Now obviously, I do expect bias since this IS the Canes subreddit. But watching the Canes play these last couple of years have made me fall in love with ice hockey. I don’t really watch other teams play that much so I don’t know how they compare to Carolina. But I personally find the Canes incredibly entertaining and fun to watch

  1. So far this season the Canes are top 3 in the league in rush chances and expected goals. Not really sure how we’re boring tbh. People are recycling talking points from like 4 years ago

  2. The media repeats the same 4 talking points about the canes regardless of whether or not they’re true. They learn the talking point and convince themselves of it without actually bothering to watch a canes game

  3. Guess it’s boring when it’s expected we’re good then we proceed to be good.

Maybe it’s because I’m a fan and follow us closer, but these games have been very interesting and entertaining to watch because of all the injuries.

  4. Eh kind of an old trope. Hurricanes get a lot more breakaways these days but they do have a slower breakout than a lot of teams. They don’t do the 3 on 3 setups in the offensive zones very often, typically because they don’t often try to breakout from their own zone very quickly. Some people don’t like that, ultimately it is a more structured way to play hockey.

You get the guys you want on the ice, set up 5 on 5 with the forecheck and get your defenseman involved with offense after the forwards get the puck back to the blue line. You can back check a lot easier if your guys are responsible with puck management.

If people find that boring, whatever. There’s a lot more dynamic playmaking in the hurricanes game today than there was 3-4 years ago and we’ve been hearing this shit for ages. It’s almost like *they watch 3 hurricanes games a year and aren’t aware of the differences between the seasons and they want to say something to feel smart so they go with some tired line they’ve heard somewhere else before.*

  5. I think you guys let the “boring” charge bother you WAY more than it should. Who cares as long as you’re winning
