I’m genuinely surprised he got hired by another MLB team
I cant believe he landed another manager gig. Good for him. Bad for the Twins.
Just glad he isnt our problem anymore.
I never wished this upon even my worst enemy. Poor souls over there in Minnesota
I laughed out loud.
I give him until July 4th.
Completely bizarre. Shelton was completely outclassed as a manager for the Pirates and it’s wild he’s getting another chance.
Not a shock, they are in a rebuild. John Russell must’ve said no. But seems like a decent dude on the radio show wish him well
I’d hate to be a Twins fan right now.
Minnesota twins go to the playoffs next year
RemindMe! 10 months
I’ll bet $5 he has them in the playoffs within three years.
Twins must be really committing to their rebuild. Literally the only reason to hire Shelton is as a tank commander.
Also: 1 Byron Buxton please
I guess if they want to start tanking, he’s got a good track record of it
The Twins don’t care. At all. I honestly don’t know how the 29 other MLB teams were able to look at what Derek Shelton did for 5 and a half years with the Pirates, and think “He’s definitely an MLB manager!” It’s only fitting that the Twins are the ones to think that, because they’re the only MLB team that have a similar level of not caring as the Pirates do. They’re sibling franchises.
LOOOOOOLOLOLOL
Shelton probably got too much heat for the team’s performance given the hot garbage Cherington dumped on him, but also seemed to be genuinely a terrible manager/leader who had totally lost the confidence of players & staff. A little surprising to see him get an immediate shot at managing again without having to serve a few years in bench coach gulag somewhere first.
Love Derek, he’ll at least have a little more to work with in Minnesota?
Shelty!!!!!
Hey, Lloyd eventually got a new job, but that took years. This is kind of shocking.
What part of his tenure with the Pirates made the Twins think “he’s the best candidate to lead us to the playoffs”? I’d say the ownership/management there is just as putrid as the Pirates. 😂
How the hell can anybody look at his resume with the Pirates and think….oh yeah I want this guy managing my ballclub!
He should be forced to manage for all the worst owners in the league
I don’t think he’s a good manager, but it’s also hard to fully judge him based on what he was working with.
This is likely to solidify either Shelton as the single worst manager in MLB history, or the Pirates as the single most dysfunctional organization in sports history
I know what my money is on (both)
Guy is complete trash, can’t manage in game, can’t hold a clubhouse, hires all his buddies for roles and doesn’t take his job serious. Bum manager, amazing he gets another chance.

Early world series favorites for next year.
Andy Haines up next?
Wow some teams just blow my mind.
