m a big fan of what Dar Muji has done so far, you know, through his uh Jets tenure. So, man, oh man, what a trade here. What a trade from Daruji. And um you know, again, I was thinking maybe just a pick swap, but we get a pick swap and a young player at the worst position on the team at wide receiver. So, I am freaking fired up. Let’s go. Let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. And as always, go Jets.
Darren Mougey and the New York Jets have traded CB Michael Carter and 2027 7th round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for WR John Metchie and a 2027 6th draft pick! LOVE the move here from the Jets!

MCII was the number one slot corner at one point if I remember correctly. He really fell off this year but I blame that on his lingering back injury
Let's see how Metchie fits in with what the Jets do.
I like this trade from Mougey. Brownlee took Carter’s spot and we got another WR as well. Plus a 6th round pick which doesn’t hurt at all. Let’s go!!
What the hell are you excited about John Metchie sucks he’s horrible. Why do you think the Eagles got rid of him? He is total garbage
This needs to be looked at for what it truly is, which is moving on from Carter. Metchie was a dump on the other side, because the Eagles wanted him off their roster. Sorry, but Metchie is not going to be anything more than a depth guy with a good QB, and with the Jets, he will struggle to get any catches at all.
carter was expensive also what was their savings on this trade
we got a 6th for our 7th also
Metchie is now the best healthy WR on the roster.
This train is horrible. It’s good that you got rid of Carter, but this is nothing to write home to mom about believe me. We got rid of two useless bombs, Kyle Dugger and Keon White and we didn’t get nothing for them. Same crap, not sitting here having a parade like you guys are.
Can we please trade Lazard for a corned beef sandwich idc anymore
Taking a flyer on a major position of need is a good move. Metchie, I didn't realize he had Leukemia in 2022, can be our #2 if he fits the system. We shalll see. At least we got the rest of the season to find out if this former Bama star has the goods to be a #2 or #3 WR for the NY JETS.
Brownlee was a steal
His numbers are trash tho! Facts are facts! Definitely have to draft a receiver in the 2nd rd next year
Mougie>JD. Let him cook
Traded for Brownlee even though fans saying we need a WR2. Then later in the season trades the player that was replaced by Brownlee for a good WR to approve this team. Fans listen! This staff we have now will be one of the top staffs in the NFL in a couple years. If us fans be patient and let them cook🔥. Love this team no matter what❤ Go JETS✈️🚨💚
Give whatever money we save on Carter and help sign Breece Hall
I like it 🗽✈️✈️✈️
Yall wasn't saying that last yr or the yr b4 😂😂😂😂 jets are trash cans 😂
I don't know enough about Metchie, but if you're excited about this trade, and he brings some much needed fire power to the team, I'm fired up 👍🙌. Go Jets!
There's a lot of big X type WRs coming out of this year's draft. I'm good with Wilson, Metchi and a big body rookie X.
Brownlee is a dog, no doubt, definite upgrade… metchie 🤷🏿♂️
Mougie gives me good Vibes. But Douglas also had that he robs the NFL Sign around his Neck. So let's see. At Least the Draft Class and the last acquired Players seem to fit in very quickly and succesfully . That alone and the Game against the Bengals gives me Hope.
Yeah, don't really know how exciting this pickup will turn out since Metchie hasn't distinguished himself so far. Jets have enough 6' tall receivers. With Lazard hopefully gone soon and 6'4" Skinner on the PS, the Jets could use some size outside.
I’m sure Metchie is ecstatic about being a Jet
great move
as time goes on, i’m liking mougey more and more
Nah bro woody and the eagles owner definitely bros. I never seen any other team fuck w the jets more than the eagles lmaoo
always love the passion.
eh i mean Metchie is a throw in. This trade will mean nothing in 2 years. Glazing Mougee for all his rosters moves on a 1-7 team is over the top.
