Your boy is back again with another installment of “Regular Dude Talks Bucks Basketball.” After waxing poetically last week about how Bucks fans need to chill tf out and stop overreacting to every good or bad game I’m about to do just that. Something, something, something do as I say not as I do.

TLDR: The deer are looking dangerous

Overreaction 1: Kyle Kuzma is the most important player on the roster not named Giannis.

Kyle is the only player on the roster with the physical tools to guard offensively talented wings. AJG can’t do it, GTJ can’t do it, Ryan Rollins can’t do it, nobody can but Kuz. Offensively he’s played within himself so far and been solid. If he can stay consistent offensively and continue putting in the effort defensively Bucks fans are in for an awesome season. To further my point, the one game Kuz sat is our only loss 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Overreaction 2: Cole Anthony or Ryan Rollins will get all-star votes if they can find offensive consistency.

They’ve both had great games and they’ve both had not-so-great games so far this season. If either can tap into a night in night out consistency they haven’t been able to reach yet they will receive some all-star consideration. If Ryan in particular can perform at the level we saw last night in every game the league better watch out. He’s proving himself to be a premier perimeter defender (almost 3 spg 🤯) and if he can throw up a consistent 20 ppg and continue hitting big shots, the sky is the limit.

Overreaction 3: Get Bobby Portis as far away from this roster as possible.

There’s no easy way to put this, Bobby has been horrendous (outside a few mins in the 3rd quarter vs the Cavs). I was clowned for saying we should never have resigned him and I stand by what I said. The man can’t play defense. Right now he’s averaging 7.7 ppg on 34% from the field and 33% from 3. In 4 games he’s yet to attempt a free throw. Even his rebounding is down and he’s averaging damn near 2 TO’s per game. He doesn’t fit with the new roster and how we are going to play this year. Even if he’s “playing his way into shape” he should be embarrassed. Players like Jokic are allowed to “play himself into shape” players like Bobby should not be. Send his ass packing as soon as possible.

Overreaction 4: Larry O incoming #bucksin6

Hang the banner fellas it’s a wrap. Fresh off beating last years ECF finalists without our starting PG and with our only loss coming at the hands of one of the easts top teams (without 3 of our most important players) I see no other outcome for the season. Might as well call it a wrap now and give us the trophy Adam 🤷🏼‍♂️.

  6. No. Kuzma has been terrible and defense sieve-like other than 1 game he found a decent matchup.

    Rollins will receive precisely zero AS votes. Which will still be more than Cole Anthony will get.

    Bobby is awful. It’s been a long time since he was a positive player. Hoping he can get out of this slide because we really do need a little for scoring from the non Giannis frontcourt.

  10. Cole Anthony’s offensive abilities have been as smooth as butter
    I’ve actually been more impressed with Rollins defense, I was listening to a recap of last night’s game and the only time Brunson was held in check was when Rollins was the primary defender on him. They are not getting all star votes though.

    Kuz needs to keep playing within himself, but even then he’s not that important to the Bucks success, actually I am still far more worried about him being a big negative, but he’s been decent so far with focusing on defense and using his athleticism on the break.

    I am with ya on Bobby. He’s kind of been a frustrating player for 75% of the time he’s been with the Bucks, but it’s been really noticeable the last two seasons with being a black hole on offense and an NPC on defense. On offense he runs to the area of whatever guard is handling the ball, posts up on any defender regardless if it’s a good matchup, and launches the worst shot in basketball, a long contested two. He used to get offensive boards but doesn’t even do that anymore.
