This was the exact ring that was supposed to be presented to Joe Torre for winning the 1996 World Series, but it was miscast and is now here for consideration.

Testing the waters to see interest in this piece before reaching out to auction houses. Currently in the process of obtaining documentation of provenance/authenticity.

This is an authentic Balfour NY Yankees Championship Ring that was supposed to be presented to Joe Torre in 1996, however it was miscast and the center stone was not able to be properly fit, causing a second ring to be cast which was the one actually presented to Torre post-championship.

His actual 1996 ring was his most cherished of his four championship rings, and was sold at auction in 2014 for ~$18,000. (Link below). This would have been that ring, had it been the proper sized setting for the stone.

I will update with more detailed photos of the ring and hallmarks as well as ring weight by the weekend. It is solid 14k and very heavy.

I do not have a certificate of authenticity, however it can be sold paired with a Balfour “Distinguished Service” 14k gold ring that was presented to the employee for service longevity who made this miscast. The end of the video is of the ring presented to the employee. As of now, this is the only reinforcement that authenticates the ring. They can be sold together, or just the Championship Ring by itself.

This piece is for the true curator and will likely fetch high numbers once authenticated, and I guarantee it will be.

Please do not hesitate to reach out for more information or to make offers. Again, I will update this post with more specific information and details as soon as I can.
