BIG MOVES COMING? Bengals Create Multiple Roster Spots + NFL Trade News That COULD Impact Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals made multiple roster moves yesterday that cleared three spots on the 53man roster. And last night, we also saw the New England Patriots make multiple trades that the Bengals probably could have afforded if they wanted to. So, we’ll talk about both of those things here on today’s show. And if the Bengals do end up making any trades before the NFL trade deadline, we will have an immediate instant reaction for you guys. So, stay up to date on all things Bengals news. Hit that sub button and let’s get into today’s Bengals rumors. [Music] Let’s begin today’s show with the roster moves that the Cincinnati Bengals made yesterday. First up, Shaka Hayward and Matt Lee were both placed on injured reserve, so they’re going to at least miss the next four weeks for the Bengals. And you know, Matt Lee has been on the injury report here for the past couple of weeks with that knee injury that he’s been dealing with there. Um you know, he’s been available for some of these Bengals games. You know, a couple of times he has also been on the um on the uh you know, inactive list for the Bengals the past couple of weeks there. But then Shaka Hayward, he’s a very good special teams player for the Bengals. He ended up fracturing his leg in last week’s game. So, both of those guys are going to miss the next couple of weeks here. And also, the Bengals ended up releasing defensive tackle Mike Penel. He’s played 133 total snaps for the Bengals this year. But, you know, for the first couple of games of the season, he was playing about 20 snaps there for the first five games for the Bengals per game. And over the past three weeks now, you’ve seen those snaps kind of decrease by about half. You know, there was one game where he played seven and then the last two he played 11 and uh you know, 10 snaps those games there. And it does also sound like he actually requested a release from the Bengals knowing that that continued snap count was probably going to you know continue to go down for him. And he will be uh taking a visit today with the Kansas City Chiefs. And I would probably expect that he will end up signing with the Chiefs because uh, you know, it just makes too much sense for him not to, you know, go take a visit with his former team, win a couple of Super Bowls with them. I I would expect them to end up signing Mike Penel there. That could end up meaning, I think, for the Bengals that you could possibly see some more McKinley Jackson in the lineup. He’s been a healthy scratch for a bunch of these Bengals games to start the season. Or it could also mean that Jordan Jefferson, who the Bengals ended up picking up a couple of weeks ago off the waiver wire, you could also see a little bit more from him. So, will the Bengals make any more trades this year? You got about 6 days before the NFL trade deadline. So, let me know what you guys think down at the pinned comment of today’s show. Type Y for yes or N for no. Would the Bengals make any more trades? All right, let’s start off here with a couple trades that we saw go down yesterday. The Patriots sent Keon White, defensive end, to the San Francisco 49ers. They did a fifth or excuse me, a sixth seventh round pick swap for him as well. And look, man, Keon White, um, you know, he just really hasn’t been great. Uh, hasn’t really played a ton this year for the Patriots. He was actually inactive the past couple of weeks here just because the Patriots you know were expecting to trade him. And this is a guy that uh you know is still on a rookie contract here and like I said hasn’t really played a ton this year but last year did also have five sacks for the New England Patriots. Like I said his snap share has kind of gone down here. Only does also have three pressures on the season so far this year. And I we’ll get into just a second if I think the Bengals should have actually, you know, you know, tried to pursue a trade here for Keon White. But, uh, you know, the money for Keon White would have made sense if the Bengals wanted to do anything here. He’s not really owed a lot, you know, this year or next year. And in that, uh, you know, once after 2026, he would be a unrestricted free agent. So, you know, you would get about a year and a half if the Bengals did want to go down that route. And I will say this as well, you know, the the Bengals right now, I I think they’ve got better than what Keon White could end up, you know, bringing to the table. And, you know, we’ve talked about the lack of pass rush that the Bengals have had so far this year. I just don’t think that a trade for Keon White would have really helped the Bengals at the end of the day. As I mentioned, you know, the Bengals could have done this trade if they wanted to. You know, they do still have, you know, two sixth round picks that they could have, you know, ended up giving up for him if they wanted to go down that route. He is cheap. He’s under control for both this year and next year. And, you know, we have all been complaining about the lack of pass rush that the Bengals have had, even when Trey Hendrickson has been in there. you know, teams just double him or chip him, and nobody else has really been able to at least consistently been able to win their one-on-one matchups there. But I just feel like he is the same caliber of player, if not a little bit less of a caliber of player of what you have in Joseph Osai and Miles Murphy. Both of those guys as well have already been here. They’ve been working with Al Golden for the past, you know, couple of months now that Al Golden has been hired as the Bengals defensive coordinator. I just don’t think it really would have made much sense to go out there and uh try to trade for Keon White really because you probably already have Keon White at home right now. All right, we’ll continue with another trade and some more Bengals trade rumors here in just a second, but first want to give a shout out to the sponsor of today’s show. We appreciate Omaha Stakes for being the sponsor of today’s show. Now, pretty much within about 30 40 minutes or so of these trades going down, the Patriots made a second trade last night that also is going to affect the AFC North. The Patriots also sent safety Kyle Duggard to the Pittsburgh Steelers. They did a sixth, seventh round pick swap for him as well. The Patriots did try to trade Kyle Duggar at the um NFL roster cutdown time, but the contract at the time seemed to be an issue for some team out for some teams out there. He was set to make about $26 million over the next two years. But really, the reason this trade really ended up happening was because the Patriots were willing to take a little bit of that salary off the plate of the Pittsburgh Steelers. You see Ian Rapaort tweeted this out yesterday that the Patriots are actually going to be paying most of that 54 million what was left on Kyle Duggar’s original base salary for this year. They’re also going to be taking on some of those roster bonuses as well to be able to complete that deal. And I think what is also important is this final line right here. The final two contract years have been wiped out. So that $26 million over the next two years are null and void. That is not going to happen. He is going to be a free agent after the 2025 season. And so the Pittsburgh Steelers essentially gave up a sixthround pick for a one-year really halfyear rental here for uh Kyle Duggar because they wiped out the remaining uh you know contract and the Patriots are taking on the majority of what he is going to make the rest of this season as well. And you know, Kyle Duggar, you know, he did get injured um and last season and you know, ended up, I believe it was an ankle injury for him and you know, was kind of supposedly misdiagnosed, had to have surgery on it. And you know, the first couple of years Kyle Duggar was really really good. But this uh you know, past season just wasn’t the best season for him. And you know, this year just really hasn’t been able to make it on the field for the Patriots. And I talked about Kyle Duggar as a possible trade target for the Bengals. You know, I’ve seen some people out there, you know, talking about, can you replace Gino Stone? Could you replace Jordan Battle? I’ll be honest, I kind of think Gino Stone’s probably playing a little bit better than Jordan Battle right now. So, I would have probably wanted, you know, Kyle Duggar to challenge Jordan Battle a little bit, you know, in this Bengals lineup. But it doesn’t really matter. The Steelers end up trading for him. All they end up giving up for him is a sixthround pick. and they also get that extra seventh round pick in return. So, I want to hear from you guys down inside the comments section. We’ve been tra talking about, you know, the Bengals possibly trading for a safety here the past couple of weeks. Would you have made this trade for Kyle Duggar? Let me know what you guys think down in the comments. Type T for trade or P for pass. Now, currently, right now, this is what the Bengals have in terms of 2026 NFL draft picks. And we talk about this because, you know, you’re either trading trade or trading players or you’re trading picks. Uh when you’re, you know, making these trades, you know, right before the NFL trade deadline, uh you you’ve got the bare minimum right now. You do also have those two sixth round picks. You don’t have a fifth round pick because you did that fifth sixth round pick swap for um you know, Joe Flacco a couple of weeks ago there. So, you know, you could talk about trading picks all you want, and I’m going to, you know, continue to talk about it probably here, but, you know, the Bengals right now, they don’t play the pick compensation game to add more picks. You talk about the Patriots, they have nine or 10 total picks right now in the 2026 NFL draft. And a bunch of those, by the way, are before the sixth round. So, they are loading up on picks to, you know, try to help their team. That’s just not something that the Bengals really do at the end of the day. Paul Der Jr., Before we get out of here, by the way, I do want to mention a couple things that he said about uh, you know, some trade rumors here for the Bengals over the next couple of days here. First up, talking about Trey Hendrickson, saying the Cincinnati Bengals are not trading Trey Hendrickson. Full stop. He went on and talked a little bit more about that. But then after that, I think this other part really was notable as well, saying the Bengals and Deacto GM Duke Tobin are not in the business of giving up on winning games this year to add assets for the future. It’s been the primary tenant of their inseason transaction transaction history forever. And I will say it might be a little bit early right now to, you know, talk about giving up on the season. So I totally get that. Paul Danner Jr. did also add some extra stuff talking about 2019 and how you know the Bengals didn’t have a single win at that point. They did this exact same thing then. I think that’s a little bit mismanagement there, but it is what it is. Also talking about Logan Wilson here as well, saying Logan Wilson might have requested a trade, but it is also unlikely he gets dealt. His contract creates problems. he signed through 2027 under the 4-year uh $36 million extension that he signed in 2023 as or excuse me, an acquired team could get out of it, of course, but that is a decent chunk to take initially even if parting ways with him in March. So, you you know, Logan Wilson did request that trade. You know, we talked about it the other day. We’ll see if the Bengals actually end up honoring that and we’ll see if a team even wants Logan Wilson at the end of the day. He also talked about Cam Taylor Britt who has also been on the uh you know NFL trade rumors discussion here saying CTB worked his way back into the lineup against the Jets and the staff is desperately hoping that being made a healthy scratch against Pittsburgh hit a motivational button in uh the embattled 2022 second round cornerback. So, uh, you know, it seems like they still have a little bit of confidence, a little bit of faith in what they could possibly get from CTB. He did also throw a couple other players in the list here, saying that uh, you know, if some teams um, if some team is willing to offer anything for members of the doghouse, talking about Germaine Burton, McKenley Jackson, the Bengals will listen, but don’t expect clamoring for the two bus. That’s wild right there that he did include the word bus there of the 2024 third round though. And I will say as well, Mckenley Jackson, we’ll see maybe if he has worked his way into the lineup there after they ended up cutting uh Mike Penel. So the NFL trade deadline is only 6 days away. We will have you guys covered if the Bengals end up making any trades. So do not miss out. Hit that sub button and join the community here at Bengals Breakdown. [Music]

  1. if these guys request a trade you may as well trade them cuase evidently they don't want to p[lay there and they won't p;ay on the field think that is alot of the defense probalem

  2. I’m sure that a lot of people won’t care, but at this point, I think I’m trading Joe Burrow if anyone wants him for a price. He’s hurt every other season. We are guaranteed to have this issue every other season if the past has told us anything. I’m probably trading tee too. I love tee, but I think he has value. I’m keeping Jamar because we’ve proven that a smart veteran who doesn’t cost much can definitely get the ball to him. And I’m firing the shit out of Duke Tobin. I can’t stand that man. I don’t know why he still has a job. A 16-year-old kid that is consistently good at madden franchise and you will have something better than Duke Tobin. Then for the love of God, fix our defense. You have never seen a team with a defense even close to this bad that won a Super Bowl, regardless of what their offense did.

  3. N: Without Flacco, the offense has no chance to outpace massive points allowed by the defense. Browning is an unmitigated disaster and he should not even be on the team, just like ZT.
